Daily supplications of Rajab

Text and Translation

Second: It is recommended to say the following supplicatory prayer that Imam Ja’far al-Sadiq (a.s.) used to say everyday in Rajab:

خَابَ الْوَافِدُوْنَ عَلٰى غَيْرِكَ

KHAABAL WAAFEDOONA A’LAA GHAYREKA

Those who approach other than You are disappointed.

وَخَسِرَ الْمُتَعَرِّضُوْنَ اِلَّا لَكَ

WA KHASERAL MOTA-A’RREZOONA ILLAA LAKA

Those who try to gain the favour of other than You are losers;

وَضَاعَ الْمُلِمُّوْنَ اِلَّا بِكَ

WA ZAA-A’L MOLIMMOONA ILLAA BEKA

those who make other than You the goal of their journey perish;

وَاَجْدَبَ الْمُنْتَجِعُوْنَ اِلَّا مَنِ انْتَجَعَ فَضْلَكَ

WA AJDABAL MUNTAJE-O’ONA ILLAA MANIN TAJA-A’ FAZLAKA

and all except those who seek resort in Your grace face desolation

بَابُكَ مَفْتُوْحٌ لِلرَّاغِبِيْنَ

BAABOKA MAFTOOHUL LIR-RAAGHEBEENA

Your door is open for the seekers

وَخَيْرُكَ مَبْذُوْلٌ لِلطَّالِبِيْنَ

WA KHAYROKA MABZOOLUL LIT-TAALEBEENA

and your boons are given to those who seek them,

وَفَضْلُكَ مُبَاحٌ لِلسَّاۤئِلِيْنَ

WA FAZLOKA MOBAAHUN LIS-SAAA-ELEENA

and Your grace is freely available to those who ask for it,

وَنَيْلُكَ مُتَاحٌ لِلْآمِلِيْنَ

WA NAYLOKA MOTAAHUN LIL-AAMELEENA

Access to You is granted to those who hope for it!

وَرِزْقُكَ مَبْسُوْطٌ لِمَنْ عَصَاكَ

WA RIZQOKA MABSOOTUN LEMAN A’SAAKA

Your sustenance is extended for even those who disobey You.

وَحِلْمُكَ مُعْتَرِضٌ لِمَنْ نَاوَاكَ

WA HILMOKA MO’TAREZOON LEMAN NAAWAAKA

Your forbearance extends to those who antagonize You.

عَادَتُكَ الْاِحْسَانُ اِلَى الْمُسِيْئِيْنَ

A-A’DATOKAL EHSAANO ELAL MOSEE-EENA

Your habit is to do favor to the wrongdoers

وَسَبِيْلُكَ الْاِبْقَاءُ عَلَى الْمُعْتَدِيْنَ

WA SABEELOKAL IBQAAA-O A’LAL MO’TADEENA

and Your way is to be benevolent to the transgressors.

اَللّٰهُمَّ فَاهْدِنِي هُدَى الْمُهْتَدِيْنَ

ALLAAHUMMA FAHDENEE HODAL MOHTADEENA

O Allah, so (lovingly) guide me with guidance enjoyed by the rightly-guided,

وَارْزُقْنِي اجْتِهَادَ الْمُجْتَهِدِيْنَ

WAR ZUQNEE IJTEHAADAL MUJTAHEDEENA

and enable me to strive like the diligent,

وَلَا تَجْعَلْنِي مِنَ الْغَافِلِيْنَ الْمُبْعَدِيْنَ

WA LAA TAJ-A’LNEE MENAL GHAAFELEENAL MUB-A’DEENA

do not place me with the negligent who are kept at a distance from You

وَاغْفِرْ لِيْ يَوْمَ الدِّينِ.

WAGH-FIR LEE YAWMAD DEENE.

and forgive me on the Day of Retribution.

Third: In his book of al-Misbah, Shaykh al-Tusi mentions that al-Mu’alla ibn Khunays has reported Imam Ja’far al-Sadiq (a.s.) as saying, “In Rajab, you may say the following supplicatory prayer:

اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّيْ اَسْاَلُكَ صَبْرَ الشَّاكِرِيْنَ لَكَ

ALLAAHUMMA INNEE AS-ALOKA SABRASH SHAAKEREENA LAKA

O Allah, I implore You to grant me the patience of those who always thank You,

وَعَمَلَ الْخَاۤئِفِيْنَ مِنْكَ

WA A’MALAL KHAAA-EFEENA MINKA

the efforts of those who fear You,

وَيَقِيْنَ الْعَابِدِيْنَ لَكَ

WA YAQEENAL A’ABEDEENA LAKA

and the conviction of those who worship You devoutly.

