Dua Alqamah

Text and Translation

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ.

BISMIL LAAHIR RAHMAANIR RAHEEM

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

يَا اَللهُ يَا اَللهُ يَا اَللهُ

YAA ALLAAHO YAA ALLAAHO YAA ALLAAHO

O Allah! O Allah! O Allah!

يَا مُجِيْبَ دَعْوَةِ الْمُضْطَرِّيْنَ

YAA MOJEEBA DA’-WATIL MUZTARREENA

O He Who responds to the prayer of the distressed!

يَا كَاشِفَ كَرْبِ الْمَكْرُوْبِيْنَ

YAA KAASHEFA KARBIL MAKROOBEENA

O He Who relieves the agonies of the agonized!

يَا غِيَاثَ الْمُسْتَغِيْثِيْنَ

YAA GHEYAASAL MUSTAGHEESEENA

O Aide of the callers for aid!

يَا صَرِيْخَ الْمُسْتَصْرِخِيْنَ

YAA SAREEKHAL MUSTASREKHEENA

O Helper of those who cry for help!

وَيَا مَنْ هُوَ اَقْرَبُ اِلَىَّ مِنْ حَبْلِ الْوَرِيْدِ

WA YAA MAN HOWA AQRABO ELAYYA MIN HABLIL WAREEDE

O He Who is nearer to me than my life-vein!

وَيَا مَنْ يَحُوْلُ بَيْنَ الْمَرْءِ وَقَلْبِهٖ

WA YAA MAN YAHOOLO BAYNALMAR-E WA QALBEHI

O He Who intervenes between man and his heart!

وَيَا مَنْ هُوَ بِالْمَنْظَرِ الْاَعْلٰى وَبِالْاُفُقِ الْمُبِيْنِ

WA YAA MAN HOWA BIL MANZARIL AA’-LAA WA BIL OFOQIL MOBEENE

O He Who is in the Highest Position and in the Clear Horizon!

يَا مَنْ هُوَ الرَّحْمٰنُ الرَّحِيْمُ عَلَى الْعَرْشِ اسْتَوىٰ

WA YAA MAN HOWAR RAHMAANUR RAHEEMO A’LAL A’RSHIS-TAWAA

O He Who is all-beneficent and all-merciful and is established on the Throne!

وَيَا مَنْ يَعْلَمُ خَآئِنَةَ الْاَعْيُنِ وَمَا تُخْفِى الصُّدُوْرُ

WA YAA MAN YA’-LAMO KHAA-ENATAL AA’-YONI WA MAA TUKHFIS SODOORO

O He Who knows the stealthy looks and that which the breasts conceal!

وَيَا مَنْ لَا يَخْفٰى عَلَيْهِ خَافِيَةٌ

WA YAA MAN LAA YAKHFAA A’LAYHE KHAAFEYATUN

O He from Whom no secret can remain hidden!

يَا مَنْ لَا تَشْتَبِهُ عَلَيْهِ الْاَصْوَاتُ

YAA MAN LAA TASHTABEHO A’LAYHIL ASWAATO

O He Whom is not confused by the many voices (that pray Him)!

وَيَا مَنْ لَا تُغَلِّطُهُ الْحَاجَاتُ

WA YAA MAN LAA TOGHALLETOHUL HAAJAATO

O He Whom is not confounded by the many requests (that are raised to Him)!

وَيَا مَنْ لَا يُبْرِمُهٗ اِلْحَاحُ الْمُلِحِّيْنَ

WA YAA MAN LAA YUBREMOHU ILHAAHUL MOLEHHEENA

O He Who is not annoyed by the insistence of those who entreat Him persistently!

يَا مُدْرِكَ كُلِّ فَوْتٍ

YAA MUDREKA KULLE FAWTIN

O He Who overtakes every attempt of escape!

وَيَا جَامِعَ كُلِّ شَمْلٍ

WA YAA JAAME-A’KULLE SHAMLIN

O Reunifier of every scattering thing!

وَيَا بَارِءَ النُّفُوْسِ بَعْدَ الْمَوْتِ

WA YAA BAARE-AN NOFOOSE BA’-DAL MAWTE

O Re-originator of the souls after death!

يَا مَنْ هُوَ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ فِىْ شَاْنٍ

YAA MAN HOWA KULLA YAWMIN FEE SHAANIN

O He Who is in a state every moment!

يَا قَاضِىَ الْحَاجَاتِ

YAA QAAZEYAL HAAJAATE

O Grantor of requests!

يَا مُنَفِّسَ الْكُرُبَاتِ

YAA MONAFFESAL KOROBAATE

O Reliever of agonies!

يَا مُعْطِىَ السُّؤُلَاتِ

YAA MOA’-TEYAS SO-OOLAATE

O Conferrer of demands!

يَا وَلِىَّ الرَّغَبَاتِ

YAA WALIYYAR RAGHABAATE

O Bestower of desires!

