In the Name of Allah, the All-merciful, the All-compassionate
EZASH SHAMSO KUWWERAT.
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up;
WA EZAN NOJOOMUN KADARAT.
When the stars fall, losing their lustre;
WA EZAL JEBAALO SUYYERAT.
When the mountains vanish (like a mirage);
WA EZAL E’SHAARO U’TTELAT.
When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended;
WA EZAL WOHOOSO HOSHERAT.
When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations);
WA EZAL BEHAARO SUJJERAT.
When the oceans boil over with a swell;
WA EZAN NOFOOSO ZUWWEJAT.
When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like);
WA EZAL MAWOODATO SO-ELAT.
When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned -
BE-AYYE ZAMBIN QOTELAT.
For what crime she was killed;
WA EZAS SOHOFO NOSHERAT.
When the scrolls are laid open;
WA EZAS SAMAAA-O KOSHETAT.
When the world on High is unveiled;
WA EZAL JAHEEMO SO’-E’RAT.
When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat;
WA EZAL JANNATO UZLEFAT.
And when the Garden is brought near;-
A’LEMAT NAFSUM MAA AHZARAT.
(Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward.
FALAA UQSEMO BIL-KHUNNASIL
So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede,
JAWAARIL KUNNASE.
Go straight, or hide;
WAL LAYLE EZAA A’S-A’SA.
And the Night as it dissipates;
WAS SUBHE EZAA TANAFFASA.
And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;-
INNAHU LA-QAWLO RASOOLIN KAREEMIN.
Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger,
ZEE QUWWATIN I’NDA ZIL A’RSHIL MAKEENIM.
Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne,
MOTAA-I’N SAMMA AMEEN.
With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust.
WA MAA SAAHEBOKUM BEMAJNOON.
And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed;
WA LAQAD RA-AAHO BIL-OFOQIL MOBEEN.
And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon.
WA MAA HOWA A’LAL GHAYBE BE-ZANEEN.
Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen.
WA MAA HOWA BE-QAWLE SHAYTAANIR RAJEEMIN.
Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed.
FA-AYNA TAZHABOON.
