Text and Translation

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّیْ اَسْئَلُكَ بِاسْمِكَ الْعَظِیْمِ الْاَعْظَمِ

ALLAAHUMMA INNEE AS-ALOKA BISMEKAL A’ZEEMIL A-A’ZAMIL

O’ Allah! I beseech You through Your Name, the great, the most great,

الْاَعَزِّ الْاَجَلِّ الْاَكْرَمِ

A-A’ZZIL AJALLIL AKRAMIL

the most majestic, the most magnificent and the most noble.

الَّذِیْ اِذَا دُعِیْتَ بِهٖ عَلٰی مَغَالِقِ اَبْوَابِ السَّمَآءِ لِلْفَتْحِ بِالرَّحْمَۃِ انْفَتَحَتْ

LAZEE EZAA DO-EE’TA BEHI A’LAA MAGHAALEQE ABWAABIS SAMAAA-E LIL FATHE BIR-RAHMATIN FATAHAT

If You are requested therewith to open the closed doors of the sky these will open with Your mercy.

وَاِذَا دُعِیْتَ بِهٖ عَلٰی مَضَآئِقِ اَبْوَابِ الْاَرْضِ لِلْفَرَجِ انْفَرَجَتْ

WA EZAA DO-EE’TA BEHI A’LAA MAZAAA-EQE ABWAABIL ARZE LILFARAJIN FARAJAT,

If You are requested thereby to remove the narrowness of the doors of the earth, they will be opened wide.

وَاِذَا دُعِیْتَ بِهٖ عَلَی الْعُسْرِ لِلْیُسْرِ تَیَسَّرَتْ

WA EZAA DO-EE’TA BEHI A’LAL U’SRE LIL-YUSRE TAYASSARAT,

If You are requested thereby to make easy the difficulty, it will be made easy.

وَاِذَا دُعِیْتَ بِهٖ عَلَی الْاَمْوَاتِ لِلنُّشُوْرِ انْتَشَرَتْ

WA EZAA DO-EE’TA BEHI A’LAL AMWAATE LIN-NOSHOORIN TASHARAT,

If You are requested thereby to restore the dead to life, they will rise from their graves.

وَاِذَا دُعِیْتَ بِهٖ عَلٰی كَشْفِ الْبَاْسَآءِ وَالضَّرَّآءِ انْكَشَفَتْ

WA EZAA DO-EE’TA BEHI A’LAA KASHFIL BAA-SAAA-E WAZ-ZARRAAA-E INKASHAFAT,

If You are requested thereby to remove misery and adversity, it will be removed.

وَبِجَلَالِ وَجْهِكَ الْكَرِیْمِ

WA BE JALAALE WAJHEKAL KAREEME

I beseech You through the Majesty of Your person,

اَكْرَمِ الْوُجُوْهِ

AKRAMIL WOJOOHE

the Most Generous

وَاَعَزِّ الْوُجُوْهِ

WA A-A’ZZIL WOJOOHIL

and the Most Honoured One,

الَّذِیْ عَنَتْ لَهُ الْوُجُوْهُ

LAZE A’NAT LAHUL WOJOOHO

before Whom everybody bows down in submission

وَخَضَعَتْ لَهُ الرِّقَابُ

WA KHAZA-A’T LAHUR REQAABO

and all necks bend down in reverence

وَخَشَعَتْ لَهُ الْاَصْوَاتُ

WA KHASHA-A’T LAUL ASWAATO

and all voices become humbled

وَوَجِلَتْ لَهُ الْقُلُوْبُ مِنْ مَخَافَتِكَ

WA WAJELAT LAHUL QOLOOBO MIN MAKHAAFATEKA,

and all hearts tremble; through Your fear

وَبِقُوَّتِكَ الَّتِیْ بِهَا تُمْسِكُ السَّمَآءَ اَنْ تَقَعَ عَلَی الْاَرْضِ اِلَّا بِاِذْنِكَ

WA BE QUWWATEKAL LATEE BEHAA TUMSEKUS SAMAAA-A AN TAQA-A’ A’LAL ARZE ILLAA BE-IZNEKA,

and I beseech You through Your Might, which prevents the heaven from falling on the earth except with Your permission,

وَتُمْسِكُ السَّمٰوَاتِ وَالْاَرْضَ اَنْ تَزُوْلَا

WA TUMSEKUS SAMAAWAATE WAL ARZA AN TAZOOLAA,

and which controls all the heavens and the earth so closely that they cannot move away from their positions;

وَبِمَشِیَّتِكَ الَّتِیْ دَانَ لَهَا الْعَالَمُوْنَ

WA BEMASHIYYATEKAL LATEE DAANA (KAANA) LAHAL A’AALAMOONA,

and I beseech You through Your Will, which the whole world obeys,

وَبِكَلِمَتِكَ الَّتِیْ خَلَقْتَ بِهَا السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضَ

WA BEKALEMAATEKAL LATEE KALAQTA BEHAS SAMAAWAATE WAL-ARZA,

and through Your Word. By which You have created the heaven and the earth,

وَبِحِكْمَتِكَ الَّتِیْ صَنَعْتَ بِهَا الْعَجَآئِبَ

WA BEHIKMATEKAL LATEE SANA’TA BEHAL A’JAAA-EBA

and through Your Wisdom, with which You have created the wonders,

وَخَلَقْتَ بِهَا الظُّلْمَۃَ

WA KHALAQTA BEHAZ ZULMATA

and with which You created Darkness

وَجَعَلْتَهَا لَیْلًا

WA JA-A’LTAHAA LAILAN

and made it Night,

وَّجَعَلْتَ اللَّیْلَ سَكَنًا

WA JA-A’LTAL LAYLA SAKANAN

and made night the time of quiet and rest;