اَللّٰهُمَّ اَنْتَ الْعَلِيُّ الْعَظِيْمُ

ALLAAHUMMA ANTAL A’LIYYUL A’ZEEMO

O Allah, You are the Most High, the All-Supreme,

وَاَنَا عَبْدُكَ الْبَاۤئِسُ الْفَقِيْرُ

WA ANAA A’BDOKAL BAAA-ESUL FAQEERO

and I am Your servant—the destitute and the needy.

اَنْتَ الْغَنِيُّ الْحَمِيدُ

ANTAL GHANIYYUL HAMEEDO

You are the Self-Sufficient, the Praised,

وَاَنَا الْعَبْدُ الذَّلِيْلُ

WA ANAA A’BDUZ ZALEELO

and I am the abject and lowly servant.

اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَاٰلِهٖ

ALLAAHUMMA SALE A’LAA MOHAMMADIN WA AALEHI

O Allah, bless Muhammad and his Household

وَامْنُنْ بِغِنَاكَ عَلٰی فَقْرِيْ

WAM-NUN BE-GHENAAKA A’LAA FAQREE

and favour me with Your sufficiency upon my poverty,

وَبِحِلْمِكَ عَلٰى جَهْلِيْ

WA BE-HILMEKA A’LAA JAHLEE

and with Your forbearance upon my ignorance,

وَبِقُوَّتِكَ عَلٰى ضَعْفِيْ

WA BE-QUWWATEKA A’LAA ZA’FEE

and with Your strength on my weakness,

يَا قَوِيُّ يَا عَزِيْزُ

YAA QAWIYYO YAA A’ZEEZO

O All-Strong, O Almighty.

اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَاٰلِهِ

ALLAAHUMMA SALLE A’LAA MOHAMMADIN WA AALEHIL

O Allah, bless Muhammad and his Household;

الْاَوْصِيَاءِ الْمَرْضِيِّيْنَ

AWSEYAAA-IL MARZIYYEENA

the Successors (of prophet hood) and the Pleased;

وَاكْفِنِيْ مَا اَهَمَّنِيْ مِنْ اَمْرِ الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ

WAK-FENEE MAA AHAMMANEE MIN AMRID DUNYAA WAL AAKHERATE

and suffice me from whatever aggrieves me from the affairs pertaining to the world and the Hereafter.

يَا اَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِيْنَ.

YAA ARHAMAR RAAHEMEENA.

O most Merciful of all those who show mercy!

The previously mentioned supplicatory prayer has been also mentioned by Sayyid Ibn Tawus al-Hasani in his book of Iqbal al-A’mal. According to the narration, this supplicatory prayer is the most comprehensive and it is advisable to repeat it any time.

Fourth: Shaykh al-Tusi has also mentioned that the following supplicatory prayer is advisedly repeated each day in Rajab:

اَللّٰهُمَّ يَا ذَا الْمِنَنِ السَّابِغَةِ

ALLAAHUMMA YAA ZAL MENANIS SAABEGHATE

O Allah, the Lord of the complete favors,

وَالْآلَاءِ الْوَازِعَةِ

WAL AALAAIL WAAZE-A’TE

the utter bounties,

وَالرَّحْمَةِ الْوَاسِعَةِ

WAR RAHMATIL WAASEA’TE,

the immense mercy,

وَالْقُدْرَةِ الْجَامِعَةِ

WAL QUDRATIL JAAME-A’TE

and all-encompassing power,

وَالنِّعَمِ الْجَسِيْمَةِ

WAN NEA’AMIL JASEEMATE

and the immense blessings,

وَالْمَوَاهِبِ الْعَظِيْمَةِ

WAL MAWAAHEBIL A’ZEEMATE

and the great gifts,

وَالْاَيَادِي الْجَمِيْلَةِ

WAL AYAADIL JAMEELATE

and the elegant boons,

وَالْعَطَايَا الْجَزِيْلَةِ

WAL A’TAAYAL JAZEELATE

and plentiful rewards!

يَا مَنْ لَا يُنْعَتُ بِتَمْثِيْلٍ

YAA MAN LAA YUN-A’TO BE-TAMSEELIN

O He Who cannot be described by any analogy,

وَلَا يُمَثَّلُ بِنَظِيْرٍ

WA LAA YOMASSALO BE-NAZEERIN

nor compared with any like,

وَلَا يُغْلَبُ بِظَهِيْرٍ

WA LAA YUGHLABO BE-ZAHEERIN

and nor overcome with the help of any supporter.

