Daily Salawat of Shaban

Text and Translation

It is recommended to say the following form of invocation of blessings upon the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) and his Household (a.s.) that is reported from Imam Ali ibn al-Husayn al-Sajjad (a.s.) (i.e. Imam Zayn al-’Abidin) each midday (zohr) in Sha’ban and at the fifteenth night of it:

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ.

BISMILLAAHIR RAHMAANIR RAHEEM

In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.

اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلی مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

ALLAAHUMMA SALLE A’LAA MOHAMMADIN WA AALE MOHAMMADIN

O Allah, (please do) send blessings to Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad;

شَجَرَةٍ النُّبُوَّةِ

SHAJARATIN NOBUWWATE

the tree of Prophethood,

وَمَوضِعِ الرِّسَالَةِ

WA MAW-ZE-I’R RESAALATE

the trustees of the (Divine) Mission,

وَمُخْتَلَفِ الْمَلَائِکَةِ

WA MUKHTALAFIL MALAA-EKATE

the frequently visited by the angels,

وَمَعْدِنِ الْعِلْمِ

WA MA’DENIL I’LME

the core of knowledge,

وَاَهْلِ بَیْتِ الْوَحْیِ.

WA AHLE BAYTIL WAHYE

and the Household of the Divine Revelation.

اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰی مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

ALLAAHUMMA SALLE A’LAA MOHAMMADIN WA AALE MOHAMMADENIL

O Allah, (please do) send blessings to Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,

الْفُلْكِ الْجَارِیَةِ فِی اللُّجَجِ الْغامِرَةِ

FULKIL JAAREYATE FIL LOJAJIL GHAAMERATE

the sailing ships through the abysmal waves.

یَاْمَنُ مَنْ رَکِبَہَا

YAAMANO MAN RAKEBAHAA

He who embarks on will be saved

وَیَغْرَقُ مَنْ تَرَکَهَا

WA YAGHRAQO MAN TARAKAHAL

but he who abandons will be drowned.

الْمُتَقَدِّمُ لَهُمْ مارِقٌ

MOTAQADDEMO LAHUM MAAREQUN

He who precedes them will miss the Right Path

وَالْمُتَاَخِّرُ عَنْهُمْ زَاهِقٌ

WAL MOTA-AKHKHERO A’NHUM ZAA-HEQUN

and he who misses them will lose,

وَاللَّازِمُ لَهُمْ لَاحِقٌ.

WAL-LAAZEMO LAHUM LAAHEQUN

but he who adheres to them will win.

اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰی مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

ALLAAHUMMA SALLE A’LAA MOHAMMADIN WA AALE MOHAMMADENIL

O Allah, (please do) send blessings to Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,

الْكَهْفِ الْحَصِیْنِ

KAHFIL HASEENE

the impregnable shelter,

وَغِیَاثِ الْمُضْطَرِّ الْمُسْتَکِیْنِ

WA GHEYAASIL MUZTARRIL MUSTAKEENE

the succorers of the helpless, distressed ones,

وَمَلْجَاَ الْہَارِبِیْنَ

WA MALJA-IL HAAREBEENA

the haven of the fugitives,

وَعِصْمَةِ الْمُعْتَصِمِیْنَ.

WA I’SMATIL MO’TASEMEENA

and the asylum of those who seek refuge.

اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰی مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

ALLAAHUMMA SALLE A’LAA MOHAMMADIN WA AALE MOHAMMADIN

O Allah, (please do) send blessings to Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad

صَلَاةً کَثِیْرَةً تَکُوْنُ لَهُمْ رِضًا

SALAATAN KASEERATAN TAKOONO LAHUM REZAN

so many blessings that please them

وَلِحَقِّ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ اَدَاءً وَقَضَاءً

WA LEHAQQE MOHAMMADIN WA AALE MOHAMMADIN ADAA-AN WA QAZAA-AN

and settle all (our) duties towards Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,

بِحَوْلٍ مِنْكَ وَقُوَّةٍ

BEHAWLIN MINKA WA QUWWATIN

by Your might and power,

یَا رَبَّ الْعالَمِیْنَ

YAA RABBAL A’ALAMEENA

O Lord of the worlds!

اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰی مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

ALLAAHUMMA SALLE A’LAA MOHAMMADIN WA AALE MOHAMMADENIT

O Allah, (please do) send blessings to Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,

الطَّیِّبِیْنَ الْاَ بْرَارِ الْاَخْیَارِ

TAYYEBEENAL ABRAARIL AKHYAARIL

the pure, pious, and righteous

الَّذِیْنَ اَوْجَبْتَ حُقُوْقَهُمْ

LAZEENA AWJABTA HOQOOQAHUM

whose rights have been made incumbent upon us by You

وَفَرَضْتَ طَاعَتَهُمْ وَوِلَایَتَهُمْ.

WA FARAZTA TAA-A’TAHUM WA WELAAYATAHUM

and the obedience to whom and whose (divinely ordained) leadership have been (also) deemed obligatory upon us by You.

اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰی مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

ALLAAHUMMA SALLE A’LAA MOHAMMADIN WA AALE MOHAMMADIN

O Allah, (please do) send blessings to Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,

وَاعْمُرْ قَلْبِیْ بِطَاعَتِكَ

WA’MUR QALBEE BE-TAA-A’TEKA

fill my heart with obedience to You,

وَلَا تُخْزِنِیْ بِمَعْصِیَتِكَ

WA LAA TUKHZENEE BE-MA’SEYATEKA

do not disgrace me due to my acts of disobedience to You,

وَارْزُقْنِیْ مُوَاسَاةَ مَنْ قَتَّرْتَ عَلَیْہِ مِنْ رِزْقِكَ

WAR ZUQNEE MOWAASAATA MAN QATTARTA A’LAYHE MIN RIZQEKA

and grant me the feeling of sympathy towards those whom You have decided to straighten their sustenance

بِمَا وَسَّعْتَ عَلَیَّ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ

BEMAA WASSA’TA A’LAYYA MIN FAZLEKA

for You have blessed me with affluence in livelihood

وَنَشَرْتَ عَلَیَّ مِنْ عَدْلِكَ

WA NASHARTA A’LAYYA MIN A’DLEKA

since You have displayed Your justice on me

وَاَحْیَیْتَنِیْ تَحْتَ ظِلِّكَ

WA AHYAYTANEE TAHTA ZILLEKA

and bestowed life on me to live under Your shade.

وَهٰذَا شَهْرُ نَبِیِّكَ سَیِّدِ رُسُلِكَ

WA HAAZAA SHAHRO NABIYYEKA SAYYEDE ROSOLEKA

This is the month of Your Prophet and the Master of Your Messengers.

شَعْبَانُ الَّذِیْ حَفَفْتَہٗ مِنْكَ بِالرَّحْمَةِ

SHA’BAANUL LAZEE HAFAFTAHU MINKA BIR-RAHMATE

It is Sha`ban, which You have encompassed with Your mercy and pleasure

وَالرِّضْوَانِ الَّذِیْ کَانَ رَسُوْلُ اللهِ

WAR RIZWAANIL LAZEE KAANA RASOOLUL LAAHE

and on which the Messenger of Allah,

صَلَّی اللهُ عَلَیْہِ وَآلِہٖ وَسَلَّمَ

SALLAL LAAHO A’LAYHE WA AALEHI WA SALLAMA

peace and blessings be upon him and his Household,

یَدْاَبُ فِیْ صِیَامِہٖ وَقِیَامِہٖ

YAD-ABO FEE SEYAAMEHI WA QEYAAMEHI

used to observe fasting painstakingly and used to spend it with acts of worship

فِیْ لَیَالِیْہِ وَاَیَّامِہٖ

FEE LAYAALEEHE WA AYYAAMEHI

on all of its days and nights

بُخُوْعًا لَكَ فِیْ اِکْرَامِہٖ وَاِعْظَامِہٖ

BOKHOO-A’N LAKA FEE IKRAAMEHI WA E-A’ZAAMEHI

on account of Your honoring and dignifying this month,

اِلٰی مَحَلِّ حِمَامِہٖ

ELAA MAHALLE HEMAAMEHI

up to his death.

اَللّٰهُمَّ فَاَعِنَّا عَلَی الْاِسْتِنَانِ بِسُنَّتِہٖ فِیْہِ

ALLAAHUMMA FA-A-I’NNA ALAL ISTENAANE BESUNNATEHI FEEHE

O Allah, (please do) help us follow the example of him (i.e. the Holy Prophet as regards the honoring of this month)

وَنَیْلِ الشَّفَاعَةِ لَدَیْہِ

WA NAYLISH SHAFAA-A’TE LADAYHE

and help us attain his intercession for us.

اَللّٰهُمَّ وَاجْعَلْہُ لِیْ شَفِیْعًا مُشَفَّعًا

ALLAAHUMMA WAJ A’LHO LEE SHAFEE-A’N MOSHAFFA-A’N

O Allah, (please do) decide him as my interceder (before You) whose intercession for me is acceptable

وَطَرِیْقًا اِلَیْكَ مَهْیَعًا

WA TAREEQAN ELAYKA MAHYA-A’N

and as my clear path toward You,

وَاجْعَلْنِیْ لَہٗ مُتَّبِعًا

WAJ A’LNEE LAHU MUTTABE-A’N

and make me follow him

حَتّٰی اَلْقَاكَ یَوْمَ الْقِیَامَةِ عَنِّیْ رَاضِیًا

HATTAA ALQAAKA YAWMAL QEYAAMATE A’NNEE RAAZEYAN

until I meet You on the Resurrection Day in such a state that You are pleased with me

وَعَنْ ذُنُوْبِیْ غَاضِیًا

WA A’N ZONOOBEE GHAAZE-YAN

having overlooked my sins

قَدْ اَوْجَبْتَ لِیْ مِنْكَ الرَّحْمَةَ وَالرِّضْوَانَ

QAD AWJABTA LEE MINKAR RAHMATA WAR-RIZWAANA

and confer upon me with Your mercy and good pleasure

وَاَ نْزَلْتَنِیْ دَارَ الْقَرَارِ

WA ANZALTANEE DAARAL QARAARE

settling me in the Eternal Abode

وَمَحَلَّ الْاَخْیَارِ .

WA MAHALLAL AKHYAARE.

and the Place of the Righteous.