يَا كَافِىَ الْمُهِمَّاتِ

YAA KAAFEYAL MOHIMMAATE

O Savior from sufferings!

يَا مَنْ يَكْفِىْ مِنْ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ

YAA MAN YAKFEE MIN KULLE SHAY-IN

O He Who can save from all things

وَلَا يَكْفِىْ مِنْهُ شَىْءٌ فِى السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِ

WA LAA YAKFEE MINHO SHAY-UN FIS SAMAAWAATE WAL ARZE

and nothing in the heavens or in the earth can save from Him!

اَسْئَلُكَ بِحَقِّ مُحَمَّدٍ خَاتَمِ النَّبِيِّيْنَ

AS-ALOKA BE-HAQQE MOHAMMADIN KHAATEMIN NABIYYEENA

I beseech You in the name of Muhammad the seal of the Prophets,

وَعَلِىٍّ اَمِيْرِ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ

WA A’LIYYIN AMEERIL MOMINEENA

Ali, the commander of the faithful,

وَبِحَقِّ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ نَبِيِّكَ

WA BEHAQQE FAATEMATA BINTE NABIYYEKA

Fatemah the daughter of Your Prophet,

وَبِحَقِّ الْحَسَنِ وَالْحُسَيْنِ

WA BE-HAQQIL HASANE WAL HUSAINE

al-Hasan, and al-Husain,

فَاِنِّىْ بِهِمْ اَتَوَجَّهُ اِلَيْكَ فِىْ مَقَامِىْ هٰذَا

FA-INNEE BEHIM ATAWAJJAHO ELAYKA FEE MAQAAMEE HAAZAA

for I turn my face towards You in their names at this very situation of mine,

وَبِهِمْ اَتَوَسَّلُ

WA BEHIM ATA-WASSALO

I make them my means to You,

وَبِهِمْ اَتَشَفَّعُ اِلَيْكَ

WA BEHIM ATA-SHAFFA-O’ ELAYKA

I seek their intercession for me with You,

وَبِحَقِّهِمْ اَسْئَلُكَ

WA BE-HAQQEHIM ASALOKA

I beseech You in the name of Your duty towards them,

وَاُقْسِمُ وَاَعْزِمُ عَلَيْكَ

WA UQSEMO WA AA’-ZEMO A’LAYKA

I adjure You, and I beg You earnestly,

وَبِالشَّاْنِ الَّذِىْ لَهُمْ عِنْدَكَ

WA BISH-SHAANIL LAZEE LAHUM I’NDAKA

in the name of the status that they enjoy with You,

وَبِالْقَدْرِ الَّذِىْ لَهُمْ عِنْدَكَ

WA BIL-QADRILLAZEE LAHUM I’NDAKA

the value that they enjoy in Your sight,

وَبِالَّذِىْ فَضَّلْتَهُمْ عَلَى الْعَالَمِيْنَ

WA BILLAZEE FAZZALTAHUM A’LAL A’ALAMEENA

in the name of the thing by which You have preferred them over all the other beings,

وَبِاسْمِكَ الَّذِىْ جَعَلْتَهٗ عِنْدَهُمْ

WA BISMEKALLAZEE JA-A’LTAHU I’NDAHUM

in the name of Your Name that You have placed with them

وَبِهٖ خَصَصْتَهُمْ دُوْنَ الْعَالَمِيْنَ

WA BEHEE KHASASTAHUM DOONAL A’ALAMEENA

and given them exclusively other than all the other beings,

وَبِهٖ اَبَنْتَهُمْ وَاَبَنْتَ فَضْلَهُمْ

WA BEHEE ABANTAHUM WA ABANTA FAZLAHUM

and through which You have distinguished them

مِنْ فَضْلِ الْعَالَمِيْنَ

MIN FAZLIL A’ALAMEENA

and demonstrated their distinctive precedence over all the other beings so uniquely

حَتّٰى فَاقَ فَضْلُهُمْ فَضْلَ الْعَالَمِيْنَ جَمِيْعًا

HATTAA FAAQA FAZLOHUM FAZLAL A’ALAMEENA JAMEE-A’N

that their preference has exceeded all the distinctive features of all the other beings;

اَسْئَلُكَ اَنْ تُصَلِّىَ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّاٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

AS-ALOKA AN TOSALLEYA A’LAA MOHAMMADIN WA AALE MOHAMMADIN

I beseech You (in the name of all that) to send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,

