Dua Asharat

Text and Translation

The Supplication of the Tens; some of its passages are repeated ten times each. This version — there being some difference among its transmitted copies — follows Shaykh al-Tusi's Misbah al-Mutahajjid. It is advisable to say it every morning and evening, though its best time is Friday afternoon:

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ سُبْحَانَ اللّٰهِ وَ الْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ وَ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللّٰهُ وَ اللهُ اَكْبَرُ وَ لَا حَوْلَ وَ لَا قُوَّةَ اِلَّا بِاللّٰهِ الْعَلِيِّ الْعَظِيْمِ

BISMIL LAAHIR RAHMAANIR RAHEEM SUBHAANAL LAAHI WAL HAMDU LILLAAHI WA LAA ILAAHA ILLAL LAAHU WALLAAHO AKBAR WA LAA HAWLA WA LAA QUWWATA ILLAA BILLAAHIL A'LIYYIL A'ZEEM

In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful. Glory be to Allah, praise be to Allah, there is no god but Allah, Allah is the Greatest, and there is no power and no strength except with Allah, the Most High, the All-magnificent.

سُبْحَانَ اللّٰهِ اٰنَاۤءَ اللَّيْلِ وَ اَطْرَافَ النَّهَارِ سُبْحَانَ اللّٰهِ بِالْغُدُوِّ وَ الْاٰصَالِ

SUBHAANAL LAAHI AANAAA-AL LAYLI WA ATRAAFAN NAHAAR SUBHAANAL LAAHI BIL GHUDUWWI WAL AASAAL

Glory be to Allah in the hours of the night and the two ends of the day; glory be to Allah in the early morning and the evening,

سُبْحَانَ اللّٰهِ بِالْعَشِيِّ وَ الْاِبْكَارِ سُبْحَانَ اللّٰهِ حِيْنَ تُمْسُوْنَ وَ حِيْنَ تُصْبِحُوْنَ

SUBHAANAL LAAHI BIL A'SHIYYI WAL IBKAAR SUBHAANAL LAAHI HEENA TUMSOONA WA HEENA TUSBIHOON

glory be to Allah at nightfall and daybreak, glory be to Allah when you enter the evening and when you enter the morning,

وَ لَهُ الْحَمْدُ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَ الْاَرْضِ وَ عَشِيَّا وَ حِيْنَ تُظْهِرُوْنَ

WA LAHUL HAMDU FIS SAMAAWAATI WAL ARDI WA A'SHIYYAW WA HEENA TUZHIROON

and unto Him is praise in the heavens and the earth, at nightfall and at noon,

يُخْرِجُ الْحَيَّ مِنَ الْمَيِّتِ وَ يُخْرِجُ الْمَيِّتَ مِنَ الْحَيِّ وَ يُحْيِيْ الْاَرْضَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَا وَ كَذٰلِكَ تُخْرَجُوْنَ

YUKHRIJUL HAYYA MINAL MAYYITI WA YUKHRIJUL MAYYITA MINAL HAYYI WA YUHYIL ARDA BA'DA MAWTIHAA WA KAZAALIKA TUKHRAJOON

He brings forth the living from the dead and brings forth the dead from the living, and He revives the earth after its death; and even so shall you be brought forth.

سُبْحَانَ رَبِّكَ رَبِّ الْعِزَّةِ عَمَّا يَصِفُوْنَ وَ سَلَامٌ عَلَى الْمُرْسَلِيْنَ وَ الْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِيْنَ

SUBHAANA RABBIKA RABBIL I'ZZATI A'MMAA YASIFOON WA SALAAMUN A'LAL MURSALEENA WAL HAMDU LILLAAHI RABBIL A'ALAMEEN

Glorified is your Lord, the Lord of Might, above what they attribute to Him; and peace be upon the messengers, and praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.