وَّخَلَقْتَ بِهَا النُّوْرَ

WA KHALAQTA BEHAN NOORA

and with which You created Light

وَجَعَلْتَهٗ نَهَارًا

WA JA-A’LTAHU NAHAARAN

and made it Day,

وَّجَعَلْتَ النَّهَارَ نُشُوْرًا مُبْصِرًا

WA JA-A’LTAN NAHAARA NOSHOORAN MUBSERAN,

and made day the time of movement and observation;

وَّخَلَقْتَ بِهَا الشَّمْسَ

WA KHALAQTA BEHASH SHAMSA

and with which You have created the Sun,

وَجَعَلْتَ الشَّمْسَ ضِیَآءً

WA JA-ALTASH SHAMSA ZEYAAA-AN,

and made the sun gleam

وَّخَلَقْتَ بِهَا الْقَمَرَ

WA KHALAQTA BEHAL QAMARA

And with which You have created the Moon,

وَجَعَلْتَ الْقَمَرَ نُوْرًا

WA JA-A’LTAL QAMARA NOORAN,

and made the moon light;

وَّخَلَقْتَ بِهَا الْكَوَاكِبَ

WA KHALAQTA BEHAL KAWAAKEBA

and with which You have created heavenly bodies,

وَجَعَلْتَهَا نُجُوْمًا وَّبُرُوْجًا

WA JA-A’LTAHAA NOJOOMAN WA BOROOJAN

and made them fixed stars and planets,

وَّمَصَابِیْحَ وَزِیْنَۃً وَّرُجُوْمًا

WA MASAABEEHA WA ZEENATAN WA ROJOOMAN,

and lamps for guidance at night, and as a means of decoration, and missiles for driving away devils,

وَّجَعَلْتَ لَهَا مَشَارِقَ وَمَغَارِبَ

WA JA-ALTA LAHAA MASHAAREQA WA MAGHAAREBA

and have created for them east and west,

وَجَعَلْتَ لَهَا مَطَالِعَ وَمَجَارِیَ

WA JA-A’LTA LAHAA MATAALE-A’ WA MAJAAREYA,

and have created for them the places of ascendancy and orbits,

وَجَعَلْتَ لَهَا فَلَكًا وَّمَسَابِحَ

WA JA-A’LTA LAHAA FALAKAN WA MASAABEHA

and created for them a firmament and sphere,

وَقَدَّرْتَهَا فِی السَّمَآءِ مَنَازِلَ

WA QADDARTAHAA FIS SAMAAA-E MANAAZELA

and fixed for them stages in the heaven

فَاَحْسَنْتَ تَقْدِیْرَهَا

FA-AHSANTA TAQDEERAHAA,

and how beautiful the stages

وَصَوَّرْتَهَا فَاَحْسَنْتَ تَصْوِیْرَهَا

WA SAWWARTAHAA FA-AHSANTA TASWEERAHAA

and shaped the stars and how beautiful the shapes

وَاَحْصَیْتَهَا بِاَسْمَآئِكَ اِحْصَآءً

WA AH-SAYTAHAA BE-ASMAAA-EKA EHSAAA-AN

and made them stable through Your Name;

وَّدَبَّرْتَهَا بِحِكْمَتِكَ تَدْبِیْرًا

WA DABBARTAHAA BE HIKMATEKA TADBEERAN

and from Your Wisdom You designed a system for them

فَاَحْسَنْتَ تَدْبِیْرَهَا

FA-AHSANTA TADBEERAHAA

and what a good system,

وَسَخَّرْتَهَا بِسُلْطَانِ اللَّیْلِ

WA SAKHKHARTAHAA BE-SULTAANIL LAYLE

and controlled the heavenly bodies through the king of the night

وَسُلْطَانِ النَّهَارِ

WA SULTAANIN NAHAARE

and the king of day,

وَالسَّاعَاتِ وَعَدَدِ السِّنِیْنَ وَالْحِسَابِ

WAS-SAA-A’ATE WA A’DADAS SENEENA WAL-HESAABE,

and through hours, making them a means for the reckoning of years and counting,

وَجَعَلْتَ رُؤْیَتَهَا لِجَمِیْعِ النَّاسِ مَرْئًی وَّاحِدًا

WA JA-A’LTA ROA-YATAHAA LE JAMEE-I’N NAASE MAR-AN WAAHEDAN

making appearance of heavenly bodies regular and universal.

وَّاَسْاَلُكَ اللّٰهُمَّ بِمَجْدِكَ الَّذِیْ كَلَّمْتَ بِهٖ عَبْدَكَ وَرَسُوْلَكَ

WA AS-ALOKAL LAAHUMMA BE MAJDEKAL LAZE KALLAMTA BEHI A’BDAKA WA RASOOLAKA

And I beseech You, O Allah, through Your Glory, with which You addressed Your slave and Your Messenger,

