27: al-Naml النمل

Text and Translation

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

BISMIL LAAHIR RAHMAANIR RAHEEM

In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful

طٰسٓ‌ تِلْكَ اٰيٰتُ الْقُرْاٰنِ وَكِتَابٍ مُّبِيْنٍۙ‏(1)

TAA SIN! TILKA AAYAATUL QURAANE WA KETAABIM MOBEEN

Ta, Seen. These are the signs of the Quran and a manifest Book,

هُدًى وَّبُشْرٰى لِلْمُؤْمِنِيْنَۙ‏(2)

HODANW WA BUSHRAA LIL-MOMENEENAL

a guidance and good news for the faithful

الَّذِيْنَ يُقِيْمُوْنَ الصَّلٰوةَ وَيُؤْتُوْنَ الزَّكٰوةَ وَ هُمْ بِالْاٰخِرَةِ هُمْ يُوْقِنُوْنَ‏(3)

LAZEENA YOQEEMOONAS SALAATA WA YOATOONAZ ZAKAATA WA HUM BIL AAKHERATE HUM YOOQENOON

—those who maintain the prayer and pay the zakat, and who are certain of the Hereafter.

اِنَّ الَّذِيْنَ لَا يُؤْمِنُوْنَ بِالْاٰخِرَةِ زَيَّنَّا لَهُمْ اَعْمَالَهُمْ فَهُمْ يَعْمَهُوْنَؕ‏(4)

INNAL LAZEENA LAA YOAMENOONA BIL-AAKHERATE ZAYYANNAA LAHUM A-A’MAALAHUM FAHUM YA’MAHOON

As for those who do not believe in the Hereafter, We have made their deeds seem decorous to them, and so they are bewildered.

اُولٰٓئِكَ الَّذِيْنَ لَهُمْ سُوْٓءُ الْعَذَابِ وَهُمْ فِى الْاٰخِرَةِ هُمُ الْاَخْسَرُوْنَ‏(5)

OOLAAA-EKAL LAZEENA LAHUM SOOO-UL A’ZAABE WA HUM FIL AAKHERATE HOMUL AKHSAROON

They are the ones for whom there is a terrible punishment, and they are the ones who will be the biggest losers in the Hereafter.

وَاِنَّكَ لَتُلَقَّى الْقُرْاٰنَ مِنْ لَّدُنْ حَكِيْمٍ عَلِيْمٍ‏(6)

WA INNAKA LATOLAQQAL QURAANA MIL LADUN HAKEEMIN A’LEEM

Indeed you receive the Quran from One who is all-wise, all-knowing.

اِذْ قَالَ مُوْسٰى لِاَهْلِهٖۤ اِنِّىْۤ اٰنَسْتُ نَارًاؕ سَاٰتِيْكُمْ مِّنْهَا بِخَبَرٍ اَوْ اٰتِيْكُمْ بِشِهَابٍ قَبَسٍ لَّعَلَّكُمْ تَصْطَلُوْنَ‏(7)

IZ QAALA MOOSAA LE-AHLIHI INNEE AANASTO NAARAN, SA-AATEEKUM MINHAA BEKHABARIN AW AATEEKUM BESHEHAABIN QABASIL LA-A’LLAKUM TASTALOON

When Moses said to his family, ‘Indeed I descry a fire! I will bring you some news from it, or bring you a firebrand so that you may warm yourselves.’

فَلَمَّا جَآءَهَا نُوْدِىَ اَنْۢ بُوْرِكَ مَنْ فِى النَّارِ وَ مَنْ حَوْلَهَا ؕ وَسُبْحٰنَ اللّٰهِ رَبِّ الْعٰلَمِيْنَ‏(8)

FALAMMAA JAAA-AHAA NOODEYA AM BOOREKA MAN FIN NAARE WA MAN HAWLAHAA, WA SUBHAANAL LAAHE RABBIL A’ALAMEEN

When he came to it, he was called: ‘Blessed is He who is in the fire and who is [as well] around it, and immaculate is Allah, the Lord of all the worlds!’

يٰمُوْسٰۤى اِنَّهٗۤ اَنَا اللّٰهُ الْعَزِيْزُ الْحَكِيْمُۙ‏(9)

YAA MOOSAA INNAHU ANAL LAAHUL A’ZEEZUL HAKEEMO

‘O Moses! Indeed I am Allah, the All-mighty, the All-wise.’

وَاَ لْقِ عَصَاكَ‌ ؕ فَلَمَّا رَاٰهَا تَهْتَزُّ كَاَنَّهَا جَآنٌّ وَّلّٰى مُدْبِرًا وَّلَمْ يُعَقِّبْ‌ ؕ يٰمُوْسٰى لَا تَخَفْ اِنِّىْ لَا يَخَافُ لَدَىَّ الْمُرْسَلُوْنَ ‌ۖ‏(10)

WA ALQE A’SAAKA, FALAMMAA RA-AAHAA TAHTAZZO KA-ANNAHAA JAAANNUW WALLAA MUDBERAWN WA LAM YO-A’QQIB, YAA MOOSAA LAA TAKHAF, INNEE LAA YAKHAAFO LADAYYAL MURSALOON.

‘Throw down your staff!’ When he saw it wriggling, as if it were a snake, he turned his back [to flee], without looking back. ‘O Moses! ‘Do not be afraid. Indeed the apostles are not afraid before Me,

اِلَّا مَنْ ظَلَمَ ثُمَّ بَدَّلَ حُسْنًۢا بَعْدَ سُوْٓءٍ فَاِنِّىْ غَفُوْرٌ رَّحِيْمٌ‏(11)

ILLAA MAN ZALAMA SUMMA BADDALA HUSNAM BA’DA SOOO-IN FA-INNEE GHAFOORUR RAHEEMUN

nor those who do wrong and then make up for [their] fault with goodness, for indeed I am all-forgiving, all-merciful.’

وَاَدْخِلْ يَدَكَ فِىْ جَيْبِكَ تَخْرُجْ بَيْضَآءَ مِنْ غَيْرِ سُوْٓءٍ‌ فِىْ تِسْعِ اٰيٰتٍ اِلٰى فِرْعَوْنَ وَقَوْمِهٖؕ اِنَّهُمْ كَانُوْا قَوْمًا فٰسِقِيْنَ‏(12)

WA ADKHIL YADAKA FEE JAYBEKA TAKHRUJ BAYZAAA-A MIN GHAIRE SOOO-IN, FEE TIS-E’ AAYAATIN ELAA FIRA’WNA WA QAWMEHI, INNAHUM KAANOO QAWMAN FAASEQEEN.

‘Insert your hand into your shirt. It will emerge white and bright, without any fault—among nine signs meant for Pharaoh and his people. Indeed they are a transgressing lot.’

فَلَمَّا جَآءَتْهُمْ اٰيٰتُنَا مُبْصِرَةً قَالُوْا هٰذَا سِحْرٌ مُّبِيْنٌ‌ۚ‏(13)

FALAMMAA JAAA-AHUM AAYAATONAA MUBSERATAN QAALOO HAAZAA SEHRUM MOBEEN.

