Merits
This ziyarat is also mentioned in the acts to be performed in the sardaab (cellar) at Samarrah. Through the words of this ziyarat, the believer pleads with the Imam (a.s.) saying, O master! I request you that you intercede on my behalf before Allah that He improves my condition, accepts my supplications and forgives my sins and He holds me firm in the matters of this world and my religion. He seeks the mercy and forgiveness of Allah for himself, for his brothers, sisters and all believing men and women.
Text and Translation
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَی الْحَقِّ الْجَدِیْدِ وَالْعَالِمِ الَّذِیْ عِلْمُہٗ لَا یَبِیْدُ
ASSALAAMO A’LAL HAQQIL JADEEDE WAL-A’ALEMIL LAZEE I’LMOHU LAA YABEEDO
Peace be upon the fresh truth and the knowledgeable whose knowledge never expires.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰی مُحْیِی الْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ وَمُبِیْرِ الْكَافِرِیْنَ
ASSALAAMO A’LAA MOHYIL MO-MENEENA WA MOBERIL KAAFEREENA
Peace be upon the reviver of the believers and the terminator of the unbelievers.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰی مَهْدِیِّ الْاُمَمِ وَجَامِعِ الْكَلِمِ
ASSALAAMO A’LAL MAHDIYYIL OMAME WA JAAME-I’L KALEME
Peace be upon the restorer of all nations and the combiner of all creeds.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰی خَلَفِ السَّلَفِ وَ صَاحِبِ الشَّرَفِ
ASSALAAMO A’LAA KHA-LAFIS SALAFE WA SAAHEBISH SHA-RAFE
Peace be upon the successor of the ancestors and the owner of honor.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰی حُجَّۃِ الْمَعْبُوْدِ وَ كَلِمَۃِ الْمَحْمُوْدِ
ASSALAAMO A’LAA HUJJATIL MA’BOODE WA KALEMATIL MAHMOODE
Peace be upon the argument of the Worshipped (Lord) and the Word of the Praised (Lord).
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰی مُعِزِّ الْاَوْلِیَاءِ وَمُذِلِّ الْاَعْدَاءِ
ASSALAAMO A’LAA MO-I’ZZIL AWLEYAAA-E WA MOZILLIL A-A’DAAA-E
Peace be upon the consolidator of the intimate servants (of God) and the humiliator of the enemies.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰی وَارِثِ الْاَنْبِیَاءِ وَ خَاتَمِ الْاَوْصِیَاءِ
ASSALAAMO A’LAA WAARESIL AMBEYAAA-E WA KHAATEMIL AWSEYAAA-E
Peace be upon the inheritor of the Prophets and the seal of the (Prophets’) successors.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَی الْقائِمِ الْمُنْتَظَرِ وَ الْعَدْلِ الْمُشْتَهَرِ
ASSALAAMO A’LAL QAAA-EMIL MUNTAZARE WAL-A’DLIL MUSH-TAHARE
Peace be upon the Rising (Imam), the awaited, and the famed establisher of justice.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَی السَّیْفِ الشَّاهِرِ وَ الْقَمَرِ الزَّاهِرِ وَ النُّوْرِ الْبَاهِرِ
ASSALAAMO A’LAS SAYFISH SHAA-HERE WAL-QAMARIZ ZAAHERE WA NOORIL BAAHERE
Peace be upon the unsheathed sword, the brilliant moon, and the dazzling light.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰی شَمْسِ الظَّلَامِ وَ بَدْرِ التَّمَامِ
ASSALAAMO A’LAA SHAMSIZ ZALAAME WA BAD-RIT TAMAAME
