Text and Translation

Ziyarat of Ameerul Momineen (a.s.)

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَی الشَّجَرَةِ النَّبَوِيَّةِ

ASSALAAMO A’LASH SHAJARATIN NABAWIYYATE

Peace be upon the Prophetic Tree,

وَ الدَّوْحَةِ الْهَاشِمِيَّةِ الْمُضِيْئَةِ

WAD DAWHATIL HAASHEMIYYATIL MOZEE-ATIL

And the Illuminating Hashemite Lote Tree,

الْمُثْمِرَةِ بِالنَّبُوَّةِ

MUSMERATE BIN-NUBUWWATIL

The one that bears the fruit of Prophethood,

الْمُوْنِقَةِ بِالْاِمَامَةِ

MOONEQATE BIL-EMAAMATE

The one that blossoms with the Imamate.

وَ عَلٰی ضَجِيْعَيْكَ اٰدَمَ وَ نُوْحٍ عَلَيْهِمَا السَّلَامُ

WA A’LAA ZAJEEA’YKA AADAMA WA NOOHIN A’LAYHEMAS SALAAMO

And upon your two resting companions: Adam and Noah, Peace be upon them both.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ وَ عَلٰی اَهْلِ بَيْتِكَ الطَّيِّبِيْنَ الطَّاهِرِيْنَ

ASSALAAMO A’LAYKA WA A’LAA AHLE BAYTEKAT TAYYEBEENAT TAAHEREENA

Peace be upon you and upon your Household (Ahl al-Bayt), the pure and immaculate.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ وَ عَلَی الْمَلَآئِكَةِ الْمُحْدِقِيْنَ بِكَ

ASSALAAMO A’LAYKA WA A’LAL MALAAAEKATIL MOHDEQEENA BEKA

Peace be upon you and upon the Angels surrounding you,

وَ الْحَآفِّيْنَ بِقَبْرِكَ

WAL HAAAFFEENA BE-QABREKA

and encompassing your tomb.

يَا مَوْلَایَ يَا اَمِيْرَ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ

YAA MAWLAAYA YAA AMEERAL MOMENEENA

O my Master, O Commander of the Faithful,

هٰذَا يَوْمُ الْاَحَدِ

HAAZAA YAWMUL AHADE

Today is Sunday,

وَ هُوَ يَوْمُكَ وَ بِاسْمِكَ

WA HOWA YAWMOKA WA BISMEKA

which is your day and carrying your name,

وَ اَنَا ضَيْفُكَ فِيْهِ وَ جَارُكَ

WA ANAA ZAYFOKA FEEHE WA JAAROKA

And I am your guest therein and your neighbour (under your protection).

فَاَضِفْنِیْ يَا مَوْلَایَ وَ اَجِرْنِیْ

FA-AZIFNEE YAA MAWLAAYA WA AJIRNEE

So, host me, O my Master, and grant me protection,

فَاِنَّكَ كَرِيْمٌ تُحِبُّ الضِّيَافَةَ

FA-INNAKA KAREEMUN TOHIBBUZ ZEYAAFATE

For indeed, you are generous, you love hospitality,

وَ مَاْمُوْرٌ بِالْاِجَارَةِ

WA MAAMOORUN BIL EJAARATE

and you are commanded to treat your neighbours hospitably.

فَافْعَلْ مَا رَغِبْتُ اِلَيْكَ فِيْهِ

FAF-A’L MAA RAGHIBTO ELAYKA FEEHE

Therefore, do what I have desired from you,

وَ رَجَوْتُهٗ مِنْكَ

WA RAJAWTOHU MINKA

And hoped for from you,

بِمَنْزِلَتِكَ وَ اٰلِ بَيْتِكَ عِنْدَ اللهِ

BE-MANZELATEKA WA AALE BAYTEKA I’NDAL LAAHE

By the status of you and your Household with Allah,

وَ مَنْزِلَتِهٖ عِنْدَكُمْ

WA MANZELATEHI I’NDAKUM

And by His status with you,

وَ بِحَقِّ ابْنِ عَمِّكَ رَسُوْلِ اللهِ

WA BEHAQQIB NE A’MMEKA RASOOLIL LAAHE

And by the right of your cousin, the Messenger of Allah,

صَلَّی اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ اٰلِهٖ وَ سَلَّمَ

SALLAL LAAHO A’LAYHE WA AALEHI WA SALLAMA

May Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him and his Household,

وَ عَلَيْهِمْ اَجْمَعِيْنَ.

WA A’LAYHIM AJME’EN.

and upon all of them.

Ziyarah of Lady Faatemah al-Zahra (s.a.)

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكِ يَا مُمْتَحَنَةُ

ASSALLAAMO A’LAYKE YAA MUMTAHANATUM

Peace be upon you, O Examined One.

امْتَحَنَكِ الَّذِیْ خَلَقَكِ

TAHANAKIL LAZEE KHALAQAKE

He Who created you, examined you,

فَوَجَدَكِ لِمَا امْتَحَنَكِ صَابِرَةً

FAWAJADAKE LEMAM TAHANAKE SAABERATAN

and found that you have passed the examination patiently.

اَنَا لَكِ مُصَدِّقٌ

ANAA LAKE MOSADDEQUN

I am one who believes in you,