But when Our signs came to them, as eye-openers, they said, ‘This is plain magic.’

وَجَحَدُوْا بِهَا وَاسْتَيْقَنَتْهَاۤ اَنْفُسُهُمْ ظُلْمًا وَّعُلُوًّا‌ ؕ فَانْظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الْمُفْسِدِيْنَ‏(14)

WA JAHADOO BEHAA WASTAYQANATHAA ANFOSOHUM ZULMAWN WA O’LUWWAA, FANZUR KAYFA KAANA A’AQEBATUL MUFSEDEEN.

They impugned them, wrongfully and out of arrogance, though they were convinced in their hearts [of their veracity]. So observe how the fate of the agents of corruption was!

وَلَقَدْ اٰتَيْنَا دَاوٗدَ وَ سُلَيْمٰنَ عِلْمًا‌ ۚ وَقَالَا الْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ الَّذِىْ فَضَّلَنَا عَلٰى كَثِيْرٍ مِّنْ عِبَادِهِ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ‏(15)

WA LAQAD AATAYNAA DAAWOODA WA SOLAYMAANA I’LMAN, WA QAALAL HAMDO LILLAAHIL LAZEE FAZZALANAA A’LAA KASEERIM MIN E’BAADEHIL MOAMENEEN.

Certainly, We gave knowledge to David and Solomon, and they said, ‘All praise belongs to Allah, who granted us an advantage over many of His faithful servants.’

وَوَرِثَ سُلَيْمٰنُ دَاوٗدَ‌ وَقَالَ يٰۤاَيُّهَا النَّاسُ عُلِّمْنَا مَنْطِقَ الطَّيْرِ وَاُوْتِيْنَا مِنْ كُلِّ شَىْءٍؕ‌ اِنَّ هٰذَا لَهُوَ الْفَضْلُ الْمُبِيْنُ‏(16)

WA WARESA SULAYMAANO DAAWOODA WA QAALA YAA AYYOHAN NAASO U’LLIMNAA MANTEQAT TAYRE WA OOTEENAA MIN KULLE SHAYIN, INNA HAAZAA LAHOWAL FAZLUL MOBEEN

Solomon inherited from David, and he said, ‘O people! We have been taught the speech of the birds, and we have been given out of everything. Indeed this is a manifest advantage.’

وَحُشِرَ لِسُلَيْمٰنَ جُنُوْدُهٗ مِنَ الْجِنِّ وَالْاِنْسِ وَالطَّيْرِ فَهُمْ يُوْزَعُوْنَ‏(17)

WA HOSHERA LESOLAYMAANA JONOODOHU MENAL JINNE WAL INSE WAT-TAYRE FAHUM YOOZA-O’ON

[Once] Solomon’s hosts were marched out for him, comprising jinn, humans and birds, and they were held in check.

حَتّٰٓى اِذَاۤ اَتَوْا عَلٰى وَادِ النَّمْلِۙ قَالَتْ نَمْلَةٌ يّٰۤاَيُّهَا النَّمْلُ ادْخُلُوْا مَسٰكِنَكُمْ‌ۚ لَا يَحْطِمَنَّكُمْ سُلَيْمٰنُ وَجُنُوْدُهٗۙ وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُوْنَ‏(18)

HAATAA EZAA ATAW A’LAA WAADIN NAMLE, QAALAT NAMLATUYN YAA AYYOHAN NAMLUD KHOLOO MASAAKENAKUM, LAA YAHTEMANNAKUM SOLAYMAANO WA JONOODOHU, WA HUM LAA YASHO’ROON.

When they came to the Valley of Ants, an ant said, ‘O ants! Enter your dwellings, lest Solomon and his hosts should trample on you while they are unaware.’

فَتَبَسَّمَ ضَاحِكًا مِّنْ قَوْلِهَا وَقَالَ رَبِّ اَوْزِعْنِىْۤ اَنْ اَشْكُرَ نِعْمَتَكَ الَّتِىْۤ اَنْعَمْتَ عَلَىَّ وَعَلٰى وَالِدَىَّ وَاَنْ اَعْمَلَ صَالِحًا تَرْضٰٮهُ وَاَدْخِلْنِىْ بِرَحْمَتِكَ فِىْ عِبَادِكَ الصّٰلِحِيْنَ‏(19)

FATABASSAMA ZAAHEKAM MIN QAWLEHAA WA QAALA RABBE AWZE’NEE AN ASHKORA NE’MATAKAL LATEE ANA’MTA A’LAYYA WA A’LAA WAALEDAYYA WA AN A-A’MALA SAALEHAN TARZAAHO WA ADKHILNEE BERAHMATEKA FEE E’BAADEKAS SAALEHEEN.

Whereat he smiled, amused at its words, and he said, ‘My Lord! Inspire me to give thanks for Your blessing with which You have blessed me and my parents, and that I may do righteous deeds which please You, and admit me, by Your mercy, among Your righteous servants.’

وَتَفَقَّدَ الطَّيْرَ فَقَالَ مَا لِىَ لَاۤ اَرَى الْهُدْهُدَ ‌ۖ  اَمْ كَانَ مِنَ الْغَآئِبِيْنَ‏(20)

WA TAFAQQADAT TAYRA FAQAALA MAA LEYA LAA ARAL HUDHODA, AM KAANA MENAL GHAAEBEEN.

[One day] he reviewed the birds, and said, ‘Why do I not see the hoopoe? Or is he absent?’

لَاُعَذِّبَنَّهٗ عَذَابًا شَدِيْدًا اَوْ لَا۟اَذْبَحَنَّهٗۤ اَوْ لَيَاْتِيَنِّىْ بِسُلْطٰنٍ مُّبِيْنٍ‏(21)

LA-O-A’ZZEBANNAHU A’ZAABAN SHADEEDAN AWLAA AZBAHANNAHU AWLAYAATEYANNEE BESULTANIM MOBEEN.

‘I will punish him with a severe punishment, or I will behead him, unless he brings me a credible excuse.’

فَمَكَثَ غَيْرَ بَعِيْدٍ فَقَالَ اَحَطْتُّ بِمَا لَمْ تُحِطْ بِهٖ وَ جِئْتُكَ مِنْ سَبَاٍۢ بِنَبَاٍ يَّقِيْنٍ‏(22)

FAMAKASA GHAYRO BA-E’EDIN FAQAALA AHATTO BEMAA LAM TOHIT BEHI WA JE’TOKA MIN SABA-IM BENABAIYN YAQEEN

He did not stay for long [before he turned up] and said, ‘I have alighted on something which you have not alighted on, and I have brought you from Sheba a definite report.

اِنِّىْ وَجَدتُّ امْرَاَةً تَمْلِكُهُمْ وَاُوْتِيَتْ مِنْ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ وَّلَهَا عَرْشٌ عَظِيْمٌ‏(23)

INNEE WAJADTUM RA-ATAN TAMLEKOHUM WA OOTEYAT MIN KULLE SHAY-IWN WA LAHAA A’RSHUN A’ZEEM.