مُوْسَی ابْنَ عِمْرَانَ عَلَیْهِ السَّلَامُ

MOOSABNA I’MRAANA A’LAYHIS SALAAMO

Moosa son of Imran peace be on him,

فِی الْمُقَدَّسِیْنَ

FIL MOQADDASEENA

while he was in the company of angels

فَوْقَ اِحْسَاسِ الْكَرُوْبِیْنَ

FAWQA EHSAASIL KARROOBEENA

which address even the favourite cherubin could not ever hear,

فَوْقَ غَمَآئِمِ النُّوْرِ

FAWQA GHAMAAA-EMIN NOORE

above the clouds of light,

فَوْقَ تَابُوْتِ الشَّهَادَۃِ

FAWQA TAABOOTISH SHAHAADATE

above the box of evidence,

فِیْ عَمُوْدِ النَّارِ

FI A’MOODIN NAAARE

within the pillar of fire

وَفِیْ طُوْرِ سَیْنَآءَ

WA FEE TOORE SAYNAAA-A

on Mount Sinai,

وَفِیْ جَبَلِ حُوْرِیْثَ

WA FEE JABALE HOOREESA

and on Mount Hurees

فِی الْوَادِ الْمُقَدَّسِ

FIL WAADIL MOQADDASE

in the Holy Valley

فِی الْبُقْعَۃِ الْمُبَارَكَۃِ

FIL BUQ-A’TIL MOBAARAKATE

in the sacred tract of land

مِنْ جَانِبِ الطُّوْرِ الْاَیْمَنِ مِنَ الشَّجَرَۃِ

MIN JAANEBIT TOORIL AYMANE MENASH-SHAJARATE

to the right of Toor Mountain-through a tree;

وَفِیْ اَرْضِ مِصْرِ

WA FEE ARZE MISRA

and again addressed him on the soil of Egypt,

بِتِسْعِ اٰیَاتٍ بَیِّنَاتٍ

BE-TIS-E’ AAYAATIN BAYYENAATIN,

after showing nine clear signs

وَیَوْمَ فَرَقْتَ لِبَنِیْ اِسْرَآئِیْلَ الْبَحْرَ

WA YAWMA FARAQTA LE-BANI ISRAAA-EELAL BAHRA

and on the day You split the sea for the Children of Israel,

وَفِیْ الْمُنْبَجِسَاتِ الَّتِیْ صَنَعْتَ بِهَا الْعَجَائِبَ

WA FIL MUNBAJESAATIL LATEE SA-NA’TA BEHAL A’JAAA-EBA

and caused springs to flow from a stone, thereby displaying wonders of Your might

فِیْ بَحْرِ سُوْفٍ

FEE BAHRE SOOF,

in a deep sea;

وَعَقَدْتَ مَآءَ الْبَحْرِ فِیْ قَلْبِ الْغَمْرِ كَالْحِجَارَۃِ

WA A’QADAT MAAA-AL BAHRE FEE QALBIL GHAMRE KAL-HAJAARATE,

and on the day when You solidified the water of the sea in the midst of the storm,

وَجَاوَزْتَ بِبَنِیْ اِسْرَآئِیْلَ الْبَحْرَ

WA JAA-WAZTA BE BANI ISRAAEELAL BAHRA

and caused the Children of Israel to pass by it,

وَتَمَّتْ كَلِمَتُكَ الْحُسْنٰی عَلَیْهِمْ بِمَا صَبَرُوْا

WA TAMMAT KALEMATOKAL HUSNAA A’LAYHIM BEMAA SABAROO

and fulfilled Your excellent promises made to them because of their calmly endurance,

وَاَوْرَثْتَهُمْ مَشَارِقَ الْاَرْضِ وَمَغَارِبَهَا

WA AWRASTAHUM MASHAAREQAL ARZE WA MAGHAAREBAHAL

and made them the inheritors of the East and the West in the earth,

الَّتِیْ بَارَكْتَ فِیْهَا لِلْعَالَمِیْنَ

LATEE BAARAKTA FEEHAA LIL-A’ALAMEENA,

wherein there are blessings for all the worlds;

وَاَغْرَقْتَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَجُنُوْدَهٗ وَمَرَاكِبَهٗ فِی الْیَمِّ

WA AGHRAQTA FIRAWNA WA JONOODAHU WA MARAAKEBAHU FIL YAMME,

and You drowned Firawn and his armies and boats in the water.

وَبِاسْمِكَ الْعَظِیْمِ الْاَعْظَمِ

WA BISMEKAL A’ZEEMIL A-A’ZAMIL

And (I beseech You) through Your name, which is the most great,

الْاَعَزِّ الْاَجَلِّ الْاَكْرَمِ

A-A’ZZIL AJALLIL AKRAME

the most majestic, the most magnificent, the most noble;

وَبِمَجْدِكَ الَّذِیْ تَجَلَّیْتَ بِهٖ لِمُوْسٰی كَلِیْمِكَ عَلَیْهِ السَّلَامُ فِیْ طُوْرِ سَیْنَآءَ

WA BEMAJDEKAL LAZE TAJALLAYTA BEHI LE MOOSA KALEEMAKE A’LAYHIS SALAAMO FEE TORE SAYNAA-A,

and through Your glory, with which You revealed light to Moosa, Your addressee, peace be on him, on Mount Sinai;

وَلِاِبْرَاهِیْمَ عَلَیْهِ السَّلَامُ خَلِیْلِكَ مِنْ قَبْلُ فِیْ مَسْجِدِ الْخَیْفِ

WA LE-IBRAAHEEMA A’LAYHIS SALAAMO KHALEELEKA MIN QABLO FEE MASJEDIL KHEEFE,

and earlier radiated the light for Ibrahim, Your sincere friend peace be on him, in the mosque of al-Khayf;

