Ziyaarat-e-Jaameah Kabeerah

Text and Translation

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ يَا اَهْلَ بَيْتِ النُّبُوَّةِ

ASSALAAMO A’LAYKUM YAA AHLA BAYTIN NOBUWWATE

Peace be upon you, O Household of Prophethood,

وَمَوْضِعَ الرِّسَالَةِ

WA MAWZEA’R RESAALATE

location of the Divine mission,

وَمُخْتَلَفَ الْمَلَآئِكَةِ

WA MUKHTALAFAL MALAAA-EKATE

frequently visited by the angels,

وَمَهْبِطَ الْوَحْىِ

WA MAHBETIL WAHYE

destination of the Divine revelation,

وَمَعْدِنَ الرَّحْمَةِ

WA MAA’-DENAR RAHMATE

core of mercy,

وَخُزَّانَ الْعِلْمِ

WA KHUZZAANAL I’LME

hoarders of knowledge,

وَمُنْتَهَى الْحِلمِ

WA MUNTAHAL HILME

ultimate degree of forbearance,

وَاُصُوْلَ الْكَرَمِ

WA OSOOLAL KARAME

origins of generosity,

وَقَادَةَ الْاُمَمِ

WA QAADATAL UMAME

leaders of all nations,

وَاَوْلِيَآءَ النِّعَمِ

WA AWLEYAAA-AN NE-A’ME

sustainers of bounties,

وَعَنَاصِرَ الْاَبْرَارِ

WA A’NAASERAL ABRAARE

foundations of the dutiful,

وَدَعَآئِمَ الْاَخْيَارِ

WA DA-A’AA-EMAL AKHYAARE

pillars of the upright,

وَسَاسَةَ الْعِبَادِ

WA SAASATAL E’BAADE

maintainers of the servants (of Allah),

وَاَرْكَانَ الْبِلاَدِ

WA ARKAANAL BELAADE

props of the lands,

وَاَبْوَابَ الْاِيْمَانِ

WA ABWAABAL EEMAANE

doors to true faith,

وَاُمَنَآءَ الرَّحْمٰنِ

WA OMANAAA-AR RAHMAANE

trustees of the All-beneficent (Allah),

وَسُلاَلَةَ النَّبِيِّيْنَ

WA SOLAALATAN NABIYYEENA

descendants of the Prophets,

وَصِفْوَةَ الْمُرْسَلِيْنَ

WA SIFWATAL MURSALEENA

choice of the Messengers,

وَعِتْرَةَ خِيَرَةِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِيْنَ

WA I’TRATA KHEYARATE RABBIL A’ALAMEENA

and offspring of the select of the Lord of the worlds.

وَرَحْمْةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهٗ

WA RAHMATULLAAHE WA BARAKAATOHU

Allah’s mercy and blessings, too, be upon you (all).

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلٰى اَئِمَّةِ الْهُدٰى

ASSALAAMO A’LAA A-IMMATIL HODAA

Peace be upon the directors of right guidance,

وَمَصَابِيْحِ الدُّجٰى

WA MASAABEEHID DOJAA

the lanterns in darkness,

وَاَعْلاَمِ التُّقٰى

WA AA’-LAAMIT TOQAA

the patterns of piety,

وَذَوِى النُّهٰى

WA ZAWIN NOHAA

the owners of understanding,

وَاُولِى الْحِجٰى

WA OLIL HEJAA

the endued with thought,

وَكَهْفِ الْوَرٰى

WA KAHFIL WARAA WA

the havens for the peoples,

وَوَرَثَةِ اَلْاَنْبِيَآءِ

WARASATIL AMBIYAAA-E

the inheritors of the Prophets,

وَالْمَثَلِ الْاَعْلٰى

WAL MASALIL AA’-LAA

the perfect specimen,

وَالدَّعْوَةِ الْحُسْنٰى

WADDAA’-WATIL HUSNAA

the most excellent call,

وَحُجَجِ اللهِ عَلٰى اَهْلِ الدُّنْيَا

WA HOJAJILLAAHE A’LAA AHLID DUNYAA

and the arguments of Allah against the inhabitants of the world,

وَالْاٰخِرَةِ وَالْاُوْلٰى

WAL AAKHERATE WAL OOLAA

the Hereafter, and the former world.

وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهٗ

WA RAHMATUL LAAHE WA BARAKAATOHU

Allah’s mercy and blessings, too, be upon you (all).

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلٰى مَحَالِّ مَعْرِفَةِ اللهِ

ASSALAAMO A’LAA MAHAALLE MAA’-REFATILLAAHE

Peace be upon the exponents of the recognition of Allah,

وَمَسَاكِنِ بَرَكَةِ اللهِ

WA MASAAKENE BARAKATIL LAAHE

the centers of Allah’s blessing,

وَمَعَادِنِ حِكْمَةِ اللهِ

WA MA-A’ADENE HIKMATIL LAAHE

the essence of Allah’s wisdom,

وَحَفَظَةِ سِرِّ اللهِ

WA HAFAZATE SIRRIL LAAHE

the keepers of Allah’s secrets,

وَحَمَلَةِ كِتَابِ اللهِ

WA HAMALATE KETAABIL LAAHE

the bearers of Allah’s Book,

وَاَوْصِيَآءِ نَبِىِّ اللهِ

WA AWSEYAAA-E NABIYYILLAAHE

the successors of Allah’s Prophet,

وَذُرِّيَّةِ رَسُوْلِ اللهِ

WA ZURRIYYATE RASOOLIL LAAHE

and the progeny of Allah’s Messenger,

صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ

SALLALLAAHO A’LAYHE WA AALEHI

may Allah send blessings upon him and his Household.

وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهٗ

WA RAHMATULLAAHE WA BARAKAATOHU

Allah’s mercy and blessings, too, be upon them.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَى الدُّعَاةِ اِلَى اللهِ

ASSALAAMO A’LAD DO-A’ATE ELALLAAHE

Peace be upon the callers to Allah,

وَالْاَدِلَّآءِ عَلٰى مَرْضَاتِ اللهِ

WAL ADILLAAA-E A’LAA MARZAATIL LAAHE

the leaders to Allah’s pleasure,

وَالْمُسْتَقِرِّيْنَ فِىْ اَمْرِ اللهِ

WAL MUSTAQIRREENA FEE AMRIL LAAHE

the abiders by Allah’s decree,

وَالتَّآمِّيْنَ فِىْ مَحَبَّةِ اللهِ

WATTAAAMMEENA FEE MAHABBATIL LAAHE

the perfect in love for Allah,

وَالْمُخْلِصِيْنَ فِىْ تَوْحِيْدِ اللهِ

WAL MUKHLESEENA FEE TAWHEEDILLAAHE

the sincere in professing Allah’s Oneness,

وَالْمُظْهِرِيْنَ لِاَمْرِا للهِ وَنَهْيِهٖ

WAL MUZHEREEENA LE-AMRILLAAHE WA NAHYEHI

the manifesters of Allah’s orders and prohibitions,

وَعِبَادِهِ الْمُكْرَمِيْنَ

WA E’BAADEHIL MUKRAMEENAL

and Allah’s honored bondmen

الَّذِيْنَ لاَ يَسْبِقُوْنَهُ بِالْقَوْلِ

LAZEENA LAA YASBEQOONAHU BIL QAWLE

who speak not until He has spoken

وَهُمْ بِاَمْرِهٖ يَعْمَلُوْنَ

WA HUM BE-AMREHI YAA’-MALOON

and act by His command.

وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهٗ

WA RAHMATULLAAHE WA BARAKAATOHU

Allah’s mercy and blessings, too, be upon them.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَى الْاَئِمَّةِ الدُّعَاةِ

ASSALAAMO A’LAL A-IMMATID DO-A’ATE

Peace be upon the Imams, the heralds,

وَالْقَادَةِ الْهُدَاةِ

WAL QAADATIL HODAATE

the leaders, the guides,

وَالسَّادَةِ الْوُلاَةِ

WAS SAADATIL WOLAATE

the chiefs, the authorities,

وَالذَّادَةِ الْحُمَاةِ

WAZ ZAADATIL HOMAATE

the defenders, the protectors,

وَاَهْلِ الذِّكْرِ

WA AHLIZ ZIKRE

the people of the Reminder (i.e. the Qur’an),

وَاُوْلِى الْاَمْرِ

WA OOLIL AMR

the men in authority,

وَبَقِيَّةِ اللهِ وَخِيَرَتِهٖ

WA BAQIYYATILLAAHE WA KHEYARATEHI

the left ones by Allah, His select,

وَحِزْبِهٖ وَعَيْبَةِ عِلْمِهٖ

WA HIZBEHI WA A’YBATE I’LMEHI

His party, the case of His knowledge

وَحُجَّتِهٖ وَصِرَاطِهٖ

WA HUJJATEHI WA SIRAATEHI

His argument, His path,

وَنُوْرِهٖ وَبُرْهَانِهٖ

WA NOOREHI WA BURHAANEHI

His light, and His proof.

وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهٗ

WA RAHMATULLAAHE WA BARAKAATOHU

Allah’s mercy and blessings, too, be upon them.

اَشْهَدُ اَنْ لاَّ اِلٰهَ اِلاَّ اللهُ

ASH-HADO AN LAA ELAAHA ILLALLAAHO

I bear witness that there is no god save Allah;

وَحْدَهُ لاَ شَرِيْكَ لَهٗ

WAHDAHU LAA SHAREEKA LAHU

One and Only and having no partner with Him

كَمَا شَهِدَ اللهُ لِنَفْسِهٖ

KAMAA SHAHEDALLAAHO LENAFSEHI

just as Allah has testified to His Oneness

وَشَهِدَتْ لَهُ مَلَآئِكَتُهٗ

WA SHAHEDAT LAHU MALAAA-EKATOHU

to which His angels

وَاُولُوا الْعِلْمِ مِنْ خَلْقِهٖ

WA OLOOL I’LME MIN KHALQEHI

and his knowledgeable creatures testify.

لاَ اِلٰهَ اِلاَّ هُوَ الْعَزِيْزُ الْحَكِيْمُ

LAA ELAAHA ILLAA HOWAL A’ZEEZUL HAKEEMO

There is no god save Him; the Almighty, the All-wise.

وَاَشْهَدُ اَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ الْمُنْتَجَبُ

WA ASH-HADO ANNA MOHAMMADAN A’BDOHUL MUNTAJABO

I also bear witness that Muhammad is His elect servant

وَرَسُوْلُهُ الْمُرْتَضٰى

WA RASOOLOHUL MURTAZAA

and His approved Messenger.

اَرْسَلَهُ بِالْهُدٰى وَدِيْنِ الْحَقِّ

ARSALAHU BIL HODAA WA DEENIL HAQQE

He sent him with right guidance and with the Religion of truth

لِيُظْهِرَهُ عَلَى الدِّيْنِ كُلِّهٖ

LE-YUZHERAHU A’LAD DEENE KULLEHI

that He may cause it to prevail over all religions

وَلَوْ كَرِهَ الْمُشْرِكُوْنَ

WA LAW KAREHAL MUSHREKOONA

however much the idol-worshippers may be averse.

وَاَشْهَدُ اَنَّكُمُ الْاَئِمَّةُ الرَّاشِدُوْنَ

WA ASH-HADO ANNAKOMUL A-IMMATUR RAASHEDOONAL

I also bear witness that you all are the Imams, rightly guiding,

الْمَهْدِيُّوْنَ الْمَعْصُوْمُوْنَ

MADHIYYOONAL MAA’-SOOMOONAL

well-guided, infallible,

الْمُكَرَّمُوْنَ الْمُقَرَّبُوْنَ

MOKARRAMOONAL MOQARRABOONAL

highly revered, drawn near (to Allah),

الْمُتَّقُوْنَ الصَّادِقُوْنَ

MUTTAQOONAS SAADEQOONAL

pious, veracious,

الْمُصْطَفُوْنَ الْمُطِيْعُوْنَ لِلّٰهِ

MUSTAFOONAL MOTEE-O’ONA LILLAAHIL

well-chosen, obedient to Allah,

الْقَوَّامُوْنَ بِاَمْرِهِ

QAWWAAMOONA BE-AMREHIL

establishing His rule,

الْعَامِلُوْنَ بِاِرَادَتِهِ

A’AMELOONA BE-ERAADATEHIL

putting into practice His will,

الْفَائِزُوْنَ بِكَرَامَتِهٖ

FAA-EZOONA BE KARAAMATE HI

and winning His honoring.

اِصْطَفَاكُمْ بِعِلْمِهٖ

ISTAFAAKUM BE-I’LMEHI

He chose you on account of His (eternal) knowledge,

وَارْتَضَاكُمْ لِغَيْبِهٖ

WAR-TAZAAKUM LE-GHAYBEHI

approved of you to maintain His unseen knowledge,

وَاخْتَارَكُمْ لِسِرِهٖ

WAKH-TAARAKUM LESIRREHI

selected you to keep His secret,

وَاجْتَبَاكُمْ بِقُدْرَتِهٖ

WAJ-TABAAKUM BE QUDRATEHI

decided on you by means of His omnipotence,

وَاَعَزَّكُمْ بِهُدَاهُ

WA A-A’ZZAKUM BE HODAAHO

equipped you with His guidance,

وَخَصَّكُمْ بِبُرْهَانِهٖ

WA KHASSAKUM BEBURHAANEHI

distinguished you with His clear proofs,

وَانْتَجَبَكُمْ لِنُوْرِهٖ

WANTAJABAKUM LENOOREHI

chose you to hold His Light,

وَاَيَّدُكُمْ بِرُوْحِهٖ

WA AYYADAKUM BIROOHIHI

supported you with His Holy spirit,

وَرَضِيَكُمْ خُلَفَآءَ فِىْ اَرْضِهٖ

WA RAZEYAKUM KHULAFAAA-A FEE ARZEHI

and accepted you as vicegerents in His lands,

وَحُجَجًا عَلٰى بَرِيَّتِهٖ

WA HUJAJAN A’LAA BARIYYATEHI

arguments against His beings,

وَاَنْصَارًا لِّدِيْنِهٖ

WA ANSAARAN LE DEENEHI

supporters of His religion,

وَحَفَظَةً لِّسِرِّهٖ

WA HAFAZATAN LE SIRREHI

keepers of His secret,

وَخَزَنَةً لِّعِلْمِهٖ

WA KHAZANATAN LE I’LMEHI

hoarders of His knowledge,

وَمُسْتَوْدَعًا لِّحِكْمَتِهٖ

WA MUSTAWDA-A’N LE HIKMATEHI

stores of His wisdom,

وَتَرَاجِمَةً لِّوَحْيِهٖ

WA TARAAJEMATAN LE WAHYEHI

interpreters of His revelation,

وَاَرْكَانًا لِّتَوْحِيْدِهٖ

WA ARKAANAN LE TAWHEEDEHI

pillars of the profession of His Oneness,

وَشُهْدَآءَ عَلٰى خَلْقِهٖ

WA SHOHADAAA-A A’LAA KHALQEHI

witnesses on His creatures,

وَاَعْلاَمًا لِّعِبَادِهٖ

WA AA’-LAAMAN LE E’BAADEHI

signs for His servants,

وَمَنَارًا فِىْ بِلاَدِهٖ

WA MANAARAN FEE BELAADEHI

torches in His lands,

وَاَدِلَّآءَ عَلٰى صِرَاطِهٖ

WA ADILLAAA-A A’LAA SERAATEHI

and directors to His path.

عَصَمَكُمُ اللهُ مِنَ الزَّلَلِ

A’SAMAKOMULLAAHO MENAZ ZALALE

Allah has preserved you against slips,

وَاٰمَنَكُمْ مِنَ الْفِتَنِ

WA AAMANAKUM MENAL FETANE

secured you against seditious matters,

وَطَهَّرَكُمْ مِنَ الْدَّنَسِ

WA TAHHARAKUM MENAD DANASE

purified you from dirt,

وَاَذْهَبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ

WA AZHABA A’NKOMUR RIJSA

removed away from you uncleanness,

وَطَهَّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيْرًا

WA TAHHARAKUM TATHEERAN

and purified you with a thorough purifying.