I found a woman ruling over them, and she has been given everything, and she has a great throne.

وَجَدْتُّهَا وَقَوْمَهَا يَسْجُدُوْنَ لِلشَّمْسِ مِنْ دُوْنِ اللّٰهِ وَزَيَّنَ لَهُمُ الشَّيْطٰنُ اَعْمَالَهُمْ فَصَدَّهُمْ عَنِ السَّبِيْلِ فَهُمْ لَا يَهْتَدُوْنَۙ‏(24)

WA JADTOHAA WA QAWMAHAA YASJODOONA LISH-SHAMSE MIN DOONIL LAAHE WA ZAYYANA LAHOMUSH SHAYTAANO A-A’MAALAHUM FASADDATHUM A’NIS SABEELE FAHUM LAA YAHTADOON.

I found her and her people prostrating to the sun instead of Allah, and Satan has made their deeds seem decorous to them—thus he has barred them from the way [of Allah], so they are not guided—

اَلَّا يَسْجُدُوْا لِلّٰهِ الَّذِىْ يُخْرِجُ الْخَبْءَ فِى السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِ وَيَعْلَمُ مَا تُخْفُوْنَ وَمَا تُعْلِنُوْنَ‏(25)

ALLAAYASJODOO LILLAAHIL LAAZEE YUKHREJUL KHAB-A FIS SAMAAWAATE WAL-ARZE WA YA’LAMO MA TUKHFOONA WA MAA TO’LENOON.

so that they do not prostrate themselves to Allah, who brings forth the hidden in the heavens and the earth, and He knows whatever you hide and whatever you disclose.

اَللّٰهُ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا هُوَ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيْمِ ۩‏(26)

ALLAAHO LAA ELAAHA ILLAA HOWA RABBUL A’RSHIL A’ZEEM

Allah—there is no god except Him—is the Lord of the Great Throne.’

قَالَ سَنَنْظُرُ اَصَدَقْتَ اَمْ كُنْتَ مِنَ الْكٰذِبِيْنَ‏(27)

QAALA SANANZORO A-SADAQTA AM KUNTA MENAL KAAZEBEEN

He said, ‘We shall see whether you are truthful, or if you are one of the liars.

اِذْهَبْ بِّكِتٰبِىْ هٰذَا فَاَلْقِهْ اِلَيْهِمْ ثُمَّ تَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ فَانْظُرْ مَاذَا يَرْجِعُوْنَ‏(28)

IZHAB BEKETAABEE HAAZAA FA-ALQEH ELAYHIM SUMMA TAWALLA A’NHUM FANZUR MAA ZAA YARJE-O’ON

Take this letter of mine and deliver it to them. Then draw away from them and observe what [response] they return.’

قَالَتْ يٰۤاَيُّهَا الْمَلَؤُا اِنِّىْۤ اُلْقِىَ اِلَىَّ كِتٰبٌ كَرِيْمٌ‏(29)

QAALAT YAA-AYYOHAL MALA-O INNEE ULQEYA ELAYYA KETAABUN KAREEM.

She said, ‘O [members of the] elite! Indeed a noble letter has been delivered to me.

اِنَّهٗ مِنْ سُلَيْمٰنَ وَاِنَّهٗ بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِۙ‏(30)

INNAHU MEN SOLAYMAANA WA INNAHU BISMIL LAAHIR RAHMAANIR RAHEEM.

It is from Solomon, and it begins in the name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.

اَلَّا تَعْلُوْا عَلَىَّ وَاْتُوْنِىْ مُسْلِمِيْنَ‏(31)

ALLAA TA’LOO A’LAYYA WAATOONEE MUSLEMEEN.

[It states,] ‘‘Do not defy me, and come to me in submission.’’ ’

قَالَتْ يٰۤاَيُّهَا الْمَلَؤُا اَفْتُوْنِىْ فِىْۤ اَمْرِىْ‌ۚ مَا كُنْتُ قَاطِعَةً اَمْرًا حَتّٰى تَشْهَدُوْنِ‏(32)

QAALAT YAA AYYOHAL MALAO AFTOONEE FEE AMREE, MAA KUNTO QAATE-A’TAN AMRAN HATTAA TASH-HADOON

She said, ‘O [members of the] elite! Give me your opinion concerning my matter. I do not decide any matter until you are present.’

قَالُوْا نَحْنُ اُولُوْا قُوَّةٍ وَّاُولُوْا بَاْسٍ شَدِيْدٍ ۙ وَّالْاَمْرُ اِلَيْكِ فَانْظُرِىْ مَاذَا تَاْمُرِيْنَ‏(33)

QAALOO NAHNO OOLOO QUWWATIWN WA OOLOO BAA-SIN SHADEED, WAL AMRO ELAYKA FANZUR MAA ZAA TAAMOREEN.

They said, ‘We are powerful and possess a great might. But it is up to you to command. So consider what orders you will give.’

قَالَتْ اِنَّ الْمُلُوْكَ اِذَا دَخَلُوْا قَرْيَةً اَفْسَدُوْهَا وَجَعَلُوْۤا اَعِزَّةَ اَهْلِهَاۤ اَذِلَّةً ‌ۚ وَكَذٰلِكَ يَفْعَلُوْنَ‏(34)

QAALAT INNAL MOLOOKA IZAA DAKHALOO QARYATAN AFSADOOHAA WA JA-A’LOO A-I’ZZATA AHLEHAA AZILLATAH, WA KAZAALEKA YAF-A’LOON.

She said, ‘Indeed when kings enter a town, they devastate it, and make the mightiest of its people the weakest. That is how they act.

وَاِنِّىْ مُرْسِلَةٌ اِلَيْهِمْ بِهَدِيَّةٍ فَنٰظِرَةٌۢ بِمَ يَرْجِعُ الْمُرْسَلُوْنَ‏(35)

WA INNEE MURSELATUN ELAYHIM BEHADIYYATIN FANAAZERATUM BEMA YARJE-O’L MURSALOON.

I will send them a gift, and see what the envoys bring back.’

فَلَمَّا جَآءَ سُلَيْمٰنَ قَالَ اَتُمِدُّوْنَنِ بِمَالٍ فَمَاۤ اٰتٰٮنِۦَ اللّٰهُ خَيْرٌ مِّمَّاۤ اٰتٰٮكُمْ‌ۚ بَلْ اَنْتُمْ بِهَدِيَّتِكُمْ تَفْرَحُوْنَ‏(36)

FALAMMAA JAAA-A SULAYMAANA QAALA ATOMIDDOONANE BEMAALIN, FAMAA AATAANEYAL LAAHO KHAYRUM MIMMAA AATAAKUM, BAL ANTUM BEHADIYYATEKUM TAFRAHOON.

So when he came to Solomon, he said, ‘Are you aiding me with wealth? What Allah has given me is better than what He has given you. Indeed, you are proud of your gift!