وَاَنْ تَكْشِفَ عَنِّىْ غَمِّىْ وَهَمِّىْ وَكَرْبِىْ

WA AN TAKSHEFA A’NNEE GHAMMEE WA HAMMEE WA KARBEE

to relieve me from my distress, grief, and agony,

وَتَكْفِيَنِى الْمُهِمَّ مِنْ اُمُوْرِىْ

WA TAKFEYANIL MOHIMMA MIN OMOOREE

to make up for me all my distressing affairs,

وَتَقْضِىَ عَنِّىْ دَيْنِىْ

WA TAQZEYA A’NNEE DAYNEE

to help me settle my debts,

وَتُجِيْرَنِىْ مِنَ الْفَقْرِ

WA TOJEERANEE MENAL FAQRE

to safeguard me against poverty,

وَتُجِيْرَنِىْ مِنَ الْفَاقَةِ

WA TOJEERANEE MENAL FAAQATE

to safeguard me against scarcity,

وَتُغْنِيَنِىْ عَنِ الْمَسْئَلَةِ اِلَى الْمَخْلُوْقِيْنَ

WA TUGHNEYANEE A’NIL MAS-ALATE ELAL MAKHLOOQEENA

to make me dispense with begging from the created beings,

وَتَكْفِيَنِىْ هَمَّ مَنْ اَخَافُ هَمَّهٗ

WA TAKFEYANEE HAMMA MAN AAKHAAFO HAMMAHU

to spare me from the distress of what I anticipate to distress me,

وَعُسْرَ مَنْ اَخَافُ عُسْرَهٗ

WA U’SRA MAN AKHAAFO U’SRAHU

the difficulty of what I anticipate to be difficult for me,

وَحُزُوْنَةَ مَنْ اَخَافُ حُزُوْنَتَهٗ

WA HOZOONATA MAN AKHAAFO HOZOONATAHU

the toughness of what I anticipate to be hard for me (to deal with),

وَشَرَّ مَنْ اَخَافُ شَرَّهٗ

WA SHARRA MAN AKHAAFO SHARRAHU

the evil of what I anticipate to be evil,

وَمَكْرَ مَنْ اَخَافُ مَكْرَهٗ

WA MAKRA MAN AKHAAFO MAKRAHU

the conspiracy of whom I anticipate to plot conspiracy (against me),

وَبَغْىَ مَنْ اَخْافُ بَغْيَهٗ

WA BAGHYA MAN AKHAAFO BAGHYAHU

the tyranny of whom I anticipate to treat me tyrannically,

وَجَوْرَ مَنْ اَخْافُ جَوْرَهٗ

WA JAWRA MAN AKHAAFO JAWRAHU

the injustice of whom I anticipate to be unjust to me

وَسُلْطَانَ مَنْ اَخْافُ سُلْطَانَهٗ

WA SULTAANA MAN AKHAAFO SULTAANAHU

the domination of whom I anticipate to dominate me,

وَكَيْدَ مَنْ اَخْافُ كَيْدَهٗ

WA KAYDA MAN AKHAAFO KAYDAHU

the trickery of whom I anticipate to trick me,

وَمَقْدُرَةَ مَنْ اَخْافُ مَقْدُرَتَهٗ عَلَىَّ

WA MAQDORATA MAN AKHAAFO MAQDORATAHU A’LAYYA

and the authority of whom I anticipate to seize me,

وَتَرُدَّنِىْ عَنِّىْ كَيْدَ الْكَيَدَةِ وَمَكْرَ الْمَكَرَةِ

WA TARUDDA A’NNEE KAYDAL KAYDATE WA MAKRAL MAKRATE

and to ward off from me the trickeries of the deceivers and the cunning of the devious.

اَللّٰهُمَّ مَنْ اَرَادَنِىْ فَاَرِدْهُ

ALLAAHUMMA MAN ARAADANEE FA-ARIDHO

O Allah, stand for me against him who intends evil for me,

وَمَنْ كَادَنِىْ فَكِدْهُ

WA MAN KAADANEE FAKIDHO

intrigue against him who intends to conspire against me,

وَاصْرِفْ عَنِّىْ كَيْدَهٗ

WAS RIF A’NNEE KAYDAHU

turn away from me his trickeries,

وَمَكْرَهٗ وَبَآسَهٗ وَاَمَانِيَّهٗ

WA MAKRAHU WA BAASAHU WA AMAANIYYAHU

cunning, influence, and evil desires,

وَامْنَعْهُ عَنِّىْ كَيْفَ شِئْتَ وَاَنّٰى شِئْتَ

WAM-NA’-HO A’NNEE KAYFA SHEA-TA WA ANNAA SHEA-TA

and prevent him against me in any way You choose and at any time You choose.

اَللّٰهُمَّ اشْغَلْهُ عَنِّىْ بِفَقْرٍ لَا تَجْبُرُهٗ

ALLAHUMMASH-GHALHO A’NNEE BE-FAQRIN LAA TAJBOROHU

O Allah, (please) preoccupy him against me by means of poverty that You never cut down,

وَبِبَلَآءٍ لَا تَسْتُرُهٗ

WA BE-BALAAA-IN LAA TASTOROHU

ordeals that You never recover,

وَبِفَاقَةٍ لَا تَسُدُّهَا

WA BE-FAAQATIN LAA TASUDDOHAA

neediness that You never stop,

وَبِسُقْمٍ لَا تُعَافِيْهِ

WA BE-SUQMIN LAA TOA’AFEEHE

ailment that You never heal,

وَذُلٍّ لَا تُعِزُّهٗ

WA ZULLIN LAA TO-I’ZZOHU

humility that You never change into dignity,

وَبِمَسْكَنَةٍ لَا تَجْبُرُهَا

WA BE-MASKANATIN LAA TAJBOROHAA

and destitution that You never cut down.