يَا مَنْ خَلَقَ فَرَزَقَ

YAA MAN KHALAQA FA-RAZAQA

O He Who created and then granted sustenance,

وَاَلْهَمَ فَاَنْطَقَ

WA ALHAMA FA-ANTAQA

and inspired (them) and then endowed them with speech,

وَابْتَدَعَ فَشَرَعَ

WAB TADA-A’ FA-SHARA-A’,

and originated (the creation) and then initiated it,

وَعَلَا فَارْتَفَعَ

WA A’LAA FARTAFA-A’,

transcended it and then surmounted it,

وَقَدَّرَ فَاَحْسَنَ

WA QADDARA FA-AHSANA,

and determined it in an excellent form,

وَصَوَّرَ فَاَتْقَنَ

WA SAWWARA FA-ATQANA,

and then formed it in a perfect manner,

وَاحْتَجَّ فَاَبْلَغَ

WAH TAJJA FA-ABLAGHA,

and advanced conclusive proofs,

وَاَنْعَمَ فَاَسْبَغَ

WA AN-A’MA FA-ASBAGHA,

and blessed abundantly,

وَاَعْطٰى فَاَجْزَلَ

WA A-A’TAA FA-AJZALA,

and rewarded plenteously,

وَمَنَحَ فَاَفْضَلَ

WA MANAHA FA-AFZALA

and conferred gracious gifts!

يَا مَنْ سَمَا فِي الْعِزِّ

YAA MAN SAMAA FIL-I’ZZE

O He Who is so lofty in might

فَفَاتَ نَوَاظِرَ الْاَبْصَارِ

FA-FAATA NAWAAZERAL ABSAARE,

so he eludes the gaze of the creatures' eyes,

وَدَنَا فِي اللُّطْفِ

WA DANAA FIL LUTFE

and so close in affection

فَجَازَ هَوَاجِسَ الْاَفْكَارِ

FA-JAAZA HAWAAJESAL AFKAARE

so as to ascend all notions of thought!

يَا مَنْ تَوَحَّدَ بِالْمُلْكِ

YAA MAN TAWAHHADA BIL-MULKE

O He Who is the sole sovereign of His dominion

فَلَا نِدَّ لَهٗ فِىْ مَلَكُوْتِ سُلْطَانِهٖ

FALAA NIDDA LAHU FEE MALAKOOTE SULTAANEHI

that no peer can ever be found for Him in the realms of His power

وَتَفَرَّدَ بِالْآلَاءِ وَالْكِبْرِيَاءِ

WA TAFARRADA BIL-AALAAA-E WAL-KIBREYAA-E

and has been so matchless in bounties and supremacy

فَلَا ضِدَّ لَهٗ فِیْ جَبَرُوْتِ شَاْنِهٖ

FALAA ZIDDA LAHU FEE JABAROOTE SHAANEHI

that nothing can oppose Him in the omnipotence of His situation!

يَا مَنْ حَارَتْ فِي كِبْرِيَاءِ هَيْبَتِهٖ دَقَاۤئِقُ لَطَاۤئِفِ الْاَوْهَامِ

YAA MAN HAARATA FEE KIBREYAA-E HAYBATEHI DAQAAEQO LATAAEFIL AWHAAME

O He the greatness of whose awe, bewilders the intricate subtleties of the imagination

وَانْحَسَرَتْ دُوْنَ اِدْرَاكِ عَظَمَتِهٖ خَطَاۤئِفُ اَبْصَارِ الْاَنَامِ

WAN HASARAT DOONA IDRAAKE A’ZAMATEHI KHATAAEFO ABSAARIL ANAAME.

and before Whose greatness are wearied the glances of the eyes of the worlds inhabitants!

يَا مَنْ عَنَتِ الْوُجُوْهُ لِهَيْبَتِهٖ

YAA MAN A’NATIL WOJOOHO LE-HAYBATEHI,

O He before Whose Awe all faces have humbled themselves,

وَخَضَعَتِ الرِّقَابُ لِعَظَمَتِهٖ

WA KHAZA-A’TIR REQAABO LE-A’ZAMATEHI,

to His greatness all necks bend,

وَوَجِلَتِ الْقُلُوْبُ مِنْ خِيْفَتِهٖ

WA WAJELATIL QOLOOBO MIN KHEEFATEHI

and His fear makes the hearts quake!