اِرْجِعْ اِلَيْهِمْ فَلَنَاْتِيَنَّهُمْ بِجُنُوْدٍ لَّا قِبَلَ لَهُمْ بِهَا وَلَنُخْرِجَنَّهُمْ مِّنْهَاۤ اَذِلَّةً وَّهُمْ صٰغِرُوْنَ‏(37)

IRJE’ ELAYHIM FALANAATEYANNAHUM BEJONOODIL LAA QEBALA LAHUM BEHAA WA LANUKHREJANNAHUM MINHAA AZILLATAWAN WA HUM SAAGHEROON.

Go back to them, for we will come at them with hosts which they cannot face, and we will expel them from it, abased and degraded.’

قَالَ يٰۤاَيُّهَا الْمَلَؤُا اَيُّكُمْ يَاْتِيْنِىْ بِعَرْشِهَا قَبْلَ اَنْ يَّاْتُوْنِىْ مُسْلِمِيْنَ‏(38)

QAALA YAA-AYYOHAL MALA-O AYYOKUM YAATEENEE BE-A’RSHEHAA QABLA AYN YAATOONEE MUSLEMEEN.

He said, ‘O [members of the] elite! Which of you will bring me her throne before they come to me in submission?’

قَالَ عِفْرِيْتٌ مِّنَ الْجِنِّ اَنَا اٰتِيْكَ بِهٖ قَبْلَ اَنْ تَقُوْمَ مِنْ مَّقَامِكَ‌ۚ وَاِنِّىْ عَلَيْهِ لَقَوِىٌّ اَمِيْنٌ‏(39)

QAALA I’FREETUM MENAL JINNE ANAA AATEEKA BEHI QABLA AN TAQOOMA MIM MAQAAMEK, WA INNEE A’LAYHE LAQAWIYYUN AMEEN.

An afreet from among the jinn said, ‘I will bring it to you before you rise from your place. I have the power to do it and am trustworthy.’

قَالَ الَّذِىْ عِنْدَهٗ عِلْمٌ مِّنَ الْكِتٰبِ اَنَا اٰتِيْكَ بِهٖ قَبْلَ اَنْ يَّرْتَدَّ اِلَيْكَ طَرْفُكَ‌ؕ فَلَمَّا رَاٰهُ مُسْتَقِرًّا عِنْدَهٗ قَالَ هٰذَا مِنْ فَضْلِ رَبِّىْ‌ۖ لِيَبْلُوَنِىْٓ ءَاَشْكُرُ اَمْ اَكْفُرُ‌ؕ وَمَنْ شَكَرَ فَاِنَّمَا يَشْكُرُ لِنَفْسِهٖ‌ۚ وَمَنْ كَفَرَ فَاِنَّ رَبِّىْ غَنِىٌّ كَرِيْمٌ‏(40)

QAALAL LAZEE I’NDAHU I’LMUM MENAL KETAABE ANAA AATEEKA BEHI QABLA AYN YARTADDA ELAYKA TARFOK, FALAMMAA RA-AAHO MUSTAQIRRAN I’NDAHU QAALAA HAAZAA MIN FAZLE RABBEE, LEYABLOWANEE, A-ASHKORO AM AKFOR, WA MAN SHAKARA FA-INNAMAA YASHKORO LENAFSEHI, WA MAN KAFARA FA-INNA RABBEE GHANIYYUN KAREEM.

The one who had knowledge of the Book said, ‘I will bring it to you in the twinkling of an eye.’ So when he saw it set near him, he said, ‘This is by the grace of my Lord, to test me if I will give thanks or be ungrateful. Whoever gives thanks, gives thanks only for his own sake. And whoever is ungrateful [should know that] my Lord is indeed all-sufficient, all-generous.’

قَالَ نَكِّرُوْا لَهَا عَرْشَهَا نَنْظُرْ اَتَهْتَدِىْۤ اَمْ تَكُوْنُ مِنَ الَّذِيْنَ لَا يَهْتَدُوْنَ‏(41)

QAALA NAKKEROO LAHAA A’RSHAHAA NANZOR ATAHTADEE AM TAKOONO MENAL LAZEENA LAA YAHTADOON.

He said, ‘Disguise her throne for her, so that we may see whether she is discerning or if she is one of the undiscerning ones.’

فَلَمَّا جَآءَتْ قِيْلَ اَهٰكَذَا عَرْشُكِ‌ؕ قَالَتْ كَاَنَّهٗ هُوَ‌ۚ وَاُوْتِيْنَا الْعِلْمَ مِنْ قَبْلِهَا وَ كُنَّا مُسْلِمِيْنَ‏(42)

FALAMMAA JAAA-AT QEELA A-HAAKAZAA A’RSHOK, QAALAT KA-ANNAHU HOO, WA OOTEENAL I’LMA MIN QABLEHAA WA KUNNAA MUSLEMEEN.

So when she came, it was said [to her], ‘Is your throne like this one?’ She said, ‘It seems to be the same, and we were informed before it, and we had submitted.’

وَصَدَّهَا مَا كَانَتْ تَّعْبُدُ مِنْ دُوْنِ اللّٰهِ‌ؕ اِنَّهَا كَانَتْ مِنْ قَوْمٍ كٰفِرِيْنَ‏(43)

WA SADDAHAA MAA KAANAT TA’BODO MIN DOONIL LAAH, INNAHAA QAANAT MIN QAWMIN KAAFEREEN.

She had been barred [from the way of Allah] by what she used to worship besides Allah, for she belonged to a faithless people.

قِيْلَ لَهَا ادْخُلِى الصَّرْحَ‌ ۚ فَلَمَّا رَاَتْهُ حَسِبَتْهُ لُجَّةً وَّكَشَفَتْ عَنْ سَاقَيْهَا ‌ؕ قَالَ اِنَّهٗ صَرْحٌ مُّمَرَّدٌ مِّنْ قَوَارِيْرَ ۙ‌قَالَتْ رَبِّ اِنِّىْ ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِىْ وَ اَسْلَمْتُ مَعَ سُلَيْمٰنَ لِلّٰهِ رَبِّ الْعٰلَمِيْنَ‏(44)

QEELA LAHAD KHOLIS SARH, FALAMMAA RA-ATHO HASEBATHO LUJJATAWN WA KASHAFAT A’N SAAQAYHAA, QAALA INNAHU SARHUM MOMARRADUM MIN QAWAAREER, QAALAT RABBE INNEE ZALAMTO NAFSEE WA ASLAMTO MA-A’ SOLAYMAANA LILLAAHE RABBIL A-A’LAMEEN.

It was said to her, ‘Enter the palace.’ So when she saw it, she supposed it to be a pool of water, and she bared her shanks. He said, ‘It is a palace paved with crystal.’ She said, ‘My Lord! Indeed I have wronged myself, and I submit with Solomon to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds.’

