33: al-Ahzaab الأحزاب

Text and Translation

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

BISMIL LAAHIR RAHMAANIR RAHEEM

In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful

يٰۤاَيُّهَا النَّبِىُّ اتَّقِ اللّٰهَ وَلَا تُطِعِ الْكٰفِرِيْنَ وَالْمُنٰفِقِيْنَ‌ ؕ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ عَلِيْمًا حَكِيْمًا ۙ‏(1)

YAA AYYOHAN NABIYYUT TAQIL LAAHA WA LAA TOTE-I’L KAAFEREENA WAL-MONAAFEQEEN, INNAL LAAHA KAANA A’LEEMAN HAKEEMAA.

O Prophet! Be wary of Allah and do not obey the faithless and the hypocrites. Indeed Allah is all-knowing, all-wise.

وَّاتَّبِعْ مَا يُوْحٰٓى اِلَيْكَ مِنْ رَّبِّكَ‌ ؕ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ بِمَا تَعْمَلُوْنَ خَبِيْرًا ۙ‏(2)

WAT-TABE’ MAA YOOHAA ELAYKA MIR RABBEK, INNAL LAAHA KAANA BEMAA TA’MALOONA KHABEERAA.

Follow that which is revealed to you from your Lord. Indeed Allah is well aware of what you do.

وَّتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اللّٰهِ‌ ؕ وَكَفٰى بِاللّٰهِ وَكِيْلًا‏(3)

WA TAWAKKAL A’LAL LAAH, WA KAFAA BIL LAAHE WAKEELAA

And put your trust in Allah; Allah suffices as trustee.

مَا جَعَلَ اللّٰهُ لِرَجُلٍ مِّنْ قَلْبَيْنِ فِىْ جَوْفِهٖ ۚ وَمَا جَعَلَ اَزْوَاجَكُمُ الّٰٓئِْ تُظٰهِرُوْنَ مِنْهُنَّ اُمَّهٰتِكُمْ ‌ۚ وَمَا جَعَلَ اَدْعِيَآءَكُمْ اَبْنَآءَكُمْ‌ ؕ ذٰ لِكُمْ قَوْلُكُمْ بِاَ فْوَاهِكُمْ‌ ؕ وَاللّٰهُ يَقُوْلُ الْحَقَّ وَهُوَ يَهْدِى السَّبِيْلَ‏(4)

MA JA-A’LAL LAAHO LERAJOLIM MIN QALBAYNE FEE JAWFEH, WA MAA JA-A’LA AZWAAJAKOMUL LAAA-EE TOZAAHEROONA MINHUNNA UMMAHAATEKUM, WA MAA JA-A’LA AD-E’YAAA-AKUM ABNAAA-AKUM, ZAALEKUM QAWLOKUM BE-AFWAAHEKUM, WAL LAAHO YAQOOLUL HAQQA WA HOWA YAHDIS SABEEL.

Allah has not put two hearts within any man, nor has He made your wives whom you repudiate by zihar your mothers, nor has he made your adopted sons your [actual] sons. These are mere utterances of your mouths. But Allah speaks the truth and He guides to the [right] way.

اُدْعُوْهُمْ لِاٰبَآئِهِمْ هُوَ اَقْسَطُ عِنْدَ اللّٰهِ‌ ۚ فَاِنْ لَّمْ تَعْلَمُوْۤا اٰبَآءَهُمْ فَاِخْوَانُكُمْ فِى الدِّيْنِ وَمَوَالِيْكُمْ‌ؕ وَ لَيْسَ عَلَيْكُمْ جُنَاحٌ فِيْمَاۤ اَخْطَاْ تُمْ بِهٖۙ وَلٰكِنْ مَّا تَعَمَّدَتْ قُلُوْبُكُمْ‌ ؕ وَكَانَ اللّٰهُ غَفُوْرًا رَّحِيْمًا‏(5)

UD-O’OHUM LE-AABAAA-EHIM HOWA AQSATO I’NDAL LAAH, FA-IL LAM TA’LAMOO AA-BAAA-AHUM FA-IKHWAANOKUM FID DEENE WA MAWAALEEKUM, WA LAYSA A’LAYKUM JONAAHUN FEEMAA AKHTAATUM BEHI, WA LAAKIM MAA TA-A’MMADAT QOLOOBOKUM, WA KAANAL LAAHO GHAFOORAR RAHEEMAA.

Call them after their fathers. That is more just with Allah. If you do not know their fathers, then they are your brethren in the faith and your kinsmen. Excepting what your hearts may intend deliberately, there will be no sin upon you for any mistake that you may make therein. And Allah is all-forgiving, all-merciful.

اَلنَّبِىُّ اَوْلٰى بِالْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ مِنْ اَنْفُسِهِمْ‌ وَاَزْوَاجُهٗۤ اُمَّهٰتُهُمْ‌ ؕ وَاُولُوا الْاَرْحَامِ بَعْضُهُمْ اَوْلٰى بِبَعْضٍ فِىْ كِتٰبِ اللّٰهِ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ وَالْمُهٰجِرِيْنَ اِلَّاۤ اَنْ تَفْعَلُوْۤا اِلٰٓى اَوْلِيٰٓئِكُمْ مَّعْرُوْفًا‌ ؕ كَانَ ذٰ لِكَ فِى الْكِتٰبِ مَسْطُوْرًا‏(6)

AN-NABIYYO AWLAA BIL-MOAMENEENA MIN ANFOSEHIM WA AZWAAJOHU UMMAHAATOHUM, WA OOLUL ARHAAME BA’ZOHUM AWLAA BE-BA’ZIN FEE KETAABIL LAAHE MENAL MOA-MENEENA WAL-MOHAAJEREENA ILLAA AN TAF-A’LOO ELAA AWLEYAA-EKUM MA’ROOFAA, KAANA ZAALEKA FIL KETAABE MASTOORAA.

The Prophet is closer to the faithful than their own souls, and his wives are their mothers. The blood relatives are more entitled to inherit from one another in the Book of Allah than the [other] faithful and Emigrants, barring any favour you may do your comrades. This has been written in the Book.

وَاِذْ اَخَذْنَا مِنَ النَّبِيّٖنَ مِيْثَاقَهُمْ وَمِنْكَ وَمِنْ نُّوْحٍ وَّاِبْرٰهِيْمَ وَمُوْسٰى وَعِيْسَى ابْنِ مَرْيَمَ وَاَخَذْنَا مِنْهُمْ مِّيْثاقًا غَلِيْظًا ۙ‏(7)

WA EZAA AKHAZNAA MENAN NABIYYEENA MEESAAQAHUM WA MINKA WA MIN NOOHINW WA IBRAAHEEMA WA MOOSAA WA E’ESABNE MARYAM, WA AKHAZNAA MINHUM MEESAAQAN GHALEEZAA.

[Recall] when We took a pledge from the prophets, and from you and from Noah and Abraham and Moses and Jesus son of Mary, and We took from them a solemn pledge,

لِّيَسْئَلَ الصّٰدِقِيْنَ عَنْ صِدْقِهِمْ‌ۚ وَاَعَدَّ لِلْكٰفِرِيْنَ عَذَابًا اَ لِيْمًا‏(8)

LE-YAS-ALAS SAADEQEENA A’N SIDQEHIM, WA A-A’DDA LIL-KAAFEREENA A’ZAABAN ALEEMAA.

so that He may question the truthful concerning their truthfulness. And He has prepared for the faithless a painful punishment.

يٰۤاَيُّهَا الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوا اذْكُرُوْا نِعْمَةَ اللّٰهِ عَلَيْكُمْ اِذْ جَآءَتْكُمْ جُنُوْدٌ فَاَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ رِيْحًا وَّجُنُوْدًا لَّمْ تَرَوْهَا‌ ؕ وَكَانَ اللّٰهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُوْنَ بَصِيْرًا ۚ‏(9)

YAA AYYOHAL LAZEENA AAMANUZ KOROO NE’MATAL LAAHE A’LAYKUM IZ JAAA-ATKUM JONOODUN FA-ARSALNAA A’LAYHIM REEHANW WA JONOODAL LAM TARAWHAA, WA KAANAL LAAHO BEMAA TA’MALOONA BASEERAA.

