Aamaal of the Night of Arafah

Text and Translation

اَللّٰهُمَّ یَا شَاهِدَ كُلِّ نَجْوٰی

It is recommended to say the following supplicatory prayer. It is narrated that Almighty Allah will forgive one who says this supplicatory prayer at the ‘Arafat Night or Friday nights:

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ.

BISMIL LAAHIR RAHAAMANIR RAHEEM.

In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.

اَللّٰهُمَّ یَا شَاهِدَ كُلِّ نَجْوٰی

ALLAAHUMMA YAA SHAAHEDA KULLE NAJWAA

O Allah Who witnesses all secrets of hearts,

وَمَوْضِعَ كُلِّ شَکْوٰی

WA MAWZE-A’ KULLE SHAKWAA

Who is the object of all complaints,

وَعَالِمَ كُلِّ خَفِیَّۃٍ

WA A’AALEMA KULLE KHAFIYYATIN

Who knows all hidden things,

وَمُنْتَهٰی كُلِّ حَاجَۃٍ

WA MUNTAHAA KULLE HAAJTIN

and Who is the aim of all needs!

یَا مُبْتَدِئًا بِالنِّعَمِ عَلَی الْعِبَادِ

WA MUBTA-DE-AN BIN-NE-A’ME A’LAL E’BAADE

O He Who instigates favoring on the Servants!

یَا كَریْمَ الْعَفْوِ

YAA KAREEMAL A’FWE

O He Who is All-generous in pardoning!

یَا حَسْنَ التَّجَاوُزِ

YAA HASANAT TAJAAWOZE

O He Who is All-excellent in overlooking!

یَا جَوَادُ یَا مَنْ لَا یُوَارِىْ مِنْهُ لَیْلٌ دَاجٍ

YAA JAWAADO YAA MAN LAA YOWAAREE MINHO LAYLUN DAAJIN

O All-magnanimous! O He Who cannot be concealed by the covering darkness of night,

وَلَا بَحْرٌ عَجَّاجٌ وَلَا سَمَآءٌ ذَاتُ اَبْرَاجٍ

WA LAA BAHRUN A’JJAAJUN WA LAA SAMAAA-UN ZAATO ABRAAJIN

the roaring clamor of oceans, the skies along with their constellations,

وَلَا ظُلَمٌ ذَاتُ ارْتِتَاجٍ

WA LA ZOLAMUN ZAATUR TETAAJIN

or the thunderous murk.

یَا مَنِ الظُّلْمَۃُ عِنْدَہٗ ضِیَآءٌ

YAA MANIZ ZULMATO I’NDAHU ZEYAAA-UN

O He with Whom the entire murk is light,

اَسْئَلُكَ بِنُوْرِ وَجْهِكَ الْكَرِیْمِ

AS-ALOKA BE-NOORE WAJHEKAL KAREEMIL

I beseech You in the name of the brightness of Your Noble Face

الَّذِيْ تَجَلَّیْتَ بِہٖ لِلْجَبَلِ فَجَعَلْتَہٗ دَکًّا

LAZEE TAJALLAYTA BEHI LIL-JABALE FA-JA-A’LTAHU DAKKAA

through which You manifested Your glory to the mountain; so, You made it crumble

وَخَرَّ مُوْسٰی صَعِقًا

WA KHARRA MOOSAA SA-E’QAA

and (Prophet) Moses fell down in a swoon,

وَبِاسْمِكَ الَّذِیْ رَفَعْتَ بِهِ السَّمٰوٰتِ بِلَا عَمَدٍ

WA BISMEKAL LAZEE RA-FA’TA BEHIS SAMAAWAATE BELAA A’MADIN

in the name of Your Name by which You raised the heavens without any pillars

وَسَطَحْتَ بِهِ الْاَرْضَ عَلٰی وَجْهِ مَآءٍ جَمَدٍ

WA SATAHTA BEHIL ARZA A’LAA WAJHE MAAA-IN JAMADIN

and by which You flattened the earth on the surface of solid water,

وَبِاسْمِكَ الْمَخْزُوْنِ الْمَکْنُوْنِ

WA BISMEKAL MAKHZOONIL MAKNOONIL

in the name of Your Name—the concealed, the stored,

الْمَکْتُوْبِ الطَّاهِرِ الَّذِیْ

MAKTOOBIT TAAHERIL LAZEE

the scribed, and the pure, which

اِذَا دُعِیْتَ بِہٖ اَجَبْتَ

EZAA DO-E’ETA BEHI AJABTA

You answer any one who beseeches You

وَاِذَا سُئِلْتَ بِہٖ اَعْطَیْتَ

WA EZAA SO-ILTA BEHI A-A’TAYTA

in its name and grant any one who asks You his request,

وَبِاسْمِكَ السُّبُوْحِ الْقُدُّوْسِ

WA BISMEKAS SUBBOOHIL QUDDOOSIL

in the name of Your Name; the Praised, Holy,

الْبُرْهَانِ الَّذِیْ هُوَ نُوْرٌ عَلٰی كُلِّ نُوْرٍ

BURHAANIL LAZEE HOWA NOORUN A’LAA KULLE NOORINW

and Demonstrative, which is light over the entire light,

وَّنُوْرٌ مِنْ نُوْرٍ یُضِیْءُ مِنْهُ كُلُّ نُوْرٍ

WA NOORUN MIN NOORIN YOZEE-O MINHO KULLO NOORIN

which is light made of light, and from which all lights take their brightness;

اِذَا بَلَغَ الْاَرْضَ انْشَقَّتْ

EZAA BALAGHAL ARZAN SHAQQAT

if it reaches the earth, it will be rent asunder,

وَاِذَا بَلَغَ السَّمٰوٰتِ فُتِحَتْ

WA EZAA BALAGHAS SAMAAWAATE FOTEHAT

if it reaches the heavens, they will be opened,

وَاِذَا بَلَغَ الْعَرْشَ اهْتَزَّ

WA EZAA BALAGHAL A’RSHAH TAZZA

and if it reaches the throne, it will quiver;

وَبِاسْمِكَ الَّذِیْ تَرْتَعِدُ مِنْهُ فَرَائِصُ مَلٰٓئِكَتِكَ

WA BISMEKAL LAZEE TARTA-E’DO MINHO FARAA-ESO MALAA-EKATEKA

and in the name of Your Name from the fear of which the muscles of Your angels tremble.

وَاَسْئَلُكَ بِحَقِّ جَبْرَئِیْلَ وَمِیْكَائِیْلَ وَاِسْرَافِیْلَ

WA AS-ALOKA BE-HAQQE JABRA-EELA WA MEEKAA-EELA WA ISRAAFEELA

I beseech You in the name of [Archangels] Gabriel, Michael, and Seraph,

وَبِحَقِّ مُحَمَّدٍۨ الْمُصْطَفٰی

WA BE-HAQQE MOHAMMADENIL MUSTAFAA

in the name of Muhammad, the Divinely-chosen Prophet,

صَلَّی اللهُ عَلَیْهِ وَاٰلِہٖ

SALLAL LAAHO A’LAYHE WA AALEHI

peace be upon him, his Household,

وَعَلٰی جَمِیْعِ الْاَنْبِیَآءِ وَجَمِیْعِ الْمَلٰٓئِكَۃِ

WA A’LAA JAMEE-I’L AMBEYAA-E WA JAMEE-I’L MALAA-EKATE

and all prophets and angels;

وَبِالْاِسْمِ الَّذِیْ مَشٰی بِهِ الْخَضِرُ عَلٰی قُلَلِ الْمَآءِ

WA BIL-ISLMIL LAZEE MASHAA BEHIL KHAZERO A’LAA QOLALIL MAAA-E

in the name of the Name through which al-Khizr could walk on waters

كَمَا مَشٰی بِہٖ عَلٰی جُدَدِ الْاَرْضِ

KAMAA MASHAA BEHI A’LAA JODADIL ARZE

just as he used to walk on lands;

وَبِاسْمِكَ الَّذِیْ فَلَقْتَ بِهِ الْبَحْرَ لِمُوْسٰی

WA BISMEKAL LAZEE FALAQTA BEHIL BAHRA LE-MOOSAA

in the name of You Name through which You caused the sea to cleave asunder for Moses,

وَاَغْرَقْتَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَقَوْمَہٗ

WA AGHRAQTA FIR-A’WNA WA QAWMAHU

You drowned Pharaoh and his people,

وَاَنْجَیْتَ بِہٖ مُوْسَی بْنَ عِمْرَانَ وَمَنْ مَعَهٗ

WA ANJAYTA BEHI MOOSAB NA I’MRAANA WA MAN MA-A’HU

and saved Moses, the son of Imran, and those who accompanied him;

