Merits
This Surah was revealed in Madinah and it has 6 verse. Surah an-Naas and al-Falaq are together called Ma-o’ozatayn. Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (a.s.) has said that whoever recites this Surah in his house every night, will be kept safe from Jinn and the evil designs of Shaitan.
If this Surah is put around the neck of a child as a talisman, the child will be protected from Jinn. Reciting the Ma-o’ozatayn before sleeping is a means of safety and if recited on any part of the body that is paining, the pain will be relieved.
Text and Translation
بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ
BISMIL LAAHIR RAHMAANIR RAHEEM
In the Name of Allah, the All-merciful, the All-compassionate
قُلْ اَعُوْذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِۙ(1)
QUL A-OO’ZO BE RABBIN NAASE.
Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of men,
مَلِكِ النَّاسِۙ(2)
MALEKIN NAASE.
The King of men,
اِلٰهِ النَّاسِۙ(3)
ELAAHIN NAASE.
The God of men,
مِنْ شَرِّ الْوَسْوَاسِ ۙ الْخَنَّاسِ ۙ(4)
MIN SHARRIL WASWAASIL, KHANNAASIL.
From the evil of the whisperings of the slinking (Shaitan),
الَّذِىْ يُوَسْوِسُ فِىْ صُدُوْرِ النَّاسِۙ(5)
LAZEE YOWASWESO FEE SODOORIN NAASE.
Who whispers into the hearts of men,
مِنَ الْجِنَّةِ وَالنَّاسِ(6)
MENAL JINNATE WAN NAAS.
From among the jinn and the men.
