Surah al-Insheqaaq (The Bursting Asunder)
This Surah has 25 verses and it was revealed in Makkah. The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) has said that the one who recites this Surah will not get his book of deeds from his back on the Day of Reckoning.
If written and worn by a pregnant woman, the delivery of the baby becomes easy. However, it is important that after delivery, this Surah should be kept away from her. If this Surah is tied on any animal (eg. camels or horses) then it keeps them safe.
Text and Translation
BISMIL LAAHIR RAHMAANIR RAHEEM
In the Name of Allah, the All-merciful, the All-compassionate
EZAS SAMAAA-UN SHAQQAT.
When the sky is rent asunder,
WA AZENAT LE-RABBEHAA WA HUQQAT.
And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);-
WA EZAL ARZO MUDDAT.
And when the earth is flattened out,
WA ALQAT MAA FEEHAA WA TAKHALLAT.
And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty,
WA AZENAT LE-RABBEHA WA HUQQAT.
And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality).
YAA-AYYOHAL INSAANO INNAKA KAADEHUN ELAA RABBEKA KADHAN FA-MOLAAQEEH.
O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling, but thou shalt meet Him.
FA-AMMAA MAN OOTEYA KETAABAHU BE-YAMEENEHI.
Then he who is given his Record in his right hand,
FA-SAWFA YOHAASABO HESAABANY YASEERANW.
Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning,
WA YANQALEBO ELAA AHLEHI MASROORAA.
And he will turn to his people, rejoicing!
WA AMMAA MAN OOTEYA KETAABAHU WARAAA-A ZAHREHI.
But he who is given his Record behind his back,
FA-SAWFA YAD-O’O SOBOORANW.
Soon will he cry for perdition,
WA YASLAA SA-E’ERAA.
And he will enter a Blazing Fire.
INNAHU KAANA FEE AHLEHI MASROORAA.
Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing!
INNAHU ZANNA AL LAN-Y YAHOOR.
Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)!
BALAA, INNA RABBAHU KAANA BEHI BASEERAA.
Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him!
FALAA UQSEMO BISH-SHAFAQE.
So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset;
WAL LAYLE WA MAA WASAQA.
The Night and its Homing;
WAL QAMARE EZAT TASAQA.
And the Moon in her fullness:
LA-TARKABUNNA TABAQN A’N TABAQ.
Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage.
FAMAA LAHUM LAA YOAMENOONA.
What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?
WA EZAA QORE-A A’LAYHEMUL QUR-AANO LAA YASJODOONA.
And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, [۩]
BALIL LAZEENA KAFAROO YOKAZZEBOON.
But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it).
WAL-LAAHO A-A’LAMO BEMAA YOO-O’ON.
But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts)
FA-BASH-SHIRHUM BE-A’ZAABIN ALEEMIN.
So announce to them a Penalty Grievous,
ILLAL LAZEENA AAMANOO WA A’MELUS SAALEHAATE LAHUM AJRUN GHAYRO MAMNOON.
Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail.