اَسْاَلُكَ بِهٰذِهِ الْمِدْحَةِ الَّتِىْ لَا تَنْبَغِيْ اِلَّا لَكَ

AS-ALOKA BEHAAZEIL MIDHATIL LATEE LAA TAMBAGHEE ILLAA LAKA

I beseech You in the name of this piece of praise which suits none but You,

وَبِمَا وَاَيْتَ بِهٖ عَلٰى نَفْسِكَ

WA BEMAA WA AYTA BEHI A’LAA NAFSEKA

and by the promise which You have made incumbent upon Yourself

لِدَاعِيْكَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ

LE-DAA-E’EKA MENAL MOAMENEENA

for the believers who call upon You,

وَبِمَا ضَمِنْتَ الْاِجَابَةَ فِيْهِ عَلٰى نَفْسِكَ لِلدَّاعِيْنَ

WA BEMAA ZAMINTAL EJAABATA FEEHE A’LAA NAFSEKA LID-DAA-E’ENA

and by the assurance You have given to answer the appeals of those who supplicate to You.

يَا اَسْمَعَ السَّامِعِيْنَ

YAA ASMA-A’S SAME-E’ENA,

O the sharpest of listeners!

وَاَبْصَرَ النَّاظِرِيْنَ

WA ABSARAN NAAZEREENA,

and the keenest of observers!

وَاَسْرَعَ الْحَاسِبِيْنَ

WA ASRA-A’L HAASEBEENA,

and the swiftest of reckoners!

يَا ذَا الْقُوَّةِ الْمَتِيْنَ

YAA ZAL QUWWATIL MATEENA

O Powerful and All-strong!

صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ خَاتَمِ النَّبِيِّيْنَ

SALLE A’LAA MOHAMMADIN KHAATAMIN NABIYYEENA

bless Muhammad, the seal of the Prophets,

وَعَلٰى اَهْلِ بَيْتِهٖ

WA A’LAA AHLE BAYTEHI

and his Household,

وَاقْسِمْ لِيْ فِیْ شَهْرِنَا هٰذَا خَيْرَ مَا قَسَمْتَ

WAQ SIM LEE FEE SHAHRENAA HAAZAA KHAYRA MAA QASAMTA

and allot for me in this month of ours the best of what You have allotted to anyone,

وَاحْتِمْ لِيْ فِیْ قَضَاۤئِكَ خَيْرَ مَا حَتَمْتَ

WAH TIM LEE FEE QAZAAEKA KHAYRA MAA HATAMTA,

and ordain for me in Your ordainments the best of what You have ordained for anyone,

وَاخْتِمْ لِیْ بِالسَّعَادَةِ فِيْمَنْ خَتَمْتَ

WAKH TIM LEE BIS-SA-A’ADATE FEEMAN KHATAMTA

seal my life with happiness with which You seal the lives of others,

وَاَحْيِنِيْ مَا اَحْيَيْتَنِيْ مَوْفُوْرًا

WA AHYENEE MAA AHYAYTANEE MAWFOORAN

Give me a prosperous life, so long as You keep me alive,

وَاَمِتْنِيْ مَسْرُوْرًا وَمَغْفُوْرًا

WA AMITNEE MASROORAN WA MAGHFOORAN

and grant me to die happy and forgiven,

وَتَوَلَّ اَنْتَ نَجَاتِیْ مِنْ مُسَائَلَةِ الْبَرْزَخِ

WA TAWALLA ANTA NAJAATEE MIN MOSAA-ALATIL BARZAKHE

You assume the charge of my deliverance during the questioning in the purgatory,

وَادْرَاْ عَنِّیْ مُنْكَرًا وَنَكِيْرًا

WADRAA A’NNEE MUNKARAN WA NAKEERAN,

and spare me from Munkar and Nakir,

وَاَرِ عَيْنِيْ مُبَشِّرًا وَّبَشِيْرًا

WA ARE A’YNEE MOBASHSHERANW WA BASHEERANW,

and make Mubashshir and Bashir appear before my eyes,

وَّاجْعَلْ لِيْ اِلٰى رِضْوَانِكَ وَجِنَانِكَ مَصِيْرًا

WAJ A’L LEE ELAA RIZWAANEKA WA JENAANEKA MASEERAN

let my return be toward Your pleasure and paradise,

وَعَيْشًا قَرِيْرًا

WA A’YSHAN QAREERAN,

and grant me a happy life,

وَمُلْكًا كَبِيْرًا

WA MULKAN KABEERAN,

and a big kingdom,

وَصَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَاٰلِهٖ كَثِيْرًا

WA SALLE A’LAA MOHAMMADINW WA AALEHI KASEERAA.

and bless Muhammad and his Household very much.

This supplicatory prayer is also advisably said in Masjid Sa’sa’ah.

Fifth: Shaykh al-Tusi has narrated that the following holy Signature of Imam al-Mahdi(a.s.) was conveyed to the grand Shaykh Abu-Ja’far Muhammad ibn ‘Uthman ibn Sa’id:

On each day in Rajab, you may say the following supplicatory prayer:

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

BISMILLAAHIR RAHMAANIR RAHEEM.