فَعَظَّمْتُمْ جَلاَلَهِ

FA A’ZZAMTUM JALAALAHU

So, you have glorified His majesty,

وَاَكْبَرْتُمْ شَانَهُ

WA AKBARTUM SHAANAHU

declared great His magnificence,

وَمَجَّدْتُمْ كَرَمَهُ

WA MAJJADTUM KARAMAHU

glorified His nobility,

وَاَدَمْتُمْ ذِكْرَهُ

WA ADAMTUM ZIKRAHU

perpetuated mentioning Him,

وَوَكَّدْتُمْ مِيْثَاقَهُ

WA WAKKADTUM MEESAAQAHU

consolidated His covenant,

وَاَحْكَمْتُمْ عَقْدَ طَاعَتِهٖ

WA AHKAMTUM A’QDA TAA-A’TEHI

made firm your pledge of obedience to Him,

وَنَصَحْتُمْ لَهٗ فِى السِّرِّ وَالْعَلاَنِيَةِ

WA NASAHTUM LAHU FIS SIRRE WAL A’LAANEYAH

acted sincerely to Him privately and publicly,

وَدَعَوْتُمْ اِلٰى سَبِيْلِهٖ

WA DA-A’WTUM ELAA SABEELEHI

called unto His way

بِالْحِكْمَةِ وَالْمَوْعِظَةِ الْحَسَنَةِ

BIL HIKMATE WAL MAW-I’ZATIL HASANATE

with wisdom and fair admonition,

وَبَذَلْتُمْ اَنْفُسَكُمْ فِىْ مَرْضَاتِهٖ

WA BAZALTUM ANFOSAKUM FEE MARZAATEHI

sacrificed yourselves for the sake of attaining His pleasure,

وَصَبَرْتُمْ عَلٰى مَا اَصَابَكُمْ فِىْ جَنْبِهٖ

WA SABARTUM A’LAA MAA ASAABAKUM FEE JANBEHI

acted patiently towards what has befallen you for His sake,

وَاَقَمْتُمُ الصَّلٰوةَ

WA AQAMTOMUS SALAATA

performed the prayers,

وَاٰتَيْتُمُ الزَّكٰوةَ

WA AATAYTOMUZ ZAKAATA

defrayed the poor-rate,

وَاَمَرْتُمْ بِالْمَعْرُوْفِ

WA AMARTUM BIL MAA’-ROOFE

enjoined the right,

وَنَهَيْتُمْ عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ

WA NAHAYTUM A’NIL MUNKARE

forbade the wrong,

وَجَاهَدْتُمْ فِى اللهِ حَقَّ جِهَادِهٖ

WA JAAHADTUM FILLAAHE HAQQA JEHAADEHI

and strived in the way of Allah as exactly as striving should be

حَتّٰى اَعْلَنْتُمْ دَعْوَتَهُ

HATTAA AA’-LANTUM DA’-WATAHU

until you made known His call,

وَبَيَّنْتُمْ فَرَآئِضَهٗ

WA BAYYANTUM FARAAA-EZAHU

rendered clear His obligations,

وَاَقَمْتُمْ حُدُوْدَهُ

WA AQAMTUM HODOODAHU

executed His provisions,

وَنَشَرْتُمْ شَرَايِعَ اَحْكَامِهٖ

WA NASHARTUM SHARAAYE-A’ AHKAAMEHI

propagated for the enacted laws of Him,

وَسَنَنْتُمْ سُنَّتَهُ

WA SANANTUM SUNNATUHA

acted out His rules,

وَصِرْتُمْ فِىْ ذٰلِكَ مِنْهُ اِلَى الرِّضَا

WA SIRTUM FEE ZAALEKA MINHO ELAR REZAA

attained His pleasure through carrying out all these matters,

وَسَلَّمْتُمْ لَهُ الْقَضَآءَ

WA SALLAMTUM LAHUL QAZAAA-A

surrendered to His will,

وصَدَّقْتُمْ مِنْ رُسُلِهٖ مَنْ مَضٰى

WA SADDAQTUM MIN ROSOLEHI MAN MAZAA

and confirmed the truth of the past Messengers of Him.

فَالرَّاغِبُ عَنْكُمْ مَارِقٌ

FAR-RAAGHEBO A’NKUM MAAREQUN

Therefore, whoever forsakes you is apostate,

وَاللَّازِمُ لَكُمْ لاَحِقٌ

WAL LAAZEMO LAKUM LAAHEQUN

whoever adheres to you will attain the destination,

وَالْمُقَصِّرُ فِىْ حَقِّكُمْ زَاهِقٌ

WAL MOQASSERO FEE HAQQEKUM ZAAHEQUN

and whoever fails to carry out the duties towards you will perish.

وَالْحَقُّ مَعَكُمْ وَفِيْكُمْ

WAL HAQQO MA-A’KUM WA FEEKUM

Verily, the truth is always with you, amid you,

وَمِنْكُمْ وَاِلَيْكُمْ

WA MINKUM WA ELAYKUM

from you, and to you.

وَاَنْتُمْ اَهْلُهٗ وَمَعْدِنُهٗ

WA ANTUM AHLOHU WA MA’-DENOHU

You are the people and the core of it (i.e. the truth).

وَمِيْرَاثُ النُّبُوَّةِ عِنْدَكُمْ

WA MEERAASUN NOBUWWATE I’NDAKUM

The inheritance of Prophethood is with you.

وَاِيَابُ الْخَلْقِ اِلَيْكُمْ

WA EYAABUL KHALQE ELAYKUM

The ultimate destination of the creatures is to you.

وَحِسَابُهُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ

WA HISAABOHUM A’LAYKUM

Calling them to account is your mission.

وَفَصْلُ الْخِطَابِ عِنْدَكُمْ

WA FASLUL KHETAABE I’NDAKUM

Decisive speech is with you.

وَاٰيَاتُ اللهِ لَدَيْكُمْ

WA AAYAATULLAAHE LADAYKUM

The verses of Allah is in your possession.

وَعَزَآئِمُهٗ فِيْكُمْ

WA A’ZAAA-EMOHU FEEKUM

His unavoidable decrees rely upon you.

وَنُوْرُهٗ وَبُرْهَانُهٗ عِنْدَكُمْ

WA NOOROHU WA BURHAANOHU I’NDAKUM

His light and proof are with you.

وَاَمْرُهٗ اِلَيْكُمْ

WA AMROHU ELAYKUM MAN

His authority is to you.

مَنْ وَالَاكُمْ فَقَدْ وَالَى اللهَ

WAALAAKUM FAQAD WA LALLAAHA

Whoever declares loyalty to you has in fact declared loyalty to Allah,

وَمَنْ عَادَاكُمْ فَقَدْ عَادَ اللهَ

WA MAN A’ADAAKUM FAQAD A’ADALLAAHA

whoever shows enmity towards you has in fact shown enmity towards Allah,

وَمَنْ اَحَبَّكُمْ فَقَدْ اَحَبَّ اللهَ

WA MAN AHABBAKUM FAQAD AHABBALLAAHA

whoever loves you has in fact loved Allah,

وَمَنْ اَبْغَضَكُمْ فَقَدْ اَبْغَضَ اللهَ

WA MAN ABGAZAKUM FAQAD ABGAZALLAAHA

whoever hates you has in fact hated Allah,

وَمَنِ اعْتَصَمَ بِكُمْ فَقَدِ اعْتَصَمَ بِاللهِ

WA MANEA’ TASAMA BEKUM FAQADEA’-TASAMA BILLAAHE

and whoever holds fast to you has in fact held fast to Allah.

اَنْتُمُ السَّبِيْلُ الْاَعْظَمُ

ANTOMUS SABEELUL AA’-ZAMO

You are the main means of approach the right way

وَالصِّرَاطُ الْاَقْوَمُ

WAS SERAATUL AQWAMO

and the most straight path,

وَشُهَدَآءُ دَارِالْفَنَآءِ

WA SHOHADAAA-O DAARIL FANAAE

the witnesses of this abode of extinction,

وَشُفَعَآءُ دَارِالْبَقَآءِ

WA SHOFA-A’AA-O DAARIL BAQAA-E

the intercessors in the abode of permanence,

وَالرَّحْمَةُ الْمَوْصُوْلَةُ

WAR RAHMATUL MAWSOOLATO

the connected mercy,

وَالْاٰيَةُ الْمَخْزُوْنَةُ

WAL AAYATUL MAKHZOONATO

the stored sign,

وَالْاَمَانَةُ الْمَحْفُوْظَةُ

WAL AMAANATUL MAHFOOZATO

the safeguarded deposit,

وَالْبَابُ الْمُبْتَلٰى بِهِ النَّاسُ

WAL BAABUL MUBTALAA BEHIN NAASO

and the door with which people are put to test.

مَنْ اَتٰيكُمْ نَجٰى

MAN ATAAKUM NAJAA

Whoever comes to will have been saved

وَمَنْ لَمْ يَاْتِكُمْ هَلَكَ

WA MAN LAM YAATEKUM HALAKA

but whoever refrains from joining you will have perished.

اِلَى اللهِ تَدْعُوْنَ

ELALLAAHE TAD-O’ONA

To Allah do you invite people,

وَعَلَيْهِ تَدُلُّوْنَ

WA A’LAYHE TADULLOONA

towards him do you show the way,

وَبِهٖ تُؤْمِنُوْنَ

WA BEHI TOO-MENOONA

in Him do you believe,

وَلَهُ تُسَلِّمُوْنَ

WA LAHU TOSALLEMOONA

to Him do you submit,

وَبِاَمْرِهٖ تَعْمَلُوْنَ

WA BE-AMREHI TA’-MALOONA

upon His command do you act,

وَاِلٰى سَبِيْلِهٖ تُرْشِدُوْنَ

WA ELAA SABEELEHI TURSHEDOONA

to His path do you direct,

وَبِقَوْلِهٖ تَحْكُمُوْنَ

WA BE QAWLEHI TAHKOMOONA

and according to His saying do you judge.