وَبِاسْمِكَ الَّذِیْ دَعَاكَ بِہٖ مُوْسَی بْنَ عِمْرَانَ

WA BISMEKAL LAZEE DA-A’AKA BEHI MOOSAB NA I’MRAANA

in the name of Your Name by which Moses, the son of Imran,

مِنْ جَانِبِ الطُّوْرِ الْاَیْمَنِ

MIN JAANEBIT TOORIL AYMANE

besought You from the right slope of the Mount;

فَاسْتَجَبْتَ لَہٗ وَاَلْقَیْتَ عَلَیْهِ مَحَبَّۃً مِنْكَ

FAS-TAJABTA LAHU WA ALQAYTA A’LAYHE MAHABBATAN MINKA

so, You responded to him and cast down upon him love from You;

وَبِاسْمِكَ الَّذِیْ بِہٖ اَحْیٰی عِیْسَی بْنُ مَرْیَمَ الْمَوْتٰی

WA BISMEKAL LAZEE BEHI AHYAA E’ESAB NO MARYAMAL MAWTAA

in the name of Your Name by which Jesus, the son of Mary, brought life to the dead,

وَتَكَلَّمَ فِی الْمَهْدِ صَبِیًّا

WA TAKALLAMA FIL MAHDE SABIYYAN

could speak while he was a child in the cradle,

وَاَبْرَءَ الْاَکْمَهَ وَالْاَبْرَصَ بِاِذْنِكَ

WA ABRA-AL AKMAHA WAL ABRASA BE-IZNEKA

and healed the blind and the leprous by Your permission;

وَبِاسْمِكَ الَّذِیْ دَعَاكَ بِہٖ حَمَلَۃُ عَرْشِكَ

WA BISMEKAL LAZEE DA-A’AKA BEHI HAMALATO A’RSHEKA

in the name of Your Name by which the bearers of Your Throne besought You

وَجَبْرَئِیْلُ وَمِیْكَائِیْلُ وَاِسْرَافِیْلُ

WA JABRA-EELO WA MEEKAA-EELO WA ISRAAFEELO

and so did Gabriel, Michael, Seraph,

وَحَبِیْبُكَ مُحَمَّدٌ صَلَّی اللهُ عَلَیْهِ وَاٰلِہٖ

WA HABEEBOKA MOHAMMADUN SALLAL LAAHO A’LAYHE WA AALEHI

Muhammad Your most beloved one (peace be upon him and upon his Household),

وَمَلَآئِكَتُكَ الْمُقَرَّبُوْنَ وَاَنْبِیَآئُكَ الْمُرْسَلُوْنَ

WA MALAA-EKATOKAL MOQARRABOONA WA AMBEYAAA-OKAL MURSALOONA

Your favorite angels, Your messaged Prophets,

وَعِبَادُكَ الصَّالِحُوْنَ مِنْ اَهْلِ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرَضِیْنَ

WA E’BAADOKAS SAALEHOONA MIN AHLIS SAMAAWAATE WAL ARAZEENA

and Your righteous servants from among the inhabitants of the heavens and the layers of the earth;

وَبِاسْمِكَ الَّذِی دَعَاكَ بِہٖ ذُو النُّوْنِ

WA BISMEKAL LAZEE DA-A’AKA BEHI ZOON NOONE

in the name of Your Name by which Zu’l-Nun (Prophet Jonah) besought You

اِذْ ذَهَبَ مُغَاضِبًا فَظَنَّ اَنْ لَنْ نَقْدِرَ عَلَیْهِ

IZ ZAHABA MOGHAAZEBAN FAZANNA AN LAN NAQDERA A’LAYHE

when he departed in wrath: he imagined that You had no power over him,

فَنَادٰی فِی الظُّلُمَاتِ اَنْ لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اَنْتَ

FA-NAADAA FIZ ZOLOMAATE AN LAA ELAAHA ILLAA ANTA

but he cried through the depths of darkness, “There is no god but You.

سُبْحٰنَكَ اِنِّیْ كُنْتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِیْنَ

SUBHAANAKA INNEE KUNTO MENAZ ZAALEMEEN.

Glory be to You. I was indeed one of those who are wrong!”

فَاسْتَجَبْتَ لَہٗ وَنَجَّیْتَہٗ مِنَ الْغَمِّ

FASTAJABTA LAHU WA NAJJAYTAHU MENAL GHAMME

So, You responded to him and delivered him from the grief

وَكَذٰلِكَ نُنْجِی الْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ

WA KAZAALEKA NUNJIL MOAMENEENA

and thus do You deliver the believers;

وَبِاسْمِكَ الْعَظِیْمِ الَّذِیْ دَعَاكَ بِہٖ دَاوٗدُ

WA BISMEKAL A’ZEEMIL LAZEE DA-A’AKA BEHI DA-WOODA

in the name of Your Great Name by which David besought You

وَخَرَّ لَكَ سَاجِدًا فَغَفَرْتَ لَہٗ ذَنْبَہٗ

WA KHARRA LAKA SAAJEDAN FAHGAFARTA LAHU ZANBAHU

and as he fell down prostrating himself to You, You rectified it for him;

وَبِاسْمِكَ الَّذِیْ دَعَتْكَ بِہٖ اٰسِیَۃُ امْرَاَۃُ فِرْعَوْنَ

WA BISMEKAL LAZEE DA-A’TKA BEHI AASEYATUM RA-ATO FIR-A’WNA

in the name of Your Name by which Aasiyah, the wife of Pharaoh, besought You,

اِذْ قَالَتْ رَبِّ ابْنِ لِیْ عِنْدَكَ بَیْتًا فِی الْجَنَّۃِ

IZ QAALAT RABBIB NE LEE I’NDAKA BAYTAN FIL JANNATE

saying, “My Lord! Build for me a house with You in Paradise,

وَنَجِّنِیْ مِنْ فِرْعَوْنَ وَعَمَلِہٖ

WA NAJJENEE MIN FIR-A’WNA WA A’MALEHI

deliver me from Pharaoh and his doing,

وَنَجِّنِیْ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ الظَّالِمِیْنَ

WA NAJJENEE MENAL QAWMIZ ZAALEMEENA

and deliver me from the unjust people.”

فَاسْتَجَبْتَ لَهَا دُعَائَهَا

FASTAJABTA LAHAA DO-A’A-AHAA

So, You responded to her prayer;

وَبِاسْمِكَ الَّذِیْ دَعَكَ بِہٖ اَیُوْبُ

WA BISMEKAL LAZEE DA-A’AKA BEHI AYYOOBO

in the name of Your Name by which (Prophet) Job

اِذْ حَلَّ بِهِ الْبَلَآءُ فَعَافَیْتَہٗ

IZ HALLA BEHIL BALAA-O FA-A’AFAYTAHU

besought You after misfortune had befallen him;

وَاٰتَیْتَہٗ اَهْلَہٗ وَمِثْلَهُمْ مَعَهُمْ

WA AATAYTAHU AHLAHU WA MISLAHUM MA-A’HUM

so, You healed him and gave him his family and the like of them with them:

رَحْمَۃً مِّنْ عِنْدِكَ وَذِکْرٰی لِلْعَابِدِیْنَ

RAHMATAM MIN I’NDEKA WA ZIKRAA LIL-A’ABEDEENA

a mercy from You and a reminder to the worshippers;

وَبِاسْمِكَ الَّذِیْ دَعَاكَ بِہٖ یَعْقُوْبُ فَرَدَدْتَ عَلَیْهِ بَصَرَہٗ

WA BISMEKAL LAZEE DA-A’AKA BEHI YA’QOOBO FA-RADADTA A’LAYHE BASARAHU

in the name of Your Name by which (Prophet) Jacob besought You; so, You returned to him his sight

وَقُرَّۃَ عَیْنِہٖ یُوْسُفَ وَجَمَعْتَ شَمْلَہٗ

WA QURRATA A’YNEHI YOOSOFA WA JA-MA’TA SHAMLAHU

and the delight of his heart, Joseph, and You reunified him;

وَبِاسْمِكَ الَّذِیْ دَعَاكَ بِہٖ سُلَیْمَانُ فَوَهَبْتَ لَہٗ مُلْکًا

WA BISMEKAL LAZEE DA-A’AKA BEHI SOLAYMAANO FA-WAHABTA LAHU MULKAL

in the name of Your Name by which (Prophet) Solomon besought You; so, You gifted him kingdom

لَّا یَنْبَغِیْ لِاَحَدٍ مِنْ بَعْدِہٖ

LAA YANBAGHEE LE-AHADIN MIM BA’DEHI

that none else should never gain,

اِنَّكَ اَنْتَ الْوَهَابُ

INNAKA ANTAL WAHHAABO

for You are verily the Granter of bounties;

وَبِاسْمِكَ الَّذِیْ سَخَّرْتَ بِهِ الْبُرَاقَ لِمُحَمَّدٍ

WA BISMEKAL LAZEE SAKHKHARTA BEHIL BORAAQA LE-MOHAMMADIN

in the name of Your Name by which You subdued the Buraq to Muhammad,

صَلَّی اللهُ عَلَیْهِ وَاٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّمَ

SALLAL LAAHO A’LAYHE WAA LAAHI WA SALLAAMA

peace and blessings be upon him and his Household,

اِذْ قَالَ تَعَالٰی سُبْحَانَ الَّذِیْ اَسْرٰی بِعَبْدِہٖ

IZ QAALA TA-A’ALAA SUBHAANAL LAZEE ASRAA BE-A’BDEHI

as Almighty Allah says, “Glory be to Him Who made His servant

لَیْلًا مِّنَ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ اِلَی الْمَسْجِدِ الْاَقْصٰی

LAYLAM MENAL MASJEDIL HARAAME ELAL MASJEDIL AQSAA

to go on a night from the Sacred Mosque to the remote mosque.”