سُبْحَانَ ذِي الْمُلْكِ وَ الْمَلَكُوْتِ سُبْحَانَ ذِي الْعِزَّةِ وَ الْجَبَرُوْتِ سُبْحَانَ ذِي الْكِبْرِيَاۤءِ وَ الْعَظَمَةِ

SUBHAANA ZIL MULKI WAL MALAKOOT SUBHAANA ZIL I'ZZATI WAL JABAROOT SUBHAANA ZIL KIBRIYAAA-I WAL A'ZAMAH

Glory be to the Lord of the kingdom and the dominion, glory be to the Lord of might and sovereignty, glory be to the Lord of majesty and greatness,

الْمَلِكِ الْحَقِّ الْمُهَيْمِنِ الْقُدُّوْسِ سُبْحَانَ اللّٰهِ الْمَلِكِ الْحَيِّ الَّذِيْ لَا يَمُوْتُ سُبْحَانَ اللّٰهِ الْمَلِكِ الْحَيِّ الْقُدُّوْسِ

AL-MALIKIL HAQQIL MUHAYMINIL QUDDOOS SUBHAANAL LAAHIL MALIKIL HAYYIL LAZEE LAA YAMOOT SUBHAANAL LAAHIL MALIKIL HAYYIL QUDDOOS

the True Sovereign, the Guardian, the Holy. Glory be to Allah, the Ever-living Sovereign Who never dies; glory be to Allah, the Ever-living, Holy Sovereign.

سُبْحَانَ الْقَاۤئِمِ الدَّاۤئِمِ سُبْحَانَ الدَّاۤئِمِ الْقَاۤئِمِ سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الْعَظِيْمِ سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الْاَعْلٰى

SUBHAANAL QAAA-IMID DAAA-IM SUBHAANAD DAAA-IMIL QAAA-IM SUBHAANA RABBIYAL A'ZEEM SUBHAANA RABBIYAL A'LAA

Glory be to the Ever-standing, the Everlasting; glory be to the Everlasting, the Ever-standing; glory be to my Lord, the Most Great; glory be to my Lord, the Most High,

سُبْحَانَ الْحَيِّ الْقَيُّوْمِ سُبْحَانَ الْعَلِيِّ الْاَعْلٰى سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالٰى سُبُّوْحٌ قُدُّوْسٌ رَبُّنَا وَ رَبُّ الْمَلَاۤئِكَةِ وَ الرُّوْحِ

SUBHAANAL HAYYIL QAYYOOM SUBHAANAL A'LIYYIL A'LAA SUBHAANAHU WA TA-A'ALAA SUBBOOHUN QUDDOOSUR RABBUNAA WA RABBUL MALAAA-IKATI WAR ROOH

glory be to the Ever-living, the Self-subsisting; glory be to the Most High, the Highest; glory be to Him, exalted is He, All-glorious, All-holy, our Lord and the Lord of the angels and the Spirit,

سُبْحَانَ الدَّاۤئِمِ غَيْرِ الْغَافِلِ سُبْحَانَ الْعَالِمِ بِغَيْرِ تَعْلِيْمٍ

SUBHAANAD DAAA-IMI GHAYRIL GHAAFIL SUBHAANAL A'ALIMI BI-GHAYRI TA'LEEM

glory be to the Everlasting Who is never heedless, glory be to the All-knowing Who needed no teaching,

سُبْحَانَ خَالِقِ مَا يُرٰى وَ مَا لَا يُرٰى سُبْحَانَ الَّذِيْ يُدْرِكُ الْاَبْصَارَ وَ لَا تُدْرِكُهُ الْاَبْصَارُ وَ هُوَ اللَّطِيْفُ الْخَبِيْرُ

SUBHAANA KHAALIQI MAA YURAA WA MAA LAA YURAA SUBHAANAL LAZEE YUDRIKUL ABSAARA WA LAA TUDRIKUHUL ABSAARU WA HUWAL LATEEFUL KHABEER

glory be to the Creator of what is seen and what is unseen, glory be to Him Who perceives all sights while sights cannot perceive Him, and He is the Subtle, the Aware.

اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّي اَصْبَحْتُ مِنْكَ فِي نِعْمَةٍ وَ خَيْرٍ وَ بَرَكَةٍ وَ عَافِيَةٍ فَصَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اٰلِهِ

ALLAAHUMMA INNEE ASBAHTU MINKA FEE NI'MATIN WA KHAYRIN WA BARAKATIN WA A'AAFIYATIN FASALLI A'LAA MUHAMMADIN WA AALIH

O Allah, I have entered this morning in blessing, goodness, grace, and well-being from You; so bless Muhammad and his Household,

وَ اَتْمِمْ عَلَيَّ نِعْمَتَكَ وَ خَيْرَكَ وَ بَرَكَاتِكَ وَ عَافِيَتَكَ بِنَجَاةٍ مِنَ النَّارِ

WA ATMIM A'LAYYA NI'MATAKA WA KHAYRAKA WA BARAKAATIKA WA A'AAFIYATAKA BI-NAJAATIM MINAN NAAR

and complete for me Your blessing, Your goodness, Your grace, and Your well-being, with deliverance from the Fire,

وَ ارْزُقْنِيْ شُكْرَكَ وَ عَافِيَتَكَ وَ فَضْلَكَ وَ كَرَامَتَكَ اَبَدًا مَا اَبْقَيْتَنِيْ

WAR ZUQNEE SHUKRAKA WA A'AAFIYATAKA WA FADLAKA WA KARAAMATAKA ABADAM MAA ABQAYTANEE

and grant me gratitude to You, well-being from You, Your bounty, and Your honor, for as long as You let me live.

اَللّٰهُمَّ بِنُوْرِكَ اهْتَدَيْتُ وَ بِفَضْلِكَ اسْتَغْنَيْتُ وَ بِنِعْمَتِكَ اَصْبَحْتُ وَ اَمْسَيْتُ

ALLAAHUMMA BI-NOORIKAH TADAYTU WA BI-FADLIKAS TAGHNAYTU WA BI-NI'MATIKA ASBAHTU WA AMSAYT

O Allah, by Your light I have been guided, by Your bounty I have become needless, and by Your blessing I begin my morning and my evening.

اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّي اُشْهِدُكَ وَ كَفٰى بِكَ شَهِيْدًا وَ اُشْهِدُ مَلَاۤئِكَتَكَ وَ اَنْبِيَاۤءَكَ وَ رُسُلَكَ وَ حَمَلَةَ عَرْشِكَ وَ سُكَّانَ سَمَاوَاتِكَ وَ اَرْضِكَ وَ جَمِيْعَ خَلْقِكَ

ALLAAHUMMA INNEE USH-HIDUKA WA KAFAA BIKA SHAHEEDAW WA USH-HIDU MALAAA-IKATAKA WA ANBIYAAA-AKA WA RUSULAKA WA HAMALATA A'RSHIKA WA SUKKAANA SAMAAWAATIKA WA ARDIKA WA JAMEE-A' KHALQIKA

O Allah, I call You to witness — and You suffice as a Witness — and I call to witness Your angels, Your prophets, Your messengers, the bearers of Your Throne, the dwellers of Your heavens and Your earth, and all Your creation,

بِاَنَّكَ اَنْتَ اللهُ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اَنْتَ وَحْدَكَ لَا شَرِيْكَ لَكَ وَ اَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ اٰلِهِ عَبْدُكَ وَ رَسُوْلُكَ

BI-ANNAKA ANTAL LAAHO LAA ILAAHA ILLAA ANTA WAHDAKA LAA SHAREEKA LAKA WA ANNA MUHAMMADAN SALLAL LAAHO A'LAYHI WA AALIHI A'BDUKA WA RASOOLUK

that You are Allah, there is no god but You, alone, with no partner unto You, and that Muhammad — Allah's blessings be upon him and his Household — is Your servant and Your Messenger,

وَ اَنَّكَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيْرٌ تُحْيِيْ وَ تُمِيْتُ وَ تُمِيْتُ وَ تُحْيِيْ

WA ANNAKA A'LAA KULLI SHAY-IN QADEER TUHYEE WA TUMEETU WA TUMEETU WA TUHYEE

and that You have power over all things; You give life and cause death, and You cause death and give life,

وَ اَشْهَدُ اَنَّ الْجَنَّةَ حَقٌّ وَ اَنَّ النَّارَ حَقٌّ وَ اَنَّ النُّشُوْرَ حَقٌّ وَ السَّاعَةَ اٰتِيَةٌ لَا رَيْبَ فِيْهَا وَ اَنَّ اللهَ يَبْعَثُ مَنْ فِي الْقُبُوْرِ

WA ASH-HADU ANNAL JANNATA HAQQUW WA ANNAN NAARA HAQQUW WA ANNAN NUSHOORA HAQQUW WAS SAAA-A'TA AATIYATUL LAA RAYBA FEEHAA WA ANNAL LAAHA YAB-A'THU MAN FIL QUBOOR

and I bear witness that Paradise is true, the Fire is true, the Resurrection is true, the Hour is coming with no doubt in it, and that Allah will raise up those who are in the graves.