O you who have faith! Remember Allah’s blessing upon you when the hosts came at you, and We sent against them a gale and hosts whom you did not see, and Allah sees best what you do.

اِذْ جَآءُوْكُمْ مِّنْ فَوْقِكُمْ وَمِنْ اَسْفَلَ مِنْكُمْ وَاِذْ زَاغَتِ الْاَبْصَارُ وَبَلَغَتِ الْقُلُوْبُ الْحَنَاجِرَ وَتَظُنُّوْنَ بِاللّٰهِ الظُّنُوْنَا ؕ‏(10)

IZ JAAA-OOKUM MIN FAWQEKUM WA MIN ASFALA MINKUM WA IZ ZAAGHATIL ABSAARO WA BALAGHATIL QOLOOBUL HANAAJERA WA TAZUNNOONA BIL LAAHIZ ZONOONAA.

When they came at you from above and below you, and when the eyes rolled [with fear] and the hearts leapt to the throats, and you entertained misgivings about Allah,

هُنَالِكَ ابْتُلِىَ الْمُؤْمِنُوْنَ وَزُلْزِلُوْا زِلْزَالًا شَدِيْدًا‏(11)

HONAALEKAB TOLEYAL MOAMENOONA WA ZULZELOO ZILZAALAN SHADEEDAA.

it was there that the faithful were tested and jolted with a severe agitation.

وَاِذْ يَقُوْلُ الْمُنٰفِقُوْنَ وَالَّذِيْنَ فِىْ قُلُوْبِهِمْ مَّرَضٌ مَّا وَعَدَنَا اللّٰهُ وَرَسُوْلُهٗۤ اِلَّا غُرُوْرًا‏(12)

WA IZ YAQOOLUL MONAAFEQOONA WAL-LAZEENA FEE QOLOOBEHIM MARAZUM MAA WA-A’DANAL LAAHO WA RASOOLOHU ILLAA GHOROORAA.

When the hypocrites, as well as those in whose hearts is a sickness, were saying, ‘Allah and His Apostle did not promise us [anything] except delusion.’

وَاِذْ قَالَتْ طَّآئِفَةٌ مِّنْهُمْ يٰۤاَهْلَ يَثْرِبَ لَا مُقَامَ لَكُمْ فَارْجِعُوْا‌ ۚ وَيَسْتَاْذِنُ فَرِيْقٌ مِّنْهُمُ النَّبِىَّ يَقُوْلُوْنَ اِنَّ بُيُوْتَنَا عَوْرَة‌ٌ ‌ۛؕ وَمَا هِىَ بِعَوْرَةٍ ۛۚ اِنْ يُّرِيْدُوْنَ اِلَّا فِرَارًا‏(13)

WA IZ QAALAT TAAA-EFATUM MINHUM YAA AHLA YASREBA LAA MOQAAMA LAKUM FAR-JE-O’O, WA YASTAAZENO FAREEQUM MINHOMUN NABIYYA YAQOOLOONA INNA BOYOOTANAA A’WRAH, WA MAA HEYA BE-A’WRAH, INY YOREEDOONA ILLAA FERAARAA.

And when a group of them said, ‘O people of Yathrib! [This is] not a place for you, so go back!’ A group of them sought the Prophet’s permission [to leave the scene of battle], saying, ‘Our homes lie exposed [to the enemy],’ although they were not exposed. They only sought to flee.

وَلَوْ دُخِلَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ مِّنْ اَقْطَارِهَا ثُمَّ سُئِلُوا الْفِتْنَةَ لَاٰتَوْهَا وَمَا تَلَبَّثُوْا بِهَاۤ اِلَّا يَسِيْرًا‏(14)

WA LAW DOKHELAT A’LAYHIM MIN AQTAAREHAA SUMMA SO-ELUL FITNATA LA-AATAWHAA WA MAA TALABBASOO BEHAA ILLAA YASEERAA.

Had they been invaded from its flanks and had they been asked to apostatize, they would have done so with only a mild hesitation,

وَلَقَدْ كَانُوْا عَاهَدُوا اللّٰهَ مِنْ قَبْلُ لَا يُوَلُّوْنَ الْاَدْبَارَ‌ ؕ وَكَانَ عَهْدُ اللّٰهِ مَسْئُوْلًا‏(15)

WA LAQAD KAANOO A’AHADUL LAAHA MIN QABLO LAA YOWALLOONAL ADBAAR, WA KAANA A’HDUL LAAHE MAS-OOLAA.

though they had already pledged to Allah before that they would not turn their backs [to flee], and pledges given to Allah are accountable.

قُلْ لَّنْ يَّنْفَعَكُمُ الْفِرَارُ اِنْ فَرَرْتُمْ مِّنَ الْمَوْتِ اَوِ الْقَتْلِ وَاِذًا لَّا تُمَتَّعُوْنَ اِلَّا قَلِيْلًا‏(16)

QUL LANY YANFA-A’KOMUL FERAARO IN FARARTUM MENAL MAWTE AWIL QATLE WA EZAL LAA TOMATTA-O’ONA ILLAA QALEELAA.

Say, ‘Flight will not avail you, if you flee from death, or from being killed, and then you will be let to enjoy only for a little while.’

قُلْ مَنْ ذَا الَّذِىْ يَعْصِمُكُمْ مِّنَ اللّٰهِ اِنْ اَرَادَ بِكُمْ سُوْٓءًا اَوْ اَرَادَ بِكُمْ رَحْمَةً ‌ؕ وَلَا يَجِدُوْنَ لَهُمْ مِّنْ دُوْنِ اللّٰهِ وَلِيًّا وَّلَا نَصِيْرًا‏(17)

QUL MAN ZAL LAZEE YA’SEMOKUM MENAL LAAHE IN ARAADA BEKUM SOOO-AN AW ARAADA BEKUM RAHMAH, WA YAJEDOONA LAHUM MIN DOONIL LAAHE WALIYYANW WA LAA NASEERAA.

Say, ‘Who is it that can protect you from Allah if He desires to cause you harm or desires to grant you His mercy?’ Besides Allah they will not find for themselves any protector or helper.

قَدْ يَعْلَمُ اللّٰهُ الْمُعَوِّقِيْنَ مِنْكُمْ وَالْقَآئِلِيْنَ لِاِخْوَانِهِمْ هَلُمَّ اِلَيْنَا‌ ۚ وَلَا يَاْتُوْنَ الْبَاْسَ اِلَّا قَلِيْلًا ۙ‏(18)

QAD YA’LAMUL LAAHUL MO-A’WWEQEENA MINKUM WAL-QAAA-ELEENA LE-IKHWAANEHIM HALUMMA ELAYNAA, WA LAA YAATOONAL BAASA ILLAA QALEELAA.

Allah knows those of you who discourage others, and those who say to their brethren, ‘Come to us!’ and take little part in the battle,

اَشِحَّةً عَلَيْكُمْ ‌‌ۖۚ فَاِذَا جَآءَ الْخَوْفُ رَاَيْتَهُمْ يَنْظُرُوْنَ اِلَيْكَ تَدُوْرُ اَعْيُنُهُمْ كَالَّذِىْ يُغْشٰى عَلَيْهِ مِنَ الْمَوْتِ‌ ۚ فَاِذَا ذَهَبَ الْخَوْفُ سَلَقُوْكُمْ بِاَ لْسِنَةٍ حِدَادٍ اَشِحَّةً عَلَى الْخَيْرِ‌ ؕ اُولٰٓئِكَ لَمْ يُؤْمِنُوْا فَاَحْبَطَ اللّٰهُ اَعْمَالَهُمْ‌ ؕ وَكَانَ ذٰ لِكَ عَلَى اللّٰهِ يَسِيْرًا‏(19)

A-SHEHHATAN A’LAYKUM, FA-EZAA JAAA-AL KHAWFO RA-AYTAHUM YANZOROONA ELAYKA TADOORO A-A’YONOHUM KAL-LAZEE YUGHSHAA A’LAYHE MENAL MAWT, FA-EZAA ZAHABAL KHAWFO SALAQOOKUM BE-ALSENATIM HEDAADIN A-SHEHHATAN A’AL KHAYR, OOLAAAEKA LAM YOAMENOO FA-AHBATAL LAAHO A-A’MAALAHUM, WA KAANA ZAALEKA A’LAL LAAHE YASEERAA.

grudging you [their help]. So when there is panic, you see them looking at you, with their eyes rolling like someone fainting at death. Then, when the panic is over, they scald you with [their] sharp tongues in their greed for the spoils. They never have had faith. So Allah has made their works fail, and that is easy for Allah.