وَقَوْلُہٗ سُبْحَانَ الَّذِیْ سَخَّرَ لَنَا هٰذَا

WA QAWLOHU SUBHAANAL LAZEE SAKHKHARA LANAA HAAZAA

He also says, “Glory be to Him Who made this subservient to us

وَمَا كُنَّا لَہٗ مُقْرِنِیْنَ وَاِنَّا اِلٰی رَبِّنَا لَمُنْقَلِبُوْنَ

WA MAA KUNNA LAHU MUKRENEENA WA INNAA ELAA RABBENAA LA-MUNQALEBOONA

and we were not able to do it. Surely, to our Lord we must return;”

وَبِاسْمِكَ الَّذِیْ تَنَزَّلَ بِہٖ جَبْرَئِیْلُ عَلٰی مُحَمَّدٍ

WA BISMEKAL LAZEE TANAZZALA BEHI JABRA-EELO A’LAA MOHAMMADIN

in the name of Your Name by which (Archangel) Jibraeel used to ascend to Muhammad,

صَلَّی اللهُ عَلَیْهِ وَاٰلِہٖ

SALLAL LAAHO A’LAYHE WA AALEHI

peace be upon him and his Household;

وَبِاسْمِكَ الَّذِیْ دَعَاكَ بِہٖ اٰدَمُ

WA BISMEKAL LAZEE DA-A’AKA BEHI AADAMO

and in the name of Your Name by which Adam besought You;

فَغَفَرْتَ لَہٗ ذَنْۢبَہٗ وَاَسْكَنْتَہٗ جَنَّتَكَ

FA-GHAFARTA LAHU ZAMBAHU WA ASKANTAHU JANNATAKA

so, You rectified him and allowed him to dwell in Your Paradise.

وَاَسْئَلُكَ بِحَقِّ الْقُرْاٰنِ الْعَظِیْمِ

WA AS-ALOKA BEHAQQIL QURAANIL A’ZEEME

I beseech You in the name of the Great Qur'an,

وَبِحَقِّ مُحَمَّدٍ خَاتَمِ النَّبِیِّیْنَ

WA BE-HAQQE MOHAMMADIN KHAATAMIN NABIYYEENA

in the name of Muhammad, the Seal of the Prophets,

وَبِحَقِّ اِبْرَاهِيْمَ وَبِحَقِّ فَصْلِكَ نَوْمَ الْقَضَآءِ

WA BE-HAQQE IBRAAHEEMA WA BE-HAQQE FAZLEKA NAWMAL QAZAAA-E

in the name of Abraham, in the name of Your Judgment on the Day of the Administration of Justice,

وَبِحَقِّ الْمَوَازِیْنِ اِذَا نُصِبَتْ

WA BE-HAQQIL MAWAAZEENE EZAA NOSEBAT

in the name of the Scales when they shall be set up,

وَالصُّحُفِ اِذَا نُشِرَتْ

WAS SOHOFE EZAA NOSHERAT

the Scrolls when they shall be laid open,

وَبِحَقِّ الْقَلَمِ وَمَا جَرٰی

WA BE-HAQQIL QALAME WA MAA JARAA

the Pen and whatever has been decided,

وَاللَّوْحِ وَمَا اَحْصٰی

WAL-LAWHE WA MAA AHSAA

and the Tablet and whatever it has recorded;

وَبِحَقِّ الْاِسْمِ الَّذِیْ كَتَبْتَہٗ عَلٰی سُرَادِقِ الْعَرْشِ

WA BE-HAQQIL ISMIL LAZEE KATABTAHU A’LAA SORAADEQIL A’RSHE

in the name of the Name that You had inscribed on the pavilion of the Divine Throne

قَبْلَ خَلْقِكَ الْخَلْقَ وَالدُّنْیَا وَالشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ بِاَلْفَیْ عَامٍ

QABLA KHALQEKAL KHALQA WAD DUNYAA WASH SHAMSA WAL QAMARA BE-ALFAY A’AMIN

two thousand years before You created the beings, the world, the sun, and the moon.

وَاَشْهَدُ اَنْ لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ وَحْدَہٗ لَا شَرِیْكَ لَہٗ

WA ASH-HADO AN LAA ELAAHA ILLAL LAAHO WAHDAHU LAA SHAREEKA LAHU

I bear witness that there is no god save Allah, alone without having any partner,

وَاَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُہٗ وَرَسُوْلُہٗ

WA ANNA MOHAMMADAN A’BDOHU WA RASOOLOHU

and that Muhammad is his servant and messenger.

وَاَسْئَلُكَ بِاسْمِكَ الْمَخْزُوْنِ فِیْ خَزَائِنِكَ

WA AS-ALOKA BISMEKAL MAKHZOONE FEE KHAZAA-ENEKAL

I beseech You in the name of Your Name that is hoarded in Your stores,

الَّذِیْ اسْتَاْثَرْتَ بِہٖ فِیْ عِلْمِ الْغَیْبِ عِنْدَكَ

LAZIS TAASARTA BEHI FEE I’LMIL GHAYBE I’NDAKA

You have kept in the knowledge of the Unseen with You

لَمْ یَظْهَرْ عَلَیْهِ اَحَدٌ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ

LAM YAZHAR A’LAYHE AHADUN MIN KAHLQEKA

and it has not been shown to any of Your creatures,

لَا مَلَكٌ مُّقَرَّبٌ وَّلَا نَبِیٌّ مُرْسَلٌ

LAA MALAKUM MOQARRABUNW WA LAA NABIYYUN MURSALUNW

be him a favorite angel, a missioned Prophet,

وَّلَا عَبْدٌ مُصْطَفًی

WA LAA A’BDUN MUSTAFAA

or a chosen servant.

وَاَسْئَلُكَ بِاسْمِكَ الَّذِیْ شَقَقْتَ بِهِ الْبِحَارَ

WA AS-ALOKA BISMEKAL LAZEE SHAQAQTA BEHIL BEHAARA

I beseech You in the name of Your Name by which You rent asunder the oceans,

وَقَامَتْ بِهِ الْجِبَالُ

WA QAAMAT BEHIL JEBAALO

the mountains rose,

وَاخْتَلَفَ بِهِ اللَّیْلُ وَالنَّهَارُ

WAKH TALABA BEHIL LAYLO WAN NAHAARO

and night and day follow each other,

وَبِحَقِّ السَّبْعِ الْمَثَانِیْ

WA BE-HAQQIS SAB-I’L MASAANEE

in the name of the seven of the oft-repeated verses

وَالْقُرْاٰنِ الْعَظِیْمِ

WAL QURAANIL A’ZEEME

and the Grand Qur'an,

وَبِحَقِّ الْكِرَامِ الْكَاتِبِیْنَ

WA BE-HAQQIL KERAAMIL KAATEBEENA

in the name of the noble, recording angels,

وَبِحَقِّ طٰهٰ وَيٰسٓ وَكٓهٰيٰعٓصٓ

WA BE-HAQQE TAAHAA WA YAASEEN WA KAAF-HAA-YAA-A’YN-SAAD

in the name of Ta-Ha, Ya-Sin, Kaf-Ha-Ya-Ayn-Sad,

وَحٰم عٓسٓقٓ وَبِحَقِّ تَوْرَیْۃِ مُوْسٰی

WA HAA-MEEM-A’YN-SEEN-QAAF WA BE-HAQQE TAWRAYTE MOOSAA

Ha-Mim-Ayn-Sin-Qaf, and in the name of the Torah of Moses,

وَاِنْجِیْلِ عِیْسٰی وَزَبُوْرِ دَاوٗدَ

WA INJEELE E’ESAA WA ZABOORE DA-WOODA

the Gospel of Jesus, the Psalms of David,

وَفُرْقَانِ مُحَمَّدٍ

WA FURQAANE MOHAMMADIN

the Furqan (Criterion) of Muhammad,

صَلَّی اللهُ عَلَیْهِ وَاٰلِہٖ

SALLAL LAAHO A’LAYHE WA AALEHI

peace be upon him, his Household,

وَعَلٰی جَمِیْعِ الرُّسُلِ وَبَاهِیَا شَرَاهِیَا

WA A’LAA JAMEE-I’R ROSOLE WA BAAHEYAA SHARAA-HEYAA

and all the messengers and baaheyaa sharaaheyaa

اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّیْ اَسْئَلُكَ بِحَقِّ تِلْكَ الْمُنَاجَاتِ