وَ اَشْهَدُ اَنَّ عَلِيَّ بْنَ اَبِيْ طَالِبٍ اَمِيْرُ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ حَقًّا حَقًّا

WA ASH-HADU ANNA A'LEE-YABNA ABEE TAALIBIN AMEERUL MU'MINEENA HAQQAN HAQQAA

And I bear witness that Ali ibn Abi Talib is truly, truly the Commander of the Faithful,

وَ اَنَّ الْاَئِمَّةَ مِنْ وُلْدِهِ هُمُ الْاَئِمَّةُ الْهُدَاةُ الْمَهْدِيُّوْنَ غَيْرُ الضَّآلِّيْنَ وَ لَا الْمُضِلِّيْنَ

WA ANNAL A-IMMATA MIN WULDIHI HUMUL A-IMMATUL HUDAATUL MAHDIYYOONA GHAYRUD DAAA-LLEENA WA LAL MUDILLEEN

and that the Imams of his progeny are the guiding, rightly-guided Imams, neither astray nor leading astray,

وَ اَنَّهُمْ اَوْلِيَاۤؤُكَ الْمُصْطَفُوْنَ وَ حِزْبُكَ الْغَالِبُوْنَ وَ صَفْوَتُكَ وَ خِيَرَتُكَ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ

WA ANNAHUM AWLIYAAA-UKAL MUSTAFAWNA WA HIZBUKAL GHAALIBOONA WA SAFWATUKA WA KHIYARATUKA MIN KHALQIK

and that they are Your chosen intimate friends, Your victorious party, Your elite and Your best from among Your creation,

وَ نُجَبَاۤؤُكَ الَّذِيْنَ انْتَجَبْتَهُمْ لِدِيْنِكَ وَ اخْتَصَصْتَهُمْ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ وَ اصْطَفَيْتَهُمْ عَلٰى عِبَادِكَ وَ جَعَلْتَهُمْ حُجَّةً عَلَى الْعَالَمِيْنَ

WA NUJABAAA-UKAL LAZEENAN TAJABTAHUM LI-DEENIKA WAKH TASASTAHUM MIN KHALQIKA WAS TAFAYTAHUM A'LAA I'BAADIKA WA JA-A'LTAHUM HUJJATAN A'LAL A'ALAMEEN

and Your chosen ones whom You have selected for Your religion, singled out from Your creation, chosen over Your servants, and made a proof over all the worlds;

صَلَوَاتُكَ عَلَيْهِمْ وَ السَّلَامُ وَ رَحْمَةُ اللّٰهِ وَ بَرَكَاتُهُ

SALAWAATUKA A'LAYHIM WAS SALAAMU WA RAHMATUL LAAHI WA BARAKAATUH

Your blessings, peace, mercy and blessings be upon them.

اَللّٰهُمَّ اكْتُبْ لِيْ هٰذِهِ الشَّهَادَةَ عِنْدَكَ حَتّٰى تُلَقِّنَنِيْهَا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَ اَنْتَ عَنِّيْ رَاضٍ اِنَّكَ عَلٰى مَا تَشَاۤءُ قَدِيْرٌ

ALLAAHUMMAK TUB LEE HAAZIHISH SHAHAADATA I'NDAKA HATTAA TULAQQINANEEHAA YAWMAL QIYAAMATI WA ANTA A'NNEE RAADIN INNAKA A'LAA MAA TASHAAA-O QADEER

O Allah, record this testimony for me with You, so that You restore it to me on the Day of Resurrection while You are pleased with me; verily You have power over whatever You will.

اَللّٰهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ حَمْدًا يَصْعَدُ اَوَّلُهُ وَ لَا يَنْفَدُ اٰخِرُهُ