يَحْسَبُوْنَ الْاَحْزَابَ لَمْ يَذْهَبُوْا‌ ۚ وَاِنْ يَّاْتِ الْاَحْزَابُ يَوَدُّوْا لَوْ اَنَّهُمْ بَادُوْنَ فِى الْاَعْرَابِ يَسْاَ لُوْنَ عَنْ اَنْۢبَآئِكُمْ‌ ؕ وَلَوْ كَانُوْا فِيْكُمْ مَّا قٰتَلُوْۤا اِلَّا قَلِيْلًا‏(20)

YAHSABOONAL AHZAABA LAM YAZHABOO, WA INY YAATIL AHZAABO YAWADDOO LAW ANNAHUM BAADOONA FIL A-A’RAABE YAS-ALOONA A’N ANBAAA-EKUM, WA LAW KAANOO FEEKUM MAA QAATALOO ILLAA QALEELAA

They suppose the confederates have not left yet, and were the confederates to come [again], they would wish they were in the desert with the Bedouins asking about your news, and if they were with you they would fight but a little.

لَقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِىْ رَسُوْلِ اللّٰهِ اُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ لِّمَنْ كَانَ يَرْجُوا اللّٰهَ وَالْيَوْمَ الْاٰخِرَ وَذَكَرَ اللّٰهَ كَثِيْرًا ؕ‏(21)

LAQAD KAANA LAKUM FEE RASOOLIL LAAHE USWATUN HASANATUL LEMAN KAANA YARJUL LAAHA WAL-YAWMAL AAKHERA WA ZAKARAL LAAHA KASEERAA.

There is certainly a good exemplar for you in the Apostle of Allah—for those who look forward to Allah and the Last Day, and remember Allah much.

وَلَمَّا رَاَ الْمُؤْمِنُوْنَ الْاَحْزَابَ ۙ قَالُوْا هٰذَا مَا وَعَدَنَا اللّٰهُ وَرَسُوْلُهٗ وَ صَدَقَ اللّٰهُ وَرَسُوْلُهٗ وَمَا زَادَهُمْ اِلَّاۤ اِيْمَانًا وَّتَسْلِيْمًا ؕ‏(22)

WA LAMAA RA-AL MOAMENOONAL AHZAABA, QAALOO HAAZAA MAA WA-A’DANAL LAAHO WA RASOOLOHU WA SADAQAL LAAHO WA RASOOLOHU, WA MAA ZAADAHUM ILLAA EEMAANAW WA TASLEEMAA.

But when the faithful saw the confederates, they said, ‘This is what Allah and His Apostle had promised us, and Allah and His Apostle were true.’ And it only increased them in faith and submission.

مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ رِجَالٌ صَدَقُوْا مَا عَاهَدُوا اللّٰهَ عَلَيْهِ‌ۚ فَمِنْهُمْ مَّنْ قَضٰى نَحْبَهٗ وَمِنْهُمْ مَّنْ يَّنْتَظِرُ‌ ۖ  وَمَا بَدَّلُوْا تَبْدِيْلًا ۙ‏(23)

MENAL MOAMENEENA REJAALUN SADAQOO MAA A’AHADUL LAAHA A’LAYH, FAMINHUM MAN QAZAA NAHBAHU WA MINHUM MANY YANTAZER, WA MAA BADDALOO TABDEELAA.

Among the faithful are men who fulfill what they have pledged to Allah: there are some among them who have fulfilled their pledge, and some of them who still wait, and they have not changed in the least,

لِّيَجْزِىَ اللّٰهُ الصّٰدِقِيْنَ بِصِدْقِهِمْ وَيُعَذِّبَ الْمُنٰفِقِيْنَ اِنْ شَآءَ اَوْ يَتُوْبَ عَلَيْهِمْ‌ ؕ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ غَفُوْرًا رَّحِيْمًا ۚ‏(24)

LE-YAJZEYAL LAAHUS SAADEQEENA BE-SIDQEHIM WA YO-A’ZZEBAL MONAAFEQEENA IN SHAAA-A AW YATOOBA A’LAYHIM, INNAL LAAHA KAANA GHAFOORAR RAHEEMAA.

that Allah may reward the true for their truthfulness, and punish the hypocrites, if He wishes, or accept their repentance. Indeed Allah is all-forgiving, all-merciful.

وَرَدَّ اللّٰهُ الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْا بِغَيْظِهِمْ لَمْ يَنَالُوْا خَيْرًا‌ ؕ وَكَفَى اللّٰهُ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ الْقِتَالَ‌ ؕ وَكَانَ اللّٰهُ قَوِيًّا عَزِيْزًا ۚ‏(25)

WA RADDAL LAAHUL LAZEENA KAFAROO BE-GHAYZEHIM LAM YANAALOO KHAYRAA, WA KAFAL LAAHUL MOAMENOONAL QETAAL, WA KAANAL LAAHO QAWIYYAN A’ZEEZAA.

Allah sent back the faithless in their rage, without their attaining any advantage, and Allah spared the faithful of fighting, and Allah is all-strong, all-mighty.

وَاَنْزَلَ الَّذِيْنَ ظَاهَرُوْهُمْ مِّنْ اَهْلِ الْكِتٰبِ مِنْ صَيَاصِيْهِمْ وَقَذَفَ فِىْ قُلُوْبِهِمُ الرُّعْبَ فَرِيْقًا تَقْتُلُوْنَ وَتَاْسِرُوْنَ فَرِيْقًا ۚ‏(26)

WA ANZALAL LAZEENA ZAAHAROOHUM MIN AHLIL KETAABE MIN SAYAASEEHIM WA QAZAFA FEE QOLOOBEHEMUR ROA’BA FAREEQAN TAQTOLOONA WA TAASEROONA FAREEQAA.

And He dragged down from their strongholds those who had backed them from among the People of the Book, and He cast terror into their hearts, [so that] you killed a part of them, and took captive [another] part.

وَاَوْرَثَكُمْ اَرْضَهُمْ وَدِيَارَهُمْ وَ اَمْوَالَهُمْ وَاَرْضًا لَّمْ تَطَئُوْهَا‌ ؕ وَكَانَ اللّٰهُ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيْرًا‏(27)

WA AWRASAKUM ARZAHUM WA DEYAARAHUM WA AMWAALAHUM WA ARZAL LAM TA-TA-OOHAA, WA KAANAL LAAHO A’LAA KULLE SHAY-IN QADEERAA.

He bequeathed you their land, their houses and their possessions, and a territory you had not trodden, and Allah has power over all things.

يٰۤاَيُّهَا النَّبِىُّ قُلْ لِّاَزْوَاجِكَ اِنْ كُنْتُنَّ تُرِدْنَ الْحَيٰوةَ الدُّنْيَا وَزِيْنَتَهَا فَتَعَالَيْنَ اُمَتِّعْكُنَّ وَاُسَرِّحْكُنَّ سَرَاحًا جَمِيْلًا‏(28)

YAA AYYOHAN NABIYYO QUL LE-AZWAAJEKA IN KUNTUNNA TORIDNAL HAYAATAD DUNYAA WA ZEENATAHAA FA-TA-A’ALAYNA OMATTEKUNNA WA OSARREHKUNNA SARAAHAN JAMEELAA.

