Merits
There are 11 verses in this Surah and it was revealed in Makkah. In a tradition from the Holy Prophet (S) it is said that the reward for reciting this Surah is equivalent to ten times the number who are present in ‘Arafah and Muzdalifa at the time of Hajj.
Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (a.s.) has said that those people who recite Surah al-‘Aadiyaat everyday will be counted from the companions of Ameerul Mu’mineen (a.s.) and it has also been narrated that reciting this Surah daily carries the reward of reciting the entire Qur’an. If a person has many creditors, recitation of this Surah will help clear his debts.
If recited by a person in fear, this Surah brings him to safety; if recited by a hungry person, it helps in his finding sustenance; if recited by a thirsty person, his thirst will be quenched.

BISMIL LAAHIR RAHMAANIR RAHEEM
In the Name of Allah, the All-merciful, the All-compassionate
WAL-A’ADEYAATE ZABHAN.
I swear by the runners breathing pantingly,
FAL-MOORE-YAATE QADHAN.
Then those that produce fire striking,
FAL-MOGHEERAATE SUBHAN.
Then those that make raids at morn,
FA-ASARNA BEHI NAQ-A’N.
Then thereby raise dust,
FA-WASATNA BEHI JAM-A’N.
Then rush thereby upon an assembly:
اِنَّ الْاِنْسَانَ لِرَبِّهٖ لَكَنُوْدٌ ۚ(6)
INNAL INSAANA LE-RABBEHI LA-KANOOD.
Most surely man is ungrateful to his Lord.
WA INNAHU A’LAA ZAALEKA LA-SHAHEED.
And most surely he is a witness of that.
WA INNAHU LE-HUBBIL KHAYRE LA-SHADEED.
And most surely he is tenacious in the love of wealth.
AFALAA YA’LAMO EZAA BOA’SERA MAA FIL QOBOORE.
Does he not then know when what is in the graves is raised,
WA HUSSELA MAA FIS SODOORE.
And what is in the breasts is made apparent?
INNA RABBAHUM BEHIM YAWMA-EZIL LA-KHABEER.
Most surely their Lord that day shall be fully aware of them.