وَلَقَدْ اَرْسَلْنَاۤ اِلٰى ثَمُوْدَ اَخَاهُمْ صٰلِحًا اَنِ اعْبُدُوْا اللّٰهَ فَاِذَا هُمْ فَرِيْقٰنِ يَخْتَصِمُوْنَ‏(45)

WA LAQAD ARSALNAA ELAA SAMOODA AKHAAHUM SAALEHAN ANE’BODUL LAALA FA-IZAA HUM FAREEQAANE YAKHTASEMOON.

Certainly We sent to Thamud Salih, their brother, [with the summons:] ‘Worship Allah!’ But thereat they became two groups contending with each other.

قَالَ يٰقَوْمِ لِمَ تَسْتَعْجِلُوْنَ بِالسَّيِّئَةِ قَبْلَ الْحَسَنَةِ‌‌ۚ لَوْلَا تَسْتَغْفِرُوْنَ اللّٰهَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُوْنَ‏(46)

QAALA YAA QAWME LEMA TAS-TA’JELOONA BIS-SAYYEATE QABLAL HASANATE, LAWLAA TASTAGHFEROONAL LAAHA LA-A’LLAKUM TURHAMOON.

He said, ‘O My people! Why do you press for evil sooner than for good? Why do you not plead to Allah for forgiveness so that you may receive His mercy?’

قَالُوا اطَّيَّرْنَا بِكَ وَبِمَنْ مَّعَكَ‌ ؕ قَالَ طٰٓئِرُكُمْ عِنْدَ اللّٰهِ‌ بَلْ اَنْتُمْ قَوْمٌ تُفْتَنُوْنَ‏(47)

QAALUT TAYYARNAA BEKA WA BEMAM MA-A’K, QAALA TAAA-EROKUM I’NDAL LAAHE BAL ANTUM QAWMUN TUFTANOON.

They said, ‘We take you and those who are with you for a bad omen.’ He said, ‘Your bad omens are from Allah. Indeed, you are a people being tested.’

وَكَانَ فِى الْمَدِيْنَةِ تِسْعَةُ رَهْطٍ يُّفْسِدُوْنَ فِى الْاَرْضِ وَلَا يُصْلِحُوْنَ‏(48)

WA KAANA FIL MADEENATE TIS-A’TO RAHTIYN YUFSEDOONA FIL ARZE WA LAA YUSLEHOON.

There were nine persons in the city who caused corruption in the land and did not set things right.

قَالُوْا تَقَاسَمُوْا بِاللّٰهِ لَنُبَيِّتَنَّهٗ وَ اَهْلَهٗ ثُمَّ لَنَقُوْلَنَّ لِوَلِيِّهٖ مَا شَهِدْنَا مَهْلِكَ اَهْلِهٖ وَاِنَّا لَصٰدِقُوْنَ‏(49)

QAALOO TAQAASAMOO BILLAAHE LANOFAYYETANNAHU WA AHLAHU SUMMA LANAQOOLANNA LEWALIYYEHI MAA SHAHIDNAA MAHLEKA AHLEHI WA INNAA LASAADEQOON.

They said, ‘Swear by Allah that we will attack him and his family by night. Then we will tell his heir that we were not present at the murder of his family and that we speak the truth.’

وَمَكَرُوْا مَكْرًا وَّمَكَرْنَا مَكْرًا وَّهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُوْنَ‏(50)

WA MAKAROO MAKRAWN WA MAKARNAA MAKRAWN WA HUM LAA YASH-O’ROON

They devised a plot, and We [too] devised a plan, but they were not aware.

فَانْظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ مَكْرِهِمْۙ اَنَّا دَمَّرْنٰهُمْ وَقَوْمَهُمْ اَجْمَعِيْنَ‏(51)

FANZUR KAYFA KAANA A’AQEBATO MAKREHIM, ANNAA DAMMARNAAHUM WA QAWMAHUM AJMA-E’EN.

So observe how was the outcome of their plotting, as We destroyed them and all their people.

فَتِلْكَ بُيُوْتُهُمْ خَاوِيَةً ۢ بِمَا ظَلَمُوْا‌ ؕ اِنَّ فِىْ ذٰ لِكَ لَاٰيَةً لِّقَوْمٍ يَّعْلَمُوْنَ‏(52)

FATILKA BOYOOTOHUM KHAAWEYATAM BEMAA ZALAMOO, INNA FEE ZAALEKA LA-AAYATAL LEQAWMIYN YA’LAMOON.

So there lay their houses, fallen in ruin because of their wrongdoing. There is indeed a sign in that for a people who have knowledge.

وَاَنْجَيْنَا الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا وَكَانُوْا يَتَّقُوْنَ‏(53)

WA ANJAYNAL LAZEENA AAMANOO WA KAANOO YATTAQOON.

And We delivered those who had faith and were Godwary.

وَلُوْطًا اِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهٖۤ اَتَاْتُوْنَ الْفَاحِشَةَ وَاَنْتُمْ تُبْصِرُوْنَ‏(54)

WA LOOTAN IZ QAALA LEQAWMEHI ATAATOONAL FAAHESHATA WA ANTUM TUBSERAOON.

[We also sent] Lot, when he said to his people, ‘What! Do you commit this indecency while you look on?

اَئِنَّكُمْ لَتَاْتُوْنَ الرِّجَالَ شَهْوَةً مِّنْ دُوْنِ النِّسَآءِ‌ؕ بَلْ اَنْتُمْ قَوْمٌ تَجْهَلُوْنَ‏(55)

A-INNAKUM LATAATOO NAR REJAALA SHAHWATAM MIN DOONIN NESAAA, BAL ANTUM QAWMUN TAJHALOON.

Do you approach men with [sexual] desire instead of women?! Indeed, you are a senseless lot!’

فَمَا كَانَ جَوَابَ قَوْمِهٖۤ اِلَّاۤ اَنْ قَالُوْۤا اَخْرِجُوْۤا اٰلَ لُوْطٍ مِّنْ قَرْيَتِكُمْ‌ۚ اِنَّهُمْ اُنَاسٌ يَّتَطَهَّرُوْنَ‏(56)

FAMAA KAANA JAWAABA QAWMEHI ILLAA AN QAALOO AKHREJOO AALA LOOTIM MIN QARYATEKUM, INNAHUM ONAASUYN YATATAHHAROON.

But the only answer of his people was that they said, ‘Expel Lot’s family from your town! They are indeed a puritanical lot.’

فَاَنْجَيْنٰهُ وَ اَهْلَهٗۤ اِلَّا امْرَاَتَهٗ قَدَّرْنٰهَا مِنَ الْغٰبِرِيْنَ‏(57)

FA-ANJAYNAAHO WA AHLAHU ILLAM RA-ATAHU, QADDARNAAHAA MENAL GHAABEREEN.

So We delivered him and his family, except his wife. We ordained her to be among those who remained behind.

وَاَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ مَّطَرًا‌ۚ فَسَآءَ مَطَرُ الْمُنْذَرِيْنَ‏(58)

58: WA AMTARNAA A’LAYHIM MATARAA, FA-SAAA-A MATARUL MUNZEREEN.

Then We poured down upon them a rain [of stones]. Evil was that rain for those who had been warned!