وَلِاِسْحَاقَ صَفِیِّكَ عَلَیْهِ السَّلَامُ فِیْ بِئْرِ شِیَعٍ

WALE ISHAAQA SAFIYYEKA A’LAYHIS SALAAMO FEE BEA-RE SHEE-I’N

and for Ishaaq, Your chosen Prophet, peace be on him, in the well of sheya’,

وَلِیَعْقُوْبَ نَبِیِّكَ عَلَیْهِ السَّلَامُ فِیْ بَیْتِ اِیْلٍ

WA LE YAA’QOOBA NABIYYEKA A’LAYHIS SALAAMO FEE BAYTE EELIN,

and for Your Prophet Yaqoob, peace be on him, in Bayt Eel

وَاَوْفَیْتَ لِاِبْرَاهِیْمَ عَلَیْهِ السَّلَامُ بِمِیْثَاقِكَ

WA AWFAYTA LE-IBRAAHEEMA A’LAYHIS SALAAMO BE MEESHAAQEKA

and through Your Glory, with which You fulfilled Your promise to Ibrahim, peace be on him;

وَلِاِسْحَاقَ بِحَلَفِكَ

WA LE-ISHAAQA BE HALFEKA

and through Your Oath in favour of Ishaaq;

وَلِیَعْقُوْبَ بِشَهَادَتِكَ

WA LE YAA’QOOBA BE SHAHADATEKA

and through Your witnessing favouring Yaqoob;

وَلِلْمُؤُمِنِیْنَ بِوَعْدِكَ

WA LIL-MOA-MENEENA BE WA’DEKA

and through the fulfillments of Your promise to the faithful:

وَلِلدَّاعِیْنَ بِاَسْمَآئِكَ فَاَجَبْتَ

WA LIDDAA-EE’NA BE ASMAAEKA FA-AJABTA,

and through Your Names with which You accepted the prayers of supplications;

وَبِمَجْدِكَ الَّذِیْ ظَهَرَ لِمُوْسَی ابْنِ عِمْرَانَ عَلَیْهِ السَّلَامُ

WA BE MAJDEKAL LAZEE ZAHARA LE MOOSABNE I’MRAANA A’LAYHIS SALAAMO

and through Your Glory, which appeared to Moosa, son of Imran, peace be upon him

عَلٰی قُبَّۃِ الرُّمَّانِ

A’LAA QUBBATIR RUMMAANE

in Qubbat al-Rumman;

وَبِاٰیٰتِكَ الَّتِیْ وَقَعَتْ عَلٰی اَرْضِ مِصْرَ

WA BE-AAYAATEKAL LATEE WA QA-A’T A’LAA ARZE MISRA

and through Your Signs, which appeared on the soil of Egypt

بِمَجْدِ الْعِزَّۃِ وَالْغَلَبَۃِ

BE-MAJDIL I’ZZATE WAL-GHALABATE

with great might and victory,

بِاٰیٰتٍ عَزِیْزَۃٍ وَّبِسُلْطَانِ الْقُوَّۃِ

BE-AAYAATE A’ZEEZATE WA BE SULTAANIL QUWWATE

with powerful signs and with the display of full command

وَبِعِزَّۃِ الْقُدْرَۃِ

WA BE-I’ZZATIL QUDRATE

and great power;

وَبِشَاْنِ الْكَلِمَۃِ التَّآمَّۃِ

WA BE-SHAANIL KALEMATIT TAAMMATE,

and with the affair of the perfect word;

وَبِكَلِمَاتِكَ الَّتِیْ تَفَضَّلْتَ بِهَا عَلٰی اَهْلِ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِ

WA BE KALEMAATEKAL LATEE TAFAZZALTA BEHAA A’LAA AHLIS SAMAAWAATE WAL ARZE

and with Your words with which You do a favour for the people of the heavens and the earth

وَاَهْلِ الدُّنْیَا وَاَهْلِ الْاٰخِرَۃِ

WA AHLID DUNYAA WA AHLIL AAKHERATE,

and the people of this world and the hereafter;

وَبِرَحْمَتِكَ الَّتِیْ مَنَنْتَ بِهَا عَلٰی جَمِیْعِ خَلْقِكَ

WA BE RAHMATEKAL LATEE MANANTA BEHAA A’LAA JAMEE-E’ KHALQEKA,

and through Your Mercy with which You bestow upon all Your creatures:

وَبِاسْتِطَاعَتِكَ الَّتِیْ اَقَمْتَ بِهَا عَلَی الْعَالَمِیْنَ

WA BIS-TETAA-A’TEKAL LATEE AQAMTA BEHAA A’LAL A’ALAMEENA,

and through Your Power with which You dominate the worlds;

وَبِنُوْرِكَ الَّذِیْ قَدْ خَرَّ مِنْ فَزَعِهٖ طُوْرُ سَیْنَآءَ

WA BE NOOREKAL LAZEE QAD KHARRA MIN FAZA-E’HI TOORO SAYNAAA-A,

and (I beseech You) through Your Light, through fear of which Mount Sinai collapsed,

وَبِعِلْمِكَ وَجَلَالِكَ وَكِبْرِیَآئِكَ وَعِزَّتِكَ وَجَبَرُوْتِكَ

WA BE-I’LMEKA WA JALAALEKA WA KIBREYAAA-EKA WA I’ZZATEKA WA JABAROOTEKAL

through Your Knowledge, and Your Greatness and Majesty, and Your Unique Magnificence and Your Honour and (through) Your might,