O Prophet! Say to your wives, ‘If you desire the life of the world and its glitter, come, I will provide for you and release you in a graceful manner.

وَاِنْ كُنْتُنَّ تُرِدْنَ اللّٰهَ وَرَسُوْلَهٗ وَالدَّارَ الْاٰخِرَةَ فَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ اَعَدَّ لِلْمُحْسِنٰتِ مِنْكُنَّ اَجْرًا عَظِيْمًا‏(29)

WA IN KUNTUNNA TORIDNAL LAAHA WA RASOOLAHU WAD-DAARAL AAKHERATA FA-INNAL LAAHA A-A’DDA LIL-MOHSENAATE MINKUNNA AJRAN A’ZEEMAA.

But if you desire Allah and His Apostle and the abode of the Hereafter, then Allah has indeed prepared a great reward for the virtuous among you.’

يٰنِسَآءَ النَّبِىِّ مَنْ يَّاْتِ مِنْكُنَّ بِفَاحِشَةٍ مُّبَيِّنَةٍ يُّضٰعَفْ لَهَا الْعَذَابُ ضِعْفَيْنِ ‌ؕ وَكَانَ ذٰ لِكَ عَلَى اللّٰهِ يَسِيْرًا‏(30)

YAA NESAAA-AN NABIYYE MANY YAATE MINKUNNA BE-FAAHESHATIM MOBAYYENATINY YOZAA-A’F LAHAL A’ZAABO ZE’FAYN, WA KAANA ZAALEKA A’LAL LAAHE YASEERAA.

O wives of the Prophet! Whoever of you commits a gross indecency, her punishment shall be doubled, and that is easy for Allah.

وَمَنْ يَّقْنُتْ مِنْكُنَّ لِلّٰهِ وَرَسُوْلِهٖ وَتَعْمَلْ صَالِحًا نُّؤْتِهَآ اَجْرَهَا مَرَّتَيْنِۙ وَاَعْتَدْنَا لَهَا رِزْقًا كَرِيْمًا‏(31)

WA MAYN YAQNOT MINKUNNA LILLAAHE WA RASOOLEHI WA TA’MAL SAALEHAN NOATEHAA AJRAHAA MARRATAYNE, WA A-ATADNAA LAHAA RIZQAN KAREEMAA.

But whoever of you is obedient to Allah and His Apostle and acts righteously, We shall give her a twofold reward, and We will have in store for her a noble provision.

يٰنِسَآءَ النَّبِىِّ لَسْتُنَّ كَاَحَدٍ مِّنَ النِّسَآءِ اِنِ اتَّقَيْتُنَّ فَلَا تَخْضَعْنَ بِالْقَوْلِ فَيَطْمَعَ الَّذِىْ فِىْ قَلْبِهٖ مَرَضٌ وَّقُلْنَ قَوْلًا مَّعْرُوْفًا ۚ‏(32)

YAA-NESAAA-AN NABIYYE LASTUNNA KA-AHADIM MENAN NESAAA-E ENIT TAQAYTUNNA FALAA TAKHZA’NA BIL-QAWLE FA-YATMA-A’L LAZEE FEE QALBEHI MARAZUNW WA QULNA QAWLAM MA’ROOFAA.

O wives of the Prophet! You are not like other women: if you are wary [of Allah], do not be complaisant in your speech, lest he in whose heart is a sickness should aspire; speak honourable words.

وَقَرْنَ فِىْ بُيُوْتِكُنَّ وَلَا تَبَرَّجْنَ تَبَرُّجَ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ الْاُوْلٰى وَاَقِمْنَ الصَّلٰوةَ وَاٰتِيْنَ الزَّكٰوةَ وَاَطِعْنَ اللّٰهَ وَرَسُوْلَهٗ ؕ اِنَّمَا يُرِيْدُ اللّٰهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ اَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيْرًا ۚ‏(33)

WA QARNA FEE BOYOOTEKUNNA WA LAA TABARRAJNA TABARROJAL JAAHELIYYATIL OOLAA WA AQIMNAS SALAATA WA AATEENAZ ZAKAATA WA A-TE’NAL LAAHA WA RASOOLAH, INNAMAA YOREEDUL LAAHO LEYUZHEBA A’NKOMUR RIJSA AHLAL BAYTE WA YOTAHHERAKUM TATHEERAA.

Stay in your houses and do not flaunt your finery like the former [days of pagan] ignorance. Maintain the prayer and pay the zakat, and obey Allah and His Apostle. Indeed Allah desires to repel all impurity from you, O People of the Household, and purify you with a thorough purification.

وَاذْكُرْنَ مَا يُتْلٰى فِىْ بُيُوْتِكُنَّ مِنْ اٰيٰتِ اللّٰهِ وَالْحِكْمَةِؕ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ لَطِيْفًا خَبِيْرًا‏(34)

WAZKURNA MAA YUTLAA FEE BOYOOTEKUNNA MIN AAYAATIL LAAHE WAL-HIKMAH, INNAL LAAHA KAANA LATEEFAN KHABEERAA.

And remember what is recited in your homes of the signs of Allah and wisdom. Indeed Allah is all-attentive, all-aware.

اِنَّ الْمُسْلِمِيْنَ وَالْمُسْلِمٰتِ وَالْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ وَالْمُؤْمِنٰتِ وَالْقٰنِتِيْنَ وَالْقٰنِتٰتِ وَالصّٰدِقِيْنَ وَالصّٰدِقٰتِ وَالصّٰبِرِيْنَ وَالصّٰبِرٰتِ وَالْخٰشِعِيْنَ وَالْخٰشِعٰتِ وَالْمُتَصَدِّقِيْنَ وَ الْمُتَصَدِّقٰتِ وَالصَّآئِمِيْنَ وَالصّٰٓئِمٰتِ وَالْحٰفِظِيْنَ فُرُوْجَهُمْ وَالْحٰفِظٰتِ وَالذّٰكِرِيْنَ اللّٰهَ كَثِيْرًا وَّ الذّٰكِرٰتِ ۙ اَعَدَّ اللّٰهُ لَهُمْ مَّغْفِرَةً وَّاَجْرًا عَظِيْمًا‏(35)

INNAL MUSLEMEENA WAL-MUSLEMAATE WAL-MOA’MENEENA WAL-MOAMENAATE WAL-QAANETEENA WAL-QAANETAATE WAS-SAADEQEENA WAS-SAADEQAATE WAS-SAABEREENA WAS-SAABERAATE WAL-KHAASHE-E’ENA WAL-KHAASE-A’ATE WAL-MOTASADDEQEENA WAL MOTASADDEQAATE WAS-SAAA-EMEENA WAS-SAAA-EMAATE WAL-HAAFEZEENA FOROOJAHUM WAL-HAAFEZAATE WAZ-ZAAKEREENAL LAAHA KASEERANW WAZ-ZAAKERAATE, A-A’DDAL LAAHO LAHUM MAGHFERATANW WA AJRAN A’ZEEMAA.

Indeed the muslim men and the muslim women, the faithful men and the faithful women, the obedient men and the obedient women, the truthful men and the truthful women, the patient men and the patient women, the humble men and the humble women, the charitable men and the charitable women, the men who fast and the women who fast, the men who guard their private parts and the women who guard, the men who remember Allah greatly and the women who remember [Allah greatly]—Allah holds in store for them forgiveness and a great reward.