سَعَدَ مَنْ وَالَاكُمْ

SA-A’DA MAN WAALAAKUM

Happy is he who is loyal to you,

وَهَلَكَ مَنْ عَادَاكُمْ

WA HALAKA MAN A’ADAAKUM

desolate is he who forsakes you,

وَخَابَ مَنْ جَحَدَكُمْ

WA KHAABA MAN JAHADAKUM

disappointed is he who denies you,

وَضَلَّ مَنْ فَارَقَكُمْ

WA ZALLA MAN FAARAQAKUM

straying off is he who separates himself from you,

وَفَازَ مَنْ تَمَسَّكَ بِكُمْ

WA FAAZA MAN TAMASSAKA BEKUM

winner is he who adheres to you,

وَاَمِنَ مَنْ لَجَاَ اِلَيْكُمْ

WA AMENA MAN LAJA-A ELAYKUM

secured is he who resorts to you,

وَسَلِمَ مَنْ صَدَّقَكُمْ

WA SALEMA MAN SADDAQAKUM

saved is he who gives credence to you,

وَهُدِىَ مَنِ اعْتَصَمَ بِكُمْ

WA HODEYA MANEA’ TASAMA BEKUM

and rightly guided is he who takes shelter in you.

مَنِ اتَّبَعَكُمْ فَالْجَنَّةُ مَاْوَاهُ

MANIT-TABA-A’KUM FAL JANNATO MAAWAAHO

As to whoever follows you, Paradise will be his abode.

وَمَنْ خَالَفَكُمْ فَالنَّارُ مَثْوَاهُ

WA MAN KHAALAFAKUM FAN-NAARO MASWAAHO

As to whoever dissents you, Hellfire will be his dwelling.

وَمَنْ جَحَدَكُمْ كَافِرٌ

WA MAN JAHADAKUM KAAFERUN

He who denies you is unbeliever,

وَمَنْ حَارَبَكُمْ مُشْرِكٌ

WA MAN HAARABAKUM MUSHREKUN

he who makes war against you is polytheist,

وَمَنْ رَدَّ عَلَيْكُمُ فِىْ اَسْفَلِ دَرَكٍ مِنَ الْجَحِيْمِ

WA MAN RADDA A’LAYKUM FEE ASFALE DARAKIN MENAL JAHEEME

and he who objects to you will be in the lowest tier of the burning fire.

اَشْهَدُ اَنَّ هٰذَا سَابِقٌ لَكُمْ فِيْمَا مَضٰى

ASH-HADO ANNA HAAZAA SAABEQUN LAKUM FEEMAA MAZAA

I bear witness that all the previous was pre-decided for you

وَجَارٍ لَكُمْ فِيْمَا بَقِىَ

WA JAARIN LAKUM FEEMAA BAQEYA

and it will continue in the future;

وَاَنَّ اَرْوَاحَكُمْ وَنُوْرَكُمْ

WA ANNA ARWAAHAKUM WA NOORAKUM

and that your souls, your light,

وَطِيْنَتَكُمْ وَاحِدَةٌ

WA TEENATAKUM WAAHEDATUN

and your form are the same;

طَابَتْ وَطَهُرَتْ

TAABAT WA TAHORAT

blessed and purified,

بَعْضُهَا مِنْ بَعْضٍ

BA’-ZOHAA MIN BAA’-ZIN

and one of the other.

خَلَقَكُمُ اللهُ اَنْوَارًا

KHALAQAKOMULLAAHO ANWAARAN

Allah created you as lights;

فَجَعَلَكُمْ بِعَرْشِهٖ مُحْدِقِيْنَ

FAJA-A’LAKUM BE A’RSHEHI MOHDEQEENA

He then made you observe from His Throne

حَتّٰى مَنَّ عَلَيْنَا بِكُمْ

HATTA MANNA A’LAYNAA BEKUM

until He endued us with the favor of your existence (among us)

فَجَعَلَكُمْ فِىْ بُيُوْتٍ

FAJ-A’LAKUM FEE BOYOOTIN

and then placed you in houses

اَذِنَ اللهُ اَن تُرْفَعَ

AZENALLAAHO AN TURFA-A’

that He allowed to be raised

وَيُذْكَرَ فِيْهَا اسْمُهٗ

WA YUZKARA FEEHAS-MOHU

and to have His Name mentioned therein.

وَجَعَلَ صَلَوَاتِنَا عَلَيْكُمْ

WA JA-A’LA SALAWAATENAA A’LAYKUM

He also decided our invocation of blessings upon you

وَمَا خَصَّنَا بِهٖ مِنْ وِلاَيَتِكُمْ

WA MAA KHASSANAA BEHI MIN WELAAYATEKUM

and our loyalty to you

طِيْبًا لِخَلْقِنَا

TEEBAN LEKHALQENAA

to be immaculacy of our creation,

وَطَهَارَةً لِاَنْفُسِنَا

WA TAHAARATAN LE-ANFOSENAA

purity of our souls,

وَتَزْكِيَةً لَنَا

WA TAZKEYATAN LANAA

refinement of our manners,

وَكَفَّارَةً لِذُنُوْبِنَا

WA KAFFAARATAN LE ZONOOBENAA

and forgiveness of our sins.

فَكُنَّا عِنْدَهُ مُسَلِّمِيْنَ بِفَضْلِكُمْ

FAKUNNAA I’NDAHU MUSALLEMEENA BE FAZLEKUM

We have thus become, with Him, of those believing in your precedence

وَمَعْرُوْفِيْنَ بِتَصْدِيْقِنَا اِيَّاكُمْ

WA MA’-ROOFEENA BE TASDEEQENAA IYYAAKUM

and of those known for their giving credence to you.

فَبَلَغَ اللهُ بِكُمْ اَشْرَفَ مَحَلِّ الْمُكَرَّمِيْنَ

FABALAGHALLAAHO BEKUM ASHRAFA MAHALLIL MOKARRAMEENA

Thus, Allah has raised you to the most principled place of the honored ones,

وَاَعْلٰى مَنَازِلِ الْمُقَرَّبِيْنَ

WA AA’-LAA MANAAZELIL MOQARRABEENA

the highest station of those drawn near to Him,

وَاَرْفَعَ دَرَجَاتِ الْمُرْسَلِيْنَ

WA ARFA-A’ DARAJAATIL MURSALEENA

and the loftiest ranks of the Messengers

حَيْثُ لاَ يَلْحَقُهٗ لاَحِقٌ

HAYSO LAA YALHAQOHU LAAHEQUN

where none can ever reach you,

وَلاَ يَفُوْقُهٗ فَائِقٌ

WA LAA YAFOOQOHU FAA-EQUN

nor can anyone ever surpass you,

وَلاَ يَسْبِقُهٗ سَابِقٌ

WA LAA YASBEQOHU SAABEQUN

nor can anyone ever precede you,

وَلاَ يَطْمَعُ فِىْ اِدْرَاكِهٖ طَامِعٌ

WA LAA YATMA-O’ FEE IDRAAKEHI TAAME-U’N

no can anyone ever look forward to reaching your positions;

