Brief Supplications for this World and other worldly desires

Text and Translation

Although they are numerous, I will mention only thirty supplicatory prayers for this-worldly and otherworldly requests:

First: Imam al-Sadiq (‘a) is reported to have advised of saying this supplicatory prayer:

اَللّٰهُمَّ اجْعَلْنِىْۤ اَخْشَاكَ كَاَنِّىْۤ اَرَاكَ وَ اَسْعِدْنِىْ بِتَقْوَاكَ وَ لَا تُشْقِنِىْ بِنَشْطِىْ لِمَعَاصِيْكَ وَ خِرْلِىْ فِىْ قَضَاۤئِكَ وَ بَارِكْ لِىْ فِىْ قَدَرِكَ حَتّٰى لَا اُحِبَّ تَاْخِيْرَ مَا عَجَّلْتَ وَ لَا تَعْجِيْلَ مَاۤ اَخَّرْتَ وَاجْعَلْ غِنَاىَ فِىْ نَفْسِىْ وَ مَتِّعْنِىْ بِسَمْعِىْ وَ بَصَرِىْ وَ اجْعَلْهُمَا الْوَارِثَيْنِ مِنِّىْ وَانْصُرْنِىْ عَلٰى مَنْ ظَلَمَنِىْ وَاَرِنِىْ فِيْهِ قُدْرَتَكَ يَا رَبِّ وَ اَقِرَّ بِذٰلِكَ عَيْنِىْ

ALLAAHUMMAJ'ALNEE AKHSHAAKA KA-ANNEE ARAAKA WA AS'IDNEE BITAQWAAKA WA LAA TUSHQINEE BINASHTEE LIMA'AASEEKA WA KHIRLEE FEE QAZAA-IKA WA BAARIK LEE FEE QADARIKA HATTAA LAA UHIBBA TA'KHEERA MAA A'JJALTA WA LAA TA'JEELA MAA AKHKHARTA WAJ'AL GHINAAYA FEE NAFSEE WA MATTI'NEE BISAM'EE WA BASAREE WAJ'ALHUMAL WAARISAYNI MINNEE WANSURNEE A'LAA MAN ZALAMANEE WA-ARINEE FEEHI QUDRATAKA YAA RABBI WA AQIRRA BIZAALIKA A'YNEE

O Allah, make me fear You as if I see You; make me happy through piety towards You; do not make me wretched through my eagerness for acts of disobedience to You; choose (what is best) for me in Your decree; and bless me in what You have ordained, so that I may not love the delay of what You have hastened nor the hastening of what You have delayed. Place my sufficiency in my soul, let me enjoy my hearing and my sight and make them the heirs of me, help me against those who wrong me, show me Your power over them, O my Lord, and delight my eye thereby.

Second: Imam al-Sadiq (‘a) is also reported to have advised of saying this supplicatory prayer:

اَللّٰهُمَّ اَعِنِّىْ عَلٰى هَوْلِ يَوْمِ الْقِيٰمَةِ وَاَخْرِجْنِىْ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا سَالِمًا وَ زَوِّجْنِىْ مِنَ الْحُوْرِ الْعِيْنِ وَاكْفِنِىْ مَؤُنَتِىْ وَ مَؤُنَةَ عِيَالِىْ وَ مَؤُنَةَ النَّاسِ وَاَدْخِلْنِىْ بِرَحْمَتِكَ فِىْ عِبَادِكَ الصَّالِحِيْنَ.

ALLAAHUMMA A'INNEE A'LAA HAWLI YAWMIL QEEMATI WA-AKHRIJNEE MINAD DUNYAA SAALIMAN WA ZAWWIJNEE MINAL HOORIL 'EENI WAKFINEE MA-UNATEE WA MA-UNATA I'YAALEE WA MA-UNATAN NAASI WA-ADKHILNEE BIRAHMATIKA FEE I'BAADIKAS SAALIHEEN.

O Allah, help me against the terror of the Day of Resurrection, take me out of this world safe and sound, wed me to the wide-eyed houris, suffice me in my provision, the provision of my family and (what I need from) the people, and admit me, by Your mercy, among Your righteous servants.