قُلِ الْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ وَسَلٰمٌ عَلٰى عِبَادِهِ الَّذِيْنَ اصْطَفٰىؕ ءٰۤللّٰهُ خَيْرٌ اَمَّا يُشْرِكُوْنَؕ‏(59)

QOLIL HAMDO LILLAAHE WA SALAAMUN A’LAA E’BAADEHIL LAZEENAS TAFAA, AALLAAHO KHAYRUN AMMAA YUSHREKOON.

Say, ‘All praise belongs to Allah, and Peace be to the servants whom He has chosen.’ Is Allah better, or the partners they ascribe [to Him]?

اَمَّنْ خَلَقَ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضَ وَاَنْزَلَ لَكُمْ مِّنَ السَّمَآءِ مَآءً‌ ۚ فَاَنْۢبَتْنَا بِهٖ حَدَآئِقَ ذَاتَ بَهْجَةٍ‌ ۚ مَا كَانَ لَكُمْ اَنْ تُنْۢبِتُوْا شَجَرَهَا ؕ ءَاِلٰهٌ مَّعَ اللّٰهِ‌ ؕ بَلْ هُمْ قَوْمٌ يَّعْدِلُوْنَ ؕ‏(60)

AMMAN KHALAQAS SAMAAWAATE WAL ARZA WA ANZALA LAKUM MENAS SAMAAA-E MAAA-A, FA-AMBATNAA BEHI HADAAA-EQA ZAATA BAHJAH, MAA KAANA LAKUM AN TUMBETOO SHAJARAHAA, A-ELAAHUM MA-A’L LAAH, BAL HUM QAUMUYN YA’DELOON.

Is He who created the heavens and the earth, and sends down for you water from the sky, whereby We grow delightful gardens, whose trees you could never cause to grow...? What! Is there a god besides Allah? Indeed, they are a lot who equate [others with Allah].

اَمَّنْ جَعَلَ الْاَرْضَ قَرَارًا وَّجَعَلَ خِلٰلَهَاۤ اَنْهٰرًا وَّجَعَلَ لَهَا رَوَاسِىَ وَجَعَلَ بَيْنَ الْبَحْرَيْنِ حَاجِزًا‌ ؕ ءَاِلٰهٌ مَّعَ اللّٰهِ‌ ؕ بَلْ اَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُوْنَ ؕ‏(61)

AMMAN JA-A’LAL ARZA QARAARAWN WA JA-A’LA KHELAALAHAA ANHAARAWN WA JA-A’LA LAHAA RAWAASEYA WA JA-A’LA BAYNAL BAHRAYNE HAAJEZAA, A-ELAAHUM MA-A’L LAAH, BAL AKSAROHUM LAA YA’LAMOON.

Is He who made the earth an abode [for you], and made rivers [flowing] through it, and set firm mountains for it [’s stability], and set a barrier between the two seas...? What! Is there a god besides Allah? Indeed, most of them do not know.

اَمَّنْ يُّجِيْبُ الْمُضْطَرَّ اِذَا دَعَاهُ وَيَكْشِفُ السُّوْٓءَ وَيَجْعَلُكُمْ خُلَفَآءَ الْاَرْضِ‌ ؕ ءَاِلٰهٌ مَّعَ اللّٰهِ ‌ؕ قَلِيْلًا مَّا تَذَكَّرُوْنَ ؕ‏(62)

AMMAYN YOJEEBUL MUZTARRA EZAA DA-A’AHO WA YAKSHEFUS SOOO-A WA YAJ-A’LOKUM KHOLAFAAA-AL ARZ, A-ELAAHUM MA-A’L LAAH, QALEELAM MAA TAZAKKAROON.

Is He who answers the call of the distressed [person] when he invokes Him and removes his distress, and makes you successors on the earth...? What! Is there a god besides Allah? Little is the admonition that you take.

اَمَّنْ يَّهْدِيْكُمْ فِىْ ظُلُمٰتِ الْبَرِّ وَ الْبَحْرِ وَمَنْ يُّرْسِلُ الرِّيٰحَ بُشْرًۢا بَيْنَ يَدَىْ رَحْمَتِهٖؕ ءَاِلٰهٌ مَّعَ اللّٰهِ‌ؕ تَعٰلَى اللّٰهُ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُوْنَؕ‏(63)

AMMAYN YAHDEEKUM FEE ZOLOMAATIL BARRE WAL BAHRE WA MAYN YURSELUR REYAAHA BUSHRAM BAYNA YADAY RAHMATEH, A-ELAAHUM MA-A’L LAAH, TA-A’ALAL LAAHO A’MMAA YUSHREKOON.

Is He who guides you in the darkness of land and sea and who sends the winds as harbingers of His mercy...? What! Is there a god besides Allah? Exalted is Allah above [having] any partners that they ascribe [to Him].

اَمَّنْ يَّبْدَؤُا الْخَلْقَ ثُمَّ يُعِيْدُهٗ وَمَنْ يَّرْزُقُكُمْ مِّنَ السَّمَآءِ وَالْاَرْضِ‌ؕ ءَاِلٰهٌ مَّعَ اللّٰهِ‌ؕ قُلْ هَاتُوْا بُرْهَانَكُمْ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ صٰدِقِيْنَ‏(64)

AMMAYN YABDAUL KHALQA SUMMA YO-E’EDOHU WA MAYN YARZOQOKUM MENAS SAMAAA-E WAL-ARZ, A-ELAAHUM MA-A’L LAAH, QUL HAATOO BURHAANAKUM IN KUNTUM SAADEQEEN.

Is He who originates the creation, then He will bring it back, and who provides for you from the sky and the earth...? What! Is there a god besides Allah? Say, ‘Produce your evidence, if you are truthful.’

قُلْ لَّا يَعْلَمُ مَنْ فِى السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِ الْغَيْبَ اِلَّا اللّٰهُ‌ؕ وَمَا يَشْعُرُوْنَ اَيَّانَ يُبْعَثُوْنَ‏(65)

QUL LAA YA’LAMO MAN FIS SAMAAWAATE WAL-ARZIL GHAYBA ILLAL LAAH, WA MAA YASHO’ROONA AYYAANA YUB-A’SOON.

Say, ‘No one in the heavens or the earth knows the Unseen except Allah, and they are not aware when they will be resurrected.’

بَلِ ادّٰرَكَ عِلْمُهُمْ فِى الْاٰخِرَةِ‌ بَلْ هُمْ فِىْ شَكٍّ مِّنْهَا  بَلْ هُمْ مِّنْهَا عَمُوْنَ‏(66)

BALID DAARAKA I’LMOHUM FIL AAKHERAH, BAL HUM FEE SHAKKIM MINHAA, BAL HUM MINHAA A’MOON.

Do they comprehend the knowledge of the Hereafter? No, they are in doubt about it. Indeed, they are blind to it.

