This is a ‘Makki’ Surah and has 15 verse. It is narrated from the Holy Prophet (S) that the reward for reciting this Surah is compared to the things upon which the sun and the moon shine.
Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (a.s.) has said that the person who recites Surah as-Shams, al-Layl, az-Zoha and al-Insherah will, on the Day of Judgement, find all creatures of the earth testifying on his behalf and Allah will accept their testimony and give him a place in Jannah. Recitation of this Surah also leads to an increase in sustenance, courage and popularity amongst the people.

BISMIL LAAHIR RAHMAANIR RAHEEM
In the Name of Allah, the All-merciful, the All-compassionate
WASH SHAMSE WA ZOHAAHAA.
By the Sun and his (glorious) splendour;
WAL QAMARE EZAA TALAAHAA.
By the Moon as she follows him;
WAN NAHAARE EZAA JALLAAHAA.
By the Day as it shows up (the Sun's) glory;
WAL LAYLE EZAA YAGHSHAAHAA.
By the Night as it conceals it;
WAS SAMAAA-E WA MAA BANAAHAA.
By the Firmament and its (wonderful) structure;
WAL ARZE WA MAA TAHAAHAA.
By the Earth and its (wide) expanse:
WA NAFSINW WA MAA SAWWAAHAA.
By the Soul, and the proportion and order given to it;
FA-ALHAMAHAA FOJOORAHAA WA TAQWAAHAA.
And its enlightenment as to its wrong and its right;-
QAD AFLAHA MAN ZAKKAAHAA.
Truly he succeeds that purifies it,
WA QAD KHAABA MAN DASSAAHAA.
And he fails that corrupts it!
KAZZABAT SAMOODO BE-TAGHWAAHAA.
The Thamud (people) rejected (their prophet) through their inordinate wrong-doing,
EZIM BA-A’SA ASHQAAHAA.
Behold, the most wicked man among them was deputed (for impiety).
FAQAALA LAHUM RASOOLUL LAAHE NAAQATAL LAAHE WA SUQYAAHAA.
But the Messenger of Allah said to them: “It is a She-camel of Allah! And (bar her not from) having her drink!”
FA-KAZZABOOHO FA-A’QAROOHAA, FA-DAMDAMA A’LAYHIM RABBOHUM BE-ZAMBEHIM FASAWWAAHAA.
Then they rejected him (as a false prophet), and they hamstrung her. So their Lord, on account of their crime, obliterated their traces and made them equal (in destruction, high and low)!
WA LAA YAKHAAFO UQBAAHAA.
And for Him is no fear of its consequences.
