Read Dua during the Occultation of Imam Mahdi (a.t.f.s.) - SHORT اَللّٰهُمَّ عَرِّفْنِىْ نَفْسَكَ with Arabic text, transliteration, English translation, and merits on Shia Companion.
Text and Translation
Shaykh al-Kulayni and others have reported that Imam al-Sadiq (a.s.) taught Zurarah to say this supplicatory prayer in the age of the occultation of Imam al-Mahdi (a.t.f.s.) and when the Shi’ah are exposed to tribulations:
اَللّٰهُمَّ عَرِّفْنِىْ نَفْسَكَ
ALLAAHUMMA A’RRIFNEE NAFSAKA
O Allah introduce Yourself to me
فَاِنَّكَ اِنْ لَمْ تُعَرِّفْنِىْ نَفْسَكَ
FA-INNAKA IN LAM TO-A’RRIFNEE NAFSAKA
For, if you do not introduce Yourself to me,
لَمْ اَعْرِفْ نَبِيَّكَ
LAM A-A’RIF NABIYYAKA
I will not recognize Your Prophet (s.a.w.a.).
اَللّٰهُمَّ عَرِّفْنِىْ رَسُوْلَكَ
ALLAAHUMMA A’RRIFNEE RASOOLAKA
O Allah make me recognize Your Prophet (s.a.w.a.)
فَاِنَّكَ اِنْ لَمْ تُعَرِّفْنِىْ رَسُوْلَكَ
FA-INNAKA IN LAM TO-A’RRIFNEE RASOOLAKA
because if I do not recognize Your Prophet (s.a.w.a.),
لَمْ اَعْرِفْ حُجَّتَكَ
LAM A-A’RIF HUJJATAKA
I will not recognize Your Proof [Imam (a.s.)].
اَللّٰهُمَّ عَرِّفْنِىْ حُجَّتَكَ
ALLAAHUMMA A’RRIFNEE HUJJATAKA
O Allah make me recognize Your Proof (a.t.f.s.)
فَاِنَّكَ اِنْ لَمْ تُعَرِّفْنِىْ حُجَّتَكَ
FA-INNAKA IN LAM TO-A’RRIFNEE HUJJATAKA
For, if you do not make me recognize Your Proof,
ضَلَلْتُ عَنْ دِيْنِىْ.
ZALALTO A’N DEENEE.
I will deviate from my religion.