Peace be upon the sun of darkness and the absolutely full moon.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰی رَبِیْعِ الْاَنَامِ وَ نَضْرَۃِ الْاَیَّامِ
ASSALAAMO A’LAA RABEE-I’L ANAAME WA NAZRATIL AYYAAME
Peace be upon the springtime of humanity and the bloom of days.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰی صَاحِبِ الصَّمْصَامِ وَ فَلَّاقِ الْہَامِ
ASSALAAMO A’LAA SAAHEBIS SAMSAAME WA FALLAAQIL HAA-ME
Peace be upon the holder of sharp sword and the splitter of heads.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰی صَاحِبِ الدِّیْنِ الْمَأْثُوْرِ وَ الْكِتَابِ الْمَسْطُوْرِ
ASSALAAMO A’LAD DEENIL MAASOORE WAL-KETAABIL MASTOORE
Peace be upon the long-established faith and the scripture inscribed.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰی بَقِیَّۃِ اللهِ فِیْ بِلَادِهٖ
ASSALAAMO A’LAA BAQIYYATIL LAAHE FEE BELAADEHI
Peace be upon the left by Allah in His lands
وَ حُجَّتِہٖ عَلٰی عِبَادِهِ الْمُنْتَہٰی اِلَیْہِ مَوَارِیْثُ الْاَنْبِیَآءِ
WA HUJJATEHI A’LAA E’BAADEHIL MUNTAHAA ELAYHE MAWAAREESUL AMBEYAAA-E
and the argument of Him against His servants to whom the inheritances of the Prophets end
وَ لَدَیْہِ مَوْجُوْدٌ آثَارُ الْاَصْفِیَاءِ
WA LADAYHE MAWJOODUN AASAARUL ASFEYAAA-IL
and with whom the traditions of the elite ones are kept.
الْمُؤْتَمَنِ عَلَی السِّرِّ وَ الْوَلِیِّ لِلْاَمْرِ
MOTAMANE A’LAS SIRRE WAL-WALIYYE LIL-AMRE
Peace be upon the one entrusted with the secret and the one who shall undertake the mission.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَی الْمَهْدِیِّ
ASSALAAMO A’LAL MAHDIYYIL
Peace be upon al-Mahdi (the rightly guided)
الَّذِیْ وَعَدَ اللهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ بِہِ الْاُمَمَ
LAZEE WA-A’DAL LAAHO A’ZZA WA JALLA BEHIL OMAMA
through whom Allah the Almighty and All-majestic promised the nations
اَنْ یَجْمَعَ بِہِ الْكَلِمَ وَیَلُمَّ بِہِ الشَّعَثَ
AYN YAJ-MA-A’ BIL KALEMA WA YALUMMA BEHISH SHA’-SA
to combine all decrees, to bring together all scattered matters,
وَ یَمْلَأَ بِہِ الْاَرْضَ قِسْطًا وَ عَدْلًا وَ یُمَکِّنَ لَہٗ
WA YAM-LA-O BEHIL ARZA QISTAWN WA A’DLANW WA YOMAKKENA LAHU
to fill the earth with fairness and justice, to make possible for him (to win over the all),
وَ یُنْجِزَ بِہٖ وَعْدَ الْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ
WA YUNJEZA BEHI WA’DAL MOMENEENA
and to fulfil His promise to the believers.
اَشْهَدُ یَا مَوْلَایَ اَنَّكَ
ASH-HADO YAA MAWLAAYA ANNAKA
I bear witness, O my master, that you
وَ الْاَئِمَّۃَ مِنْ آبَائِكَ
WAL-A-IMMATA MIN AABAAA-EKA
and the Imams, your fathers, peace be upon them all
اَئِمَّتِیْ وَ مَوَالِیَّ فِی الْحَیَاۃِ الدُّنْیَا
A-IMMATEE WA MAWAALIYYA FIL HAYAATID DUNYAA
are my leaders and masters in this worldly life
وَ یَوْمَ یَقُوْمُ الْاَشْہَادُ
WA YAWMA YAQOOMUL ASH-HAADO
and on the day when the Witnesses will rise (to witness).
اَسْاَلُكَ یَا مَوْلَایَ اَنْ تَسْاَلَ اللهَ تَبَارَكَ وَ تَعَالٰی
AS-ALOKA YAA MAWLAAYA AN TAS-A-LAL LAAHA TABAARAKA WA TA-A’ALAA
