Text and Translation
THIRD COMPREHENSIVE FORM OF ZIYARAH
Allamah al-Majlisi (r.a.), in his book of Tohfat al-Zaaer, has listed the following comprehensive form of ziyarah as the eighth, saying: This form of ziyarah has been reported by Sayyid Ibn Tawus (r.a.) within the supplicatory prayers of the Arafah Day from Imam al-Sadiq (a.s.). It can be said at visiting any shrine at any time, especially on the Arafah Day. It is as follows:
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا رَسُوْلَ اللّٰهِ
AS-SALAAMO A’LAYKA YAA RASOOLAL LAAHE
Peace be upon you, O Messenger of Allah.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا نَبِيَّ اللّٰهِ
AS-SALAAMO A’LAYKA YAA NABIIYYAL LAAHE
Peace be upon you, O Prophet of Allah.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا خِيَرَةَ اللّٰهِ مِنْ خَلْقِهٖ وَاَمِيْنَهٗ عَلٰى وَحْيِهٖ
AS-SALAAMO A’LAYKA YAA KHIYARATAL LAAHE MIN KHALQEHE WA AMEENAHO A’LAA WAHYEHI
Peace be upon you, O chosen one of Allah from His creation, and His trustee over His revelation.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مَوْلَايَ يَاۤ اَمِيْرَ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ
AS-SALAAMO A’LAYKA YAA MAWLAAYA YAA AMEERAL MO-MENEENA
Peace be upon you, O my master, O Commander of the Faithful.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مَوْلَايَ اَنْتَ حُجَّةُ اللّٰهِ عَلٰى خَلْقِهٖ
AS-SALAAMO A’LAYKA YAA MAWLAAYA ANTA HUJJATUL LAAHE A’LAA KHALQEHI
Peace be upon you, O my master; you are the proof of Allah over His creation,
وَبَابُ عِلْمِهٖ وَوَصِيُّ نَبِيِّهٖ
WA BAABO I’LMEHI WA WASIYYO NABIIYYEHI
the gate to His knowledge, the executor of His Prophet,
وَالْخَلِيْفَةُ مِنْ بَعْدِهٖ فِي اُمَّتِهٖ
WAL KHALEEFATO MIM BA’-DEHI FEE UMMATEHI
and the successor after him within his nation.
لَعَنَ اللّٰهُ اُمَّةً غَصَبَتْكَ حَقَّكَ وَقَعَدَتْ مَقْعَدَكَ
LA-A’NAL LAAHO UMMATAN GHASABATKA HAQQAKA WA QA-A’DAT MAQ-A’DAKA
May Allah curse the nation that usurped your right and seated themselves in your place;
اَنَا بَرِيْۤءٌ مِنْهُمْ وَمِنْ شِيْعَتِهِمْ اِلَيْكَ
ANA BA-REE-UM MINHUM WA MIN SHEE-A’TEHIM ELAYKA
I disassociate myself from them and from their followers before you.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكِ يَا فَاطِمَةُ الْبَتُوْلُ
AS-SALAAMO A’LAYKE YAA FAATEMATAL BATOOLO
Peace be upon you, O Fatemah al-Batool.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكِ يَا زَيْنَ نِسَاۤءِ الْعَالَمِيْنَ
AS-SALAAMO A’LAYKE YAA ZAYNA NESAAA-IL A’ALAMEENA
Peace be upon you, O adornment of the women of the worlds.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكِ يَا بِنْتَ رَسُوْلِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِيْنَ
AS-SALAAMO A’LAYKE YAA BINTA RASOOLE RABBIL A’ALAMEENA
Peace be upon you, O daughter of the Messenger of the Lord of the worlds;
صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْكِ وَعَلَيْهِ
SALLAL LAAHO A’LAYKE WA A’LAYHE
may the blessings of Allah be upon you and upon him.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكِ يَاۤ اُمَّ الْحَسَنِ وَالْحُسَيْنِ
AS-SALAAMO A’LAYKE YAA UMMAL HASANE WAL HUSAYNE
Peace be upon you, O mother of al-Hasan and al-Husayn.
