Aamal of the day of Navroz

Text and Translation

Addressing al-Mu'alla ibn Khunays, Imam al-Sadiq (a) said: on the Nayruz day (the 21st of March; the new day of the Persian calendar), bathe yourself, put on the cleanest of your clothes, perfume yourself with the best fragrance you have, and before everything, observe fasting.

When you accomplish the supererogatory (mustahab) prayers and offer the Zuhr and Asr (obligatory) Prayers, add a four-unit prayer, each two alone, in the first of which recite [Surah al-Fatihah](A5) once and repeat [Surah al-Qadr](A101) ten times. In the second unit, recite Surah al-Fatihah once and repeat [Surah al-Kafirun](A113) ten times. In the third, recite Surah al-Fatihah once and repeat [Surah al-Tawheed](A116) ten times. In the fourth, recite Surah al-Fatihah once and repeat [Surah al-Nas](A118) ten times.

After accomplishing this prayer, prostrate yourself and say the following:

اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ الْاَوْصِيَاۤءِ الْمَرْضِيِّيْنَ وَ عَلٰى جَمِيْعِ اَنْبِيَاۤئِكَ وَ رُسُلِكَ بِاَفْضَلِ صَلَوَاتِكَ وَ بَارِكْ عَلَيْهِمْ بِاَفْضَلِ بَرَكَاتِكَ وَ صَلِّ عَلٰۤى اَرْوَاحِهِمْ وَ اَجْسَادِهِمْ

ALLAAHUMMA SALLI A'LAA MUHAMMADIN WA AALI MUHAMMADINIL AWSIYAAA-IL MARDIYYEEN WA A'LAA JAMEE-I' ANBIYAAA-IKA WA RUSULIKA BI-AFDALI SALAWAATIKA WA BAARIK A'LAYHIM BI-AFDALI BARAKAATIKA WA SALLI A'LAA ARWAAHIHIM WA AJSAADIHIM

O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad, the pleasing successors, and upon all Your prophets and messengers, with Your best blessings; and bless them with Your best blessings, and send blessings upon their souls and their bodies,

اَللّٰهُمَّ بَارِكْ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ بَارِكْ لَنَا فِيْ يَوْمِنَا هٰذَا الَّذِيْ فَضَّلْتَهٗ وَ كَرَّمْتَهٗ وَ شَرَّفْتَهٗ وَ عَظَّمْتَ خَطَرَهٗ

ALLAAHUMMA BAARIK A'LAA MUHAMMADIN WA AALI MUHAMMADIN WA BAARIK LANAA FEE YAWMINAA HAAZAL LAZEE FADDALTAHU WA KARRAMTAHU WA SHARRAFTAHU WA A'ZZAMTA KHATARAH

O Allah, bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad, and bless us on this day of ours, which You have favored, honored, ennobled, and magnified in importance,

اَللّٰهُمَّ بَارِكْ لِيْ فِيْمَاۤ اَنْعَمْتَ بِهٖ عَلَىَّ حَتّٰى لَاۤ اَشْكُرَ اَحَدًا غَيْرَكَ وَ وَسِّعْ عَلَىَّ فِيْ رِزْقِيْ يَا ذَا الْجَلَالِ وَالْاِكْرَامِ اَللّٰهُمَّ مَا غَابَ عَنِّيْ فَلَا يَغِيْبَنَّ عَنِّيْ عَوْنُكَ وَ حِفْظُكَ وَ مَا فَقَدْتُ مِنْ شَيْءٍ فَلَا تُفْقِدْنِيْ عَوْنَكَ عَلَيْهِ حَتّٰى لَاۤ اَتَكَلَّفَ مَا لَاۤ اَحْتَاجُ اِلَيْهِ يَا ذَا الْجَلَالِ وَالْاِكْرَامِ

ALLAAHUMMA BAARIK LEE FEEMAAA AN-A'MTA BIHI A'LAYYA HATTAA LAAA ASHKURA AHADAN GHAYRAK WA WASSI-A' A'LAYYA FEE RIZQEE YAA ZAL JALAALI WAL IKRAAM, ALLAAHUMMA MAA GHAABA A'NNEE FA-LAA YAGHEEBANNA A'NNEE A'WNUKA WA HIFZUK, WA MAA FAQADTU MIN SHAY-IN FA-LAA TUFQIDNEE A'WNAKA A'LAYHI HATTAA LAAA ATAKALLAFA MAA LAAA AHTAAJU ILAYHI YAA ZAL JALAALI WAL IKRAAM

O Allah, bless me in what You have bestowed upon me, that I may thank none but You, and expand my sustenance for me, O Possessor of Majesty and Honor. O Allah, whatever is hidden from me, let not Your aid and Your protection be hidden from me; and whatever I have lost, do not deprive me of Your aid regarding it, so that I need not burden myself with what I do not need, O Possessor of Majesty and Honor.

If you do and say so, your sins of fifty years will be forgiven. Repeat the following saying as much as possible:

يَا ذَا الْجَلَالِ وَالْاِكْرَامِ

YAA ZAL JALAALI WAL IKRAAM

O Possessor of Majesty and Honor.