حَتّٰى لاَ يَبْقٰى مَلَكٌ مُقَرَّبٌ

HATTAA LAA YABQAA MALAKUN MOQARRABUN

therefore, no archangel,

وَلاَ نَبِىٌّ مُرْسَلٌ

WA LAA NABIYYUN MURSALUN

commissioned Prophet,

وَلاَ صِدِّيْقٌ وَلاَ شَهِيْدٌ

WA LAA SIDDEEQUN WA LAA SHAHEEDUN

a veracious one, a martyr,

وَلاَ عَالِمٌ وَلاَ جَاهِلٌ

WA LAA A’ALEMUN WA LAA JAAHELUN

a knowledgeable one, an ignorant one,

وَلاَ دَنِىٌّ وَلاَ فَاضِلٌ

WA LAA DANIYYUN WA LAA FAAZELUN

an inferior, a superior,

وَلاَ مُؤْمِنٌ صَالِحٌ

WA LAA MOMENUN SAALEHUN

a righteous believer,

وَلاَ فَاجِرٌ طَالِحٌ

WA LAA FAAJERUN TAALEHUN

a wicked sinner,

وَلاَ جَبَّارٌ عَنِيْدٌ

WA LAA JABBAARUN A’NEEDUN

an obstinate tyrant,

وَلاَ شَيْطَانٌ مَرِيْدٌ

WA LAA SHAYTAANUN MAREEDUN

a devilish rebel,

وَلاَ خَلْقٌ فِيْمَا بَيْنَ ذٰلكَ شَهِيْدٌ

WA LAA KHALQUN FEEMAA BAYNA ZAALEKA SHAHEEDUN

or any other witnessing being among these classes – all of those

اِلاَّ عَرَّفَهُمْ جَلاَلَةَ اَمْرِكُمْ

ILLAA A’RRAFAHUM JALAALATA AMREKUM

were informed by Allah about the majesty of your issue,

وَعَظِمَ خَطَرِكُمْ

WA A’ZEMA KHATAREKUM

the importance of your standing,

وَكِبَرَ شَاْنِكُمْ

WA KEBARA SHAANEKUM

the greatness of your prestige,

وَتَمَامَ نُوْرِكُمْ

WA TAMAAMA NOOREKUM

the thoroughness of your illumination,

وَصِدْقَ مَقَاعِدِكُمْ

WA SIDQA MAQAA-E’DEKUM

the honesty of your position,

وَثَبَاتَ مَقَامِكُمْ

WA SABAATA MAQAAMEKUM

the firmness of your stance,

وَشَرَفَ مَحَلِّكُمْ وَمَنْزِلَتِكُمْ عِنْدَهُ

WA SHARAFA MAHALLEKUM WA MANZELATEKUM E’NDAHU

the honor of your station and position with Him,

وَكَرَامَتَكُمْ عَلَيْهِ

WA KARAAMATAKUM A’LAYHE

your upstanding reputation with Him,

وَخَاصَّتَكُمْ لَدَيْهِ

WA KHAASSATAKUM LADAYHE

your special position with Him,

وَقُرْبَ مَنْزِلَتِكُمْ مِنْهُ

WA QURBA MANZELATEKUM MINHO

and your close location to Him.

بِاَبِىْ اَنْتُمْ وَاُمِّىْ

BE-ABEE ANTUM WA UMMEE

May my father, my mother,

وَاَهْلِىْ وَمَالِىْ وَاُسْرَتِىْ

WA AHLEE WA MAALEE WA USRATEE

my kin, my property, and my family be ransoms for you.

اُشْهِدُ اللهَ وَاُشْهِدُكُمْ

USH-HEDULLAAHA WA USH-HEDOKUM

I beseech Allah and I beseech you all to witness for me

اَنِّىْ مُؤْمِنٌ بِكُمْ وَبِمَا اٰمَنْتُمْ بِهٖ

ANNEE MOMENUN BEKUM WA BEMAA AAMANTUM BEHI

that I believe in you all and in that in which you believe,

كَافِرٌ بِعَدُوِّكُمْ وَبِمَا كَفَرْتُمْ بِهٖ

KAAFERUN BE-A’DUWWEKUM WA BEMAA KAFARTUM BEHI

I renounce your enemies and whatever you renounce,

مُسْتَبْصِرٌ بِشَانِكُمْ

MUSTABSERUN BE SHAANEKUM

I am fully aware of your matter

وَبِضَلاَلَةِ مَنْ خَالَفَكُمْ

WA BI-ZALAALATE MAN KHAALAFAKUM

and of the deviation of those who oppose you,

مُوَالٍ لَكُمْ وَلِاَوْلِيَآئِكُمْ

MOWAALIN LAKUM WA LE AWLEYAAA-EKUM

I am loyalist to you and to your loyalists,

مُبْغِضٌ لِاَعْدَآئِكُمْ وَمُعَادٍ لَهُمْ

MUBGEZUN LE AA’-DAAA-EKUM WA MO-A’ADIN LAHUM

I hate your enemies and I show enmity towards them,

سِلْمٌ لِمَنْ سَالَمَكُمْ

SILMUN LEMAN SAALAMAKUM

I am at peace with those who make peace with you,

وَحَرْبٌ لِمَنْ حَارَبَكُمْ

WA HARBUN LEMAN HAARABAKUM

I take the field against those who march against you,

مُحَقِّقٌ لِمَا حَقَّقْتُمْ

MOHAQQEQUN LEMAA HAQQAQTUM

I accept as true that which you have decided as true,

مُبْطِلٌ لِمَا اَبْطَلْتُمْ

MUBTELUN LEMAA ABTALTUM

I prove false that which you have decided as false,

مُطِيْعٌ لَكُمْ

MOTEE -U’N LAKUM

I am obedient to you,

عَارِفٌ بِحَقِّكُمْ

A’AREFUN BE HAQQEKUM

I recognize your right,

مُقِرٌّ بِفَضْلِكُمْ

MOQIRRUN BE FAZLEKUM

I confess of your superiority,

مُحْتَمِلٌ لِعِلْمِكُمْ

MOHTAMELUN LE-I’LMEKUM

I preserve your knowledge,

مُحْتَجِبٌ بِذِمَّتِكُمْ

MOHTAJEBUN BE ZIMMATEKUM

I take refuge under your protective shelter,

مُعْتَرِفٌ بِكُم

MOA’-TAREFUN BEKUM

I profess you,

مُؤْمِنٌ بِاِيَابِكُمْ

MOMENUN BE-EYAA BEKUM

I believe in your coming back (to this world),

مُصَدِّقٌ بِرَجْعَتِكُمْ

MOSADDEQUN BERAJ-A’TEKUM

I give credence to your return,

مُنْتَظِرٌ لِاَمْرِكُمْ

MUNTAZERUN LE AMREKUM

I am awaiting your issue,

مُرْتَقِبٌ لِدَوْلَتِكُمْ

MURTAQEBUN LE DAWLATEKUM

I am expecting your rule,

اٰخِذٌبِقَوْلِكُمْ

AAKHEZUN BE QAWLEKUM

I take in your sayings,

عَامِلٌ بِاَمْرِكُمْ

A’AMELUN BE AMREKUM

I carry out your orders,

مُسْتَجِيْرٌ بِكُمْ

MUSTAJEERUN BEKUM

I take shelter in you,

زَائِرٌ لَكُمْ

ZAA ERUN LAKUM

I make visits to you

لاَئِذٌ عَائِذٌ بِقُبُوْرِكُمْ

LAA-EZUN A’A-EZUN BE QOBOOREKUM

I resort to and seek protection in your graves,

مُسْتَشْفِعٌ اِلَى اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ بِكُمْ

MUSTASHFE-U’N ELALLAAHE A’ZZA WA JALLA BEKUM

I seek your intercession for me with Allah the Almighty and All-majestic,

وَمُتَقَرِّبٌ بِكُمْ اِلَيْهِ

WA MOTAQARREBUN BEKUM ELAYHE

I seek nearness to Him in your names,

وَمُقَدِّمُكُمْ اَمَامَ طَلِبَتِىْ

WA MOQADDEMOKUM AMAAMA TALEBATEE

I provide you as my means for seeking fulfillment of my desires,

وَحَوَآئِجِىْ وَاِرَادَ تِىْ

WA HAWAAA-EJEE WA ERAADATEE

needs, and wishes,

فِىْ كُلِّ اَحْوَالِىْ وَاُمُوْرِىْ

FEE KULLE AHWAALEE WA OMOOREE

in all of my manners and affairs,

مُؤْمِنٌ بِسِرِّكُمْ وَعَلاَنِيَتِكُمْ

MOMENUN BE SIRREKUM WA A’LAANEYATEKUM

I believe in your invisibility, visibility,

وَشَاهِدِكُمْ وَغَآئِبِكُمْ

WA SHAAHEDEKUM WA GAAA-EBEKUM

presence, absence,

وَاَوَّلِكُمْ وَاٰخِرِكُمْ

WA AWWALEKUM WA AAKHEREKUM

first, and last of you;

وَمُفَوِّضٌ فِىْ ذٰلِكَ كُلِّهٖ اِلَيْكُمْ

WA MOFAWWEZUN FEE ZAALEKA KULLEHI ELAYKUM

and I confide all that to you

وَمُسَلِّمٌ فِيْهِ مَعَكُمْ

WA MUSALLEMUN FEEHI MA-A’KUM

and submit to all of it with you.

وَقَلْبِىْ لَكُمْ مُسَلِّمٌ

WA QALBEE LAKUM MUSALLEMUN

My heart is subservient to you,

وَرَاْيِىْ لَكُمْ تَبَعٌ

WA RAAYEE LAKUM TABA-U’N

my opinion is following yours,

وَنُصْرَ تِىْ لَكُمْ مُعَدَّةٌ

WA NUSRATEE LAKUM MO-A’DDATUN

and my support to you is all set

حَتّٰى يُحْيِىَ اللهُ تَعَالٰى دِيْنَهُ بِكُمْ

HATTAA YUH-YEYALLAAHO TA-A’ALAA DEENAHU BEKUM

until Allah the All-exalted restores His religion to life through you,

وَيَرُدَّكُمْ فِىْ اَيَّامِهٖ

WA YARUDDAKUM FEE AYYAAMEHI

brings you back again in His days,

وَيُظْهِرَكُمْ لِعَدْلِهٖ

WA YUZHERAKUM LE-A’DLEHI

allows you to appear for (establishing) His justice,

وَيُمَكِّنَكُمْ فِىْ اَرْضِهٖ

WA YUMAKKENAKUM FEE ARZEHI

and gives you power to rule in His land.