اَللّٰهُمَّ اضْرِبْ بِالذُّلِّ نَصْبَ عَيْنَيْهِ

ALLAAHUMMAZ-RIB BIZ-ZULLE NASBA A’YNAYHE

O Allah, (please) strike him with humility in the center of his eyes,

وَاَدْخِلْ عَلَيْهِ الْفَقْرَ فِىْ مَنْزِلِهٖ

WA ADKHIL A’LAYHIL FAQRA FEE MANZELEHI

interleave poverty to his own house,

وَالْعِلَّةَ وَالسُّقْمَ فِىْ بَدَنِهٖ

WAL I’LLATA WAS SUQMA FEE BADANEHI

place ailment and disease in his body

حَتّٰى تَشْغَلَهٗ عَنِّىْ بِشُغْلٍ شَاغِلٍ لَا فَرَاغَ لَهٗ

HATTAA TASHGHALAHU A’NNEE BE-SHUGHLIN SHAAGHELIN LAA FARAAGHA LAHU

so that You will preoccupy him with an engrossing, relentless preoccupation,

وَاَنْسِهٖ ذِكْرِىْ

WA ANSEHI ZIKREE

make him fail to remember me

كَمَا اَنْسَيْتَهٗ ذِكْرَكَ

KAMAA ANSAYTAHU ZIKRAKA

in the same was as he has failed to remember You,

وَخُذْ عَنِّىْ بِسَمْعِهٖ

WA KHUZ A’NNEE BE-SAM-E’HI

divert from me his hearing,

وَبَصَرِهٖ وَلِسَانِهٖ وَيَدِهٖ

WA BASAREHI WA LESAANEHI WA YADEHI

sight, tongue, hand,

وَرِجْلِهٖ وَقَلْبِهٖ وَجَمِيْعِ جَوَارِحِهٖ

WA RIJLEHI WA QALBEHI WA JAMEE-E’ JAWAAREHEHI

leg, heart, and all of his organs,

وَاَدْخِلْ عَلَيْهِ فِىْ جَمِيْعِ ذٰلِكَ السُّقْمَ وَلَا تَشْفِهٖ

WA ADKHIL A’LAYHE FEE JAMEE-E’ ZAALEKAS SUQMA WA LAA TASHFEHI

place in him sickness in all these (organs), and do not heal him

حَتّٰى تَجْعَلَ ذٰلِكَ لَهٗ شُغْلًا شَاغِلًا بِهٖ عَنِّىْ

HATTAA TAJ-A’LA ZAALEKA LAHU SHUGHLAN SHAAGELAN BEHI A’NNEE

so that all these (sicknesses) will preoccupy him relentlessly from me

وَعَنْ ذِكْرِىْ

WA A’N ZIKREE

and from mentioning me.

وَاكْفِنِىْ يَا كَافِىَ مَا لَا يَكْفِىْ سِوَاكَ

WAK-FENEE YAA KAAFEYA MAA LAA YAKFEE SEWAAKA

And spare me, O Savior, from all that which cannot be spared by anyone other than You,

فَاِنَّكَ الْكَافِىْ لَا كَافِىَ سِوَاكَ

FA-INNAKAL KAAFEE LAA KAAFEYA SEWAAKA

for You are verily the Savior; and there is no savior other than You,

وَمُفَرِّجٌ لَا مُفَرِّجَ سِوَاكَ

WA MOFARREJUN LAA MOFARREJA SEWAAKA

You are verily the Reliever, and there is no reliever other than You,

وَمُغِيْثٌ لَا مُغِيْثَ سِوَاكَ

WA MOGHEESUN LAA MOGHEESA SEWAAKA

You are verily the Succorer, and there is no succorer other than You,

وَجَارٌ لَا جَارَ سِوَاكَ

WA JAARUN LAA JAARA SEWAAKA

and You are verily the Shelterer, and there is no shelterer other than You.

خَابَ مَنْ كَانَ جَارُهٗ سِوَاكَ وَمُغِيْثُهٗ سِوَاكَ

KHAABA MAN KAANA JAAROHU SEWAAKA WA MOGHEESOHU SEWAAKA

Disappointed is he whose shelterer is other than You, whose recourse to anywhere other than You,

وَمَفْزَعُهٗ اِلٰى سِوَاكَ

WA MAFZA-O’HU ELAA SEWAAKA

whose resort is anywhere other than You,

وَمَهْرَبُهٗ اِلٰى سِوَاكَ

WA MAHRABOHU ELAA SEWAAKA

whose way out is anywhere other than You,

وَمَلْجَاُهٗ اِلٰى غَيْرِكَ

WA MALJA-OHU ELAA GHAYREKA

whose haven is anywhere other than You,

وَمَنْجَاهُ مِنْ مَخْلُوْقٍ غَيْرَكَ

WA MANJAAHO MIN MAKHLOOQIN GHAYREKA

and whose savior from any created being is anyone other than You.