الَّتِیْ لَمْ تَسْتَقِلَّهَا الْاَرْضُ

LATEE LAM TASTAQILLAHAL ARZO

which the earth could not bear,

وَانْخَفَضَتْ لَهَا السَّمٰوٰتُ

WAN-KHAFAZAT LAHAS SAMAAWAATO

and, for which the heavens bent down,

وَانْزَجَرَ لَهَا الْعُمْقُ الْاَكْبَرُ

WAN-ZAJARA LAHAL U’MQUL AKBARO,

and the great depths restrained themselves,

وَرَكَدَتْ لَهَا الْبِحَارُ وَاْلَانْهَارُ

WA RAKADAT LAHAL BEHAARO WAL ANHAARO,

and the seas and rivers became stable,

وَخَضَعَتْ لَهَا الْجِبَالُ

WA KHAZA-A’T LAHAL JEBAALO

and to which the mountains made submission,

وَسَكَنَتْ لَهَا الْاَرْضُ بِمَنَاكِبِهَا

WA SAKANAT LAHAL ARZO BE MANAAKEBEHAA,

and due to which the earth became firm on its shoulders,

وَاسْتَسْلَمَتْ لَهَا الْخَلَآئِقُ كُلُّهَا

WAS-TASLAMAT LAHAL KHALAA-EQO KULLOHAA,

and to which all creatures submitted,

وَخَفَقَتْ لَهَا الرِّیَاحُ فِیْ جَرَیَانِهَا

WA KHAFAQAT LAHAR REYAAHO FI JARAYAANEHAA,

and due to which the winds breathed,

وَخَمَدَتْ لَهَا النِّیْرَانُ فِیْ اَوْطَانِهَا

WA KHAMADAT LAHAN NEERAANO FEE AWTAANEHAA,

and the flaming fires were extinguished in their places.

وَبِسُلْطَانِكَ الَّذِیْ عُرِفَتْ لَكَ بِهِ الْغَلَبَۃُ دَهْرَ الدُّهُوْرِ

WA BE SULTAANEKAL LAZE O’REFAT LAKA BEHIL GHALABATO DAHRAD DOHOORE

And I beseech You through Your might, through which You have been known to be All-powerful for ever and ever,

وَحُمِدْتَ بِهٖ فِی السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِیْنَ

WA HOMID-TA BEHI FIS SAMAAWAATE WAL ARAZEENA,

and for which You have been praised in the heavens and the earth;

وَبِكَلِمَتِكَ كَلِمَۃِ الصِّدْقِ الَّتِیْ سَبَقَتْ لِاَبِیْنَا آدَمَ عَلَیْهِ السَّلَامُ وَذُرِّیَّتِهٖ بِالرَّحْمَۃِ

WA BEKALEMATEKA KALEMATIS SIDQIL LATEE SABAQAT LE-ABEENAA AADAMA A’LAYHIS SALAAMO WA ZURRIYYATEHI BIR-RAHMATE

and I beseech You through Your word, the Word of Truth, which became a blessing for our father Adam and his generation;

وَاَسْئَلُكَ بِكَلِمَتِكَ الَّتِیْ غَلَبَتْ كُلَّ شَیْءٍ

WA AS-ALOKA BE KALEMATEKAL LATEE GHALABAT KULLA SHAY-IN,

and I beseech You through Your word, by which You overcame everything;

وَّبِنُوْرِ وَجْهِكَ الَّذِیْ تَجَلَّیْتَ بِهٖ لِلْجَبَلِ

WA BE NOORE WAJHEKAL LAZEE TAJALLAYTA BEHI LIL JABALE

and I beseech You through the light of Your Face, which when it flased on Mount Sinai

فَجَعَلْتَهٗ دَكًّا

FA-JA-A’LTAHU DAKKAA

crushed it to pieces,

وَّخَرَّ مُوْسٰی صَعِقًا

WA KHARRA MOOSAA SA-E’QAA,

whereby Moosa fainted and fell down,

وَبِمَجْدِكَ الَّذِیْ ظَهَرَ عَلٰی طُوْرِ سَیْنَآءَ

WA BE MAJDEKAL LAZEE ZAHARA A’LAA TORE SAYNAAA-A

and through Your Glory, which appeared on Mount Sinai,

فَكَلَّمْتَ بِهٖ عَبْدَكَ وَرَسُوْلَكَ مُوْسَی ابْنَ عِمْرَانَ

FA-KALLAMTA BEHI A’BDAKA WA RASOOLAKA MOOSABNE I’MRAANA,

and through which You addressed Your slave and Your Mesenger; Moosa, son of Imran,

وَبِطَلْعَتِكَ فِیْ سَاعِیْرَ

WA BE TAL-A’TEKA FEE SAA-E’ERA

and through Your appearance in Sa'ir

وَظُهُوْرِكَ فِیْ جَبَلِ فَارَانَ

WA ZOHOOREKA FEE JABALE FAARAANA

and on Mount Faran

بِرَبَوَاتِ الْمُقَدَّسِیْنَ

BE-RABAWAATIL MOQADDASEENA

near Rabawat, which are clean and holy places,

وَجُنُوْدِ الْمَلآئِكَۃِ الصَّافِّیْنَ

WA JONOODIL MALAAA-EKATIS SAAF-FEENA

when troops of heavenly angels were in rows,

وَخُشُوْعِ الْمَلآئِكَۃِ الْمُسَبِّحِیْنَ

WA KHOSHOO-E’L MALAAA-EKATIL MOSABBEHEENA,

and with the submissiveness of the angels praising You,

بِبَرَكَاتِكَ الَّتِیْ بَارَكْتَ فِیْهَا عَلٰی اِبْرَاهِیْمَ خَلِیْلِكَ عَلَیْهِ السَّلَامُ

WA BE-BARAKAATEKAL LATEE BAARAKTA FEEHAA A’LAA IBRAAHEEMA KHALEELEKA A’LAYHIS SALAAMO

and with Your blessings with which You honoured Abraham, Your sincere friend, peace be upon him,

فِیْ اُمَّۃِ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّی اللهُ عَلَیْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ

FEE UMMATE MOHAMMADIN SALLAL LAAHO A'LAYHE WA AALEHI

among the followers of Muhammad, Your blessings be upon him and his Progeny

وَبَارَكْتَ لِاِسْحَاقَ صَفِیِّكَ

WA BAARAKTA LE-ISHAAQA SAFIYYEKA

and You honoured Ishaaq, Your chosen prophet,

فِیْ اُمَّۃِ عِیْسٰی عَلَیْهِمَا السَّلَامُ

FEE UMMATE E’ESAA A’LAYHEMAS SALAAMO,

among the followers of Eesaa, peace be on them both,

وَبَارَكْتَ لِیَعْقُوْبَ اِسْرٰئِیْلِكَ

WA BAARAKTA LE YA’QOOBA ISRAAA-EELEKA

and honoured Yaqoob, Your favoured slave,

فِیْ اُمَّۃِ مُوْسَی عَلَیْهِمَا السَّلَامُ

FEE UMMATE MOOSAA A’LAYHEMAS SALAAMO,

among the followers of Moses, peace be on them both,

وَبَارَكْتَ لِحَبِیْبِكَ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَیْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ

WA BAARAKTA LE HABIBEKA MOHAMMADIN SALLALLAAHO A’LAYHE WA AALEHI

and honoured Your intimate friend Muhammad, may the blessings of Allah be upon him and his Progeny,

فِیْ عِتْرَتِهٖ وَذُرِّیَّتِهٖ وَاُمَّتِهٖ

FEE I’TRATEHI WA ZURRIYYATEHI WA UMMATEHI,

among his offspring and progeny, and his followers

اَللّٰهُمَّ وَكَمَا غِبْنَا عَنْ ذٰلِكَ وَلَمْ نَشْهَدْهُ

ALLAAHUMMA WA KAMAA GHIBNAA A’N ZAALEKA WA LAM NASH-HAD-HO

O Allah! Just as were absent and didn’t witness these manifestations of Your glory,

وَاٰمَنَّا بِهٖ وَلَمْ نَرَهٗ صِدْقًا وَّعَدْلًا

WA AAMANNAA BEHI WA LAM NARAHU SIDQAN WA A’DLAA

yet we believed in their truth and justice, without having been eyewitnesses,

اَنْ تُصَلِّیَ عَلٰی مُحَمَّدٍ وَّاٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

AN TOSALLEYA A’LAA MOHAMMADIN WA AALE MOHAMMADIN

So we beseech You to send Your blessings upon Muhammad and the Progeny of Muhammad,

وَّاَنْ تُبَارِكَ عَلٰی مُحَمَّدٍ وَّاٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

WA A’N TOBAAREKA A’LAA MOHAMMADIN WA AALE MOHAMMADIN

and honour Muhammad and the Progeny of Muhamamad,

وَّتَرَحَّمَ عَلٰی مُحَمَّدٍ وَّاٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

WA TARAHHAMA A’LAA MOHAMMADIN WA AALE MOHAMMADIN

and have mercy on Muhammad and the Progeny of Muhammad,

كَاَفْضَلِ مَا صَلَّیْتَ وَبَارَكْتَ وَتَرَحَّمْتَ

KA-AFZALE MAA SALLAYTA WA BAARAKTA WA TARAHHAMTA

with the blessings, honour, and mercy

عَلٰی اِبْرَاحِیْمَ وَاٰلِ اِبْرَاهِیْمَ

A’LAA IBRAAHEEMA WA AALE IBRAAHEEMA

you sent and bestowed on Abraham and the progeny of Abraham.

اِنَّكَ حَمِیْدٌ مُّجِیْدٌ

INNAKA HAMEEDUM MAJEEDUN

Surely You are Praiseworthy, Glorious,

فَعَّالٌ لِّمَا تُرِیْدُ

FA-A’ALUL LEMAA TOREEDO

the Doer of what You will.

وَاَنْتَ عَلٰی كُلِّ شَیْءٍ قَدِیْرٌ.

WA ANTA A’LAA KULLE SHAY-IN QADEERUN.

You are Powerful over all things

Now one should express his legitimate desire and beseech Allah to fulfill it, then recite the following:

یَا حَنَّانُ یَا مَنَّانُ

YAA HANNAANO YAA MANNAANO

O Compassionate, O Kind

یَا بَدِیْعَ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِ

YAA BADEE-A’S SAMAAWAATE WAL ARZE

O Original Designer of Heavens and Earth

یَا ذَا الْجَلَالِ وَالْاِكْرَامِ یَا اَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِیْنَ

YAA ZAL-JALAALE WAL IKRAAME YAA ARHAMAR RAAHEMEENA

O Lord of Glory and Honour O most Merciful of all the merciful.

اَللّٰهُمَّ بِحَقِّ هٰذَا الدُّعَآءِ

ALLAAHUMMA BEHAQQE HAAZAD DO-A’AA-E

O Allah, for the sake of this prayer,

وَبِحَقِّ هٰذِهِ الْاَسْمَآءِ

WA BE HAQQE HAAZEHIL ASMAAA-IL

and for the sake of these Names

الَّتِیْ لَا یَعْلَمُ تَفْسِیْرَهَا وَلَا یَعْلَمُ بَاطِنَهَا غَیْرُكَ

LATEE LAA YA’LAMO TAFSEERAHAA WA LAA TAAWEELOHAA WA LAA BAATENAHAA WA LAA ZAAHERAHAA GHAIROKA

which no one can interpret, the inner meaning of which no one other than Yourself knows.