لَعَنَ اللّٰهُ اُمَّةً غَصَبَتْكِ حَقَّكِ
LA-A’NAL LAAHO UMMATAN GHASABATKE HAQQAKE
May Allah curse the nation that usurped your right
وَمَنَعَتْكِ مَا جَعَلَهُ اللّٰهُ لَكِ حَلَالًا
WA MANA-A’TKE MAA JA-A’LAHUL LAAHO LAKE HALAALAN
and withheld from you what Allah had made lawful for you;
اَنَا بَرِيْءٌ اِلَيْكِ مِنْهُمْ وَمِنْ شِيْعَتِهِمْ
ANA BA-REE-UM ELAYKE MINHUM WA MIN SHEE-A’TEHIM
I disassociate myself from them and from their followers before you.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مَوْلَايَ يَاۤ اَبَا مُحَمَّدٍۨ الْحَسَنَ الزَّكِيَّ
AS-SALAAMO A’LAYKA YAA MAWLAAYA YAA ABAA MOHAMMADINIL HASANAZ ZAKIYYA
Peace be upon you, O my master, O Aba Muhammad, al-Hasan the pure.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مَوْلَايَ لَعَنَ اللّٰهُ اُمَّةً قَتَلَتْكَ
AS-SALAAMO A’LAYKA YAA MAWLAAYA LA-A’NAL LAAHO UMMATAN QATALATKA
Peace be upon you, O my master. May Allah curse the nation that killed you,
وَبَايَعَتْ فِي اَمْرِكَ وَشَايَعَتْ
WA BAAYA-A’T FEE AMREKA WA SHAAYA-A’T
compromised against you, and aligned with [your enemies];
اَنَا بَرِيۤءٌ اِلَيْكَ مِنْهُمْ وَمِنْ شِيْعَتِهِمْ
ANA BA-REE-UN ELAYKA MINHUM WA MIN SHEE-A’TEHIM
I disassociate myself from them and from their followers before you.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مَوْلَايَ يَاۤ اَبَا عَبْدِ اللّٰهِ الْحُسَيْنَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ
AS-SALAAMO A’LAYKA YAA MAWLAAYA YAA ABAA A’BDIL LAAHIL HUSAYN ABNA A’LIYYIN
Peace be upon you, O my master, O Aba Abdillah, al-Husayn ibn Ali;
صَلَوَاتُ اللّٰهِ عَلَيْكَ وَعَلٰۤى اَبِيْكَ وَجَدِّكَ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ
SALAWAATUL LAAHE A’LAYKA WA A’LAA ABEEKA WA JADDEKA MOHAMMADIN SALLAL LAAHO A’LAYHE WA AALEHI
may the blessings of Allah be upon you, and upon your father and your grandfather Muhammad, may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him and his family.
لَعَنَ اللّٰهُ اُمَّةً۟ اِسْتَحَلَّتْ دَمَكَ
LA-A’NAL LAAHO UMMATANIS TAHALLAT DAMAKA
May Allah curse the nation that deemed your blood lawful,
وَلَعَنَ اللّٰهُ اُمَّةً قَتَلَتْكَ وَاسْتَبَاحَتْ حَرِيْمَكَ
WA LA-A’NAL LAAHO UMMATAN QATALATKA WAS TABAAHAT HAREEMAKA
and may Allah curse the nation that killed you and violated your sanctity.
وَلَعَنَ اللّٰهُ اَشْيَاعَهُمْ وَاَتْبَاعَهُمْ
WA LA-A’NAL LAAHO ASHYAA-A’HUM WA ATBAA-A’HUM
May Allah curse their factions and their followers,
وَلَعَنَ اللّٰهُ الْمُمَهِّدِيْنَ لَهُمْ بِالتَّمْكِيْنِ مِنْ قِتَالِكُمْ
WA LA-A’NAL LAAHUL MOMAHHEDEENA LAHUM BIT-TAMKEENE MIN QETAALEKUM
and may Allah curse those who paved the way for them by enabling them to fight against you;
اَنَا بَرِيْۤءٌ اِلَى اللّٰهِ وَاِلَيْكَ مِنْهُمْ
ANA BA-REE-UN ELAL LAAHE WA ELAYKA MINHUM
I disassociate myself from them before Allah and before you.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مَوْلَايَ يَا اَبَا مُحَمَّدٍ عَلِيَّ بْنَ الْحُسَيْنِ
AS-SALAAMO A’LAYKA YAA MAWLAAYA YAA ABAA MOHAMMADIN A’LIY YABNAL HUSAYNE
Peace be upon you, O my master, O Aba Muhammad, Ali ibn al-Husayn.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مَوْلَايَ يَا اَبَا جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ
AS-SALAAMO A’LAYKA YAA MAWLAAYA YAA ABAA JA’-FARIN MOHAMMAD ABNA A’LIYYIN
Peace be upon you, O my master, O Aba Ja'far, Muhammad ibn Ali.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مَوْلَايَ يَا اَبَا عَبْدِ اللّٰهِ جَعْفَرَ بْنَ مُحَمَّدٍ
AS-SALAAMO A’LAYKA YAA MAWLAAYA YAA ABAA A’BDIL LAAHE JA’-FAR ABNA MOHAMMADIN
Peace be upon you, O my master, O Aba Abdillah, Ja'far ibn Muhammad.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مَوْلَايَ يَا اَبَا الْحَسَنِ مُوْسَى بْنَ جَعْفَرٍ