فَمَعَكُمْ مَعَكُمْ

FAMA-A’KUM MA-A’KUM

So, I am (always) with you, with you,

لاَ مَعَ غَيْرِكُمْ

LAA MA-A’ GHAYREKUM

but not with anyone other than you.

اٰمَنْتُ بِكُمْ

AAMANTO BEKUM

I have full faith in you,

وَتَوَلَّيْتُ اٰخِرَكُمْ بِمَا تَوَلَّيْتُ بِهٖ اَوَّلَكُمْ

WA TAWALLAYTO AAKHERAKUM BEMAA TAWALLAYTO BEHI AWWALAKUM

and I declare my loyalty to the last of you just as I declared it to the first of you.

وَبَرِئْتُ اِلٰى اللهِ عَزَّوَجَلَّ

WA BAREA-TO ELALLAAHE A’ZZA WA JALLA

In the presence of Allah the Almighty and All-majestic, I repudiate

مِنْ اَعْدَآئِكُمْ

MIN AA’-DAAA-EKUM

your enemies,

وَمِنَ الْجِبْتِ وَالطَّاغُوْتِ

WA MENAL JIBTE WAT TAAGOOTE

all idols, false deities,

وَالشَّيَاطِيْنِ

WASH- SHAYAATEENE

the devils,

وَحِزْبِهِمُ الظَّالِمِيْنَ لَكُمْ

WA HIZBEHIMUZ ZAALEMEENA LAKUM

and their party who have wronged you,

وَالْجَاحِدِيْنَ لِحَقِّكُمْ

WAL JAAHEDEENA LE HAQQEKUM

denied your rights,

وَالْمَارِقِيْنَ مِنْ وَلاَيَتِكُمْ

WAL MAAREQEENA MIN WELAAYATEKUM

apostatized from your (divinely commissioned) leadership,

وَالْغَاصِبِيْنَ لِاِرْثِكُمْ

WAL GAASEBEENA LE-IRSEKUM

usurped your inheritance,

وَالشَّاكِّيْنَ فِيْكُمُ

WASH SHAAKKEENA FEEKUM

arisen doubts about you,

الْمُنْحَرِفِيْنَ عَنْكُمْ

WAL MUNHAREFEENA A’NKUM

and deviated from you,

وَمِنْ كُلِّ وَلِيْجَةٍ دُوْنَكُمْ

WA MIN KULLE WALEEJATIN DOONAKUM

and (I repudiate) any adherence to anyone other than you,

وَكُلِّ مُطَاعٍ سِوَاكُمْ

WA KULLE MOTAA-I’N SEWAAKUM

any obeyed one save you,

وَمِنَ الْاَئِمَّةِ الَّذِيْنَ يَدْعُوْنَ اِلَى النَّارِ

WA MENAL A-IMMATIL LAZEENA YAD-O’ONA ELAN NAARE

and the leaders who call to Hellfire.

فَثَبَّتَنِىَ اللهُ اَبَدًا مَا حَيِيْتُ

FASABBATANEYALLAAHO ABADAN MAA HAYEEYTO

May Allah make me firm forever as long as I am alive

عَلٰى مُوَالاَتِكُمْ

A’LAA MOWAALAATEKUM

on loyalty to you,

وَمَحَبَّتِكُمْ وَدِيْنِكُمْ

WA MAHABBATEKUM WA DEENEKUM

love for you, and on your religion.

وَوَفَّقَنِىْ لِطَاعَتِكُمْ

WA WAFFAQANEE LETAA-A’TEKUM

May He grant me success in obedience to you,

وَرَزَقَنِىْ شَفَاعَتَكُمْ

WA RAZAQANEE SHAFAA-A’TAKUM

endue me with your intercession,

وَجَعَلَنِىْ مِنْ خِيَارِ مَوَالِيْكُمُ

WA JA-A’LANEE MIN KHEYAARE MAWAALEEKOMUT

make me of the best of your loyalists

التَّابِعِيْنَ لِمَا دَعَوْتُمْ اِلَيْهِ

TAABE-E’ENA LEMAA DA-A’WTUM ELAYHE

who carry out all that to which you have called,

وَجَعَلَنِىْ مِمَّنْ يَقْتَصُّ اٰثَارَكُمْ

WA JA-A’LANEE MIMMAN YAQTASSO AASAARAKUM

and make me of those who are tracking your footsteps,

وَيَسْلُكُ سَبِيْلَكُمْ

WA YASLOKO SABEELAKUM

taking your path,

وَيَهْتَدِىْ بِهُدٰيكُمْ

WA YAHTADI BE HODAAKUM

following your guidance,

وَيَحْشُرُ فِىْ زُمْرَتِكُمْ

WA YOHSHARO FEE ZUMRATEKUM

(and those who are) resurrected in your group,

وَيَكِرُّ فِىْ رَجْعَتِكُمْ

WA YAKIRRO FEE RAJ-A’TEKUM

given the chance to appear again in your Return,

وَيُمَلَّكُ فِىْ دَوْلَتِكُمْ

WA YOMALLAKO FEE DAWLATEKUM

given authority in your administration,

وَيُشَرَّفُ فِىْ عَافِيَتِكُمْ

WA YOSHARRAFO FEE A’AFEYATEKUM

honored to live under your sound supervision,

وَيُمَكَّنُ فِىْ اَيَّامِكُمْ

WA YOMAKKANO FEE AYYAAMEKUM

given power in your days,

وَتَقِرُّ عَيْنُهٗ غَدًا بِرُؤْيَتِكُمْ

WA TAQIRRO A’YNOHU GADAN BERO-YATEKUM

and having their eyes delighted by seeing you in the morrow.

بِاَبِىْ اَنْتُمْ وَاُمِّىْ

BE ABEE ANTUM WA UMMEE

May my father, mother,

وَنَفْسِىْ وَاَهْلِىْ وَمَالِىْ

WA NAFSEE WA AHLEE WA MAALEE

soul, family, and possessions be ransoms for you.

مَنْ اَرَادَ اللهَ بَدَءَ بِكُمْ

MAN ARAADALLAAHA BADA-A BEKUM

Whoever desires for Allah should begin with you,

وَمَنْ وَحَّدَهُ قَبِلَ عَنْكُمْ

WA MAN WAHHADAHU QABELA A’NKUM

whoever professes His Oneness should accept your instructions,

وَمَنْ قَصَدَهُ تَوَجَّهَ بِكُمْ

WA MAN QASADAHU TAWWAJJAHA BEKUM

and whoever heads for Him should make you the means to Him.

مَوَالِىَّ لاَ اُحْصِىْ ثَنَآئَكُمْ

MAWAALIYYA LAA OHSEE SANAAA-AKUM

O my masters, I cannot count your merits

وَلاَ اَبْلُغُ مِنَ الْمَدْحِ كُنْهَكُمْ

WA LAA ABLOGO MENAL MAD-HE KUNHAKUM

and I cannot attain the utmost of praise of you

وَمِنَ الْوَصْفِ قَدْرَكُمْ

WA MENAL WASFE QADRAKUM

and the utmost of the description of your actual value,

وَاَنْتُمْ نُوْرُ الْاَخْيَارِ

WA ANTUM NOORUL AKHYAARE

since you are the light of the upright ones,

وَهُدَاةُ الْاَبْرَارِ

WA HODAATUL ABRAARE

the guides of the pious ones,

وَحُجَجُ الْجَبَّارِ

WA HOJAJUL JABBAARE

and the arguments of the Supreme Lord.

بِكُمْ فَتَحَ اللهُ

BEKUM FATAHALLAAHO

With you has Allah begun creation

وَبِكُمْ يَخْتِمُ اللهُ

WA BEKUM YAKHTEMULLAAHU

and with you will He seal it.

وَبِكُمْ يُنَزِّلُ الْغَيْثَ

WA BEKUM YUNAZZELUL GAYSA

For your sake does He pour down rain,

وَبِكُمْ يُمْسِكُ السَّمَآءَ اَنْ تَقَعَ عَلَى الْاَرْضِ اِلاَّ بِاِذْنِهٖ

WA BEKUM YUMSEKUS SAMAAA-A AN TAQA-A’ A’LAL ARZE ILLAA BE IZNEHI

for your sake does He withhold the heavens from falling on the earth except by His permission,

وَبِكُمْ يُنَفِّسُ الْهَمَّ

WA BEKUM YONAFFESUL HAMMA

and out of consideration for you does He dismiss agonies

وَيَكْشِفُ الضُّرَّ

WA YAKSHEFUZ ZURRA

and relieves harms.