In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.

اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّىْ اَسْاَلُكَ بِمَعَانِىْ جَمِيْعِ مَا يَدْعُوْكَ بِهٖ وُلَاةُ اَمْرِكَ

ALLAAHUMMA INNEE ASALOKA BE-MA-A’ANEE JAMEE-E’ MAA YADO’OKA BEHI WOLAATO AMREKAL

O Allah, I beseech You by the meanings of all the supplications of those whom You have invested with Your authority,

الْمَاْمُوْنُوْنَ عَلٰى سِرِّكَ

MAAMOONOONA A’LAA SIRREKAL

the trustees of Your secret,

الْمُسْتَبْشِرُوْنَ بِاَمْرِكَ

MUSTABSHEROONA BE-AMREKAL,

those who rejoice in Your command,

الْوَاصِفُوْنَ لِقُدْرَتِكَ

WAASEFOONA LEQUDRATEKAL,

the describers of Your power,

الْمُعْلِنُوْنَ لِعَظَمَتِكَ

MO’LENOONA LE-A’ZAMATEKA,

the proclaimers of Your supremacy.

اَسْاَلُكَ بِمَا نَطَقَ فِيْهِمْ مِنْ مَشِيَّتِكَ

ASALOKA BEMAA NATAQA HEEHIM MIM MASHIYYATEKA

I implore You by Your will that has manifested itself through them

فَجَعَلْتَهُمْ مَعَادِنَ لِكَلِمَاتِكَ

FA-JA’ALTAHUM MA-A’ADENA LEKALEMAATEKA

and thus You have made them the essences of Your Words,

وَاَرْكَانًا لِتَوْحِيْدِكَ

WA ARKAANAN LE-TAWHEEDAKA

the pillars of Your Oneness,

وَآيَاتِكَ وَمَقَامَاتِكَ الَّتِيْ لَا تَعْطِيْلَ لَهَا فِىْ كُلِّ مَكَانٍ

WA AAYAATEKA WA MAQAAMAATEKAL LATEE LAA TA’TEELA LAHAA FEE KULLE MAKAANIN

Your Signs and Stations, which are never inoperative in any place.

يَعْرِفُكَ بِهَا مَنْ عَرَفَكَ

YA’REFOKA BEHAA MAN A’RAFAKA,

Through them, You are known to those who know You.

لَا فَرْقَ بَيْنَكَ وَبَيْنَهَا اِلَّا اَنَّهُمْ عِبَادُكَ وَخَلْقُكَ

LAA FARQA BAYNAKA WA BAYNAHAA ILLAA ANNAHUM E’BAADOKA WA KHALQOKA,

-there being no difference between You and them except that they are Your servants and creation.

فَتْقُهَا وَرَتْقُهَا بِيَدِكَ

FATQOHAA WA RATQOHAA BEYADEKA,

their unstitching and mending is in Your hand

بَدْؤُهَا مِنْكَ وَعَوْدُهَا اِلَيْكَ

BAD-OHAA MINKA WA A’WDOHAA ELAYKA,

they enamate from You and return to You.

اَعْضَادٌ وَاَشْهَادٌ

A-A’ZAADUN WA ASH-HAADUN

They are the instruments, witnesses,

وَمُنَاةٌ وَاَذْوَادٌ

WA MONAATUN WA AZWAADUN

planners, defenders

وَحَفَظَةٌ وَرُوَّادٌ

WA HAFAZATUN WA RUWWAADUN,

guards and scouts

فَبِهِمْ مَلَأْتَ سَمَائَكَ وَاَرْضَكَ

FABEHIM MALAATA SAMAA-AKA WA ARZAKA

by whose means You have filled Your heavens and earth

حَتّٰى ظَهَرَ اَنْ لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اَنْتَ

HATTAA ZAHARA AN LAA ELAAHA ILLAA ANTA,

until it became manifest that there is no god save You.

فَبِذٰلِكَ اَسْاَلُكَ

FA-BEZAALEKA AS-ALOKA

I thus implore You in the name of all this,

وَبِمَوَاقِعِ الْعِزِّ مِنْ رَّحْمَتِكَ

WA BE-MAWAA-QE-I’L I’ZZE MIR RAHMATEKA

and by the recipients of honor and might by your mercy,

وَبِمَقَامَاتِكَ وَعَلَامَاتِكَ

WA BE-MAQAAMAATEKA WA A’LAAMAATEKA,

and by Your stations and Signs,

اَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَاٰلِهٖ

AN TOSALLEYA A’LAA MOHAMMADINW WA AALEHI

to send blessings to Muhammad and his Household

وَاَنْ تَزِيْدَنِيْ اِيْمَانًا وَتَثْبِيْتًا

WA AN TAZEEDANEE EEMAANAN WA TASBEETAN

and increase me in faith and fortitude.