فَاَنْتَ ثِقَتِىْ وَرَجَآئِى

FA-ANTA SEQATEE WA RAJAAA-EE

You are verily my trust, my hope,

وَمَفْزَعِىْ وَمَهْرَبِىْ

WA MAFZA-E’E WA MAHRABEE

my resort, my way out,

وَمَلْجَائِىْ وَمَنْجَاىَ

WA MALJAA-EE WA MANJAAYA

my haven, and my savior.

فَبِكَ اَستَفْتِحُ

FA-BEKA ASTAFTEHO

With You do I commence

وَبِكَ اَسْتَنْجِحُ

WA BEKA ASTANJEHU

and through You do I seek success.

وَبِمُحَمَّدٍ وَّاٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

WA BE-MOHAMMADIN WA AALE MOHAMMADIN

In the name of Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad

اَتَوَجَّهُ اِلَيْكَ وَاَتَوَسَّلُ وَاَتَشَفَّعُ

ATAWAJJAHO ELAYKA WA ATAWASSALO WA ATASHAFFA-O’

do I turn my face towards You, seek means to You, and seek intercession to You.

فَاَسْئَلُكَ يَا اَللهُ يَا اَللهُ يَا اَللهُ

FA AS-ALOKA YAA ALLAAHO YAA ALLAAHO YAA ALLAAHO

So, I beseech You, O Allah! O Allah! O Allah!

فَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ وَلَكَ الشُّكْرُ

FALAKAL HAMDO WA LAKASH SHUKRO

Yours is all praise and Yours is all thanks.

وَاِلَيْكَ الْمُشْتَكىٰ

WA ELAYKAL MUSHTAKAA

To You is my complaint

وَاَنْتَ الْمُسْتَعَانُ

WA ANTAL MUSTA-A’ANO

and You are the Besought for help.

فَاَسْئَلُكَ يَا اَللهُ يَا اَللهُ يَا اَللهُ

FA-AS-ALOKA YAA ALLAAHO YAA ALLAAHO YAA ALLAAHO

So, I beseech You, O Allah! O Allah! O Allah!

بِحَقِّ مُحَمَّدٍ وَّاٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

BEHAQQE MOHAMMADIN WA AALE MOHAMMADIN

In the name of Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad

اَنْ تُصَلِّىَ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّاٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

AN TOSALLEYA A’LAA MOHAMMADIN WA AALE MOHAMMADIN

to send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad

وَاَنْ تَكْشِفَ عَنِّىْ غَمِّىْ وَهَمِّىْ وَكَرْبِىْ

WA AN TAKSHEFA A’NNEE GHAMMEE WA HAMMEE WA KARBEE

and to relieve my distress, grief, and agony

فِىْ مَقَامِىْ هٰذَا

FEE MAQAAMEE HAAZAA

in this situation of mine

كَمَا كَشَفْتَ عَنْ نَبِيِّكَ هَمَّهٗ وَغَمَّهٗ وَكَرْبَهٗ

KAMAA KASHAFTA A’N NABIYYEKA HAMMAHU WA GHAMMAHU WA KARBAHU

in the same way as You have relieved the distress, grief, and agony of Your Prophet

وَكَفَيْتَهٗ هَوْلَ عَدُوِّهٖ

WA KAFAYTAHU HAWLA A’DUWWEHI

and saved him from the horrors of his enemy.

فَاكْشِفْ عَنِّىْ كَمَا كَشَفْتَ عَنْهُ

FAK-SHIF A’NNEE KAMAA KASHAFTA A’NHO

So, (please) relieve me in the same way as You did to him,

وَفَرِّجْ عَنِّىْ كَمَا فَرَّجْتَ عَنْهُ

WA FARRIJ A’NNEE KAMAA FARRAJTA A’NHO

dispel my worries in the same way as You did to him,

وَاكْفِنِىْ كَمَا كَفَيْتَهٗ

WAK FENEE KAMAA KAFAYTAHU

save me in the same way as You did to him,

وَاصْرِفْ عَنِّىْ هَوْلَ مَا اَخَافُ هَوْلَهٗ

WAS-RIF A’NNEE HAWLA MAA AKHAAFO HAWLAHU

drive away from me the horror of what I anticipate to horrify me,

وَمَؤُنَةَ مَا اَخَافُ مَؤُنَتَهٗ

WA MA-OONATA MAA AKHAAFO MA-OONATAHU

the encumbrance of what I anticipate to overburden me,

وَهَمَّ مَا اَخَافُ هَمَّهٗ

WA HAMMA MAA AKHAAFO HAMMAHU

and the distress of what I anticipate to distress me

بِلَا مَؤُنَةٍ عَلٰى نَفْسِىْ مِنْ ذٰلِكَ

BELAA MA-OONATIN A’LAA NAFSEE MIN ZAALEKA

without making me suffer any encumbrance due to all that.

