Text and Translation

To sum it up, the merit of the Eid al-Ghadeer Day is too great to be cited. On this day, the deeds of the Shi’ah are admitted and their grievances are relieved. On this day, Prophet Moosa (a.s.) overcame the sorcerers, the fire in which Prophet Ibrahim (a.s.) was thrown was made by Almighty Allah comfort and peace, Prophet Moosa (a.s.) appointed Yushaa ibn Nun as his successor, Prophet Sulaiman (a.s.) declared openly before his people that Asif ibn Barkhiya would be his successor, and the Holy Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.a.) united as brothers his companions; therefore, the believers are advised to form brotherhood with each other on this day. This fraternization, as is quoted by Shaykh al-Noori in Mustadrak al-Wasaael from the book of Zaad al-Firdaws, can be practiced by putting the right hand on the brother-in-faith’s right had and saying the following:

وَاخَيْتُكَ فِيْ اللّٰهِ وَ صَافَيْتُكَ فِيْ اللّٰهِ

WAAKHAYTOKA FIL LAAHE WA SAAFAYTOKA FIL LAAHE

I take you as a brother for the sake of Allah, I choose you as a sincere friend for the sake of Allah,

WA SAAFAHTOKA FIL LAAHE WA A’AHADTUL LAAHA WA MALAAA-EKATAHU

and I clasp your hand for the sake of Allah. And I make a covenant with Allah, His angels,

WA KOTOBAHU WA ROSOLAHU WA ANBEYAAA-AHU WAL A-IMMATAL MA’-SOOMEENA A’LAYHEMUS SALAAMO

His Books, His Messengers, His Prophets, and the Infallible Imams, peace be upon them,

A’LAA ANNEE IN KUNTO MIN AHLIL JANNATE WASH SHAFAA-A’TE

that if I am among the people of Paradise and intercession,

WA OZENA LEE BE-AN ADKHOLAL JANNATA LAA ADKHOLOHAA ILLAA WA ANTA MA-E’E.

and am permitted to enter Paradise, I shall not enter it unless you are with me.

The other party should then agree by saying,

QABILTO

I accept.

Then, the first party says,

ASQATTO A’NKA JAMEEA’ HOQOOQIL OKHOOWATE

I release you from all the obligations and rights of brotherhood,

MAA KHALASH SHAFAA-A’TA WAD DOA’AA-A WAZ ZEYAARATA.

except for intercession (Shafa'ah), supplication (Du'a), and visitation (Ziyarah).

Similar to this form, al-Mohaddis al-Fayz, in his book of Khulaasat al-Azkaar, has mentioned a form of fraternization adding that the other party, or his representative, may accept the fraternization by uttering any statement entailing agreement. Then, each party releases the other from the duties of fraternity except supplication and visiting the tombs of the Infallibles.