يَا بَاطِنًا فِي ظُهُوْرِهٖ

YAA BAATENAN FEE ZOHOOREHI

O He Who is Immanent in His Evidence!

وَظَاهِرًا فِي بُطُوْنِهٖ وَمَكْنُوْنِهٖ

WA ZAAHERAN FEE BOTOONEHI WA MAKNOONEHI

O He Who is Evident in His Immanence and in His hiddenness!

يَا مُفَرِّقًا بَيْنَ النُّوْرِ وَالدَّيْجُوْرِ

YAA MOFARREQAN BAYNAN NOORE WAD-DAYJOORE

O He Who sets apart light from murk!

يَا مَوْصُوْفًا بِغَيْرِ كُنْهٍ

YAA MAWSOOFAN BE-GHAYRE KUNHIN,

O He Whom is described without recognition of his real essence!

وَمَعْرُوْفًا بِغَيْرِ شِبْهٍ

WA MA’ROOFAN BE-GHAYRE SHIBHIN,

and He Whom is recognized without having anything like Him!

حَادَّ كُلِّ مَحْدُوْدٍ

HAADDA KULLE MAHDOODIN,

O Edger of all edged things!

وَشَاهِدَ كُلِّ مَشْهُوْدٍ

WA SHAAHEDA KULLE MASH-HOODIN

O Witness of all done things!

وَمُوْجِدَ كُلِّ مَوْجُودٍ

WA MOOJEDA KLLE MAWJOODIN

O Bringer into being all existent things!

وَمُحْصِيَ كُلِّ مَعْدُوْدٍ

WA MOHSEYA KULLE MA’DOODIN

O Knower of the number of all countable things!

وَفَاقِدَ كُلِّ مَفْقُودٍ،

WA FAAQEDA KULLE MAFQOODIN

O Knower of the place of all lost things!

لَيْسَ دُوْنَكَ مِنْ مَعْبُوْدٍ

LAYSA DOONAKA MIM MA’BOODIN,

None is worshipped except You.

اَهْلَ الْكِبْرِيَاءِ وَالْجُوْدِ

AHLAL KIBREYAA-E WAL-JOODE,

You are the worthiest of all pride and magnanimity.

يَا مَنْ لَا يُكَيَّفُ بِكَيْفٍ

YAA MAN LAA YOKAYYAFO BE-KAYFIN,

O He about Whom, it is infeasible to as ‘how’

وَلَا يُؤَيَّنُ بِاَيْنٍ

WA LAA YO-AYYANO BE-AYNIN,

and it is infeasible to ask ‘where’!

يَا مُحْتَجِبًا عَنْ كُلِّ عَيْنٍ

YAA MOHTAJEBAN A’N KULLE A’YNIN,

O He Who is concealed from all sights!

يَا دَيْمُوْمُ يَا قَيُّوْمُ وَعَالِمَ كُلِّ مَعْلُوْمٍ

YAA DAYMOOMO YAA QAYYOOMO WA A’ALEMA KULLE MA’LOOMIN,

O Everlasting, O Self-Subsistent, O Knower of all known things!

صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَاٰلِهٖ وَعَلٰى عِبَادِكَ الْمُنْتَجَبِيْنَ

SALLE A’LAA MOHAMMADINW WA AALEHI WA A’LAA E’BAADEKAL MUNTAJABEENA

send blessings to Muhammad, his Household, Your selected servants,

وَبَشَرِكَ الْمُحْتَجِبِيْنَ

WA BASHAREKAL MOHTAJEBEENA,

Your concealed human beings,

وَمَلَاۤئِكَتِكَ الْمُقَرَّبِيْنَ

WA MA-LAA-EKATEKAL MOQARRABEENA

Your favorite angels,

وَالْبُهْمِ الصَّافِّيْنَ الْحَافِّيْنَ

WAL-BOHMIS SAAF-FEENAL HAAFFEENA

and the Angels who draw themselves out in ranks and who throng (round the Divine Throne),