ALLAAHUMMA INNEE AS-ALOKA BE-HAQQE TILKAL MONAAJAATIL

O Allah, I beseech You in the name of this confidential talk

الَّتِیْ كَانَتْ بَیْنَكَ وَبَیْنَ مُوْسَی بْنِ عِمْرَانَ

LATEE KAANAT BAYNAKA WA BAYNA MOOSAB NE I’MRAANA

which took place between You and Moses, the son of Imran,

فَوْقَ جَبَلِ طُوْرِ سَیْنَاءَ

FAWQA JABALE TOORE SAYNAA-A

on the Mount Tur Sayna’,

وَاَسْئَلُكَ بِاسْمِكَ الَّذِی عَلَّمْتَہٗ مَلَكَ الْمَوْتِ

WA AS-ALOKA BISMEKAL LAZEE A’LLAMTAHU MALAKAL MAWTE

I beseech You in the name of Your Name which You taught the Angel of Death

لِقَبْضِ الْاَرْوَاحِ

LE-QABZIL ARWAAHE

so that he would be able to grasp the souls,

وَاَسْئَلُكَ بِاسْمِكَ الَّذِیْ كُتِبَ عَلٰی وَرَقِ الزَّیْتُوْنِ

WA AS-ALOKA BISMEKAL LAZEE KOTEBA A’LAA WARAQIZ ZAYTOONE

I beseech You in the name of Your Name which was written on the leaves of olive-trees;

فَخَضَعَتِ النِّیْرَانُ لِتِلْكَ الْوَرَقَۃِ

FA-KHAZA-A’TIN NEERAANO LE-TILKAL WARAQATE

so, fires subdued to these leaves

فَقُلْتَ یَا نَارُ كُوْنِیْ بَرْدًا وَّسَلَامًا

FA-QULTA YAA NAARO KOONEE BARDANW WA SALAAMAN

after You said, “O fire! Be a comfort and peace,”

وَاَسْئَلُكَ بِاسْمِكَ الَّذِیْ كَتَبْتَہٗ

WA AS-ALOKA BISMEKAL LAZEE KATABTAHU

and I beseech You in the name of Your Name that You wrote

عَلٰی سُرَادِقِ الْمَجْدِ وَالْكَرَامَۃِ

A’LAA SORAADEQIL MAJDE WAL KARAAMATE

on the canopies of Glory and Dignity.

یَا مَنْ لَا یُحْفِیْهِ سَآئِلٌ

YAA MAN LAA YOHFEEHE SAAA-ELUN

O He Who cannot be annoyed by any beseecher,

وَلَا یَنْقُصُہٗ نَآئِلٌ

WA LAA YANQOSOHU NAAA-ELUN

He Who cannot be influenced by any reward!

یَا مَنْ بِہٖ یُسْتَغَاثُ وَاِلَیْهِ یُلْجَاءُ

YAA MAN BEHI YUSTAGHAASO WA ELAYHE YULJAA-O

O He Whose refuge is taken and to Whom resort is made!

اَسْئَلُكَ بِمَعَاقِدِ الْعِزِّ مِنْ عَرْشِكَ

AS-ALOKA BE-MA-A’AQEDIL I’ZZE MIN A’RSHEKA

I beseech You in the name of the Seats of Honor belonging to Your Throne,

وَمُنْتَهَی الرَّحْمَۃِ مِنْ كِتَابِكَ

WA MUNTAHAR RAHMATE MIN KETAABEKA

the utmost of mercy in Your Book,

وَبِاسْمِكَ الْاَعْظَمِ وَجَدِّكَ الْاَعْلٰی

WA BISMEKAL A-A’ZAME WA JADDEKAL A-A’LAA

Your All-great Name, Your All-high majesty,

وَكَلِمَاتِكَ التَّامَّاتِ الْعُلٰی

WA KALEMAATEKAT TAAMMAATIL O’LAA

and Your most high, perfect Words.

اَللّٰهُمَّ رَبَّ الرِّیَاحِ وَمَا ذَرَتْ

ALLAAHUMMA RABBAR REYAAHE WA MAA ZARAT

O Allah, Lord of winds and whatever they scatter far,

وَالسَّمَآءِ وَمَا اَظَلَّتْ

WAS SAMAAA-E WA MAA AZALLAT

Lord of the sky and whatever it covers,

وَالْاَرْضِ وَمَا اَقَلَّتْ

WAL ARZE WA MAA AQALLAT

the Lord of the earth and whatever it carries,

وَالشَّیَاطِیْنِ وَمَا اَضَلَّتْ

WASH SHAYAATEENE WA MAA AZALLAT

the Lord of the devils and whomever they mislead,

وَالْبِحَارِ وَمَا جَرَتْ

WAL BEHAARE WA MAA JARAT

and the Lord of the oceans and wherever they flow.

وَبِحَقِّ كُلِّ حَقٍّ هُوَ عَلَیْكَ حَقٌّ

WA BE-HAQQE KULLE HAQQIN HOWA A’LAYKA HAQQUN

I beseech You in the name of everything that enjoys a right with You,

وَبِحَقِّ الْمَلٰٓئِكَۃِ الْمُقَرَّبِیْنَ

WA BE-HAQQE MALAA-EKATIL MOQARRABEENA

in the name of the favorite angels,

وَالرَّوْحَانِیِّیْنَ وَالْكَرُّوْبِیِّیْنَ

WAR RAWHAANIYYEENA WAL KARROOBIYYEENA

the angels managing the spirits, the cherubim,

وَالْمُسَبِّحِیْنَ لَكَ بِاللَّیْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ لَا یَفْتُرُوْنَ

WAL MOSABBEHEENA LAKA BIL-LAYLE WAN NAHAARE LAA YAFTOROONA

and the angels praising You night and day without showing sluggishness,

وَبِحَقِّ اِبْرَاهِیْمَ خَلِیْلِكَ

WA BEHAQQE IBRAAHEEMA KHALEELEKA

in the name of Abraham, Your intimate friend,

وَبِحَقِّ كُلِّ وَلِیٍّ یُّنَادِیْكَ بَیْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَۃِ

WA BE-HAQQE KULLE WALIYYIN YONAADEEKA BAYNAS SAFAA WAL MARWATE

and in the name of each and every saint who calls You between Safa and Marwah

وَتَسْتَجِیْبُ لَہٗ دُعَآئَہٗ یَا مُجِیْبُ

WA TASTAJEEBO LAHU DO-A’AA-AHU YAA MOJEEBO

And You grant him his prayer, O Granter of prayers.

اَسْئَلُكَ بِحَقِّ هٰذِهِ الْاَسْمَآءِ

AS-ALOKA BE-HAQQE HAAZEHIL ASMAAA-E

I beseech You in the name of all these names

وَبِهٰذِهِ الدَّعْوَاتِ

WA BE-HAAZEHID DA’WAATE

and all these prayers

اَنْ تَغْفِرَ لَنَا مَا قَدَّمْنَا وَمَا اَخَّرْنَا

AN TAGHFERA LANAA MAA QADDAMNAA WA MAA AKHKHARNAA

to forgive us all our past and coming sins,

وَمَا اَسْرَرْنَا وَمَا اَعْلَنَّا

WA MAA ASRARNAA WA MAA A-A’LANNAA

including the secret and the open,

وَمَا اَبْدَیْنَا وَمَا اَخْفَیْنَا

WA MAA ABDAYNAA WA MAA AKHFAYNAA

the hidden and the public,

وَمَا اَنْتَ اَعْلَمُ بِہٖ مِنَّا

WA MAA ANTA A-A’LAMO BEHI MINNAA

and those whom You know better than we do.

اِنَّكَ عَلٰی كُلِّ شَیْءٍ قَدِیْرٌ

INNAKA A’LAA KULLE SHAY-IN QADEERUN

Verily, You have power over all things.

بِرَحْمَتِكَ یَا اَرْحَمْ الرَّاحِمِیْنَ

BE-RAHMATEKA YAA ARHAMAR RAAHEMEENA

In the name of Your mercy, O most Merciful of all those who show mercy.

یَا حَافِظَ كُلِّ غَرِیْبٍ یَا مُوْنِسَ كُلِّ وَحِیْدٍ

YAA HAAFEZA KULLE GHAREEBIN YAA MOONESA KULLE WAHEEDIN

O He Who guards all strangers! O He Who brings entertainment to all lonely ones!

