Another Izn Dukhool

Text and Translation

Second: Following is the form of asking permission that is reported by ‘Allamah al-Majlisi - may Allah sanctify his soul - from an old copy of a book written by one of our old scholars who had mentioned that it is a form of asking permission to enter the Holy Vault (Sirdab) and the illuminative shrines of the Holy Imams (‘a):

اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنَّ هٰذِهِ بُقْعَةٌ طَهَّرْتَهَا وَ عَقْوَةٌ شَرَّفْتَهَا وَ مَعَالِمُ زَكَّيْتَهَا حَيْثُ اَظْهَرْتَ فِيْهَاۤ اَدِلَّةَ التَّوْحِيْدِ وَ اَشْبَاحَ الْعَرْشِ الْمَجِيْدِ الَّذِيْنَ اصْطَفَيْتَهُمْ مُلُوْكًا لِحِفْظِ النِّظَامِ وَ اخْتَرْتَهُمْ رُؤَسَاۤءَ لِجَمِيْعِ الْاَنَامِ وَ بَعَثْتَهُمْ لِقِيَامِ الْقِسْطِ فِيْ ابْتِدَاۤءِ الْوُجُوْدِ اِلٰى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ ثُمَّ مَنَنْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ بِاسْتِنَابَةِ اَنْبِيَاۤئِكَ لِحِفْظِ شَرَایِعِكَ وَ اَحْكَامِكَ فَاَكْمَلْتَ بِاسْتِخْلَافِهِمْ رِسَالَةَ الْمُنْذِرِيْنَ كَمَا اَوْجَبْتَ رِیَاسَتَهُمْ فِيْ فِطَرِ الْمُكَلَّفِيْنَ فَسُبْحَانَكَ مِنْ اِلٰهٍ مَاۤ اَرْاَفَكَ وَ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اَنْتَ مِنْ مَلِكٍ مَاۤ اَعْدَلَكَ حَيْثُ طَابَقَ صُنْعُكَ مَا فَطَرْتَ عَلَيْهِ الْعُقُوْلَ وَ وَافَقَ حُكْمُكَ مَا قَرَّرْتَهٗ فِي الْمَعْقُوْلِ وَ الْمَنْقُوْلِ فَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَلٰى تَقْدِيْرِكَ الْحَسَنِ الْجَمِيْلِ وَ لَكَ الشُّكْرُ عَلٰى قَضَاۤئِكَ الْمُعَلَّلِ بِاَكْمَلِ التَّعْلِيْلِ، فَسُبْحَانَ مَنْ لَا يُسْاَلُ عَنْ فِعْلِهٖ وَ لَا يُنَازَعُ فِيْۤ اَمْرِهٖ وَ سُبْحَانَ مَنْ كَتَبَ عَلٰى نَفْسِهِ الرَّحْمَةَ قَبْلَ ابْتِدَاۤءِ خَلْقِهٖ وَ الْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ الَّذِيْ مَنَّ عَلَيْنَا بِحُكَّامٍ يَقُوْمُوْنَ مَقَامَهٗ لَوْ كَانَ حَاضِرًا فِي الْمَكَانِ وَ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللّٰهُ الَّذِيْ شَرَّفَنَا بِاَوْصِيَاۤءَ يَحْفَظُوْنَ الشَّرَایِعَ فِيْ كُلِّ الْاَزْمَانِ وَ اللّٰهُ اَكْبَرُ الَّذِيْۤ اَظْهَرَهُمْ لَنَا بِمُعْجِزَاتٍ يَعْجُزُ عَنْهَا الثَّقَلَانِ لَا حَوْلَ وَ لَا قُوَّةَ اِلَّا بِاللّٰهِ الْعَلِيِّ الْعَظِيْمِ الَّذِيْۤ اَجْرَانَا عَلٰى عَوَاۤئِدِهِ الْجَمِيْلَةِ فِي الْاُمَمِ السَّالِفِيْنَ اَللّٰهُمَّ فَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ وَ الثَّنَاۤءُ الْعَلِيُّ كَمَا وَجَبَ لِوَجْهِكَ الْبَقَاۤءُ السَّرْمَدِيُّ وَ كَمَا جَعَلْتَ نَبِيَّنَا خَيْرَ النَّبِيِّيْنَ وَ مُلُوْكَنَا اَفْضَلَ الْمَخْلُوْقِيْنَ وَ اخْتَرْتَهُمْ عَلٰى عِلْمٍ عَلَى الْعَالَمِيْنَ وَفِّقْنَا لِلسَّعْيِ اِلٰۤى اَبْوَابِهِمُ الْعَامِرَةِ اِلٰى يَوْمِ الدِّيْنِ وَ اجْعَلْ اَرْوَاحَنَا تَحِنُّ اِلٰى مَوْطِئِ اَقْدَامِهِمْ، وَ نُفُوْسَنَا تَهْوِيْ النَّظَرَ اِلٰى مَجَالِسِهِمْ وَ عَرَصَاتِهِمْ حَتّٰى كَاَنَّنَا نُخَاطِبُهُمْ فِيْ حُضُوْرِ اَشْخَاصِهِمْ فَصَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِمْ مِنْ سَادَةٍ غَاۤئِبِيْنَ وَ مِنْ سُلَالَةٍ طَاهِرِيْنِ وَ مِنْ اَئِمَّةٍ مَعْصُوْمِيْنَ اَللّٰهُمَّ فَاْذَنْ لَنَا بِدُخُوْلِ هٰذِهِ الْعَرَصَاتِ الَّتِيْ اسْتَعْبَدْتَ بِزِيَارَتِهَاۤ اَهْلَ الْاَرَضِيْنَ وَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَ اَرْسِلْ دُمُوْعَنَا بِخُشُوْعِ الْمَهَابَةِ وَ ذَلِّلْ جَوَارِحَنَا بِذُلِّ الْعُبُوْدِيَّةِ وَ فَرْضِ الطَّاعَةِ حَتّٰى نُقِرَّ بِمَا يَجِبُ لَهُمْ مِنَ الْاَوْصَافِ وَ نَعْتَرِفَ بِاَنَّهُمْ شُفَعَاۤءُ الْخَلَاۤئِقِ اِذَا نُصِبَتِ الْمَوَازِيْنُ فِيْ يَوْمِ الْاَعْرَافِ وَ الْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ وَ سَلَامٌ عَلٰى عِبَادِهِ الَّذِيْنَ اصْطَفٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اٰلِهِ الطَّاهِرِيْنَ.

