A Proven dua

Text and Translation

Anas is reported to have quoted the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) as saying: Whoever says this supplicatory prayer every morning and every evening, Allah the All-exalted will order four angels to defend him from the front side, the backside, the right side, and the left side, he will be kept under the security of Allah the Almighty and All-majestic, and no harm can ever affect him even if all jinn and all human beings try to cause him harm:

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

BISMIL LAAHIR RAHMAANIR RAHEEME

In the name of Allah, the All-Beneficent, the All-Merciful.

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ خَيْرِ الْاَسْمَاۤءِ

BISMIL LAAHE KHAYRIL ASMAAA-E

In the name of Allah, the best of names.

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ رَبِّ الْاَرْضِ وَ السَّمَاۤءِ

BISMIL LAAHE RABBIL ARZE WAS SAMAAA-E

In the name of Allah, Lord of the earth and the heaven.

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الَّذِىْ لَايَضُرُّ مَعَ اسْمِهِ سَمٌّ وَلَا دَاۤءٌ

BISMIL LAAHIL LAZEE LAA YAZURRO MA-A’SMEHI SAMMUN WA LAA DAAA-UN

In the name of Allah, with Whose name no poison or disease can cause harm.

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ اَصْبَحْتُ وَ عَلَى اللّٰهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ

BISMIL LAAHE ASBAHTO WA A’LAL LAAHE TAWAKKALTO

In the name of Allah, I have entered the morning, and in Allah I have placed my trust.

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ عَلٰى قَلْبِىْ وَ نَفْسِىْ

BISMIL LAAHE A’LAA QALBEE WA NAFSEE

In the name of Allah upon my heart and my soul.

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ عَلٰى دِيْنِىْ وَ عَقْلِىْ

BISMIL LAAHE A’LAA DEENEE WA A’QLEE

In the name of Allah upon my religion and my intellect.

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ عَلٰۤى اَهْلِىْ وَ مَالِىْ

BISMIL LAAHE A’LAAA AHLEE WA MAALEE

In the name of Allah upon my family and my wealth.

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ عَلٰى مَاۤ اَعْطَانِىْ رَبِّىْ

BISMIL LAAHE A’LAA MAAA AA’TAANEE RABBEE

In the name of Allah upon what my Lord has granted me.

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الَّذِىْ لَايَضُرُّ مَعَ اسْمِهٖ شَىْءٌ فِى الْاَرْضِ

BISMIL LAAHIL LAZEE LAA YAZURRO MA-A’SMEHI SHAY-UN FIL ARZE

In the name of Allah, with Whose name nothing in the earth

وَ لَا فِىْ السَّمَاۤءِ وَ هُوَ السَّمِيْعُ الْعَلِيْمُ

WA LAA FIS SAMAAA-E WA HOWAS SAMEE-U’L A’LEEMO

or in the heaven can cause harm, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.

اَللهُ اَللهُ رَبِّىْ لَاۤ اُشْرِكُ بِهٖ شَيْئًا

ALLAAHO ALLAAHO RABBEE LAA OSHREKO BEHE SHAY-AN

Allah, Allah is my Lord; I do not associate anything with Him.

اَللهُ اَكْبَرُ اَللهُ اَكْبَرُ وَ اَعَزُّ وَ اَجَلُّ مِمَّاۤ اَخَافُ وَ اَحْذَرُ

ALLAAHO AKBARO ALLAAHO AKBARO WA A-A’ZZO WA AJALLO MIMMAAA AKHAAFO WA AHAZARO

Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, and more Mighty and more Majestic than what I fear and guard against.

عَزَّ جَارُكَ وَ جَلَّ ثَنَاۤؤُكَ وَلَاۤ اِلٰهَ غَيْرُكَ

A’ZZA JAAROKA WA JALLA SANAAA-OKA WALAA ELAAHA GHAYROKA

Your protection is powerful, Your praise is exalted, and there is no god other than You.

اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّىْۤ اَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ نَفْسِىْ

ALLAAHUMMA INNEEE A-O’OZO BEKA MIN SHARRE NAFSEE

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the evil of my soul,

وَ مِنْ شَرِّ كُلِّ سُلْطَانٍ شَدِيْدٍ

WA MIN SHARRE KOLLE SOLTAANEN SHADEEDIN

from the evil of every powerful tyrant,

وَ مِنْ شَرِّ كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ مَرِيْدٍ

WA MIN SHARRE KOLLE SHAYTAANEN MAREEDEN

from the evil of every rebellious devil,

وَ مِنْ شَرِّ كُلِّ جَبَّارٍ عَنِيْدٍ

WA MIN SHARRE KOLLE JABBAAREN A’NEEDEN

from the evil of every stubborn oppressor,

وَ مِنْ شَرِّ قَضَاۤءِ السُّوْۤءِ وَ مِنْ كُلِّ دَآبَّةٍ اَنْتَ اٰخِذٌ بِنَاصِيَتِهَاۤ

WA MIN SHARRE QAZAAA-ES SOOO-E WA MIN KOLLE DAABBATEN ANTA AAKHEZON BENAASEYATEHAAA

and from the evil of an ill fate, and from every creature whose forelock You hold.

اِنَّكَ عَلٰى صِرَاطٍ مُّسْتَقِيْمٍ

INNAKA A’LAA SERAATEM MOSTAQEEMIN

Indeed, You are upon a straight path,

وَ اَنْتَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَىْءٍ حَفِيْظٌ

WA ANTA A’LAA KOLLE SHAY-EN HAFEEZON

and You are a Guardian over all things.

اِنَّ وَلِيِّىَ اللّٰهُ الَّذِىْ نَزَّلَ الْكِتَابَ

INNA WALIYYEYAL LAAHUL LAZEE NAZZALAL KETAABA

Indeed, my protector is Allah, Who sent down the Book,

وَ هُوَ يَتَوَلَّى الصَّالِحِيْنَ

WA HOWA YATAWALLAS SAALEHEENA

and He befriends the righteous.

فَاِنْ تَوَلَّوْا فَقُلْ حَسْبِىَ اللّٰهُ

FA-IN TAWALLAW FAQOL HASBEYALLAAHO

But if they turn away, then say: "Allah is sufficient for me;

لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا هُوَ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ

LAA ELAAHA ELLAA HOWA A’LAYHE TAWAKKALTO

there is no god but Him. In Him I have placed my trust,

وَ هُوَ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيْمِ.

WA HOWA RABBOL A’RSHEL A’ZEEME.

and He is the Lord of the Great Throne."