وَقَالَ الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْۤا ءَاِذَا كُنَّا تُرٰبًا وَّاٰبَآؤُنَاۤ اَئِنَّا لَمُخْرَجُوْنَ‏(67)

WA QAALAL LAZEENA KAFAROO A-EZAA KUNNAA TORAABAWN WA AABAAA-ONAA A-INNAA LAMUKHRAJOON.

The faithless say, ‘What! When we and our fathers have become dust shall we be raised [from the dead]?

لَقَدْ وُعِدْنَا هٰذَا نَحْنُ وَاٰبَآؤُنَا مِنْ قَبْلُۙ اِنْ هٰذَاۤ اِلَّاۤ اَسَاطِيْرُ الْاَوَّلِيْنَ‏(68)

LAQAD WO-I’DNAA HAAZAA NAHNO WA AABAAA-ONAA MIN QABLO, IN HAAZAA ILLAA ASAATEERUL AWWALEEN.

We and our fathers were promised this before. [But] these are just myths of the ancients.’

قُلْ سِيْرُوْا فِى الْاَرْضِ فَانْظُرُوْا كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الْمُجْرِمِيْنَ‏(69)

QUL SEEROO FIL ARZE FANZOROO KAYFA KAANA A’AQEBATUL MUJREMEEN.

Say, ‘Travel over the land and observe how was the fate of the guilty.’

وَلَا تَحْزَنْ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا تَكُنْ فِىْ ضَيْقٍ مِّمَّا يَمْكُرُوْنَ‏(70)

WA LAA TAHZAN A’LAYHIM WA LAA TAKUN FEE ZAYQIM MIMMAA YAMKOROON.

Do not grieve for them, and do not be upset by their guile.

وَيَقُوْلُوْنَ مَتٰى هٰذَا الْوَعْدُ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ صٰدِقِيْنَ‏(71)

WA YAQOOLOONA MATAA HAAZAL WA’DO IN KUNTUM SAADEQEEN.

They say, ‘When will this promise be fulfilled, if you are truthful?’

قُلْ عَسٰٓى اَنْ يَّكُوْنَ رَدِفَ لَكُمْ بَعْضُ الَّذِىْ تَسْتَعْجِلُوْنَ‏(72)

QUL A’SAA AYN YAKOONA RADEFA LAKUM BA’ZUL LAZEE TASTA’JELOON.

Say, ‘Perhaps there is right behind you some of what you seek to hasten.’

وَاِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَذُوْ فَضْلٍ عَلَى النَّاسِ وَلٰكِنَّ اَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَشْكُرُوْنَ‏(73)

WA INNA RABBAKA LAZOO FAZLIN A’LAN NAASE WA LAAKINNA AKSARAHUM LAA YASHKOROON.

Indeed your Lord is gracious to mankind, but most of them do not give thanks.

وَاِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَيَعْلَمُ مَا تُكِنُّ صُدُوْرُهُمْ وَمَا يُعْلِنُوْنَ‏(74)

WA INNA RABBAKA LA-YA’LAMO MAA TOKINNO SODOOROHUM WA MAA YO’LENOON.

Your Lord knows whatever their breasts conceal, and whatever they disclose.

وَمَا مِنْ غَآئِبَةٍ فِى السَّمَآءِ وَالْاَرْضِ اِلَّا فِىْ كِتٰبٍ مُّبِيْنٍ‏(75)

WA MAA MIN GHAAA-EBATIN FIS SAMAAA-E WAL ARZE ILLAA FEE KETAABIM MOBEEN.

There is no invisible thing in the heaven and the earth but it is in a manifest Book.

اِنَّ هٰذَا الْقُرْاٰنَ يَقُصُّ عَلٰى بَنِىْۤ اِسْرَآءِيْلَ اَكْثَرَ الَّذِىْ هُمْ فِيْهِ يَخْتَلِفُوْنَ‏(76)

INNA HAAZAL QURAANA YAQUSSO A’LAA BANEE ISRAAA-EELA AKSARAL LAZEE HUM FEEHE YAKHTALEFOON.

This Quran recounts for the Children of Israel most of what they differ about,

وَاِنَّهٗ لَهُدًى وَّرَحْمَةٌ لِّلْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ‏(77)

WA INNAHU LAHODAWN WA RAHMATUL LIL-MOAMENEEN.

and it is indeed a guidance and mercy for the faithful.

اِنَّ رَبَّكَ يَقْضِىْ بَيْنَهُمْ بِحُكْمِهٖ‌ۚ وَهُوَ الْعَزِيْزُ الْعَلِيْمُ ۙ‌ۚ‏(78)

INNA RABBAKA YAQZEE BAYNAHUM BEHUKMEH, WA HOWAL A’ZEEZUL A’LEEM.

Your Lord will decide between them by His judgement, and He is the All-mighty, the All-knowing.

فَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اللّٰهِ‌ؕ اِنَّكَ عَلَى الْحَقِّ الْمُبِيْنِ‏(79)

FATAWAKKAL A’LAL LAAH, INNAKA A’LAL HAQQIL MOBEEN.

So put your trust in Allah, for you indeed stand on the manifest truth.

اِنَّكَ لَا تُسْمِعُ الْمَوْتٰى وَلَا تُسْمِعُ الصُّمَّ الدُّعَآءَ اِذَا وَلَّوْا مُدْبِرِيْنَ‏(80)

INNAKA LAA TUSME-U’L MAWTAA WA LAA TUSME-U’S SUMMAD DO-A’AA-A EZAA WALLAW MUDBEREEN.

You cannot make the dead hear, nor can you make the deaf listen to your call when they turn their backs,

وَمَاۤ اَنْتَ بِهٰدِى الْعُمْىِ عَنْ ضَلٰلَتِهِمْ‌ؕ اِنْ تُسْمِعُ اِلَّا مَنْ يُّؤْمِنُ بِاٰيٰتِنَا فَهُمْ مُّسْلِمُوْنَ‏(81)

WA MAA ANTA BEHAADIL U’MYE A’N ZALAALATEHIM, IN TUSME-O’ ILLAA MAYN YOAMENO BE-AAYAATENAA FAHUM MUSLEMOON.

nor can you lead the blind out of their error. You can make only those hear you who believe in Our signs and have submitted.

وَ اِذَا وَقَعَ الْقَوْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ اَخْرَجْنَا لَهُمْ دَآبَّةً مِّنَ الْاَرْضِ تُكَلِّمُهُمْۙ اَنَّ النَّاسَ كَانُوْا بِاٰيٰتِنَا لَا يُوْقِنُوْنَ‏(82)

WA EZAA WAQA-A’L QAWLO A’LAYHIM AKHRAJNAA LAHUM DAAAB-BATAM MENAL ARZE TOKALLEMOHUM, ANNAN NAASA KAANOO BE-AAYAATENAA LAA YOOQENOON.

When the word [of judgement] falls upon them, We shall bring out for them an Animal from the earth who shall tell them that the people had no faith in Our signs.

