Ya Uddati - Ramadan

Text and Translation

يَا عُدَّتِي فِي كُرْبَتِي

ya `uddati fi kurbati

O my means in troubles!

وَيَا صَاحِبِي فِي شِدَّتِي

wa ya sahibi fi shiddati

O my Companion in hardships!

وَيَا وَلِيِّي فِي نِعْمَتِي

wa ya waliyyi fi ni`mati

O the Provider of my amenities!

وَيَا غَايَتِي فِي رَغْبَتِي

wa ya ghayati fi raghbati

O the utmost of my desires!

أَنْتَ ٱلسَّاتِرُ عَوْرَتِي

anta alssatiru `awrati

It is You Who conceals my defects,

وَٱلْمُؤْمِنُ رَوْعَتِي

walmu'minu raw`ati

relieves my apprehensions,

وَٱلْمُقِيلُ عَثْرَتِي

walmuqilu `athrati

and overlooks my slips.

فَٱغْفِرْ لِي خَطِيئَتِي

faghfir li khati'ati

So, (please do) forgive my sin.

اَللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ خُشُوعَ ٱلإِيمَانِ

allahumma inni as'aluka khushu`a al'imani

O Allah, I pray You for the submission of faith

قَبْلَ خُشُوعِ ٱلذُلَّ فِي ٱلنَّارِ

qabla khushu`i aldhulli fi alnnari

before I encounter the submission of humiliation in Hellfire.

يَا وَاحِدُ يَا أَحَدُ يَا صَمَدُ

ya wahidu ya ahadu ya samadu

O One!: O Absolute! O Besought of all!

يَا مَنْ لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ

ya man lam yalid wa lam yulad

O He Who neither begets nor is He begotten,

وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ كُفُواً أَحَدٌ

wa lam yakun lahu kufwan ahadun

and there is none like to Him

يَا مَنْ يُعْطِي مَنْ سَأَلَهُ

ya man yu`ti man sa'alahu

O He Who confers upon one who beseeches Him

تَحَنُّناً مِنْهُ وَرَحْمَةً

tahannunan minhu wa rahmatan

on account of His sympathy and mercy,

وَيَبْتَدِئُ بِٱلْخَيْرِ مَنْ لَمْ يَسْأَلْهُ

wa yabtadi'u bilkhayri man lam yas'alhu

and initially grants welfare to those who have not asked for it,

تَفَضُّلاً مِنْهُ وَكَرَماً

tafaddulan minhu wa karaman

on account of His liberality and generosity!

بِكَرَمِكَ ٱلدَّائِمِ

bikaramika aldda'imi

I beseech You in the name of Your endless generosity

صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

salli `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin

to bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad

وَهَبْ لِي رَحْمَةً وَاسِعَةً جَامِعَةً

wa hab li rahmatan wasi`atan jami`atan

and bestow upon me with mercy—vast and comprehensive—

أَبْلُغُ بِهَا خَيْرَ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱلآخِرَةِ

ablughu biha khayra alddunya wal-akhirati

by which I can win the welfare of this world as well as the Next World.

اَللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْتَغْفِرُكَ لِمَا تُبْتُ إِلَيْكَ مِنْهُ ثُمَّ عُدْتُ فِيهِ

allahumma inni astaghfiruka lima tubtu ilayka minhu thumm `udtu fihi

O Allah, I implore for Your forgiveness of the sins from which I had repented to You but I committed them again.

وَأَسْتَغْفِرُكَ لِكُلِّ خَيْرٍ أَرَدْتُ بِهِ وَجْهَكَ

wa astaghfiruka likulli khayrin aradtu bihi wajhaka

I implore for Your forgiveness of my righteous acts that although I intended them purely for Your sake,

فَخَالَطَنِي فِيهِ مَا لَيْسَ لَكَ

fakhalatani fihi ma laysa laka

some purposes that are not intended for You intruded upon them.

اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

allahumma salli `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin

O Allah, (please do) send blessings to Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad

وَٱعْفُ عَنْ ظُلْمِي وَجُرْمِي

wa`fu `an zulmi wa jurmi

and pardon my transgression and my offenses,

بِحِلْمِكَ وَجُودِكَ يَا كَرِيمُ

bihilmika wa judika ya karimu