وَعِنْدَكُمْ مَا نَزَلَتْ بِهٖ رُسُلُهٗ

WA I’NDAKUM MAA NAZALAT BEHI ROSOLOHU

In your possession is all that which His Messengers brought down

وَهَبَطَتْ بِهٖ مَلَآئِكَتُهٗ

WA HABATAT BEHI MALAAA-EKATOHU

and with which His angels descended.

وَاِلٰى جَدِّكُمْ بُعِثَ الرُّوْحُ الْاَمِيْنُ

WA ELAA JADDEKUM BO-E’SAR ROOHUL AMEENO

To your forefather was the Honest Spirit sent.

اٰتَاكُمُ اللهُ مَا لَمْ يُؤْتَ اَحَدًا مِّنَ الْعَالَمِيْنَ

AATAAKOMUL LAAHO MAA LAM YO’TI AHADAN MENAL A’ALAMEENA

Allah has given you that which He has not given to any one all over the worlds.

طَاْطَاَ كُلُّ شَرِيْفٍ لِشَرَفِكُمْ

TAATA-A KULLO SHAREEFIN LE SHARAFEKUM

All highborn ones nod down their heads before your noble lineage,

وَبَخَعَ كُلُّ مُتَكَبِّرٍ لِطَاعَتِكُمْ

WA BAKHA-A’ KULLO MUTAKABERRIN LETAA-A’TEKUM

all arrogant ones submit to the obedience to you,

وَخَضَعَ كُلُّ جَبَّارٍ لِفَضْلِكُمْ

WA KHAZA-A’ KULLO J’ABBAARIN LEFAZLEKUM

all insolent oppressors succumb to your excellence,

وَذَلَّ كُلُّ شَىْءٍ لَكُمْ

WA ZALLA KULLO SHAY-IN LAKUM

all things are humiliated before you,

وَاَشْرَقَتِ الْاَرْضُ بِنُوْرِكُمْ

WA ASHRAQATIL ARZO BE NOOREKUM

the earth has been lit up with your light,

وَفَازَ الْفَائِزُوْنَ بِوِلاَيَتِكُمْ

WA FAAZAL FAA-EZOONA BE WELAAYATEKUM

and the winners have attained triumph due to their loyalty to you.

بِكُمْ يُسْلَكُ اِلَى الرِّضْوَانِ

BEKUM YUSLAKO ELAR RIZWAANE

Through you can the way to Paradise be taken

وَعَلٰى مَنْ جَحَدَ وِلاَيَتِكُمْ غَضَبُ الرَّحْمٰنِ

WA A’LAA MAN JAHADA WELAAYATEKUM GHAZABUR RAHMAANE

and the ire of the All-beneficent is poured on whoever has denied your (divinely commissioned) leadership.

بِاَبِىْ اَنْتُمْ وَاُمِّىْ

BE ABEE ANTUM WA UMMEE

May my father, mother,

وَوَنَفْسِىْ وَاَهْلِىْ وَمَالِىْ

WA NAFSEE WA AHLEE WA MAALEE

soul, family, and possessions be ransoms for you.

ذِكْرُكُمْ فِى الذَّاكِرِيْنَ

ZIKRO KUM FIZ ZAAKEREENA

your mention is within the mention of others.

وَاَسْمَآؤُكُمْ فِى الْاَسْمَآءِ

WA ASMAAA-OKUM FIL ASMAAA-E

Your names are called along with other names.

وَاَجْسَادُكُمْ فِى الْاَجْسَادِ

WA AJSAADOKUM FIL AJSAADE

Your figures appear among other figures.

وَاَرْوَاحُكُمْ فِى الْاَرْوَاحِ

WA ARWAAHOKUM FIL ARWAAHE

Your souls are among other souls.

وَاَنْفُسُكُمْ فِى النُّفُوْسِ

WA ANFOSOKUM FIN NOFOOSE

Your selves are among other selves.

وَاٰثَارُكُمْ فِى الْاٰثَارِ

WA AASAAROKUM FIL AASAAR AATHAARE

Your traditions are among other traditions.

وَقُبُوْرُكُمْ فِى الْقُبُوْرِ

WA QOBOOROKUM FIL QOBOORE

Your graves are among other graves.

فَمَا اَحْلٰى اَسْمَآئَكُمْ

FAMAA AHLAA ASMAAA-AKUM

But how gracious your names are!

وَاَكْرَمَ اَنْفُسَكُمْ

WA AKRAMA ANFOSAKUM

How noble your souls are!

وَاَعْظَمَ شَاْنَكُمْ

WA AA’-ZAMA SHAANAKUM

How superior your affairs are!

وَاَجَلَّ خَطَرَكُمْ

WA AJALLA KHATARAKUM

How majestic your stations are!

وَاَوْفٰى عَهْدَكُمْ

WA AWFAA A’HDAKUM WA

How dependable your covenants are!

وَاَصْدَقَ وَعْدَكُمْ

WA ASDAQA WA’-DAKUM

How truthful your promises are!

كَلاَمُكُمْ نُوْرٌ

KALAAMOKUM NOORUN

Your words are illumination.

وَاَمْرُكُمْ رُشْدٌ

WA AMROKUM RUSHDUN

Your affairs are (leading to) orthodoxy.

وَوَصِيَّتُكُمُ التَّقْوٰى

WA WASIYYATOKOMUT TAQWAA

Your precepts are piety.

وَفِعْلُكُمُ الْخَيْرُ

WA FEA’-LOKOMUL KHAYRO

Your deeds are all good.

وَعَادَتُكُمُ الْاِحْسَانُ

WA A’ADATOKOMUL EHSAAN

Your habits are charity.

وَسَجِيَّتُكُمُ الْكَرَمُ

WA SAJIYYATOKOMUL KARAMO

Your nature is generosity.

وَشَاْنُكُمُ الْحَقُّ

WA SHAANOKOMUL HAQQO

Your issue is truth,

وَالصِّدْقُ وَالرِّفْقُ

WAS SIDQO WAR RIFQO

honesty, and lenience.

وَقَوْلُكُمْ حُكْمٌ وَحَتْمٌ

WA QAWLOKUM HUKMUN WA HATMUN

Your words are judgments and decisiveness.

وَرَاْيُكُمْ عِلْمٌ وَحِلْمٌ وَحَزْمٌ

WA RAAYOKUM I’LMUN WA HILMUN WA HAZMUN

Your views are (based upon) knowledge, temperance, and forethought.

اِنْ ذُكِرَ الْخَيْرُ كُنْتُمْ اَوَّلَهٗ

IN ZOKERAL KHAYRO KUNTUM AWWALAHU

Whenever goodness is mentioned, you are its initiation,

وَاَصْلَهٗ وَفَرْعَهٗ

WA ASLAHU WA FAR-A’HU

origin, branch,

وَمَعْدِنَهٗ وَمَاْوَاهُ وَمُنْتَهَاهُ

WA MA’-DENAHU WA MAAWAAHO WA MUNTAHAAHO

essence, center, and ultimate.

بِاَبِىْ اَنْتُمْ وَاُمِّىْ وَنَفْسِىْ

BI-ABEE ANTUM WA UMMEE WA NAFSEE

May my father, mother, and soul be ransoms for you.

كَيْفَ اَصِفُ حُسْنَ ثَنَآئِكُمْ

KAYFA ASEFU HUSNA SANAAA-EKUM

How shall I describe the excellence of your merits

وَاُحْصِىْ جَمِيْلَ بَلَآئِكُمْ

WA UHSEE JAMEELA BALAAA-EKUM

and define the beauty of your conferrals?

وَبِكُمْ اَخْرَجَنَا اللهُ مِنَ الذُّلِّ

WA BEKUM AKHRAJANALLAAHO MENAZ ZULLE

It is on account of you that Allah has pulled us out of degradation,

وَفَرَّجَ عَنَّا غَمَرَاتِ الْكُرُوْبِ

WA FARRIJ A’NNAA GAMARAATIL KOROOBE

removed from us the clutches of hardships,

وَاَنْقَذَنَا مِنْ شَفَا جُرُفِ الْهَلَكَاتِ

WA ANQAZANAA MIN SHAFAA JOROFIL HALAKAATE

and saved us from the brink of the pit of perditions

وَمِنَ النَّارِ

WA MENAN NAARE

and from the Fire.

بِاَبِىْ اَنْتُمْ وَاُمِّىْ وَنَفْسِىْ

BE ABEE ANTUM WA UMMEE WA NAFSEE

May my father, mother, and soul be ransoms for you.

بِمُوَالاَتِكُمْ عَلَّمَنَا اللهُ مَعَالِمَ دِيْنِنَا

BE MOWAALAATEKUM A’LLAMANALLAAHO MA-A’ALEMA DEENENAA

Through our loyalty to your leadership, Allah has taught us the features of our religion

وَاَصْلَحَ مَا كَانَ فَسَدَ مِنْ دُنْيَانَا

WA ASLAHA MAA KAANA FASADA MIN DUNYAANAA

and has set aright the spoiled items of our worldly lives.