وَمَا كَانَ لِمُؤْمِنٍ وَّلَا مُؤْمِنَةٍ اِذَا قَضَى اللّٰهُ وَرَسُوْلُهٗۤ اَمْرًا اَنْ يَّكُوْنَ لَهُمُ الْخِيَرَةُ مِنْ اَمْرِهِمْ ؕ وَمَنْ يَّعْصِ اللّٰهَ وَرَسُوْلَهٗ فَقَدْ ضَلَّ ضَلٰلًا مُّبِيْنًا‏(36)

WA MAA KAANA LE-MOAMENINW WA LAA MOAMENATIN EZAA QAZAL LAAHO WA RASOOLOHU AMRAN AY YAKOONA LAHOMUL KHEYARATO MIN AMREHIM, WA MAY YA’ASIL LAAHA WA RASOOLAHU FAQAD ZALLA ZALAALAM MOBEENAA.

A faithful man or woman may not have any option in their matter, when Allah and His Apostle have decided on a matter, and whoever disobeys Allah and His Apostle has certainly strayed into manifest error.

وَاِذْ تَقُوْلُ لِلَّذِىْۤ اَنْعَمَ اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِ اَمْسِكْ عَلَيْكَ زَوْجَكَ وَاتَّقِ اللّٰهَ وَتُخْفِىْ فِىْ نَفْسِكَ مَا اللّٰهُ مُبْدِيْهِ وَتَخْشَى النَّاسَ ‌ۚ وَاللّٰهُ اَحَقُّ اَنْ تَخْشٰٮهُ ؕ فَلَمَّا قَضٰى زَيْدٌ مِّنْهَا وَطَرًا زَوَّجْنٰكَهَا لِكَىْ لَا يَكُوْنَ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ حَرَجٌ فِىْۤ اَزْوَاجِ اَدْعِيَآئِهِمْ اِذَا قَضَوْا مِنْهُنَّ وَطَرًا ؕ وَكَانَ اَمْرُ اللّٰهِ مَفْعُوْلًا‏(37)

WA IZ TAQOOLO LIL-LAZEE AN-A’MAL LAAHO A’LAYHE WA AN-A’MTA A’LAYHE AMSIK A’LAYKA ZAWJAKA WAT-TAQIL LAAHA WA TUKHFEE FEE NAFSEKA MAL LAAHO MUBDEEHE WA TAKH-SHAN NAAS, WAL LAAHO AHAQQO AN TAKHSHAAH, FALAMMAA QAZAA ZAYDUM MINHAA WATARAN ZAWWAJNAAKAHAA LEKAY LAA YAKOONA A’LAL MOAMENEENA HARAJUN FEE AZWAAJE AD-E’YAAA-EHIM EZAA QAZAW MINHUNNA WATARAA, WA KAANA AMRUL LAAHE MAF-O’OLAA.

When you said to him whom Allah had blessed, and whom you [too] had blessed, ‘Retain your wife for yourself, and be wary of Allah,’ and you had hidden in your heart what Allah was to divulge, and you feared the people though Allah is worthier that you should fear Him, so when Zayd had got through with her, We wedded her to you, so that there may be no blame on the faithful in respect of the wives of their adopted sons, when the latter have got through with them, and Allah’s command is bound to be fulfilled.

مَا كَانَ عَلَى النَّبِىِّ مِنْ حَرَجٍ فِيْمَا فَرَضَ اللّٰهُ لهٗ ؕ سُنَّةَ اللّٰهِ فِى الَّذِيْنَ خَلَوْا مِنْ قَبْلُ ؕ وَكَانَ اَمْرُ اللّٰهِ قَدَرًا مَّقْدُوْرَا  ۙ‏(38)

MAA KAANA A’LAN NABIYYE MIN HARAHIN FEEMAA FARAZAL LAAHO LAHU, SUNNATAL LAAHE FIL LAZEENA KHALAW MIN QABL, WA KAANA AMRUL LAAHE QADARAM MAQDOORAA.

There is no blame on the Prophet in respect of that which Allah has made lawful for him: Allah’s precedent with those who passed away earlier (and Allah’s commands are ordained by a precise ordaining),

اۨلَّذِيْنَ يُبَلِّغُوْنَ رِسٰلٰتِ اللّٰهِ وَيَخْشَوْنَهٗ وَلَا يَخْشَوْنَ اَحَدًا اِلَّا اللّٰهَ ؕ وَكَفٰى بِاللّٰهِ حَسِيْبًا‏(39)

ALLAZEENA YOBALLEGHOONA RESAALAATIL LAAHE WA YAKHSHAWNAHU WA LAA YAKHSHAWNA AHADAN ILLAL LAAH, WA KAFAA BIL LAAHE HASEEBAA.

such as deliver the messages of Allah and fear Him, and fear no one except Allah, and Allah suffices as reckoner.

مَا كَانَ مُحَمَّدٌ اَبَآ اَحَدٍ مِّنْ رِّجَالِكُمْ وَلٰكِنْ رَّسُوْلَ اللّٰهِ وَخَاتَمَ النَّبِيّٖنَ ؕ وَكَانَ اللّٰهُ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيْمًا‏(40)

MAA KAANA MOHAMMADUN ABAA AHADIM MIR REJAALEKUM WA LAAKIR RASOOLAL LAAHE WA KHAATAMAN NABIYYEEN, WA KAANAL LAAHO BEKULLE SHAY-IN A’LEEMAA.

Muhammad is not the father of any man among you, but he is the Apostle of Allah and the Seal of the Prophets, and Allah has knowledge of all things.

يٰۤاَيُّهَا الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوا اذْكُرُوْا اللّٰهَ ذِكْرًا كَثِيْرًا ۙ‏(41)

YAA AYYOHAL LAZEENA AAMANUZ KORUL LAAHA ZIKRAN KASEERAW.

O you who have faith! Remember Allah with frequent remembrance,

وَّ سَبِّحُوْهُ بُكْرَةً وَّاَصِيْلًا‏(42)

WA SABBEHOOHO BUKRATANW WA ASEELAA.

and glorify Him morning and evening.

هُوَ الَّذِىْ يُصَلِّىْ عَلَيْكُمْ وَمَلٰٓئِكَتُهٗ لِيُخْرِجَكُمْ مِّنَ الظُّلُمٰتِ اِلَى النُّوْرِ ؕ وَكَانَ بِالْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ رَحِيْمًا‏(43)

HOWAL LAZEE YOSALLEE A’LAYKUM WA MALAAA-EKATOHU LE-YUKHREJAKUM MENAZ ZOLOMAATE ELAN NOOR, WA KAANA BIL-MOAMENEENA RAHEEMAA.

It is He who blesses you—and so do His angels—that He may bring you out from darkness into light, and He is most merciful to the faithful.

تَحِيَّتُهُمْ يَوْمَ يَلْقَوْنَهٗ سَلٰمٌۖۚ وَاَعَدَّ لَهُمْ اَجْرًا كَرِيْمًا‏(44)

TAHIYYATOHUM YAWMA YALQAWNAHU SALAANW, WA A-A’DDA LAHUM AJRAN KAREEMAA.

The day they encounter Him, their greeting will be, ‘Peace,’ and He holds in store for them a noble reward.

يٰۤاَيُّهَا النَّبِىُّ اِنَّاۤ اَرْسَلْنٰكَ شَاهِدًا وَّمُبَشِّرًا وَّنَذِيْرًا ۙ‏(45)

YAA-AYYOHAN NABIYYO INNAA ARSAANAAKA SHAAHEDANW WA MOBASH-SHERANW WA NAZEERANW.

O Prophet! Indeed We have sent you as a witness, as a bearer of good news and as a warner

وَّدَاعِيًا اِلَى اللّٰهِ بِاِذْنِهٖ وَسِرَاجًا مُّنِيْرًا‏(46)

WA DAA-E’YAN ELAL LAAHE BE-IZNEHI WA SERAAJAM MONEERAA.

and as a summoner to Allah by His permission, and as a radiant lamp.

وَبَشِّرِ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ بِاَنَّ لَهُمْ مِّنَ اللّٰهِ فَضْلًا كَبِيْرًا‏(47)

WA BASH-SHERIL MOAMENEENA BE-ANNA LAHUM MENAL LAAHE FAZLAN KABEERAA.