وَاصْرِفْنِىْ بِقَضَآءِ حَوَآئِجِىْ

WAS RIFNEE BE-QAZAA-E HAWAA-EJEE

And make me leave having all my requests granted

وَكِفَايَةِ مَا اَهَمَّنِىْ هَمُّهٗ

WA KEFAAYATI MAA AHAMMANEE HAMMOHU

and having all my distresses relieved,

مِنْ اَمْرِ اٰخِرَتِىْ وَدُنْيَاىَ

MIN AMRE AAKHERATEE WA DUNYAAYA

including the affairs of this world and the Hereafter.

يَا اَمِيْرَ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ

YAA AMEERAL MO-MINEENA

O Commander of the Faithful!

وَيَا اَبَا عَبْدِ اللهِ

WA YAA ABAA A’BDIL LAAHE

O Aba Abdillah!

عَلَيْكُمَا مِنِّىْ سَلَامُ اللهِ اَبَدًا

A’LAYKOMAA MINNEE SALAAMUL LAAHE ABADAM

Peace of Allah be upon you both from me forever

مَّا بَقِيْتُ وَبَقِىَ اللَّيْلُ وَالنَّهَارُ

MAA BAQEETO WA BAQEYAL LAYLO WAN NAHAARO

as long as I am existent and as long as there are day and night.

وَلَا جَعَلَهُ اللهُ اٰخِرَ الْعَهْدِ مِنْ زِيَارَتِكُمَا

WA LAA JA-A’LAHUL LAAHO AAKHERAL A’HDE MIN ZEYAARATEKOMAA

May Allah not decide this time of my visit to you both to be the last.

وَلَا فَرَّقَ اللهُ بَيْنِىْ وَبَيْنَكُمَا

WA LAA FARRAQAL LAAHO BAYNEE WA BAYNAKOMAA

May Allah never separate me from you both.

اَللّٰهُمَّ اَحْيِنِىْ حَيٰوةَ مُحَمَّدٍ وَذُرِّيَّتِهٖ

ALLAAHUMMA AHYENEE HAYAATA MOHAMMADIN WA ZURRIYYATEHI

O Allah, (please) make me live the same lifestyle that Muhammad and his offspring lived,

وَاَمِتْنِىْ مَمَاتَهُمْ

WA AMITNEE MAMAATAHUM

make me die on the same faith on which they died,

وَتَوَفَّنِىْ عَلٰى مِلَّتِهِمْ

WA TAWAFFANEE A’LAA MILLATEHIM

receive my soul while I am following their religion,

وَاحْشُرْنِىْ فِىْ زُمْرَتِهِمْ

WAH SHURNEE FEE ZUMRATEHIM

include me with their group,

وَلَا تُفَرِّقْ بَيْنِىْ وَبَيْنَهُمْ

WA LAA TOFARRIQ BAYNEE WA BAYNAHUM

and never separate me from them

طَرْفَةَ عَيْنٍ اَبَدًا فِىْ الدُّنْيَا وَالْاٰخِرَةِ

TARFATA A’YNIN ABADAN FID DUNYAA WAL AAKHERATE

not for even a winking of any eye in this world and in the Hereafter.

يَا اَمِيْرَ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ

YAA AMEERAL MOMINEENA

O Commander of the Faithful!

وَيَا اَبَا عَبْدِ اللهِ

WA YAA ABAA A’BDILLAHE

O Aba Abdillah!

اَتَيْتُكُمَا زَآئِرًا

ATAYTOKOMAA ZAA-ERAN

I have come to you both to visit you,

وَمُتَوَسِّلًا اِلَى اللهِ رَبِّىْ وَرَبِّكُمَا

WA MOTAWASSELAN ELAL LAAHE RABBEE WA RABBEKOMAA

making both of you to be my means to Allah your and my Lord,

وَمُتَوَجِّهًا اِلَيْهِ بِكُمَا

WA MOTAWAJJEHAN ILAYHE BEKOMAA

turning my face to Him in your names,

وَمُسْتَشْفِعًا بِكُمَا اِلَى اللهِ تَعَالٰى

WA MUSTASHFE-A’N BEKOMAA ELALLAHE TA-A’ALAA

and seeking your intercession for me with Allah All-exalted

فِىْ حَاجَتِىْ هٰذِهٖ

FEE HAAJATEE HAAZEHI

to grant me this request of mine;

فَاشْفَعَا لِىْ

FASH-FA’A LEE

so, intercede for me,

فَاِنَّ لَكُمَا عِنْدَ اللهِ الْمَقَامَ الْمَحْمُوْدَ

FA-INNA LAKOMAA I’NDALLAAHIL MAQAAMAL MAHMOODA

since you both enjoy with Allah a praiseworthy position,

وَالْجَاهَ الْوَجِيْهَ

WAL JAAHAL WAJEEHA

an admissible status,

وَالْمَنْزِلَ الرَّفِيْعَ وَالْوَسِيْلَةَ

WAL MANZELAR RAFEE-A’ WAL WASEELATA

a lofty standing, and a means (of nearness to Him).