صَلِّ عَلٰی مُحَمَّدٍ وَّاٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

SALLE A’LAA MOHAMMADIN WA AALE MOHAMMADIN

Send Your blessing upon Muhammad and the Progeny of Muhammad;

وَّافْعَلْ بِیْ مَا اَنْتَ اَهْلُهٗ وَلَا تَفْعَلْ بِیْ مَا اَنَا اَهْلُهٗ

WAF-A’L BEE MAA ANTA AHLOHU WA LAA TAF-A’L BEE MAA ANAA AHLOHU

and do to me what suits You and do not do to me what I deserve

وَاغْفِرْ لِیْ مِنْ ذُنُوْبِیْ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْهَا وَمَا تَاَخَّرَ

WAGHFIRLEE MIN ZONOOBI MAA TAQADDAMA MINHAA WA MAA TA-AKH-KHARA

and forgive my sins past and future,

وَوَسِّعْ عَلَیَّ مِنْ حَلَالِ رِزْقِكَ

WA WASSE’ A’LAYYAA MIN HALAALE RIZQEKA

and increase Your lawful sustenance for me,

وَاكْفِنِیْ مَؤُنَۃَ اِنْسَانِ سَوْءٍ وَّجَارِ سَوْءٍ

WAK-FENEE MAOONATA INSAANE SAW-IN WA JAARE SAW-INW

and save me from the help of wicked men, wicked neighbours,

وَّقَرِیْنِ سَوْءٍ وَّسُلْطَانِ سَوْءٍ

WA QAREENE SAW-INW WA SULTAANE SAW-INW

wicked companions, and wicked rulers

اِنَّكَ عَلٰی مَا تَشَآءُ قَدِیْرٌ

INNAKA A'LAA MAA TASHAA-O QADEERUN.

Verily You are able to do whatever You will,

وَبِكُلِّ شَیْءٍ عَلِیْمٌ

WA BE-KULLE SHAY-IN A'LEEM.

and You know everything.

اٰمِیْنَ رَبَّ الْعَالَمِیْنَ.

AAMEEN RABBAL A'ALAMEEN.

Aameen, O Lord of the worlds.

Al-Majlisi (r.a.) narrated from Sayed Ibn Baqi’s ‘Al-Misbah’ that one should say after reciting Dua al-Simaat:

اَللّٰهُمَّ بِحَقِّ هٰذَا الدُّعَآءِ

ALLAAHUMMA BEHAQQE HAAZAD DO-A’AA-E

O Allah For the sake of this prayer,

وَبِحَقِّ هٰذِهِ الْاَسْمَآءِ

WA BE HAQQE HAAZEHIL ASMAAA-IL

and for the sake of these Names

الَّتِیْ لَا یَعْلَمُ تَفْسِیْرَهَا وَلَا تَاْوِیْلَهَا

LATEE LAA YA’LAMO TAFSEERAHAA WA LAA TAAWEELOHAA

which no one can interpret,

وَلَا بَاطِنَهَا وَلَا ظَاهِرَهَا غَیْرُكَ

WA LAA BAATENAHAA WA LAA ZAAHERAHAA GHAIROKA

the inner and outer meaning of which no one other than Your self knows.

اَنْ تُصَلِّیَ عَلٰی مُحَمَّدٍ وَّاٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

AN TOSALLE A’LAA MOHAMMADIN WA AALE MOHAMMADIN

Send Your blessing upon Muhammad and the Progeny of Muhammad;

وَاَنْ تَرْزُقَنِیْ خَیْرَ الدُّنْیَا وَالْاٰخِرَۃِ.

WA AN TARZOQANEE KHARAD DUNYAA WAL AAKHERAH

and give me the good of this world and the hereafter;

وَافْعَلْ بِیْ مَا اَنْتَ اَهْلُهٗ

WAF-A’L BEE MAA ANTA AHLOHU

and do to me what suits You

وَلَا تَفْعَلْ بِیْ مَا اَنَا اَهْلُهٗ

WA LAA TAF-A’L BEE MAA ANAA AHLOHU

and do not do to me what I deserve

وَانْتَقِمْ لِیْ مِنْ...

WANTAQIM LEE MIN…

Name your enemy than say:

وَاغْفِرْ لِیْ مِنْ ذُنُوْبِیْ

WAGHFIRLEE MIN ZONOOBI

and forgive my sins

مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْهَا وَمَا تَاَخَّرَ

MAA TAQADDAMA MINHAA WA MAA TA-AKH-KHARA

past and future,

وَلِوَالِدَیَّ وَلِجَمِیْعِ الْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ وَاْلمُؤْمِنَاتِ

WA LE WAALEDAYYAA WA LE JAMEE-I’L MO-MENEENA WAL MOMENAATE

and forgive my parents and all faithful men and women,

وَوَسِّعْ عَلَیَّ مِنْ حَلَالِ رِزْقِكَ

WA WASSE’ A’LAYYAA MIN HALAALE RIZQEKA

and increase Your lawful sustenance for me,

وَاكْفِنِیْ مَؤُنَۃَ اِنْسَانِ سَوْءٍ

WAK-FENEE MAOONATA INSAANE SAW-IN

and save me from the help of wicked men,

وَّجَارِ سَوْءٍ وَّسُلْطَانِ سَوْءٍ

WA JAARE SAW-INW WA SULTAANE SAW-INW

wicked neighbours, wicked rulers,

وَّقَرِیْنِ سَوْءٍ وَّیَوْمِ سَوْءٍ وَّسَاعَۃِ سَوْءٍ

WA QAREENE SAW-INW WA YAWME SAW-INW WA SAA-A’TE SAW-IN

wicked companions, and evil days, and evil hours,

وَانْتَقِمْ لِیْ مِمَّنْ یَكِیْدُنِیْ

WANTAQIM LEE MIMMAN YAKEEDONEE

and exact vengeance for me on everyone who hatches secret plots against me,

وَمِمَّنْ یَبْغِیْ عَلَیَّ وَیُرِیْدُ بِیْ وَبِاَهْلِیْ

WA MIMMAN YABGHEE A’LAYYA WA YOREEDO BEE WA BE AHLEE

and on everyone who oppresses me and seeks to do to me or my family

وَاَوْلَادِیْ وَاِخْوَانِیْ

WA AWLAADEE WA IKHWAANEE

or my children or my brothers

وَجِیْرَانِیْ وَقَرَابَاتِیْ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ ظُلْمًا