Announce to the faithful the good news that there will be for them a great grace from Allah.

وَلَا تُطِعِ الْكٰفِرِيْنَ وَالْمُنٰفِقِيْنَ وَدَعْ اَذٰٮهُمْ وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اللّٰهِ ؕ وَكَفٰى بِاللّٰهِ وَكِيْلًا‏(48)

WA LAA TO-TE-I’L KAAFEREENA WAL MONAAFEQEENA WA DA’ AZAAHUM WA TAWAKKAL A’LAL LAAH, WA KAFAA BILLAAHE WAKEELAA.

Do not obey the faithless and the hypocrites, and disregard their torments, and put your trust in Allah, and Allah suffices as trustee.

يٰۤاَيُّهَا الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْۤا اِذَا نَكَحْتُمُ الْمُؤْمِنٰتِ ثُمَّ طَلَّقْتُمُوْهُنَّ مِنْ قَبْلِ اَنْ تَمَسُّوْهُنَّ فَمَا لَكُمْ عَلَيْهِنَّ مِنْ عِدَّةٍ تَعْتَدُّوْنَهَا ۚ فَمَتِّعُوْهُنَّ وَسَرِّحُوْهُنَّ سَرَاحًا جَمِيْلًا‏(49)

YAA AYYOHAL LAZEENA AAMANOO IZAA NAKAHTOMUL MOAMENAATE SUMMA TALLAQTOMOOHUNNA MIN QABLE AN TAMASSOOHUNNA FAMAA LAKUM A’LAYHINNA MIN I’DDATIN TA’TADDOONAHAA, FA-MATTE-O’OHUNNA WA SARREHOOHUNNA SARAAHAN JAMEELAA.

O you who have faith! When you marry faithful women and then divorce them before you touch them, there shall be no period for you to reckon. But provide for them and release them in a graceful manner.

يٰۤاَيُّهَا النَّبِىُّ اِنَّاۤ اَحْلَلْنَا لَكَ اَزْوَاجَكَ الّٰتِىْۤ اٰتَيْتَ اُجُوْرَهُنَّ وَمَا مَلَكَتْ يَمِيْنُكَ مِمَّاۤ اَفَآءَ اللّٰهُ عَلَيْكَ وَبَنٰتِ عَمِّكَ وَبَنٰتِ عَمّٰتِكَ وَبَنٰتِ خَالِكَ وَبَنٰتِ خٰلٰتِكَ الّٰتِىْ هَاجَرْنَ مَعَكَ وَامْرَاَةً مُّؤْمِنَةً اِنْ وَّهَبَتْ نَفْسَهَا لِلنَّبِىِّ اِنْ اَرَادَ النَّبِىُّ اَنْ يَّسْتَنْكِحَهَا خَالِصَةً لَّكَ مِنْ دُوْنِ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ ؕ قَدْ عَلِمْنَا مَا فَرَضْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ فِىْۤ اَزْوَاجِهِمْ وَمَا مَلَكَتْ اَيْمَانُهُمْ لِكَيْلَا يَكُوْنَ عَلَيْكَ حَرَجٌؕ وَكَانَ اللّٰهُ غَفُوْرًا رَّحِيْمًا‏(50)

YAA AYYOHAN NABIYYO INNAA AHLALNAA LAKA AZWAAJAKAL LAATEE AATAYTA OJOORAHUNNA WA MAA MALAKAT YAMEENOKA MIMMAA AFAAA-AL LAAHO A’LAYKA WA BANAATE A’MMEKA WA BANAATE A’MMAATEKA WA BANAATE KHAALEKA WA BANAATE KHAALAATEKAL LAATEE HAAJARNA MA-A’KA, WAM-RA-ATAM MOAMENATAN INW WAHABAT NAFSAHAA LINNABIYYE IN ARAADAN NABIYYO AY-YASTANKEHAHAA, KHAALESATAL LAKA MIN DOONIL MOAMENEEN, QAD A’LIMNAA MAA FARAZNAA A’LAYHIM FEE AZWAAJEHIM WA MAA MALAKAT AYMAANOHUM LE-KAYLAA YAKOONA A’LAYKA HARAJ, WA KAANAL LAAHO GHAFOORAR RAHEEMAA.

O Prophet! Indeed We have made lawful to you your wives whom you have given their dowries, and those whom your right hand owns, of those whom Allah gave you as spoils of war, and the daughters of your paternal uncle, and the daughters of your paternal aunts, and the daughters of your maternal uncle, and the daughters of your maternal aunts who migrated with you, and a faithful woman if she offers herself to the Prophet and the Prophet desires to take her in marriage (a privilege exclusively for you, not for [the rest of] the faithful; We know what We have made lawful for them with respect to their wives and those whom their right hands own, so that there may be no blame on you ), and Allah is all-forgiving, all-merciful.

تُرْجِىْ مَنْ تَشَآءُ مِنْهُنَّ وَتُئْوِىْۤ اِلَيْكَ مَنْ تَشَآءُ ؕ وَمَنِ ابْتَغَيْتَ مِمَّنْ عَزَلْتَ فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْكَ ؕ ذٰ لِكَ اَدْنٰٓى اَنْ تَقَرَّ اَعْيُنُهُنَّ وَلَا يَحْزَنَّ وَيَرْضَيْنَ بِمَاۤ اٰتَيْتَهُنَّ كُلُّهُنَّ ؕ وَاللّٰهُ يَعْلَمُ مَا فِىْ قُلُوْبِكُمْ ؕ وَكَانَ اللّٰهُ عَلِيْمًا حَلِيْمًا‏(51)

TURJEE MAN TASHAAA-O MINHUNNA WA TOA-WEE ELAYKA MAN TASHAAA, WA MANIB TAGHAYTA MIMMAN A’ZALTA FALAA JONAAHA A’LAYK, ZAALEKA ADNAA AN TAQARRA A-A’YONOHUNNA WA LAA YAHZANNA WA YARZAYNA BEMAA AATAYTAHUNNA KULLOHUN, WAL LAAHO YA’LAMO MAA FEE QOLOOBEKUM, WA KAANAL LAAHO A’LEEMAN HALEEMAA.

You may put off whichever of them you wish and consort with whichever of them you wish, and there is no sin upon you [in receiving again] any [of them] whom you may seek [to consort with] from among those you have set aside [earlier]. That makes it likelier that they will be comforted and not feel unhappy, and all of them will be pleased with what you give them. Allah knows what is in your hearts, and Allah is all-knowing, all-forbearing.

لَا يَحِلُّ لَكَ النِّسَآءُ مِنْۢ بَعْدُ وَلَاۤ اَنْ تَبَدَّلَ بِهِنَّ مِنْ اَزْوَاجٍ وَّلَوْ اَعْجَبَكَ حُسْنُهُنَّ اِلَّا مَا مَلَكَتْ يَمِيْنُكَ‌ؕ وَكَانَ اللّٰهُ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَىْءٍ رَّقِيْبًا‏(52)

LAA YAHILLO LAKAN NESAAA-O MIM BA’DO WA LAA AN TABADDALA BEHINNA MIN AZWAAJINW WA LAW A-A’JABAKA HUSNOHUNNA ILLAA MAA MALAKAT YAMEENOK, WA KAANAL LAAHO A’LAA KULLE SHAY-IR RAQEEBAA.

Beyond that, women are not lawful for you, nor that you should change them for other wives even though their beauty should impress you, except those whom your right hand owns. Allah is watchful over all things.