وَبَارِكْ لَنَا فِي شَهْرِنَا هٰذَا الْمُرَجَّبِ الْمُكَرَّمِ

WA BAARIK LANAA FEE SHAHRENAA HAAZAL MORAJJABIL MOKARRAME

and bless us in this month—the honored and dignified—

وَمَا بَعْدَهٗ مِنَ الْاَشْهُرِ الْحُرُمِ

WA MAA BA’DAHU MENAL ASH-HORIL HOROME

as well as the next sacred months,

وَاَسْبِغْ عَلَيْنَا فِيْهِ النِّعَمَ

WA ASBIGH A’LAYNAA FEEHIN NE-A’MA

pour upon us Your graces in this month,

وَاَجْزِلْ لَنَا فِيْهِ الْقِسَمَ

WA AJ-ZIL LANAA FEEHIL QESAMA

grant us abundant shares of blessings,

وَاَبْرِرْ لَنَا فِيْهِ الْقَسَمَ

WA ABRIR LANAA FEEHIL QASAMA

admit our requests,

بِاسْمِكَ الْاَعْظَمِ الْاَعْظَمِ الْاَجَلِّ الْاََكْرَمِ

BISMEKAL A-A’ZAMIL A-A’ZAMIL AJALLIL AKRAMIL

in the name of Your Name, the Greatest, the Greatest, the Loftiest, the Most Honored

الَّذِيْ وَضَعْتَهُ عَلَى النَّهَارِ فَاَضَاءَ

LAZEE WA ZA’TAHU A’LAN NAHAARE FA-AZAA-A

that You put on daylight and it thus lit up

وَعَلَى اللَّيْلِ فَاَظْلَمَ

WA A’LAL LAYLE FA-AZLAMA

and You put on night and it thus darkened,

وَاغْفِرْ لَنَا مَا تَعْلَمُ مِنَّا وَمَا لَا نَعْلَمُ

WAGH FIR LANAA MAA TA’LAMO MINNAA WA MAA LAA NA’LAMO,

forgive us all that which You know about us and all that which we do not know,

وَاعْصِمْنَا مِنَ الذُّنُوْبِ خَيْرَ الْعِصَمِ

WA’ SIMNAA MENAZ ZONOOBE KHAYRAL E’SAME,

protect us against sins with the best of protection,

وَاكْفِنَا كَوَافِيَ قَدَرِكَ

WAK FENAA KAWAAFEYA QADAREKA,

save us against the acts that You predetermine,

وَامْنُنْ عَلَيْنَا بِحُسْنِ نَظَرِكَ

WAM NUN A’LAYNAA BEHUSNE NAZAREKA,

bestow upon us with Your superb looking,

وَلَا تَكِلْنَا اِلٰى غَيْرِكَ

WA LAA TAKILNAA ELAA GHAYREKA,

do not leave us in the hands of anyone other than You,

وَلَا تَمْنَعْنَا مِنْ خَيْرِكَ

WA LAA TAM-NA’NAA MIN KHAYREKA,

do not prevent us from Your goodness,

وَبَارِكْ لَنَا فِيْمَا كَتَبْتَهُ لَنَا مِنْ اَعْمَارِنَا

WA BAARIK LANAA FEEMAA KATABTAHU LANAA MIN A-A’MAARENAA,

bless us during the age that You have decided for us,

وَاَصْلِحْ لَنَا خَبِيْئَةَ اَسْرَارِنَا

WA ASLEH LANAA KHABEE-ATA ASRAARENAA

make righteous for us our inner selves,

وَاَعْطِنَا مِنْكَ الْاَمَانَ

WA A-A’TENAA MINKAL AMAANA,

grant us Your security,

وَاسْتَعْمِلْنَا بِحُسْنِ الْاِيمَانِ

WAS TA’MILNAA BE-HUSNIL EEMAANE,

make us enjoy perfect faith,

وَبَلِّغْنَا شَهْرَ الصِّيَامِ

WA BALLIGHNAA SHAHRAS SEYAAME,

and make us catch the month of fasting

وَمَا بَعْدَهٗ مِنَ الْاَيَّامِ وَالْاَعْوَامِ

WA MAA BA’DAHU MENAL AYYAAME WAL A-A’WAAME,

and the days and years coming after,

يَا ذَا الْجَلَالِ وَالْاِكْرَامِ.

YAA ZAL JALAALE WAL IKRAAME.

O Lord of Majesty and Honor!