AS-SALAAMO A’LAYKA YAA MAWLAAYA YAA ABAL HASANE MOOSAB NA JA’-FARIN
Peace be upon you, O my master, O Aba al-Hasan, Musa ibn Ja'far.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مَوْلَايَ يَا اَبَا الْحَسَنِ عَلِيَّ بْنَ مُوْسٰۤى
AS-SALAAMO A’LAYKA YAA MAWLAAYA YAA ABAL HASANE A’LIY YABNA MOOSA
Peace be upon you, O my master, O Aba al-Hasan, Ali ibn Moosa.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مَوْلَايَ يَا اَبَا جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ
AS-SALAAMO A’LAYKA YAA MAWLAAYA YAA ABAA JA’-FARIN MOHAMMAD ABNA A’LIYYIN
Peace be upon you, O my master, O Aba Ja'far, Muhammad ibn Ali.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مَوْلَايَ يَا اَبَا الْحَسَنِ عَلِيَّ بْنَ مُحَمَّدٍ
AS-SALAAMO A’LAYKA YAA MAWLAAYA YAA ABAL HASANE A’LIYYAB NA MOHAMMADIN
Peace be upon you, O my master, O Aba al-Hasan, Ali ibn Muhammad.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مَوْلَايَ يَا اَبَا مُحَمَّدٍۨ الْحَسَنَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ
AS-SALAAMO A’LAYKA YAA MAWLAAYA YAA ABAA MOHAMMADENIL HASAN ABNA A’LIYYIN
Peace be upon you, O my master, O Aba Muhammad, al-Hasan ibn Ali.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مَوْلَايَ يَا اَبَا الْقَاسِمِ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ الْحَسَنِ
AS-SALAAMO A’LAYKA YAA MAWLAAYA YAA ABAL QAASEME MOHAMMAD ABNAL HASANE
Peace be upon you, O my master, O Aba al-Qasim, Muhammad ibn al-Hasan,
صَاحِبَ الزَّمَانِ صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْكَ وَعَلٰى عِتْرَتِكَ الطَّاهِرَةِ الطَّيِّبَةِ
SAAHEBAZ ZAMAANE SALLAL LAAHO A’LAYKA WA A’LAA I’TRATEKAT TAAHERATIT TAYYEBATE
the Master of the Time; may the blessings of Allah be upon you and upon your pure and wholesome progeny.
يَا مَوَالِيَّ كُوْنُوْا شُفَعَاۤئِيْ فِيْ حَطِّ وِزْرِيْ وَخَطَايَايَ
YAA MAWAALIYYA KOONOO SHOFA-A’AAA-EE FEE HATTE WIZREE WA KHATAAYAAYA
O my masters, be my intercessors in the shedding of my burdens and my mistakes.
اٰمَنْتُ بِاللّٰهِ وَبِمَا اُنْزِلَ اِلَيْكُمْ وَاَتَوَالٰى اٰخِرَكُمْ بِمَا اَتَوَالٰى اَوَّلَكُمْ
AAMANTO BILLAAHE WA BEMAA UNZELA ELAYKUM WA ATAWAALAA AAKHERAKUM BEMAA ATAWAALAA AWWALAKUM
I believe in Allah and in what has been revealed to you. I accept the leadership of the last of you just as I accept the leadership of the first of you,
وَبَرِئْتُ مِنَ الْجِبْتِ وَالطَّاغُوْتِ وَاللَّاتِ وَالْعُزّٰى
WA BARE-TO MENAL JIBTE WAT TAAGHOOTE WAL LAATE WAL U’ZZAA
and I disassociate myself from the false sorcerer (Jibt), the tyrant (Taghut), al-Lat, and al-Uzza.
يَا مَوَالِيَّ اَنَا سِلْمٌ لِمَنْ سَالَمَكُمْ وَحَرْبٌ لِمَنْ حَارَبَكُمْ
YAA MAWAALIYYA ANA SILMUN LEMAN SAALAMAKUM WA HARBUN LEMAN HAARABAKUM
O my masters, I am at peace with whomever is at peace with you, at war with whomever is at war with you,
وَعَدُوٌّ لِمَنْ عَادَاكُمْ وَوَلِيٌّ لِمَنْ وَالَاكُمْ اِلٰى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ
WA A’DUWWUL LEMAN A’ADAAKUM WA WALIYYUN LEMAN WAALAAKUM ELAA YAWMIL QEYAAMATE
an enemy to whomever shows enmity to you, and a friend to whomever aligns with you, until the Day of Resurrection.
وَلَعَنَ اللّٰهُ ظَالِمِيْكُمْ وَغَاصِبِيْكُمْ
WA LA-A’NAL LAAHO ZAALEMEEKUM WA GHAASEBEEKUM
May Allah curse those who oppressed you and usurped your rights,
وَلَعَنَ اللّٰهُ اَشْيَاعَهُمْ وَاَتْبَاعَهُمْ وَاَهْلَ مَذْهَبِهِمْ
WA LA-A’NAL LAAHO ASHYAA-A’HUM WA ATBAA-A’HUM WA AHLA MAZHABEHIM
and may Allah curse their factions, their followers, and the people of their school of thought;
وَاَبْرَاُ اِلَى اللّٰهِ وَاِلَيْكُمْ مِنْهُمْ.
WA ABRA-O ELAL LAAHE WA ELAYKUM MINHUM.
I disassociate myself from them before Allah and before you.