يٰۤاَيُّهَا الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا لَا تَدْخُلُوْا بُيُوْتَ النَّبِىِّ اِلَّاۤ اَنْ يُّؤْذَنَ لَكُمْ اِلٰى طَعَامٍ غَيْرَ نٰظِرِيْنَ اِنٰٮهُ وَلٰكِنْ اِذَا دُعِيْتُمْ فَادْخُلُوْا فَاِذَا طَعِمْتُمْ فَانْتَشِرُوْا وَلَا مُسْتَاْنِسِيْنَ لِحَدِيْثٍ ؕ اِنَّ ذٰلِكُمْ كَانَ يُؤْذِى النَّبِىَّ فَيَسْتَحْىٖ مِنْكُمْ وَاللّٰهُ لَا يَسْتَحْىٖ مِنَ الْحَقِّ ؕ وَاِذَا سَاَ لْتُمُوْهُنَّ مَتَاعًا فَسْئَلُوْهُنَّ مِنْ وَّرَآءِ حِجَابٍ ؕ ذٰ لِكُمْ اَطْهَرُ لِقُلُوْبِكُمْ وَقُلُوْبِهِنَّ ؕ وَمَا كَانَ لَكُمْ اَنْ تُؤْذُوْا رَسُوْلَ اللّٰهِ وَلَاۤ اَنْ تَنْكِحُوْۤا اَزْوَاجَهٗ مِنْۢ بَعْدِهٖۤ اَبَدًا ؕ اِنَّ ذٰ لِكُمْ كَانَ عِنْدَ اللّٰهِ عَظِيْمًا‏(53)

YAA AYYOHAL LAAZEENA AAMANOO LAA TADKHOLOO BOYOOTAN NABIYYE ILLAA AY YOAZANA LAKUM ELAA TA-A’AMIN GHAYRA NAAZEREENA ENAAH, WA LAAKIN EZAA DO-E’ETUN FADKHOLOO FA-EZAA LA-I’MTUM FANTASHEROO WA LAA MUSTAANESEENA LEHADEES, INNA ZAALEKUM KAANA YOAZIN NABIYYA FAYASTAHYEE MINKUM, WAL LAAHO LAA YASTAHYEE MENAL HAQ, WA EZAA SA-ALTOMOOHUNNA MATAA-A’N FAS-ALOOHUNNA MINW WARAAA-E HEJAAB, ZAALEKUM ATHARO LEQOLOOBEKUM WA QOLOOBEHIN, WA MAA KAANA LAKUM AN TOAZOO RASOOLAL LAAHE WA LAA AN TANKEHOO AZWAAJAHU MIM BA’DEHI ABADAA, INNA ZAALEKUM KAANA I’NDAL LAAHE A’ZEEMAA.

O you who have faith! Do not enter the Prophet’s houses for a meal until you are granted permission, without hanging around for it to be readied. But enter when you are invited, and disperse when you have taken your meal, without cozying up for chats. Such conduct on your part offends the Prophet, and he is ashamed of [asking] you [to leave]; but Allah is not ashamed of [expressing] the truth. When you ask [his] womenfolk for something, do so from behind a curtain. That is more chaste for your hearts and theirs. You should not offend the Apostle of Allah, nor may you ever marry his wives after him. Indeed that would be a grave [sin] with Allah.

اِنْ تُبْدُوْا شَيْئًا اَوْ تُخْفُوْهُ فَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيْمًا‏(54)

IN TUBDOO SHAYAN AW TUKHFOOHO FA-INNAL LAAHA KAANA BEKULLE SHAYIN A’LEEMAA.

Whether you disclose anything or hide it, Allah indeed knows all things.

لَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْهِنَّ فِىْۤ اٰبَآئِهِنَّ وَلَاۤ اَبْنَآئِهِنَّ وَلَاۤ اِخْوَانِهِنَّ وَلَاۤ اَبْنَآءِ اِخْوَانِهِنَّ وَلَاۤ اَبْنَآءِ اَخَوٰتِهِنَّ وَلَا نِسَآئِهِنَّ وَلَا مَا مَلَكَتْ اَيْمَانُهُنَّ ۚ وَاتَّقِيْنَ اللّٰهَ ؕ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَىْءٍ شَهِيْدًا‏(55)

LAA JONAAHA A’LAYHINNA FEE AABAAA-EHINNA WA LAA ABNAAA-EHINNA WA LAA IKHWAANEHINNA WA LAA ABNAAA-E IKHWAANEHINNA WA LAA ABNAAA-E AKHAWAATEHINNA WA LAA NESAAA-EHINNA WA LAA MAA MALAKAT AYMAANOHUN, WAT-TAQEENAL LAAH, INNAL LAAHA KAANA A’LAA KULLE SHAY-IN SHAHEEDAA.

There is no sin on them [in socializing freely] with their fathers, or their sons, or their brothers, or their brothers’ sons, or the sons of their sisters, or their own womenfolk, or what their right hands own. Be wary of Allah. Indeed Allah is witness to all things.

اِنَّ اللّٰهَ وَمَلٰٓئِكَتَهٗ يُصَلُّوْنَ عَلَى النَّبِىِّ ؕ يٰۤاَيُّهَا الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا صَلُّوْا عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُوْا تَسْلِيْمًا‏(56)

INNAL LAAHA WA MALAAA-EKATAHU YOSALLOONA A’LAN NABIYY, YAA AYYOHAL LAZEENA AAMANOO SALLOO A’LAYHE WA SALLEMOO TASLEEMAA.

Indeed Allah and His angels bless the Prophet; O you who have faith! Invoke blessings on him and invoke Peace upon him in a worthy manner.

اِنَّ الَّذِيْنَ يُؤْذُوْنَ اللّٰهَ وَرَسُوْلَهٗ لَعَنَهُمُ اللّٰهُ فِى الدُّنْيَا وَالْاٰخِرَةِ وَاَعَدَّ لَهُمْ عَذَابًا مُّهِيْنًا‏(57)

INNAL LAZEENA YOAZOONAL LAAHA WA RASOOLAHU LA-A’NAHOMUL LAAHO FID DUNYAA WAL AAKHERATE WA-A-A’DDA LAHUM A’ZAABAM MOHEENAA.

Indeed those who offend Allah and His Apostle are cursed by Allah in the world and the Hereafter, and He has prepared a humiliating punishment for them.

وَالَّذِيْنَ يُؤْذُوْنَ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ وَالْمُؤْمِنٰتِ بِغَيْرِ مَا اكْتَسَبُوْا فَقَدِ احْتَمَلُوْا بُهْتَانًا وَّاِثْمًا مُّبِيْنًا‏(58)

WAL LAZEENA YOAZOONAL MOA’MENEENA WAL MOAMENAATE BEGHAYRE MAKTASABOO FAQADEH TAMALOO BOHTAANANW WA ISMAM MOBEENAA.

Those who offend faithful men and women undeservedly, certainly bear the guilt of slander and flagrant sin.

يٰۤاَيُّهَا النَّبِىُّ قُلْ لِّاَزْوَاجِكَ وَبَنٰتِكَ وَنِسَآءِ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ يُدْنِيْنَ عَلَيْهِنَّ مِنْ جَلَابِيْبِهِنَّ ؕ ذٰ لِكَ اَدْنٰٓى اَنْ يُّعْرَفْنَ فَلَا يُؤْذَيْنَ ؕ وَكَانَ اللّٰهُ غَفُوْرًا رَّحِيْمًا‏(59)

YAA AYYOHAN NABIYYO QUL LE-AZWAAJEKA WA BANAATEKA WA NESAAA-IL MOAMENEENA YUDNEENA A’LAYHINNA MIN JALAABEEBEHIN, ZAALEKA ADNAA AY YOA’RAFNA FALAA YOAZAYN, WA KAANAL LAAHO GHAFOORAR RAHEEMAA.

O Prophet! Tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the faithful to draw closely over themselves their chadors [when going out]. That makes it likely for them to be recognized and not be troubled, and Allah is all-forgiving, all-merciful.

لَئِنْ لَّمْ يَنْتَهِ الْمُنٰفِقُوْنَ وَ الَّذِيْنَ فِى قُلُوْبِهِمْ مَّرَضٌ وَّالْمُرْجِفُوْنَ فِى الْمَدِيْنَةِ لَنُغْرِيَنَّكَ بِهِمْ ثُمَّ لَا يُجَاوِرُوْنَكَ فِيْهَاۤ اِلَّا قَلِيْلًا ۛۚ ۖ‏(60)

LAIL LAM YANTAHIL MONAAFEQOONA WAL LAZEENA FEE QOLOOBEHIM MARAZUNW WAL MURJEFOONA FIL MADEENATE LANUGHREYANNAKA BEHIM SUMMA LAA YOJAAWEROONAKA FEEHAA ILLAA QALEELAM.