اِنِّىْ اَنْقَلِبُ عَنْكُمَا مُنْتَظِرًا

INNEE ANQALEBO A’NKOMAA MUNTAZERAN

I will now leave you both,

لِتَنَجُّزِ الْحَاجَةِ وَقَضَآئِهَا

LE-TANAJJOZIL HAAJATE WA QAZAAA-EHAA

expecting my request to be granted, settled,

وَنَجَاحِهَا مِنَ اللهِ بِشَفَاعَتِكُمَا لِىْ اِلَى اللهِ فِىْ ذٰلِكَ

WA NAJAAHEHAA MENAL LAAHE BE-SHAFAA-A’TEKOMAA LEE ELAL LAAHE FEE ZAALEKA

and made successful by Allah on account of your intercession for me with Allah in that;

فَلَآ اَخِيْبُ وَلَا يَكُوْنُ مُنْقَلَبِىْ مُنْقَلَبًا خَآئِبًا خَاسِرًا

FA-LAA AKHEEBO WA LAA YAKOONO MUNQALABEE MUNQALABAN KHAA-EBAN KHAASERAN

so, do not let me down and do not make me leave with disappointment and loss;

بَلْ يَكُوْنُ مُنْقَلَبِىْ مُنْقَلَبًا رَاجِحًا مُفْلِحًا مُنْجِحًا مُسْتَجَابًا

BAL YAKOONO MUNQALABEE MUNQALABAN RAAJEHAN MUFLEHAN MUSTAJAABAN

rather, make me leave with achievement, prosperity, success, and response (of my prayers)

بِقَضَآءِ جَمِيْعِ حَوَآئِجِىْ

BE-QAZAA-E JAMEE-E’ HAWAA-EJEE

by having all my requests granted.

وَتَشَفَّعَا لِىْ اِلَى اللهِ

WA TASHAFFA-A’A LEE ELAL LAAHE

And (please) intercede for me with Allah recurrently.

انْقَلَبْتُ عَلٰى مَا شَآءَ اللهُ

INQALABTO A’LAA MAA SHAAA ALLAAHO

I now leave on ‘whatever is willed by Allah shall come to pass’

وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ اِلَّا بِاللهِ

WA LAA HAWLA WA LAA QUWWATA ILLAA BILLAAHE

and ‘there is neither might nor power except with Allah’,

مُفَوِّضًا اَمْرِىْ اِلَى اللهِ

MOFAWWEZ AN AMREE ELLAL LAAHE

relegating all my affairs to Allah,

مُلْجِاً ظَهْرِىْ اِلَى اللهِ

MULJE-AN ZAHREE ELAL LAAHE

referring all my power to Allah,

مُتَوَكِّلًا عَلَى اللهِ

MOTAWAKKELAN A’LAL LAAHE

depending upon Allah,

وَاَقُوْلُ حَسْبِىَ اللهُ وَكَفٰى

WA AQOOLO HASBEYAL LAAHO WA KAFAA

and repeating, ‘Allah is only sufficient to me,’

سَمِعَ اللهُ لِمَنْ دَعٰى

SAME-A’L LAAHO LEMAN DA-A’A

and ‘May Allah respond to him who prays Him.’

لَيْسَ لِىْ وَرَآءَ اللهِ وَوَرَآئَكُمْ

LAYSA LEE WARAA-ALLAAHE WA WARAA-AKUM

Other than Allah and other than you all,

يَا سَادَتِىْ مُنْتَهٰى مَا شَآءَ رَبِّى كَانَ

YAA SAADATEE MUNTAHAA MAA SHAA-A RABBEE KAANA

O my masters, I have nothing to put my hope in. Only that which my Lord wills shall come to pass,

وَمَا لَمْ يَشَاْ لَمْ يَكُنْ

WA MAA LAM YASHAA LAM YAKUN

and whatever He does not will shall never be.

وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ اِلَّا بِاللهِ

WA LAA HAWLA WA LAA QUWWATA ILLAA BILLAAHE

There is neither might nor power except with Allah.

اَسْتَوْدِعُكُمَا اللهَ

ASTAWDEO’KOMAL LAAHA

I entrust you both with Allah.

وَلَا جَعَلَهُ اللهُ اٰخِرَ الْعَهْدِ مِنِّىْ اِلَيْكُمَا

WA LAA JA-A’LAHUL LAAHO AAKHERAL A’HDE MINNEE ELAYKOMAA

May Allah never decide this time of my visit to you both to be the last.

