Merits
Surah al-Fatihah is a cure for physical and also spiritual ailments. Without this Surah, even the daily prayers are incomplete. It is indeed a great treasure that has been given to us by Allah (s.w.t.) through the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) and no previous prophet has been given anything like it. This Surah is also known as ‘Ummul Kitab’ and ‘Sab’a Masaani’.
Text and Translation
بِسۡمِ اللهِ الرَّحۡمٰنِ الرَّحِيۡمِ (1)
BISMIL LAAHIR RAHMAANIR RAHEEM
In the Name of Allah, the All-merciful, the All-compassionate
اَلۡحَمۡدُ لِلّٰهِ رَبِّ الۡعٰلَمِيۡنَۙ (2)
AL-HAMDO LILLAAHE RABBIL A’ALAMEENAR.
All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds.
الرَّحۡمٰنِ الرَّحِيۡمِۙ (3)
RAHMAANIR RAHEEM.
The Beneficent, the Merciful.
مٰلِكِ يَوۡمِ الدِّيۡنِؕ (4)
MAALEKE YAUMID DEEN.
Master of the Day of Judgment.
اِيَّاكَ نَعۡبُدُ وَاِيَّاكَ نَسۡتَعِيۡنُؕ (5)
IYYAAKA NA’BODO WA IYYAAKA NASTA-E’EN.
Thee do we serve and Thee do we beseech for help.
اِهۡدِنَا الصِّرَاطَ الۡمُسۡتَقِيۡمَۙ (6)
EHDENAS SERAATAL MUSTAQEEM.
Keep us on the right path.
صِرَاطَ الَّذِيۡنَ اَنۡعَمۡتَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ ۙ غَيۡرِ الۡمَغۡضُوۡبِ عَلَيۡهِمۡ وَلَا الضَّآلِّيۡنَ (7)
SERAATAL LAZEENA AN-A’MTA A’LAYHIM, GHAYRIL MAGHZOOBE A’LAYHIM WA LAZ-ZAAALLEEN.
The path of those upon whom Thou hast bestowed favors. Not (the path) of those upon whom Thy wrath is brought down, nor of those who go astray.