وَ يَوْمَ نَحْشُرُ مِنْ كُلِّ اُمَّةٍ فَوْجًا مِّمَّنْ يُّكَذِّبُ بِاٰيٰتِنَا فَهُمْ يُوْزَعُوْنَ‏(83)

WA YAWMA NAHSHORO MIN KULLE UMMATIN FAWJAM MIMMAYN YOKAZZEBO BE-AAYAATENAA FAHUM YOOZA-O’ON.

On that day We shall resurrect from every nation a group of those who denied Our signs, and they will be held in check.

حَتّٰٓى اِذَا جَآءُوْ قَالَ اَكَذَّبْتُمْ بِاٰيٰتِىْ وَلَمْ تُحِيْطُوْا بِهَا عِلْمًا اَمَّاذَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُوْنَ‏(84)

HATTAA EZAA JAAA-OO QAALA AKAZZABTUM BE-AAYAATEE WA LAM TOHEETOO BEHAA I’LMAA AMMAA ZAA KUNTUM TA’MALOON.

When they come, He will say, ‘Did you deny My signs without comprehending them in knowledge? What was it that you used to do?’

وَوَقَعَ الْقَوْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ بِمَا ظَلَمُوْا فَهُمْ لَا يَنْطِقُوْنَ‏(85)

WA WAQA-A’L QAWLO A’LAYHIM BEMAA ZALAMOO FAHUM LAA YANTEQOON.

And the word [of judgement] shall fall upon them for their wrongdoing, and they will not speak.

اَلَمْ يَرَوْا اَنَّا جَعَلْنَا الَّيْلَ لِيَسْكُنُوْا فِيْهِ وَالنَّهَارَ مُبْصِرًا ‌ؕ اِنَّ فِىْ ذٰ لِكَ لَاٰيٰتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يُّؤْمِنُوْنَ‏(86)

ALAM YARAW ANNAA JA-A’LNAL LAYLA LEYASKONOO FEEHE WAN NAHAARA MUBSERAA, INNA FEE ZAALEKA LA-AAYAATIL LEQAWMIYN YOAMENOON.

Do they not see that We made the night that they may rest in it, and the day to provide visibility. There are indeed signs in that for a people who have faith.

وَيَوْمَ يُنْفَخُ فِىْ الصُّوْرِ فَفَزِعَ مَنْ فِىْ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَمَنْ فِى الْاَرْضِ اِلَّا مَنْ شَآءَ اللّٰهُ‌ؕ وَكُلٌّ اَتَوْهُ دٰخِرِيْنَ‏(87)

WA YAWMA YUNFAKHO FIS SOORE FA-FAZE-A’ MAN FIS SAMAAWAATE WA MAN FIL ARZE ILLAAMAN SHAAA-AL LAAH, WA KULLUN ATAWHO DAAKHEREEN.

The day when the trumpet is blown, whoever is in the heavens and whoever is on the earth will be terrified, except such as Allah wishes, and all will come to Him in utter humility.

وَتَرَى الْجِبَالَ تَحْسَبُهَا جَامِدَةً وَّهِىَ تَمُرُّ مَرَّ السَّحَابِ‌ؕ صُنْعَ اللّٰهِ الَّذِىْۤ اَتْقَنَ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ‌ؕ اِنَّهٗ خَبِيْرٌۢ بِمَا تَفْعَلُوْنَ‏(88)

WA TARAL JEBAALA TAHSABOHAA JAAMEDATAWN WA HEYA TAMURRO MARRAS SAHAAB, SUN-A’L LAAHIL LAZEE ATQANA KULLA SHAY-IN, INNAHU KHABEERUM BEMAA TAF-A’LOON.

You see the mountains, which you suppose, to be stationary, while they drift like passing clouds—the handiwork of Allah who has made everything faultless. He is indeed well aware of what you do.

مَنْ جَآءَ بِالْحَسَنَةِ فَلَهٗ خَيْرٌ مِّنْهَا‌ۚ وَهُمْ مِّنْ فَزَعٍ يَّوْمَئِذٍ اٰمِنُوْنَ‏(89)

MAN JAAA-A BIL-HASANATE FALAHU KHARUM MINHAA, WA HUM MIN FAZA-I’YN YAWMA-EZIN AAMENOON.

Whoever brings virtue shall receive [a reward] better than it; and on that day they will be secure from terror.

وَمَنْ جَآءَ بِالسَّيِّئَةِ فَكُبَّتْ وُجُوْهُهُمْ فِى النَّارِؕ هَلْ تُجْزَوْنَ اِلَّا مَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُوْنَ‏(90)

WA MAN JAAA-A BIS-SAYYE-ATE FAKUBBAT WOJOOHOHUM FIN NAAR, HAL TUJZAWNA ILLAA MAA KUNTUM TA’MALOON.

But whoever brings vice—they shall be cast on their faces into the Fire [and told:] ‘Shall you not be requited for what you used to do?’

اِنَّمَاۤ اُمِرْتُ اَنْ اَعْبُدَ رَبَّ هٰذِهِ الْبَلْدَةِ الَّذِىْ حَرَّمَهَا وَلَهٗ كُلُّ شَىْءٍ‌ وَّاُمِرْتُ اَنْ اَكُوْنَ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِيْنَۙ‏(91)

INNAMAA UMIRTO AN A-A’BODA RABBA HAAZEHIL BALDATIL LAZEE HARRAMAHAA WA LAHU KULLO SHAYIWN, WA UMIRTO AN A-A’BODA RABBA HAAZEHIL BALDATIL LAZEE HARRAMAHAA WA LAHU KULLO SHAY-IWN, WA UMIRTO AN AKOONA MENAL MUSLEMEEN.

[Say], ‘I have been commanded to worship the Lord of this city who has made it inviolable and to whom all things belong, and I have been commanded to be among those who submit [to Allah],

وَاَنْ اَتْلُوَا الْقُرْاٰنَ‌ۚ فَمَنِ اهْتَدٰى فَاِنَّمَا يَهْتَدِىْ لِنَفْسِهٖ‌ۚ وَمَنْ ضَلَّ فَقُلْ اِنَّمَاۤ اَنَا مِنَ الْمُنْذِرِيْنَ‏(92)

WA AN ATLOWAL QURAAN, FAMANEH TADAA FA-INNAMAA YAHTADEE LENAFSEH, WA MAN ZALLA FAQUL INNAMAA ANAA MENAL MUNZEREEN.

and to recite the Quran.’ Whoever is guided is guided only for his own good, and as for him who goes astray, say, ‘I am just one of the warners.’

وَقُلِ الْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ سَيُرِيْكُمْ اٰيٰتِهٖ فَتَعْرِفُوْنَهَا‌ ؕ وَمَا رَبُّكَ بِغَافِلٍ عَمَّا تَعْمَلُوْنَ‏(93)

WA QOLIL HAMDO LILLAAHE SAYOREEKUM AAYAATEHI FA-TA’REFOONAHAA, WA MAA RABBOKA BEGHAAFELIN A’MMAA TA’MALOON.

And say, ‘All praise belongs to Allah. Soon He will show you His signs, and you will recognize them.’ Your Lord is not oblivious of what you do.