یَا قُوَّۃَ كُلِّ ضَعِیْفٍ یَا نَاصِرَ كُلِّ مَظْلُوْمٍ

YAA QUWWATA KULLE ZA-E’EFIN YAA NAASERA KULLE MAZLOOMIN

O He Who is the power of all the weak! O He Who is the support of all the persecuted!

یَا رَازِقَ كُلِّ مَحْرُوْمٍ یَا مُوْنِسَ كُلِّ مُسْتَوْحِشٍ

YAA RAAZEQA KULLE MAHROOMIN YAA MOONESA KULLE MUSTAWHESHIN

O He Who bestows upon all the deprived! O He Who brings entertainment to all the lonesome!

یَا صَاحِبَ كُلِّ مُسَافِرٍ یَا عِمَادَ كُلِّ حَاضِرٍ

YAA SAAHEBA KULLE MOSAAFERIN YAA E’MAADA KULLE HAAZERIN

O He Who is the company of all those on journeys! O He Who is the pillar of all the present!

یَا غَافِرَ كُلِّ ذَنْبٍ وَّخَطِیْئَۃٍ

YAA GHAAFERA KULLE ZANBINW WA KHATEE-ATIN

O He Who forgives all sins and offenses!

یَا غِیَاثَ الْمُسْتَغِیْثِیْنَ

YAA GHEYAASAL MUSTAGHEESEENA

O He Who is the aid of all those begging aid!

یَا صَرِیْخَ الْمُسْتَصْرِخِیْنَ

YAA SAREEKAHL MUSTASREKHEENA

O He Who is the relief of all those pleading for relief!

یَا كَاشِفَ كَرْبِ الْمَکْرُوْبِیْنَ

YAA KAASHEFA KARBIL MAKROOBEENA

O He Who relieves the calamity of those inflicted with calamities!

یَا فَارِجَ هَمِّ الْمَهْمُوْمِیْنَ

YAA FAAREJA HAMMIL MAHMOOMEENA

O He Who alleviate the distress of the distressed ones!

یَا بَدِیْعَ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرَضِیْنَ

YAA BADEE-A’S SAMAAWAATE WAL ARAZEENA

O He Who is the Originator of the heavens and the layers of the earth!

یَا مُنْتَهٰی غَایَۃِ الطَّالِبِیْنَ

YAA MUNTAHAA GHAAYATIT TAALEBEENA

O He Who is the utmost hope of the seekers!

یَا مُجِیْبَ دَعْوَۃِ الْمُضْطَرِّیْنَ

YAA MOJEEBA DA’WATIL MUZ-TARREENA

O He Who responds to the prayers of the troubled!

یَا اَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِیْنَ

YAA ARHAMAR RAAHEMEEN

O He Who is the most Merciful of all those who show mercy!

یَا رَبَّ الْعَالَمِیْنَ

YAA RABBAL A’ALAMEENA

O Lord of the worlds!

یَا دَیَّانَ یَوْمِ الدِّیْنِ

YAA DAYYAANA YAWMID DEENE

O Master of the Judgment Day!

یَا اَجْوَدَ الْاَجْوَدِیْنَ

YAA AJWADAL AJWADEENA

O most Magnanimous of all those who act magnanimously!

یَا اَکْرَمَ الْاَکْرَمِیْنَ

YAA AKRAMAL AKRAMEENA

O most Generous of all those who act generously!

یَا اَسْمَعَ السَّامِعِیْنَ

YAA ASMA-A’S SAAME-E’ENA

O most Hearing of all those who can hear!

یَا اَبْصَرَ النَّاظِرِیْنَ

YAA ABSARAN NAAZEREENA

O most Seeing of all those who can see!

یَا اَقْدَرَ الْقَادِرِیْنَ

YAA AQDARAL QAADEREEN

O most Powerful of all those who have power!

اغْفِرْ لِیَ الذُّنُوْبَ الَّتِیْ تُغَیِّرُ النِّعَمَ

IGHFIR LEYAZ ZONOOBAL LATEE TOGHAYYERUN NE-A’MA

forgive my sins that change the bounties

وَاغْفِرْ لِیَ الذُّنُوْبَ الَّتِیْ تُوْرِثُ النَّدَمَ

WAGH FIR LEYAZ ZONOOBAL LATEE TOORESUN NADAMA

And forgive me my sins that bring about remorse,

وَاغْفِرْ لِیَ الذُّنُوْبَ الَّتِیْ تُوْرِثُ السَّقَمَ

WAGH FIR LEYAZ ZONOOBAL LATEE TOORESUS SAQAMA

forgive me my sins that result in ailment,

وَاغْفِرْ لِیَ الذُّنُوْبَ الَّتِیْ تَهْتِكُ الْعِصَمَ

WAGH FIR LEYAZ ZONOOBAL LATEE TAHTEKUL E’SAMA

forgive me my sins that tear safeguards,

وَاغْفِرْ لِیَ الذُّنُوْبَ الَّتِیْ تَرُدُّ الدُّعَآءَ

WAGH FIR LEYAZ ZONOOBAL LATEE TARUDDUD DO-A’AA-A

forgive me my sins that repel prayers,

وَاغْفِرْ لِیَ الذُّنُوْبَ الَّتِیْ تَحْبِسُ قَطْرَ السَّمَآءِ

WAGH FIR LEYAZ ZONOOBAL LATEE TAHBESO QATRIS SAMAAA-E

forgive me my sins that withhold the drops of the sky,

وَاغْفِرْ لِیَ الذُّنُوْبَ الَّتِیْ تُعَجِّلُ الْفَنَآءَ

WAGH FIR LEYAZ ZONOOBAL LATEE TO-A’JJELUL FANAAA-A

forgive me my sins that hasten extinction,

وَاغْفِرْ لِیَ الذُّنُوْبَ الَّتِیْ تَجْلِبُ الشَّقَآءَ

WAGH FIR LEYAZ ZONOOBAL LATEE TAJLEBUSH SHAQAAA-A

forgive me my sins that beget misery,

وَاغْفِرْ لِیَ الذُّنُوْبَ الَّتِیْ تُظْلِمُ الْهَوَآءَ

WAGH FIR LEYAZ ZONOOBAL LATEE TUZLEMUL HAWAAA-A

forgive me my sins that darken the atmospheres,

وَاغْفِرْ لِیَ الذُّنُوْبَ الَّتِیْ تَکْشِفُ الْغِطَآءَ

WAGH FIR LEYAZ ZONOOBAL LATEE TAKSHEFUL GHETAAA-A

forgive me my sins that disclose the coverings,

وَاغْفِرْ لِیَ الذُّنُوْبَ الَّتِیْ لَا یَغْفِرُهَا غَیْرُكَ یَا اَللهُ

WAGH FIR LEYAZ ZONOOBAL LATEE LAA YAGHFEROHAA GHAYROKA YAA ALLAAHO

forgive me my sins that none can forgive save You, O Allah,

وَاحْمِلْ عَنِّیْ كُلَّ تَبِعَۃٍ لِّاَحَدٍ مِّنْ خَلْقِكَ

WAH MIL A’NNEE KULLA TABE-A’TIL LE-AHADIM MIN KHALQEKA

bear from me every offensive that I have made against any of Your creatures,

وَاجْعَلْ لِیْ مِنْ اَمْرِیْ فَرَجًا وَمَخْرَجًا

WAJ A’L LEE MIN AMREE FARAJAN WA MAKHRAJANW

make all my affairs reach at relief, exit, and easiness,

وَّیُسْرًا وَاَنْزِلْ یَقِیْنَكَ فِیْ صَدْرِیْ

WA YUSRAN WA ANZIL YAQEENAKA FEE SADREE

make Your tranquility ascend on my chest,

وَرَجَآئَكَ فِیْ قَلْبِیْ حَتّٰی لَا اَرْجُوْ غَیْرَكَ

WA RAJAAA-AKA FEE QALBEE HATTAA LAA ARJOWA GHAYRAKA

and make hope in You ascend on my heart so that I shall never hope for anyone save You.