ALLAAHUMMA INNA HAAZIHI BUQ'ATUN TAHHARTAHAA WA A'QWATUN SHARRAFTAHAA WA MA'AALIMU ZAKKAYTAHAA HAYSU AZHARTA FEEHAA ADILLATAT TAWHEEDI WA ASHBAAHAL 'ARSHIL MAJEEDIL LAZEENASTAFAYTAHUM MULOOKAN LIHIFZIN NIZAAMI WAKHTARTAHUM RU-ASAA-A LIJAMEE'IL ANAAMI WA BA'ASTAHUM LIQIYAAMIL QISTI FEEBTIDAA-IL WUJOODI ILAA YAWMIL QIYAAMATI SUMMA MANANTA A'LAYHIM BISTINAABATI ANBIYAA-IKA LIHIFZI SHARAAYI'IKA WA AHKAAMIKA FA-AKMALTA BISTIKHLAAFIHIM RISAALATAL MUNZIREENA KAMAA AWJABTA RIYAASATAHUM FEE FITARIL MUKALLAFEENA FASUBHAANAKA MIN ILAAHIN MAA AR-AFAKA WA LAA ILAAHA ILLAA ANTA MIN MALIKIN MAA A'DALAKA HAYSU TAABAQA SUN'UKA MAA FATARTA A'LAYHIL 'UQOOLA WA WAAFAQA HUKMUKA MAA QARRARTAHOO FIL MA'QOOLI WAL MANQOOLI FALAKAL HAMDU A'LAA TAQDEERIKAL HASANIL JAMEELI WA LAKASH SHUKRU A'LAA QAZAA-IKAL MU'ALLALI BI-AKMALIT TA'LEEL, FASUBHAANA MAN LAA YUS-ALU A'N FI'LIHEE WA LAA YUNAAZA'U FEE AMRIHEE WA SUBHAANA MAN KATABA A'LAA NAFSIHIR RAHMATA QABLABTIDAA-I KHALQIHEE WAL HAMDU LILLAAHIL LAZEE MANNA A'LAYNAA BIHUKKAAMIN YAQOOMOONA MAQAAMAHOO LAW KAANA HAAZIRAN FIL MAKAANI WA LAA ILAAHA ILLAL LAAHUL LAZEE SHARRAFANAA BI-AWSIYAA-A YAHFAZOONASH SHARAAYI'A FEE KULLIL AZMAANI WAL LAAHU AKBARUL LAZEE AZHARAHUM LANAA BIMU'JIZAATIN YA'JUZU A'NHAS SAQALAANI LAA HAWLA WA LAA QUWWATA ILLAA BIL LAAHIL 'ALIYYIL 'AZEEMIL LAZEE AJRAANAA A'LAA A'WAA-IDIHIL JAMEELATI FIL UMAMIS SAALIFEENA ALLAAHUMMA FALAKAL HAMDU WAS SANAA-UL 'ALIYYU KAMAA WAJABA LIWAJHIKAL BAQAA-US SARMADIYYU WA KAMAA JA'ALTA NABIYYANAA KHAYRAN NABIYYEENA WA MULOOKANAA AFZALAL MAKHLOOQEENA WAKHTARTAHUM A'LAA I'LMIN A'LAL 'AALAMEENA WAFFIQNAA LILSSA'YI ILAA ABWAABIHIMUL 'AAMIRATI ILAA YAWMID DEENI WAJ'AL ARWAAHANAA TAHINNU ILAA MAWTI-I AQDAAMIHIM, WA NUFOOSANAA TAHWIN NAZARA ILAA MAJAALISIHIM WA A'RASAATIHIM HATTAA KA-ANNANAA NUKHAATIBUHUM FEE HUZOORI ASHKHAASIHIM FASALLAL LAAHU A'LAYHIM MIN SAADATIN GHAA-IBEENA WA MIN SULAALATIN TAAHIREENI WA MIN A-IMMATIN MA'SOOMEENA ALLAAHUMMA FA'ZAN LANAA BIDUKHOOLI HAAZIHIL 'ARASAATIL LATEESTA'BADTA BIZIYAARATIHAA AHLAL ARAZEENA WAS SAMAAWAATI WA ARSIL DUMOO'ANAA BIKHUSHOO'IL MAHAABATI WA ZALLIL JAWAARIHANAA BIZULLIL 'UBOODIYYATI WA FARZIT TAA'ATI HATTAA NUQIRRA BIMAA YAJIBU LAHUM MINAL AWSAAFI WA NA'TARIFA BI-ANNAHUM SHUFA'AA-UL KHALAA-IQI IZAA NUSIBATIL MAWAAZEENU FEE YAWMIL A'RAAFI WAL HAMDU LILLAAHI WA SALAAMUN A'LAA I'BAADIHIL LAZEENASTAFAA MUHAMMADIN WA AALIHIT TAAHIREEN.