WA JEERAANI WA QARAABATI MENAL MOMENEENA WAL MOMENAATE ZULMAN

or my neighbours or my relations among faithful men and women. (seeks to do) injustice

اِنَّكَ عَلٰی مَا تَشَآءُ قَدِیْرٌ

INNAKA A’LAA MAA TASHAAA-O QADEERUN

Verily You are able to do whatever You will,

وَّبِكُلِّ شَیْءٍ عَلِیْمٌ

WA BE KULLE SHAY’IN A’LEEMUN

and You know everything.

اٰمِیْنَ رَبَّ الْعٰلَمِیْنَ.

AAMEEN RABBAL A’AALAMEEN

Aameen, O Lord of the worlds.

Then say:

اَللّٰهُمَّ بِحَقِّ هٰذَا الدُّعَآءِ

ALLAAHUMMA BEHAQQE HAAZAD DO-A’AA-E

O Allah! For the sake of this prayer,

تَفَضَّلْ عَلٰی فُقَرَآءِ الْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ بِالْغِنٰی وَالثَّرْوَۃِ

TAFAZZAL A’LAA FOQARAAA-IL MOMENEENA WAL MOMENAATE BIL GHENAA WAS SARWATE

grant wealth and affluence to indigent faithful men and women,

وَعَلٰی مَرْضَی الْمُؤْمِنیْنَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ بِالشِّفَآءِ وَالصِّحَّۃِ

WA A’LAA MARZAL MOMENEENA WAL MOMENAATE BISH-SHEFAA-E WAS-SEHATE

and recovery and sound health to the sick faithful men and women,

وَعَلٰی اَحْیَآءِ الْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ بِاللُّطْفِ وَالْكَرَامَۃِ

WA A’LAA AHYAAA-IL MOMENEENA WAL MOMENAATE BIL-LUTFE WAL KARAAMATE

and bliss and clemency to the living faithful men and women,

وَعَلٰی اَمْوَاتِ الْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ بِالْمَغْفِرَۃِ وَالرَّحْمَۃِ

WA A’LAA AMWAATIL MOMENEENA WAL MOMENAATE BIL MAGHFERATE WAR-RAHMATE

and remit the sins of, and have mercy on, the deceased faithful men and women,

وَعَلٰی مُسَافِرِی الْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ وَالْمْؤْمِنَاتِ بِالرَّدِّ اِلٰی اَوْطَانِهِمْ سَالِمِیْنَ غَانِمِیْنَ

WA A’LAA MOSAAFERIL MOMENEENA WAL MOMENAATE BIR-RADDE ELAA AWTAANEHIM SAALEMEENA GHAANEMEENA

and arrange the return home of all faithful travellers with safety and gain.

بِرَحْمَتِكَ یَا اَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِیْنَ

BE RAHMATEKA YAA ARHAMAR RAAHEMEENA

Through Your mercy, O Most Merciful of all the merciful.

وَصَلَّی اللهُ عَلٰی سَیِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ خَاتَمِ النَّبِیِّیْنَ

WA SALLALLAAHO A’LAA SAYYEDENAA MOHAMMADIN KHAATAMIN NABIYYEENA

May Allah’s blessings be upon our master Muhammad, the seal of the prophets,

وَعِتْرَتِهِ الطَّاهِرِیْنَ

WA I’TRATEHIT TAAHERAANA

and his Progeny, the purified.

وَسَلَّمَ تَسْلِیْمًا كَثِیْرًا.

WA SALLAMA TASLEEMAN KASEERAN

and His peace be upon them plentifully

Sheikh Ibn Fahad narrates that it is recommended after reciting Dua al-Semaat to recite the following:

اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّیْ اَسْئَلُكَ بِحُرْمَۃِ هٰذَا الدُّعَآءِ

ALLAAHUMMA INNEE AS-ALOKA BE HURMATE HAAZEID-DO-A’AAA-E

O Allah I ask you for the sake of this prayer

وَبِمَا فَاتَ مِنْهُ مِنَ الْاَسْمَآءِ

WA BEMAA FAATA MINHO MENAL AS-MAAA-E

and what was mentioned in it from names

وَبِمَا یَشْتَمِلُ عَلَیْهِ مِنَ التَّفْسِیْرِ وَالتَّدْبِیْرِ

WA BEMAA YASHTAMELO A’LAYHE MENAT-TAFSEERE WAT-TADBEERIL

and what it contains from meanings and design

الَّذِیْ لَا یُحِیْطُ بِهٖ اِلَّا اَنْتَ

LAZEE LAA YOHEETO BEHI ILLAA ANTA

which none other than You comprehend fully

اَنْ تَفْعَلَ بِیْ...

AN TAF-A’LA BEE...

that you do to me …

mention your legitimate needs.
