Dua al-Mahd (a.t.f.s.)i اللهم ارزقنا توفیق الطاعه

Text and Translation

Al-Kaf’ami, in al-Misbah, says “This is the supplicatory prayer of Imam al-Mahdi (a.t.f.s.):

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

BISMILLAAHIR RAHMAANIR RAHEEM

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

اَللّٰهُمَّ ارْزُقْنَا تَوْفِيْقَ الطَّاعَةِ

ALLAAHUMMAR ZUQNAA TAWFEEQAT TAA-A’TE

O Allah, grant us the success of obedience,

وَ بُعْدَ الْمَعْصِيَةِ

WA BO’DAL MA’SEYATE

And distance from disobedience,

وَ صِدْقَ النِّيَّةِ

WA SIDQAN NIYYATE

And sincerity of intention,

وَ عِرْفَانَ الْحُرْمَةِ

WA I’RFAANAL HURMATE

And recognition of sanctity (i.e., respecting sacred limits).

وَ اَكْرِمْنَا بِالهُدٰى وَ الْاِسْتِقَامَةِ

WA AKRIMNAA BIL-HODAA WAL ISTEQAAMATE

And honor us with guidance and uprightness,

وَ سَدِّدْ اَلْسِنَتَنَا بِالصَّوَابِ وَ الْحِكْمَةِ

WA SADDID ALSENATANAA BIS-SAWAABE WAL HIKMATE

And make our tongues correct with rightness and wisdom,

وَ امْلَأْ قُلُوْبَنَا بِالْعِلْمِ وَ الْمَعْرِفَةِ

WAM-LAA QOLOOBANAA BIL-I’LME WAL MA’REFATE

And fill our hearts with knowledge and gnosis (spiritual understanding),

وَ طَهِّرْ بُطُوْنَنَا مِنَ الْحَرَامِ وَ الشُّبْهَةِ

WA TAHHIR BOTOONANAA MENAL HARAAME WASH SHUBHATE

And purify our stomachs from the unlawful and doubtful,

وَ اكْفُفْ اَيْدِيَنَا عَنِ الظُّلْمِ وَ السَّرِقَةِ

WAK FUF AYDEYANAA A’NIZ ZULME WAS SAREQATE

And restrain our hands from oppression and theft,

وَ اغْضُضْ اَبْصَارَنَا عَنِ الْفُجُوْرِ وَ الْخِيَانَةِ

WAGH ZUZ ABSAARANAA A’NIL FOJOORE WAL KHEYAANATE

And lower our gazes from immorality and betrayal,

وَ اسْدُدْ اَسْمَاعَنَا عَنِ اللَّغْوِ وَ الْغِيْبَةِ

WAS DUD ASMAA-A’NAA A’NIL LAGHWE WAL GHEEBATE

And seal our ears from idle talk and backbiting.

وَ تَفَضَّلْ عَلٰى عُلَمَاۤئِنَا بِالزُّهْدِ وَ النَّصِيْحَةِ

WA TAFAZZAL A’LAA O’LAMAAA-ENAA BIZ-ZOHDE WAN NASEEHATE

And bestow Your favour upon our scholars with asceticism and sincere advice,

وَ عَلَى الْمُتَعَلِّمِيْنَ بِالْجُهْدِ وَ الرَّغْبَةِ

WA A’LAL MOTA-A’LLEMEENA BIL-JOHDE WAR RAGHBATE

And upon the students with effort and desire (for knowledge),

وَ عَلَى الْمُسْتَمِعِيْنَ بِالْاِتِّبَاعِ وَ الْمَوْعِظَةِ

WA A’LAL MUSTAME-E’ENA BIL-ITTEBAA-E’ WAL MAW-E’ZATE

And upon the listeners with following and admonition,

وَ عَلٰى مَرْضَى الْمُسْلِمِيْنَ بِالشِّفَاۤءِ وَ الرَّاحَةِ

WA A’LAA MARZAL MUSLEMEENA BISH-SHE-FAAA-E WAR RAAHATE

And upon the sick among the Muslims with healing and comfort,

وَ عَلٰى مَوْتَاهُمْ بِالرَّأْفَةِ وَ الرَّحْمَةِ

WA A’LAA MAWTAAHUM BIR-RAAFATE WAR RAHMATE

And upon their dead with gentleness and mercy,

وَ عَلٰى مَشَايِخِنَا بِالْوَقَارِ وَ السَّكِيْنَةِ

WA A’LAA MASHAA-YEKHENAA BIL-WAQAARE WAS SAKEENATE

And upon our elders with dignity and tranquility,

وَ عَلَى الشَّبَابِ بِالْاِنَابَةِ وَ التَّوْبَةِ

WA A’LASH SHABAABE BIL-ENAABATE WAT TAWBATE

And upon the youth with turning back and repentance,

وَ عَلَى النِّسَاۤءِ بِالْحَيَاۤءِ وَ الْعِفَّةِ

WA A’LAN NESAAA-E BIL-HAYAAA-E WAL I’FFATE

And upon the women with modesty and chastity,

وَ عَلَى الْاَغْنِيَاۤءِ بِالتَّوَاضُعِ وَ السَّعَةِ

WA A’LAL AGHNEYAAA-E BIT-TAWAA-ZO-E’ WAS SA-A’TE

And upon the wealthy with humility and generosity,

وَ عَلَى الْفُقَرَاۤءِ بِالصَّبْرِ وَ الْقَنَاعَةِ

WA A’LAL FOQARAAA-E BIS-SABRE WAL QANAA-A’TE

And upon the poor with patience and contentment,

وَ عَلَى الْغُزَاةِ بِالنَّصْرِ وَ الْغَلَبَةِ

WA A’LAL GHOZAATE BIN-NASRE WAL GHALABATE

And upon the warriors with victory and dominance (over the enemy),

وَ عَلَى الْاُسَرَاۤءِ بِالْخَلَاصِ وَ الرَّاحَةِ

WA A’LAL OSARAAA-E BIL KHALAASE WAR RAAHATE

And upon the prisoners with release and comfort,

وَ عَلَى الْاُمَرَاۤءِ بِالْعَدْلِ وَ الشَّفَقَةِ

WA A’LAL OMARAAA-E BIL A’DLE WASH SHAFAQATE

And upon the rulers with justice and compassion,

وَ عَلَى الرَّعِيَّةِ بِالْاِنْصَافِ وَ حُسْنِ السِّيْرَةِ

WA A’LAR RA-E’EYYATE BIL-INSAAFE WA HUSNIS SEERATE

And upon the subjects with fairness and good conduct.

وَ بَارِكْ لِلْحُجَّاجِ وَ الزُّوَّارِ فِيْ الزَّادِ وَ النَّفَقَةِ