O Allah, this is verily an area that You have purified, a courtyard that You have honored, and landmarks that You have ennobled when You have shown therein the proofs on Your Oneness and the ghosts of the Glorious Throne whom You have selected as kings maintaining the System (of the universe), You have chosen them as chiefs of all beings, and You have sent them for standing out firmly for justice since the beginning of existence and up to the Resurrection Day. You have then conferred upon them with the grace of their representing Your Prophets in the matters of maintaining Your rules and laws. You have thus perfected, through assigning them as successors of Your Prophets, the Mission of the warning Prophets in the same way as You have made their leadership incumbent since the first creation of all peoples who are responsible for carrying out Your duties. Glory be to You; what a Compassionate Lord Your are! There is no god save You; what a Just King You are! Your making has corresponded with all that on which You have created the intellects, and Your laws have concurred with that which You have decided, including the logic and the narrated. Praise be to You for Your arrangement— the fine and excellent. Thanks be to You for Your ordain that is outstandingly founded. Glory be to Him Whom is not asked about whatever He does, and Whom is not disputed about whatever He decides. Glory be to Him Who has inscribed mercy for Himself before He started creation. Praise be to Allah Who has conferred upon us with the favor of assigning rulers who represent Him as if He is present therein. There is no god save Allah Who has honored us with Successors maintaining the (Divine) laws in all ages. Allah is the Most Great for He has demonstrated them before us through miracles that neither men nor can the jinn do. There is no power and no might save with Allah, the Most High, the All-great, Who has accustomed us to receive His favorable donations that He did to the ancient nations. O Allah, all praise be to You and elevated thanks be to You as eternal existence has been confirmed for Your Face, and as You have chosen our Prophet to be the best of Prophets and our kings to be the best of the creatures, and You have chosen them aforetime above the nations knowingly. (Please do) grant us prosperity to stand at the doorsteps of their flourishing shrines up to the Resurrection Day, make our souls long for the places of their feet, and make our spirits desire for looking at their sessions and courtyards as if we can talk to them in their presence. May Allah bless them; they are absent masters, immaculate progeny, and infallible leaders. O Allah, (please do) permit us to enter these courtyards that You have ordered the inhabitants of the heavens and the earth to visit them as sign of worship to You, make our eyes shed tears of reverence for their dignity, and make our organs show humility of servitude and of obligatory obedience (to You), so that we will confess of the qualities that are fixed for them and to admit that they are the interceders for the creatures when the Scale shall be set up on the Heights Day. All praise be to Allah and peace be upon His servants that He has chosen; Muhammad and His Immaculate Household.

You may then kiss the doorstep with submission and teary eyes, for this is the sign that you have been permitted by the Infallibles - peace be upon them - to enter.