اَللّٰهُمَّ احْفَظْنِیْ وَعَافِنِیْ فِیْ مَقَامِیْ

ALLAAHUMMAH FAZNEE WA A’AFENEE FEE MAQAAMEE

O Allah, safeguard me, heal me in all my situations,

وَاصْحَبْنِیْ فِیْ لَیْلِیْ وَنَهَارِیْ

WAS HABNEE FEE LAYLEE WA NAHAAREE

be my companion at nights and days,

وَمِنْۢ بَیْنِ یَدَیَّ وَمِنْ خَلْفِیْ

WA MIM BAYNE YADAYYA WA MIN KHALFEE

be ahead of me, behind me,

وَعَنْ یَمِیْنِیْ وَعَنْ شِمَالِیْ

WA A’N YAMEENEE WA A’N SHEMAALEE

from my right side, from my left side,

وَمِنْ فَوْقِیْ وَمِنْ تَحْتِیْ

WA MIN FAWQEE WA MIN TAHTEE

from above me, and from beneath me,

وَیَسِّرْ لِیَ السَّبِیْلَ وَاَحْسِنْ لِیَ التَّیْسِیْرَ

WA YASSIR LEYASSABEELA WA AHSIN LEYAT TAYSEERA

make easy all the ways for me, make excellent facilitation for me,

وَلَا تَخْذُلْنِیْ فِیْ الْعَسِیْرِ

WA LAA TAKHZULNEE FIL A’SEERE

do not disappoint me in hardships,

وَاهْدِ نِیْ یَا خَیْرَ دَلِیْلٍ

WAH DENEE YAA KHAYRA DALEELIN

guide me, O Best of all guides,

وَلَا تَكِلْنِیْ اِلٰی نَفْسِیْ فِی الْاُمُوْرِ

WA LAA TAKILNEE ELAA NAFSEE FIL OMOORE

do not leave me alone in all my affairs,

وَلَقِّنِیْ كُلَّ سُرُوْرٍ

WA LAQQENEE KULLA SOROORIN

make me receive all pleasures,

وَاقْلِبْنِیْ اِلٰی اَهْلِیْ بِالْفَلَاحِ وَالنَّجَاحِ

WAQ LIBNEE ELAA AHLEE BIL-FALAAHE WAN NAJAAHE

and make me return to my family with prosperity, success,

مَحْبُوْرًا فِی الْعَاجِلِ وَالْاٰجِلِ

MAHBOORAN FIL A’AJELE WA AAJELE

and gladness in the present and in the future.

اِنَّكَ عَلٰی كُلِّ شَیْءٍ قَدِیْرٌ

INNAKA A’LAA KULLE SHAY-IN QADEERUN

Verily, You have power over all things.

وَارْزُقْنِیْ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ

WAR ZUQNEE MIN FAZLEKA

bestow upon me with Your favors,

وَاَوْسِعْ عَلَیَّ مِنْ طَیِّبَاتِ رِزْقِكَ

WA AWSE’ A’LAYYA MIN TAYYEBAATE RIZQEKA

expand for me the most favorable of Your sustenance,

وَاسْتَعْمِلْنِیْ فِیْ طَاعَتِكَ

WAS TA’MILNEE FEE TAA-A’TEKA

apply me to the obedience to You,

وَاَجِرْنِیْ مِنْ عَذَابِكَ وَنَارِكَ

WA AJIRNEE MIN A’ZAABEKA WA NAAREKA

redeem me from Your chastisement and Fire,

وَاقْلِبْنِیْ اِذَا تَوَفَّیْتَنِیْ اِلٰی جَنَّتِكَ بِرَحْمَتِكَ

WAQ LIBNEE EZAA TAWAFFAYTANEE ELAA JANNATEKA BE-RAHMATEKA

and when You grasp my soul, lead me to Your Paradise, by Your mercy.

اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّیْ اَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنْ زَوَالِ نِعْمَتِكَ

ALLAAHUMMA INNEE A-O’OZO BEKA MIN ZAWAALE NE’MATEKA

O Allah, I seek Your protection against confiscation of Your graces,

وَمِنْ تَحْوِیْلِ عَافِیَتِكَ

WA MIN TAHWEELE A’AFEYATEKA

against alternation of Your conferral of wellbeing on me,

وَمِنْ حُلُوْلِ نَقِمَتِكَ

WA MIN HOLOOLE NA-QEMATEKA

against the befalling of Your punishment,

وَمِنْ نُزُوْلِ عَذَابِكَ

WA MIN NOZOOLE A’ZAABEKA

and against the ensuing of Your chastisement.

وَاَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنْ جَهْدِ الْبَلَآءِ

WA A-O’OZO BEKA MIN JAHDIL BALAAA-E

I seek Your protection against arduous hardships,

وَدَرَكِ الشَّقَآءِ

WA DARAKISH SHAQAAA-E

against coming about of misery,

وَمِنْ سُوْٓءِ الْقَضَآءِ

WA MIN SOOO-IL QAZAAA-E

against evil end results,

وَشَمَاتَۃِ الْاَعْدَآءِ

WA SHAMAATATIL A-A’DAAA-E

against my enemies’ gloating over my grief,

وَمِنْ شَرِّ مَا یَنْزِلُ مِنَ السَّمَآءِ

WA MIN SHARRE MAA YANZELO MENAS SAMAAA-E

against the evil of everything that ascends from the heavens,

وَمِنْ شَرِّ مَا فِیْ الْكِتَابِ الْمُنْزَلِ

WA MIN SHARRE MAA FIL KETAABIL MUNZALE

and against the evils mentioned in the Revealed Book.

اَللّٰهُمَّ لَا تَجْعَلْنِیْ مِنَ الْاَشْرَارِ

ALLAAHUMMA LAA TAJ-A’LNEE MENAL ASHRAARE

O Allah, do not include me with the evil ones,

وَلَا مِنْ اَصْحَابِ النَّارِ

WA LAA MIN ASHAABIN NAARE

do not include me with the people of Hellfire,

وَلَا تَحْرِمْنِیْ صُحْبَۃَ الْاَخْیَارِ

WA LAA TAHRIMNEE SOHBATAL AKHYAARE

do not deprive me of the companionship of the upright people,

وَاَحْیِنِیْ حَیٰوۃً طَیِّبَۃً

WA AHYENEE HAYAATAN TAYYEBATAN

grant me a pleasant lifetime,

وَتَوَفَّنِیْ وَفَاۃً طَیِّبَۃً

WA TAWAFFANEE WAFAATAN TAYYEBATAN

decide for me a kind of death

تُلْحِقُنِیْ بِالْاَبْرَارِ

TULHEQONEE BIL-ABRAARE

due to which You will join me to the Pious Ones,

وَارْزُقْنِیْ مُرَافَقَۃَ الْاَنْبِیَآءِ

WAR ZUQNEE MORAAFAQATAL AMBEYAAA-E

and confer upon me with the companionship of the Prophets

فِیْ مَقْعَدِ صِدْقٍ عِنْدَ مَلِیْكٍ مُقْتَدِرٍ

FEE MAQ-A’DE SIDQIN I’NDA MALEEKIN MUQTADERIN

in the seat of honesty with the All-powerful King.

اَللّٰهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَلٰی حُسْنِ بَلَآئِكَ

ALLAAHUMMA LAKAL HAMDO A’LAA HUSNE BALAAA-EKA

O Allah, all praise be to You for Your pleasant trials and deeds to us.

وَصُنْعِكَ وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَلَی الْاِسْلَامِ

WA SUN-E’KA WA LAKAL HAMDO A’LAL ISLAAME

All praise be to You for my being Muslim

وَاتِّبَاعِ السُّنَّۃِ

WAT TE-BAA-I’S SUNNATE

and for my following the Prophet’s traditions.

یَا رَبِّ كَمَا هَدَیْتَهُمْ لِدِیْنِكَ

YAA RABBE KAMAA HADAYTAHUM LE-DEENEKA

O my Lord, as You have guided them (i.e. the pious)

وَعَلَّمْتَهُمْ كِتَابَكَ فَاهْدِنَا وَعَلِّمْنَا

WA A’LLAMTAHUM KETAABAKA FAHDENAA WA A’LLIMNAA

and taught them Your Book, (please) guide us and teach us.

وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَلٰی حُسْنِ بَلَآئِكَ

WA LAKAL HAMDO A’LAA HUSNE BALAAA-EKA

All praise be to You for Your pleasant trials

وَصُنْعِكَ عِنْدِیْ خَاصَّۃً كَمَا خَلَقْتَنِیْ فَاَحْسَنْتَ خَلْقِیْ

WA SUN-E’KA I’NDEE KHAASSATAN KAMAA KHALAQTANEE FA-AHSANTA KHALQEE

and deeds to me in private, as You created me, gifted me an excellent form,

وَعَلَّمْتَنِیْ فَاَحْسَنْتَ تَعْلِیْمِیْ

WA A’LLAMTANEE FA-AHSANTA TA’LEEMEE

taught me, gifted me excellent erudition,

وَهَدَیْتَنِیْ فَاَحْسَنْتَ هِدَایَتِیْ

WA HADAYTANEE FA-AHSANTA HEDAAYATEE

guided me, and gifted me excellent guidance.

فَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَلٰی اِنْعَامِكَ عَلَیَّ

FALAKAL HAMDO A’LAA IN-A’AMEKA A’LAYYA

So, all praise be to You for Your favors that You conferred upon me

قَدِیْمًا وَّحَدِیْثًا

QADEEMANW WA HADEESAN

in the past and in the present.