اِنْصَرَفْتُ يَا سَيِّدِىْ

INSARAFTO YAA SAYYEDEE

May I now leave, O my master,

يَا اَمِيْرَ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ وَمَوْلَاىَ

YAA AMEERAL MOMINEENA

O Commander of the faithful

وَاَنْتَ يَا اَبَا عَبْدِ اللهِ

WA MAWLAAYA WA ANTA YAA ABAA A’BDIL LAAHE

and you O Abu Abdullih,

يَا سَيِّدِىْ وَسَلَامِىْ عَلَيْكُمَا

YAA SAYYEDEE WA SALAAMEE A’LAYKOMAA

O my master. My greetings to you both

مُتَّصِلٌ مَا اتَّصَلَ اللَّيْلُ وَالنَّهَارُ

MUTTASELUN MAT-TASALAL LAYLO WAN NAHAARO

are as continuous as night and day.

وَاصِلٌ ذٰلِكَ اِلَيْكُمَا غَيْرُ مَحْجُوْبٍ عَنْكُمَا سَلَامِىْ اِنْشَآءَ اللهُ

WAASELUN ZAALEKA ELAYKOMAA GHAYRO MAHJOOBIN A’NKOMAA SALAAMEE INSHAA-AL LAAHO

May my greetings reach you both (all the time) and my salutation never be screened from reaching you both, Allah willing.

وَاَسْئَلُهٗ بِحَقِّكُمَا اَنْ يَشَآءَ ذٰلِكَ

WA AS-ALOHU BE-HAQQEKOMAA AN YASHAA-A ZAALEKA

I also beseech Him in your names to determine and do that,

وَيَفْعَلَ فَاِنَّهٗ حَمِيْدٌ مَجِيْدٌ ۟

WA YAF-A’LA FA-INNAHU HAMEEDUN MAJEEDUN

for He is verily the owner of praise and the owner of glory.

انْقَلَبْتُ يَا سَيِّدَىَّ عَنْكُمَا

INQALABTO YAA SAYYEDAYYA A’NKOMAA

I am now leaving you both, O my masters,

تَآئِبًا حَامِدًا لِلّٰهِ شَاكِرًا رَاجِيًا لِلْاِجَابَةِ

TAAA-EBAN HAAMEDAN LILLAAHE SHAAKERAN RAAJEYAN LIL-EJAABATE

repenting to and praising Allah, and thanking Him and hoping Him to respond to me;

غَيْرَ اٰيِسٍ وَلَا قَانِطٍ

GHAYRA AAYESIN WA LAA QAANETIN

I neither despair nor lose hope,

آئِبًا عَآئِدًا رَاجِعًا اِلَى زِيَارَتِكُمَا

AA-EBAN A’A-EDAN RAAJE-A’N ELAA ZEYAARATEKOMAA

and I intend to come back, return, revisit you both,

غَيْرَ رَاغِبٍ عَنْكُمَا وَلَا مِنْ زِيَارَتِكُمَا

GHAYRA RAAGHEBIN A’NKOMAA WA LAA MIN ZEYAARATEKOMAA

while I have never desired to leave you or to abandon visiting you;

بَلْ رَاجِعٌ عَآئِدٌ اِنْشَآءَ اللهُ

BAL RAAJE-U’N A’AA-EDUN INSHAAA ALLAAHO

rather, I shall return and come back, if Allah wills.

وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ اِلَّا بِاللهِ

WA LAA HAWLA WA LAA QUWWATA ILLAA BILLAAHE

There is neither might nor power except with Allah.

يَا سَادَتِىْ رَغِبْتُ اِلَيْكُمَا

YAA SAADATEE RAGHIBTO ELAYKOMAA

O my masters, I do desire for both of you

وَاِلٰى زَيَارَتِكُمَا بَعْدَ اَنْ زَهِدَ فِيْكُمَا

WA ELAA ZEYAARATEKOMAA BA’-DA AN ZAHEDA FEEKOMAA

and for visiting you although the people of this world (may) abandon you both

وَفِىْ زِيَارَتِكُمَا اَهْلُ الدُّنْيَا

WA FEE ZEYAARATEKOMAA AHLUD DUNYAA

or abandon visiting you.

فَلَا خَيَّبَنِىَ اللهُ مَا رَجَوْتُ

FALAA KHAYYABANE-YAL LAAHO MAA RAJAWTO

May Allah never make me fail to attain what I have hoped

وَمَا اَمَّلْتُ فِىْ زِيَارَتِكُمَا

WA MAA AMMALTO FEE ZEYAARATEKOMAA

and desired in visiting you both.

اِنَّهٗ قَرِيْبٌ مُجِيْبٌ.

INNAHU QAREEBUN MOJEEBUN

Verily, He is All-nigh, All-responding.