وَبِمُوَالاَتِكُمَ تَمَّتِ الْكَلِمَةُ

WA BE MOWAALAATEKUM TAMMATIL KALEMATO

Through our loyalty to your leadership, the Word has been perfected,

وَعَظُمَتِ النِّعْمَةُ

WA A’ZOMATIN NEA’-MATO

the grace has become great,

وَائْتَلَفَتِ الْفُرْقَةُ

WAA-TALAFATIL FURQATO

and the discord has turned into alliance.

وَبِمُوَالاَتِكُمْ تُقْبَلُ الطَّاعَةُ الْمُفْتَرَضَةُ

WA BEMOWAALAATEKUM TUQBALUT TAA-A’TUL MUFTARAZATO

Through our loyalty to your leadership, the obligatory obedience (to Allah) is accepted.

وَلَكُمُ الْمَوَدَّةُ الْوَاجِبَةُ

WA LAKOMUL MAWADDATUL WAAJEBATO

To you alone are the obligatory affection,

وَالدَّرَجَاتُ الرَّفِيْعَةُ

WAD DARAJAATUR RAFEE-A’TO

the elevated ranks,

وَالْمَقَامُ الْمَحْمُوْدُ

WAL MAQAAMUL MAHMOODO

the praiseworthy standing,

وَالْمَكَانُ الْمَعْلَوْمُ عِنْدَ اللهِ عَزَوَجَلَّ

WAL MAKAANUL MA’-LOOMO I’NDALLAAHE A’ZZA WA JALLA

the renowned station with Allah the Almighty and All-majestic,

وَالْجَاهُ الْعَظِيْمُ

WAL JAAHUL A’ZEEMO

the topmost prestige,

وَالشَّاْنُ الْكَبِيْرُ

WASH SHAANUL KABEERO

the supreme station,

وَالشَّفَاعَةُ الْمَقْبُوْلَةُ

WASH SHAFAA-A’TUL MAQBOOLATO

and the admitted intercession.

رَبَّنَا اٰمَنَّا بِمَا اَنْزَلْتَ

RABBANAA AAMANNAA BEMAA ANZALTA

O our Lord, we believe in that which You have sent down

وَاتَّبَعْنَا الرَّسُوْلَ

WATTABAA’-NAR RASOOLA

and we follow the Messenger;

فَاكْتُبْنَا مَعَ الشَّاهِدِيْنَ

FAK-TUBNAA MA-A’SH SHAAHEDEEN

so, write our names among those who bear witness.

رَبَّنَا لاَ تُزِغْ قُلُوْبَنَا بَعْدَ اِذْ هَدَيْتَنَا

RABBANAA LAA TUZIGH QOLOOBANAA BA’-DA IZ HADAYTANAA

Our Lord, cause not our hearts to stray after You have guided us,

وَهَبْ لَنَا مِنْ لَّدُنْكَ رَحْمَةً

WA HAB LANAA MIN LADUNKA RAHMATAN

and bestow upon us mercy from Your Presence.

اِنَّكَ اَنْتَ الْوَهَّابُ

INNAKA ANTAL WAHHAABO

Lo! You, only You, are the Bestower.

سُبْحَانَ رَبِّنَا

SUBHAANA RABBENAA

Glory be to our Lord

اِنْ كَانَ وَعْدُ رَبِّنَا لَمَفْعُوْلاً

IN KAANA WA’-DO RABBENAA LAMAF-O’OLAN

for in fact the promise of our Lord immediately takes effect.

يَا وَلِىَّ اللهِ

YAA WALIYYALLAAHE

O vicegerent of Allah!

اِنَّ بَيْنِىْ وَبَيْنَ اللهِ عَزَّوَجَلَّ ذُنُوْبًا

INNA BAYNEE WA BAYNALLAAHE A’ZZA WA JALLA ZONOOBAN

There stand between me and Allah the Almighty and All-majestic, sins

لاَ يَاْتِىْ عَلَيْهَا اِلاَّ رِضَاكُمْ

LAA YAATEE A’LAYHAA ILLAA REZAAKUM

that cannot be demolished except by attaining your satisfaction.

فَبِحَقِّ مَنِ ائْتَمَنَكُمْ عَلٰى سِرِّهٖ

FABEHAQQE MANEA-TAMANAKUM A’LAA SIRREHI

Therefore, [I beseech you] in the name of the One Who has entrusted you with His secret,

وَاسْتَرْعَاكُمْ اَمْرَخَلْقِهٖ

WASTAR-A’AKUM AMRA KHALQEHI

assigned you to supervise the affairs of His creatures,

وَقَرَنَ طَاعَتَكُمْ بِطَاعَتِهٖ

WA QARANA TAA-A’TAKUM BE TAA-A’TEHI

and attached the obedience to Him with the obedience to you,

لَمَّا اسْتَوْهَبْتُمْ ذُنَوْبِىْ

LAMMAS TAWHABTUM ZONOOBEE

to (please) endue me with the favor of absolving my sins

وَكُنْتُمْ شُفَعَآئِىْ

WA KUNTUM SHOFA-A’A-EE

and to be my intercessors,

فَاِنِّىْ لَكُمْ مُطِيْعٌ

FA INNEE LAKUM MOTEE-U’N

for I am obedient to you.

مَنْ اَطَاعَكُمْ فَقَدْ اَطَاعَ اللهَ

MAN ATAA-A’KUM FAQAD ATAA-A’LLAAHA

He who obeys you has in fact obeyed Allah,

وَمَنْ عَصَاكُمْ فَقَدْ عَصَى اللهَ

WA MAN A’SAAKUM FAQAD A’SALLAAHA

he who disobeys you has in fact disobeyed Allah,

وَمَنْ اَحَبَّكُمْ فَقَدْ اَحَبَّ اللهَ

WA MAN AHABBAKUM FAQAD AHABBALLAAHA

he who loves you has in fact loved Allah,

وَمَنْ اَبْغَضَكُمْ فَقَدْ اَبْغَضَ اللهَ

WA MAN ABGHAZAKUM FAQAD ABGHAZAL LAAHA

and he who hates you has in fact hated Allah.

اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّىْ لَوْ وَجَدْتُ شُفَعَآءَ

ALLAAHUMMA INNEE LAW WAJADTO SHOFA-A’A-A

O Allah, had I known interceders

اَقْرَبَ اِلَيْكَ مِنْ مُّحَمَّدٍ وَّاَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ

AQRABA ELAYKA MIN MOHAMMADIN WA AHLE BAYTEHIL

that are closer to You than Mu¦ammad and his Household

الْاَخْيَارِ الْاَئِمَّةِ الْاَبْرَارِ

AKHYAARIL A-IMMATIL ABRAARE

the virtuous and pious Imams,

لَجَعَلْتُهُمْ شُفَعَآئِىْ

LAJA-A’LTOHUM SHOFA-A’A-EE

I would have chosen them as my intercessors.

فَبِحَقِّهِمُ الَّذِىْ اَوْجَبْتَ لَهُمْ عَلَيْكَ

FA BEHAQQEHIMUL LAZEE AWJABTA LAHUM A’LAYKA

So, [I beseech You] in the name of their Right that You have made obligatory upon You,

اَسْئَلُكَ اَنْ تُدْخِلَنِىْ فِىْ جُمْلَةِ الْعَارِفِيْنَ بِهِمْ وَبِحَقِّهِمْ

AS-ALOKA AN TUDKHELANEE FEE JUMLATIL A’AREFEENA BEHIM WA BEHAQQEHIM

(please) include me with the group of those who recognize their Right and them

وَفِىْ زُمْرَةِ الْمَرْحُوْمِيْنَ بِشَفَاعَتِهِمْ

WA FEE ZUMRATIL MARHOOMEENA BE SHAFAA-A’TEHIM

and with the assembly of those who are shown mercy owing to their (i.e. Muhammad and his Household) intercession.

اِنَّكَ اَرْحَمُ الرَّحِمِيْنَ

INNAKA ARHAMUR RAAHEMEENA

Verily, You are the most merciful of all those who show mercy.

وَصَلَّى اللهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّاٰلِهِ الطَّاهِرِيْنَ

WA SALLALLAAHO A’LAA MOHAMMADIN WA AALEHIT TAAHEREENA

May Allah send blessings upon Mu¦ammad and his immaculate Household

وَسَلَّمَ تَسْلِيْمًا كَثِيْرًا

WA SALLAMA TASLEEMAN KATHEERAN

and send His thorough peace upon them.

وَحَسْبُنَا اللهُ وَنِعْمَ الْوَكِيْلُ

WA HASBONALLAAHO WA NEA’-MAL WAKEELO.

Allah is Sufficient for us! Most Excellent is He in Whom we trust.