Sixth: Shaykh al-Tusi has also narrated that a document signed by Imam al-Mahdi (a.t.f.s.) was received by Shaykh Abul Qasim, Imam al-Mahdi (a.t.f.s.)’s representative, comprising that the following supplicatory prayer would be recommendably said in the month of Rajab:

اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّيْ اَسْاَلُكَ بِالْمَوْلُوْدَيْنِ فِي رَجَبٍ

ALLAAHUMMA INNEE AS-ALOKA BIL-MAWLOODAYNE FEE RAJABIN

O Allah, I beseech You in the name of those who were born in Rajab,

مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ۟ الثَّانِىْ

MOHAMMAD IBNE A’LIYYENIS SAANEE

Muhammad ibn Ali the second

وَابْنِهٖ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍۨ الْمُنْتَجَبِ

WAB NEHI A’LIYYIBNE MOHAMMADENIL MUNTAJABE

and his son Ali ibn Muhammad the divinely selected;

وَاَتَقَرَّبُ بِهِمَا اِلَيْكَ خَيْرَ الْقُرَبِ

WA ATAQARRABO BEHEMAA ELAYKA KHAYRAL QORABE

I seek nearness to You through both of them for they are the best means of nearness to You.

يَا مَنْ اِلَيْهِ الْمَعْرُوْفُ طُلِبَ

YAA MAN ELAYHIL MA’ROOFO TOLEBA

O He from Whom favors are sought

وَفِيْمَا لَدَيْهِ رُغِبَ

WA FEEMAA LADAYHE ROGHEBA

and what He possesses is desired!

اَسْاَلُكَ سُؤَالَ مُقْتَرِفٍ مُذْنِبٍ

AS-ALOKA SO-AALA MUQTAREFIN MUZNEBIN

I beseech You with the entreaty of him

قَدْ اَوْبَقَتْهُ ذُنُوْبُهٗ

QAD AW BAQATHO ZONOOBOHU

whom is enchained by his sins

وَاَوْثَقَتْهُ عُيُوْبُهٗ

WA AW SAQATHO O’YOOBOHU

and is bound by his defects;

فَطَالَ عَلَى الْخَطَايَا دُئُوْبُهٗ

FA-TAALA A’LAL KHATAAYAA DO-OOBOHU

therefore, he devoted himself to offenses,

وَمِنَ الرَّزَايَا خُطُوْبُهٗ

WA MENAR RAZAAYAA KHOTOOBOHU

and disasters have attacked him heavily.

يَسْاَلُكَ التَّوْبَةَ

YASALOKAT TAWBATA

He is now begging You for accepting his repentance,

وَحُسْنَ الْاَوْبَةِ

WA HUSNAL AWBATE

good return from You,

وَالنُّزُوْعَ عَنِ الْحَوْبَةِ

WAN-NOZOO-A A’NIL HAWBATE

redeeming from punishment,

وَمِنَ النَّارِ فَكَاكَ رَقَبَتِهٖ

WA MENAN NAARE FAKAAKA RAQABATEHI

releasing from Hellfire,

وَالْعَفْوَ عَمَّا فِیْ رِبْقَتِهٖ

WAL A’FWA A’MMAA FEE RIBQATEHI

and overlooking the sins that are hanged to him.

فَاَنْتَ مَوْلَايَ اَعْظَمُ اَمَلِهٖ وَثِقَتِهٖ

FA-ANTA MAWLAAYA A-A’ZAMO AMALEHI WA SEQATEHI.

Certainly, You, O my Master, the greatest of all hopes and desires he has.

اَللّٰهُمَّ وَاَسْاَلُكَ بِمَسَاۤئِلِكَ الشَّرِيْفَةِ

ALLAAHUMMA WA AS-ALOKA BE-MASAAA-ELEKASH SHAREEFATE

O Allah, I beg You in the name of the holy means that You admit

وَوَسَاۤئِلِكَ الْمُنِيْفَةِ

WA WASAAA-ELEKAL MONEEFATE

and all of the elevated courses that take to You

اَنْ تَتَغَمَّدَنِیْ فِیْ هٰذَا الشَّهْرِ بِرَحْمَةٍ مِنْكَ وَاسِعَةٍ

AN TATAGHAMMADANEE FEE HAAZASH SHAHRE BE-RAHMATIM MINKA WAASE-A’TIN

to encompass me, in this month, with vast mercy of You,

وَنِعْمَةٍ وَازِعَةٍ

WA NE’MATIN WAAZE-A’TIN

abundant favors,

وَنَفْسٍ بِمَا رَزَقْتَهَا قَانِعَةٍ

WA NAFSIM BEMAA RAZAQTAHAA QAANEA’TIN

and satisfaction with what You have decided for me

اِلٰى نُزُوْلِ الْحَافِرَةِ

ELAA NOZOOLIL HAAFERATE

until I am put in my final hole,

وَمَحَلِّ الْآخِرَةِ

WA MAHALLIL AAKHERATE

which is my abode to the Hereafter

وَمَا هِيَ اِلَيْهِ صَاۤئِرَةٌ.

WA MAA HEYA ELAYHE SAA-ERATUN.

and the Final Fate.