If the hypocrites and those in whose hearts is a sickness, and the rumourmongers in the city do not desist, We will prompt you [to take action] against them; then they will not be your neighbours in it except briefly.

مَّلْعُوْنِيْنَ ‌ۛۚ اَيْنَمَا ثُقِفُوْۤا اُخِذُوْا وَقُتِّلُوْا تَقْتِيْلًا‏(61)

MAL-O’ONEEN, AYNAMAA SOQEFOO OKHEZOO WA QUTTELOO TAQTEELAA.

Accursed, they will be seized wherever they are confronted and slain violently:

سُنَّةَ اللّٰهِ فِى الَّذِيْنَ خَلَوْا مِنْ قَبْلُۚ وَلَنْ تَجِدَ لِسُنَّةِ اللّٰهِ تَبْدِيْلًا‏(62)

SUNNATAL LAAHE FIL LAZEENA KHALAW MIN QABL, WA LAN TAJEDA LESUNNATIL LAAHE TABDEELAA.

Allah’s precedent with those who passed away before, and you will never find any change in Allah’s precedent.

يَسْئَلُكَ النَّاسُ عَنِ السَّاعَةِؕ قُلْ اِنَّمَا عِلْمُهَا عِنْدَ اللّٰهِؕ وَمَا يُدْرِيْكَ لَعَلَّ السَّاعَةَ تَكُوْنُ قَرِيْبًا‏(63)

YAS-ALOKAN NAASO A’NIS SAA-AH, QUL INNAMAA I’LMOHAA I’NDAL LAAH, WA MAA YUDREEKA LA-A’LLAS SAA-A’TA TAKOONO QAREEBAA.

The people question you concerning the Hour. Say, ‘Its knowledge is only with Allah.’ What do you know, maybe the Hour is near.

اِنَّ اللّٰهَ لَعَنَ الْكٰفِرِيْنَ وَاَعَدَّ لَهُمْ سَعِيْرًا ۙ‏(64)

INNAL LAAHA LA-A’NAL KAAFEREENA WA A-A’DDA LAHUM SA-E’ERAA.

Indeed Allah has cursed the faithless and prepared for them a blaze,

خٰلِدِيْنَ فِيْهَاۤ اَبَدًا ۚ لَا يَجِدُوْنَ وَلِيًّا وَّلَا نَصِيْرًا ۚ‏(65)

KHAALEDEENA FEEHAA ABADAA, LAA YAJEDOONA WALIYYANW WA LAA NASEERAA.

in which they will remain forever, and will not find any guardian or helper.

يَوْمَ تُقَلَّبُ وُجُوْهُهُمْ فِى النَّارِ يَقُوْلُوْنَ يٰلَيْتَنَاۤ اَطَعْنَا اللّٰهَ وَاَطَعْنَا الرَّسُوْلَا‏(66)

YAWMA TOQALLABO WOJOOHOHUM FIN NAARE YAQOOLOONA YAALAYTANAA A-TA’NAL LAAHA WA A-TA’NAR RASOOLA.

The day when their faces are turned about in the Fire, they will say, ‘We wish we had obeyed Allah and obeyed the Apostle!’

وَقَالُوْا رَبَّنَاۤ اِنَّاۤ اَطَعْنَا سَادَتَنَا وَكُبَرَآءَنَا فَاَضَلُّوْنَا السَّبِيْلَا‏(67)

WA QAALOO RABBANA INNAA A-TA’NAA SAADATANAA WA KOBARAAA-ANAA FA-AZALLOONAS SABEELAA.

They will say, ‘Our Lord! We obeyed our leaders and elders, and they led us astray from the way.’

رَبَّنَاۤ اٰتِهِمْ ضِعْفَيْنِ مِنَ الْعَذَابِ وَالْعَنْهُمْ لَعْنًا كَبِيْرًا‏(68)

RABBANAA AATEHIM ZE’FAYNE MENAL A’ZAABE WAL-A’NHUM LA’NAN KABEERAA.

Our Lord! Give them a double punishment and curse them with a mighty curse.’

يٰۤاَيُّهَا الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا لَا تَكُوْنُوْا كَالَّذِيْنَ اٰذَوْا مُوْسٰى فَبَرَّاَهُ اللّٰهُ مِمَّا قَالُوْا ؕ وَكَانَ عِنْدَ اللّٰهِ وَجِيْهًا ؕ‏(69)

YAA AYYOHAL LAZEENA AAMAANO LAA TAKOONOO KALLAZEENA AAZAW MOOSAA FABARRA-AHUL LAAHO MIMMAA QAALOO, WA KAANA I’NDAL LAAHE WAJEEHAA.

O you who have faith! Do not be like those who offended Moses, whereat Allah cleared him of what they alleged, and he was distinguished in Allah’s sight.

يٰۤاَيُّهَا الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ وَقُوْلُوْا قَوْلًا سَدِيْدًا ۙ‏(70)

YAA AYYOHAL LAZEENA AAMANUT TAQUL LAAHA WA QOOLOO QAWLAN SADEEDAY.

O you who have faith! Be wary of Allah, and speak upright words.

يُّصْلِحْ لَكُمْ اَعْمَالَكُمْ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ ذُنُوْبَكُمْؕ وَمَنْ يُّطِعِ اللّٰهَ وَرَسُوْلَهٗ فَقَدْ فَازَ فَوْزًا عَظِيْمًا‏(71)

YUSLEH LAKUM A-A’MAALAKUM WA YAGHFIR LAHUM ZONOOBAKUM, WA MAY YOTE-I’L LAAHA WA RASOOLAHU FAQAD FAAZA FAWZAN A’ZEEMAA.

He will rectify your conduct for you and forgive you your sins. Whoever obeys Allah and His Apostle will certainly achieve a great success.

اِنَّا عَرَضْنَا الْاَمَانَةَ عَلَى السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِ وَالْجِبَالِ فَاَبَيْنَ اَنْ يَّحْمِلْنَهَا وَاَشْفَقْنَ مِنْهَا وَ حَمَلَهَا الْاِنْسَانُؕ اِنَّهٗ كَانَ ظَلُوْمًا جَهُوْلًا ۙ‏(72)

INNAA A’RAZNAL AMAANATA A’LAS SAMAAWAATE WAL ARZE WAL JEBAALE FA-ABYNA AY YAHMILNAHAA WA ASHFAQNA MINHA WA HAMALAHAL INSAAN, INNAHU KAANA ZALOOMAN JAHOOLAL.

Indeed We presented the Trust to the heavens and the earth and the mountains, but they refused to undertake it and were apprehensive of it; but man undertook it. Indeed he is most unjust and ignorant.

لِّيُعَذِّبَ اللّٰهُ الْمُنٰفِقِيْنَ وَالْمُنٰفِقٰتِ وَالْمُشْرِكِيْنَ وَالْمُشْرِكٰتِ وَيَتُوْبَ اللّٰهُ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ وَالْمُؤْمِنٰتِؕ وَكَانَ اللّٰهُ غَفُوْرًا رَّحِيْمًا‏(73)

LE-YO-A’ZZEBAL LAAHUL MONAAFEQEENA WAL-MONAAFEQAATE WAL-MUSHREKEENA WAL-MUSHREKAATE WA YATOOBAL LAAHO A’LAL MOAMENEENA WAL MOA-MENAAT, WA KAANAL LAAHO GHAFOORAR RAHEEMAA.

Allah will surely punish the hypocrites, men and women, and the polytheists, men and women, and Allah will turn clemently to the faithful, men and women, and Allah is all-forgiving, all-merciful.