فَكَمْ مِنْ كَرْبٍ یَا سَیِّدِیْ قَدْ فَرَّجْتَہٗ

FAKAM MIN KARBIN YAA SAYYEDEE QAD FARRJATAHU

Too many are the agonies that You, my Master, relieved.

وَكَمْ مِنْ غَمٍّ یَا سَیِّدِیْ قَدْ نَفَّسْتَہٗ

WA KAM MIN GHAMMIN YAA SAYYEDEE QAD NAFFASTAHU

Too many are the distresses that You, my Master, eased.

وَكَمْ مِنْ هَمٍّ یَا سَیِّدِیْ قَدْ كَشَفْتَہٗ

WA KAM MIN HAMMIN YAA SAYYEDEE QAD KASHAFTAHU

Too many are the sufferings that You, my Master, alleviated.

وَكَمْ مِّنْ بَلَآءٍ یَا سَیِّدِیْ قَدْ صَرَفْتَہٗ

WA KAM MIN BALAAA-IN YAA SAYYEDEE QAD SARAFTAHU

Too many are the hardships from which You, my Master, saved me.

وَكَمْ مِنْ عَیْبٍ یَا سَیِّدِیْ قَدْ سَتَرْتَہٗ

WA KAM MAN A’YBIN YAA SAYYEDEE QAD SATARTAHU

Too many are the defects that You, my Master, covered.

فَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَلٰی كُلِّ حَالٍ

FALAKAL HAMDO A’LAA KULLE HAALIN

So, all praise be to You for all conditions,

فِیْ كُلِّ مَثْوًی وَّزَمَانٍ

FEE KULLE MASWANW WA ZAMAANIN

in every place and time,

وَمُنْقَلَبٍ وَّمَقَامٍ

WA MUNQALABINW WA MAQAAMIN

every circumstance and situation,

وَعَلٰی هٰذِهِ الْحَالِ وَكُلِّ حَالٍ

WA A’LAA HAAZEHIL HAALE WA KULLE HAALIN

and for the current condition and all conditions.

اَللّٰهُمَّ اجْعَلْنِیْ مِنْ اَفْضَلِ عِبَادِكَ

ALLAAHUMMAJ A’LNEE MIN AFZALE E’BAADEKA

O Allah, shower upon me the best share of every good thing

نَصِیْبًا فِیْ هٰذَ الْیَوْمِ مِنْ خَیْرٍ تَقْسِمُہٗ

NASEEBAN FEE HAAZAL YAWME MIN KAHYRIN TAQSEMOHU

that You decide for Your servants on this day,

اَوْ ضُرٍّ تَکْشِفُہٗ اَوْ سُوْءٍ تَصْرِفُہٗ

AW ZURRIN TAKSHEFOHU AW SOO-IN TASREFOHU

such as harm that You decide to hold off, evil that You decide to ward off,

اَوْ بَلَآءٍ تَدْفَعُہٗ اَوْ خَیْرٍ تَسُوْقُہٗ

AW BALAA-IN TAD-FA-O’HU AW KHAYRIN TASOOQOHU

ordeal that You decide to deter, grace that You decide to grant,

اَوْ رَحْمَۃٍ تَنْشُرُهَا اَوْ عَافِیَۃٍ تُلْبِسُهَا

AW RAHMATIN TANSHOROHAA AW A’AFEYATIN TULBESOHAA

item of mercy that You decide to distribute, and item of wellbeing that You decide to cover up (on one of Your servants),

فَاِنَّكَ عَلٰی كُلِّ شَیْءٍ قَدِیْرٌ

FA-INNAKA A’LAA KULLE SHAY-IN QADEERUN

for You verily have power over all things,

وَبِیَدِكَ خَزَآئِنُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِ

WA BE-YADEKA KHAZAAA-ENUS SAMAAWAATE WAL ARZE

in Your hands lie the hoards of the heavens and the earth,

وَاَنْتَ الْوَاحِدُ الْكَرِیْمُ الْمُعْطِی

WA ANTAL WAAHEDUL KAREEMUL MO’TIL

You are verily the One, the All-generous, and the Best Bestower,

الَّذِیْ لَا یُرَدُّ سَائِلُہٗ

LAZEE LAA YORADDO SAA-ELOHU

You are the One Whose beseechers are not rejected,

وَلَا یُخَیَّبُ اٰمِلُہٗ

WA YAA YOKHAYYABO AAMELOHU

and You are the One Who never disappoint those who put hope in Him,

وَلَا یَنْقُصُ نَائِلُہٗ

WA LAA YANQOSO NAA-ELOHU

the One Who is never influenced by the rewards that He bestows upon anyone,

وَلَا یَنْفَدُ مَا عِنْدَہٗ

WA LAA YANFADO MAA I’NDAHU

and the One Whose possessions never run out;

بَلْ یَزْدَادُ كَثْرَۃً وَّطَیِّبًا

BAL YAZDAADO KASRATANW WA TAYYEBANW

rather, You always increase in quantity, excellent gift,

وَّعَطَآءً وَّجُوْدًا

WA A’ATAAA-ANW WA JOODAN

conferrals, and magnanimity.

وَارْزُقْنِیْ مِنْ خَزَآئِنِكَ الَّتِیْ لَا تَفْنٰی

WAR ZUQNEE MIN KHAZAAA-ENEKAL LATEE LAA TAFNAA

bestow upon me from Your hoards that never come to an end

وَمِنْ رَحْمَتِكَ الْوَاسِعَۃِ

WA MIN RAHMATEKAL WAA-SE-A’TE

and from Your expansive mercy.

اِنَّ عَطَآئَكَ لَمْ یَكُنْ مَّحْظُوْرًا

INNA A’TAAA-AKA LAM YAKUM MAHZOORAN

Your conferral shall never be confined

وَاَنْتَ عَلٰی كُلِّ شَیْءٍ قَدٍیْرٌ

WA ANTA A’LAA KULLE SHAY-IN QADEERUN

and You have power over all things;

بِرَحْمَتِكَ یَا اَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِیْنَ.

BE-RAHMATEKA YAA ARHAMAR RAAHEMEEN.

in the name of Your mercy; O most Merciful of all those who show mercy.

اَللّٰهُمَّ مَنْ تَعَبَّاَ وَتَهَيَّاَ

It is recommended to say the supplication, dedicated to the ‘Arafat Day and the Friday nights and days, which is as follows:

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ.

BISMIL LAAHIR RAHAAMANIR RAHEEM.

In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.

اَللّٰهُمَّ مَنْ تَعَبَّاَ وَتَهَيَّاَ

ALLAAHUMMA MAN TA-A’BBA-A WA TAHAYYA-A

O Allah, One may call up, prepare,

وَاَعَدَّ وَاسْتَعَدَّ

WA A-A’DDA WAS TA-A’DDA

ready oneself, and stand prepared

لِوِفَادَةٍ اِلٰى مَخْلُوْقٍ

LE-WEFAADATIN ELAA MAKHLOOQIN

for purpose of coming to a creature

رَجَآءَ رِفْدِهٖ

RAJAAA-A RIFDEHI

in the hope of gaining his aid

وَطَلَبَ نَائِلِهٖ وَجَائِزَتِهٖ

WA TALABA NAA-ELEHI WA JAA-EZATEHI

and asking for his gift and present.

فَاِلَيْكَ يَا رَبِّ تَعْبِيَتِيْ وَاسْتِعْدَادِيْ

FA-ELAYKA YAA RABBE TA’BEYATEE WAS TEA’DAADEE

As for myself, to You—O my Lord—I make my preparations and readiness

رَجَاءَ عَفْوِكَ

RAJAAA-A A’FWEKA

hoping for Your pardon

وَطَلَبَ نَائِلِكَ وَجَائِزَتِكَ

WA TALABA NAA-ELEKA WA JAAA-EZATEKA

and asking for Your gift and present.

فَلَا تُخَيِّبْ دُعَائِيْ

FALAA TOKHAYYIB DO-A’AA-EE

So, do not disappoint my entreaty.

يَا مَنْ لَا يَخِيْبُ عَلَيْهِ سَائِلٌ

YAA MAN LAA YAKHEEBO A’LAYHE SAAA-ELUN

O He Who never disappoints His beseechers

وَلَا يَنْقُصُهٗ نَائِلٌ

WA LAA YANQOSOHU NAAA-ELUN

and Whose prizes never decrease His ample-giving!

فَاِنِّيْ لَمْ آتِكَ ثِقَةً بِعَمَلٍ صَالِحٍ عَمِلْتُهٗ

FA-INNEE LAM AATEKA SEQATAN BE-A’MALIN SAALEHIN A’MILTOHU

I have not come to You with confidence of a righteous deed that I have done

وَلَا لِوِفَادَةِ مَخْلُوْقٍ رَجَوْتُهٗ

WA LAA LE-WEFAADATE MAKHLOOQIN RAJAWTOHU

nor have I had any hope in a grant of any creature.

اَتَيْتُكَ مُقِرًّا عَلٰى نَفْسِيْ بِالْاِسَائَةِ وَالظُّلْمِ

ATAYTOKA MOQIRRAN A’LAA NAFSEE BIL-ESAAA-ATE WAZ ZULME

Rather, I have come to You professing myself to be evildoer and transgressor

مُعْتَرِفُا بِاَنْ لَا حُجَّةَ لِيْ وَلَا عُذْرَ

MO’TAREFAN BE-AN LAA HUJJATA LEE WA LAA U’ZRA

and confessing that I lack any pretext or excuse.

اَتَيْتُكَ اَرْجُوْ عَظِيْمَ عَفْوِكَ

ATAYTOKA ARJOO A’ZEEMA A’FWEKAL

I have come to You hoping for Your great pardon

الَّذِيْ عَفَوْتَ بِهٖ عَنِ الْخَاطِئِيْنَ

LAZEE A’FAWTA BEHI A’NIL KHAATE-EENA

due to which You have pardoned the wrongdoers.

فَلَمْ يَمْنَعْكَ طُوْلُ عُكُوْفِهِمْ عَلٰي عَظِيْمِ الْجُرْمِ

FALAM YAMNA’KA TOOLO O’KOOFEHIM A’LAA A’ZEEMIL JURME

Hence, their long-lasting retirement to their grave offenses has not prevented You

اَنْ عُدْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ بِالرَّحْمَةِ

AN U’DTA A’LAYHIM BIR-RAHMATE

from turning to them with mercy.

فَيَا مَنْ رَحْمَتُهٗ وَاسِعَةٌ

FAYAA MAN RAHMATOHU WAASE-A’TUN

O He Whose mercy is huge

وَعَفْوُهٗ عَظيْمٌ

WA A’FWOHU A’ZEEMUN

and Whose pardon is great;

يَا عَظِيْمُ يَا عَظِيْمُ يَا عَظِيْمُ

YAA A’ZEEMO YAA A’ZEEMO YAA A’ZEEMO

O All-great, O All-great, O All-great;

لَا يَرُدُّ غَضَبَكَ اِلَّا حِلْمُكَ

LAA YARUDDO GHAZABAKA ILLAA HILMOKA

nothing can repel Your rage except Your forbearance

وَلَا يُنْجِيْ مِنْ سَخَطِكَ اِلَّا التَّضَرُّعُ اِلَيْكَ

WA LAA YUNJEE MIN SAKHATEKA ILLAAT TAZARRO-O’ ELAYKA

and nothing can save from Your wrath except imploring earnestly to You.

فَهَبْ لِيْ يَا اِلٰهِيْ فَرَجًا

FAHAB LEE YAA ELAAHI FARAJAN

So, my God, grant me a relief

بِالْقُدْرَةِ الَّتِيْ تُحْيِيْ بِهَا مَيْتَ الْبِلَادِ

BIL-QUDRATIL LATEE TOHYEE BEHAA MAYTAL BELAADE

in the name of the power through which You restore to life the derelict lands,

وَلَا تُهْلِكْنِيْ غَمًّا حَتّٰى تَسْتَجِيْبَ لِيْ

WA LAA TOHLIKNEE GHAMMAN HATTAA TASTAJEEBA LEE

and do not cause me to perish out of grief until You respond to me

وَتُعَرِّفَنِيْ الْاِجَابَةَ فِيْ دُعَائِيْ

WA TO-A’RREFANIL EJAABATA FEE DO-A’AA-EE

and show me signs of Your response to my prayers.

وَاَذِقْنِيْ طَعْمَ الْعَافِيَةِ اِلٰى مُنَتَهٰى اَجَلِيْ

WA AZIQNEE TA’MAL A’AFEYATE ELAA MUNTAHAA AJALEE

Make me taste the flavor of wellbeing up to the end of my lifetime,

وَلَا تُشْمِتْ بِيْ عَدُوِّيْ

WA LAA TUSHMIT BEE A’DUWWEE

do not make my enemies gloat over me,

وَلَا تُسَلِّطْهُ عَلَيَّ

WA LAA TOSALLITHO A’LAYYA

do not give them a hand over me,

وَلَا تُمَكِّنْهُ مِنْ عُنُقِيْ

WA LAA TOMAKKINHO MIN O’NOQEE

and do not make them control over me.

اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنْ وَضَعْتَنِيْ فَمَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يَرْفَعُنِيْ

ALLAAHUMMA IN WAZA’TANEE FAMAN ZAL LAZEE YARFA-O’NEE

O Allah, If You humiliate me, who can then exalt me?

وَاِنْ رَفَعْتَنِيْ فَمَنْ ذَا الَّذِيْ يَضَعُنِيْ

WA IN RAFA’TANEE FAMAN ZAL LAZEE YAZA-O’NEE

And if You exalt me, who can then humiliate me?

وَاِنْ اَهْلَكْتَنِيْ فَمَنْ ذَا الَّذِيْ يَعْرِضُ لَكَ فِي عَبْدِكَ

WA IN AHLAKTANEE FAMAN ZAL LAZEE YA’REZO LAKA FEE A’BDEKA

If You annihilate me, who can then interfere before You concerning the affair of me—Your slave

اَوْ يَسْاَلُكَ عَنْ اَمْرِهٖ

AW YAS-ALOKA A’N AMREHI

or who can intercede to ask You about it?

وَقَدْ عَلِمْتُ اَنَّهٗ لَيْسَ فِي حُكْمِكَ ظُلْمٌ

WA QAD A’LIMTO ANNAHU LAYSA FEE HUKMEKA ZULMUN

I have already known for sure that Your decrees are devoid of injustice

وَلَا فِيْ نَقِمَتِكَ عَجَلَةٌ

WA LAA FEE NAQEMATEKA A’JALATUN

and Your punishment does not count on immediateness.

وَاِنَّمَا يَعْجَلُ مَنْ يَخَافُ الْفَوْتَ

WA INNAMA YA’JELO MAN YAKHAAFUL FAWTA

Verily, immediateness is the work of him who fears lest he may miss,

وَاِنَّمَا يَحْتَاجُ اِلَى الظُّلْمِ الضَّعِيْفُ

WA INNAMAA YAHTAJO ELAZ ZULMIZ ZA-E’EFO

and only do the weak need injustice.

وَقَدْ تَعَالَيْتَ يَا اِلٰهِيْ عَنْ ذٰلِكَ عُلُوًّا كَبِيْرًا

WA QAD TA-A’ALAYTA YAA ELAAHI A’N ZAALEKA O’LUWWAN KABEERAN

As for You, O my God, You are too exalted to be so—Exalted and Great You are beyond all measure!

اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّيْ اَعُوْذُ بِكَ فَاَعِذْنِيْ

ALLAAHUMMA INNEE A-O’OZO BEKA FA-A-I’ZNEE

O Allah, I take refuge in You; so, have protection upon me!

وَاَسْتَجِيْرُ بِكَ فَاَجِرْنِيْ

WA ASTAJEERO BEKA FA-AJIRNEE

I call for Your safekeeping; so, keep me under Your security!

وَاَسْتَرْزِقُكَ فَارْزُقْنِيْ

WA ASTARZEQOKA FARZUQNEE

I appeal for Your sustenance; so, provide me with sustenance!

وَاَتَوَكَّلُ عَلَيْكَ فَاكْفِنِيْ

WA ATAWAKKALO A’LAYKA FAK-FENEE

I put trust in You; so, keep me under Your supervision!

وَاَسْتَنْصِرُكَ عَلٰى عَدُوِّيْ فَانْصُرْنِيْ

WA ASTANSEROKA A’LAA A’DUWWEE FANSURNEE

I call for Your aid against my enemy; so, grant me support!

وَاَسْتَعِيْنُ بِكَ فَاَعِنِّيْ

WA ASTA-E’ENO BEKA FA-A-I’NNEE

I seek Your assistance; so, assist me!

وَاَسْتَغْفِرُكَ يَا اِلٰهِيْ فَاغْفِرْ لِيْ

WA ASTAGHFEROKA YAA ELAAHI FAGH-FIR LEE

I ask for Your forgiveness; so, forgive me.

آمِيْنَ آمِيْنَ آمِيْنَ.

AAMEENA AAMEENA AAMEENA.

So, respond! Respond! Respond!

More Aamaal

1. It is recommended to repeat one thousand times the Ten Statements of Glorification (Tasbihat), which will be cited within the devotional rites of the ‘Arafat Day.

2. It is highly recommended to visit the holy tomb of Imam Husayn (a.s.) at the land of Karbala and to reside there up to the ‘Id al-Azha Day (the tenth of Zilhajj) so that Almighty Allah will save from all evils of that year.
